Baby Elephant Threat Display Cafe

sunsetred.jpg

Cat gets toy unstuck for kitten.

Comes a tiny thunder.

If Tater were an owl.

Seal slides in like Kramer.

In case you missed it: Cute kid is miked up for his snowboarding session.

Otter is trying to hold on to its precious supply of ice.

Purr-kour.

Cute tiny fuzzball.

Copycat watches and practices how a dog gets a treat, then copies his movies.

Inman: Guy thinks he's Batman. Spoiler: He's not Batman.

Scoldy biker gets Karen Karma.

Ambulance crew is drumming up its own business.

Baby elephant practices his threat display, tries to scare off some humans with his fierceness. Sound on.

Denninger and some others are talking on his forum.

Denninger is convinced the Fed is going to do the right thing and yank away the punchbowl. This would mean hard landing. Rate hates, pulling money out. Depression will result. Stronk stonk market will tank 50% rosey scenario. Again, depression.

Otherwise, the system crashes in 2 years. He reasons their hand is being force -- that PPI intermediate print of over 20% in some sectors has confirmed it. Massive inflation ahead.

We're talking price leveling doubling, tripling in 2 years. And it's YUGE in healthcare. That alone would blow up the federal budget in 2 years.

Yep, Denninger thinks this is the moment, if they don't stop it now, it's too late and US economy and dollar go the way of Rome.

57 Regarding the Remington settlement, I just had a chance to peruse the internet news postings. If you didn't know, you would swear that Remington is still making it's vicious AR's that miraculously drive themselves to elementary schools to shoot 6 year olds.

There is NO Remington Firearms company. The company filed bankruptcy in 2020, and was sold in pieces to various other gun and outdoor product manufacturers. Their various gun brands, including Bushmaster were sold to these same entities. The money raised was used via the bankruptcy court, to pay off debts including tax incentives the company was given to move its headquarters, ammo manufacturing plant and other facilities to a campus in Huntsville Alabama in 2014. Whoever bought either Bushmaster or some other entity of Remington, bought the Sandy Hook suit along with it, as they had to know that was pending and might not be discharged via the bankruptcy court, which is what happened with John Roberts of the SC left the suit as viable. What I don't know is if whatever is left of Remington still in the court is who owned the insurance policy or if one of the subsequent buyers of Remington is holding the policy.

In any rational look at economics, GDP should not be inflated by the government going into further debt and just printing money. If you subtract the deficit spending of our Gov, we have been in a depression for a couple of years now.

Inflation is just the inevitable outcome of the misapplied Keynesian Economic policies of our own government and Fed Res Board. Without actual economic growth, printing more money leads to inflation... always.

As a fellow that's read more than his share of shit on the Depression - I often wonder how this is so suddenly surprising to folks.

FDR was pretty plain - your wealth was his. If he'd had access to digital accounts like today's 401K ? That would have been a Day One project. Sure - we all would have got a receipt - and nothing more.

All these digital accounts - which is all any of us have - are getting locked down via the Fed. Pure and simple.

90 part 2. Insurance companies have to pay not just a settlement, but are paying all the lawyers fees, expert witness fees, all the expenses of any court motions, etc. It adds up incredibly fast. And the spectre of an unsettled suit makes it difficult for companies to get financing, investment, etc.

This out of court settlement may seem unfair, and it is on principal. On practicality, this kind of stuff happens every day and typically isn't trumpeted in the media. It's why there are asinine warnings on ladders, warnings not to drink shampoo, etc. Trying to add a layer of barb wire so they don't get sued.

We had soup lines, and farmers crops getting burned in the field, all at the same time - while gold and silver was being seized.

Yet - we name schools after the guy. Same as Lincoln and Wilson.

I think the worst they could do would be to close the account and make you move it or have the Fed send you a check.

There is a law in place that SS cannot be seized except in the case of child care or unpaid taxes.

they would have to modify the law or claim that they were taxing people but a tax requires a congress pass a law.

Look, Putin's a Trump-voting buttboy, jack.

This whole thing reminds me of when I defeated the Soviet Union back in the '80s. Or when I was going out on the Palmer raids. Back then we had a real rough customer, a guy called Vodkaslav the Bearfucker. He was a down low Russian rat, from his knees to his cufflinks. I kicked in the door of the teahouse where he ran his piss-hookers, and there he was, running off pamphlets during an election year.

I said "step away from the press, Johannes Putinberg!" He told me "why don't you meet me behind the banya, and I'll tear you up like one of my bear-bitches." That's when Woodrow Wilson explained to me that you can't take guff from a Slav, and he handed me a shotgun. I went around back of the banya, and my gun-moll Dr. Jill wasted him as soon as we heard him behind the door.

That's how I learned how to bring the trunaliminiprazure to a place like Ukraine. Word as a Biden.

Inflation is the most evil tax. It is regressive and it also taxes wealth. This is how the Fe'ral government can get around the 16th Amendment: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes,... "

Through the power of reckless printing of FRNs they are inflating away wealth. This is why the Founders had a commodity based currency, and why tyrants always want to debase the currency in favor of fiat.

What did the Remington settlement say, exactly, was Remington's culpability in the murders?

The dim local news radio that I heard discussing it on the way home (and even they didn't seem very happy with it) said the case was based on Remington advertising their AR-15 as like a "military weapon". As if people see ads for " military type weapons " and immediately think "military style? Combat? You mean like shooting up a grade school like in the cool Army movies?"

Why the ad hominem against PA? We're resolving our problems. I'll bet your state belongs to ERIC and has thousands of dead people still on the voting rolls.

BTW. Oz is being easily seen thru. He's a carpetbagger and might go over well in Philly or Pittsburgh but not in the rest of the state.

The guy to watch is the ex mayor of Hazleton. You know the one who got laws against illegal immigrants passed including an English only law? Yeah him. He's got a very good chance of winning. PA is ready for a Republican especially one that isn't stupid or stuck in the 50s like Corbett was.

189 Was that column by Goodwin/NYPost discussed here? A Moron helpfully linked it earlier today (sorry, forget nic).

It's kind of the perfect artifact of the times.

It's unbelievable, shocking, yet also very plausible, and unsurprising. Basically, an alleged leak of insider's account of a couple of Oval meetings wherein Joe doesn't recognize his own cabinet members, changes topics, yells at people, drifts, etc.

I was thinking "nah, not credible" WRT sourcing - not substance - but then re-thought it. Biden of course is surrounded by the kind of tiny unfit nasty Beltway lightweights who would be slimy enough to dish such nukyler s**t on their own prez/boss. But only if one of them felt the ship going down (in some sense), and saw personal advantage in revealing (confirming?) such stuff.

B) not one person in Congress is going to vote to fix this. Not that there is any way to fix this. They seem to think they know all about MEN when their only experience so far in their life has been BOYS and their DAD. Those are specialized classes of males and cannot be used to form opinions on how they will react to some stimulus.

Just as with Boomers. You all have created in your mind what you think a boomer is and then what they will do and in most cases you are wrong. Too much bad/incorrect information or disinformation. And probably not about a real "Boomer" anyway.

Let me introduce you to the concept of Genetic Entropy.

In each lifespan, there are very roughly a hundred or so SNV mutation (single-nucleide-variants). Those mutations get passed on to the next generation. Its sort of like copying a book with a number of mistakes and then copying the next book with those same mistakes but adding even more.

So it is is physics, biology, whatever, that the next generation is genetically inferior to its ancestors.

There was a back to the land movement in the 20's and prior to that it was more of a simple life movement every couple of generations. Gas engines made it more possible for the family to do that in the 20th century, when it is all human and horse power you really need a community because of the labor involved.

I suffer from Crohn's which means that my body doesn't absorb nutrients from food particularly well, so as with everything YMMV.

After my experience, I was not surprised to read that magnesium supplementation is thought to help prevent dementia and also to help with "middle age" memory issues. I'm sure you can find articles for everything helping everything, but for the moment I think magnesium is definitely a win.

No you have to wait a week/two weeks and then they mail it to you. They used to call the references you put down but I think they had to stop that due to privacy laws. Can't let people know someone is applying for a carry license so no calls. A background check is good enough anyway. And the Sheriff is connected to the country database for any immediate arrests or other law disobedience.

Still that's a whole lot better than even some of the more freer states except for constitutional carry.

We tried in PA but the slimy Philly Lawyer vetoed it. The only places with high crime and death rates are the Democrat run cities but it's the gun doing the crimes. Forget about the almost nonexistence of murder in the rural areas or even much armed robbery.

Want to limit crime? Fence off the cities or don't let Democrats get elected.

Posted by: All Hail Eris, She-Wolf of the 'Ettes 'Ettes at February 15, 2022 08:39 PM (Dc2NZ)

Problem I see with that, is that the amount of gold is fixed at the time the "bill" is printed. What happens if the price of gold changes? Say you buy a wad of "hundred dollar" Goldbacks made when gold was at $1800 per ounce, then each bill should contain 1/18 ounce of gold. Right? If gold goes to $2400 an ounce, which it might do if the dollar craters, then that "hundred dollar" Goldback ought to be worth $133. But will you get that for it?

Which is to say, there's never going to be a coalition to cut spending.

So, we'll all have our social security and Medicare. With regular 2% annual cost-of-living increases. While a can of beans will cost $100. You're gonna get "your money back". And one clinic in the whole county will still accept Medicare patients.

According to the Goldback website, the appropriate amount of gold is vapor-deposited onto the polyester substrate of the note, and then bound in place by more polyester. If I buy these, how do I know for sure that each such bill really contains X mG of gold? If I can convince myself of this, how do I convince the clerk at the liquor store that it does?

342 Actually with free banking (where the banks issued their own currency on their own reserves, pre FED) different banks' currency had different values, based on the possibility of clearing the debt based on the bills. Many banks would issue over their reserves on the understanding that the extra bills would take longer to come out from the Western territories to be cleared.
There were people who's business was to bring back bills from the Western territories (you know, like the wilds of Indiana) for conversion to gold and silver.

Private mint in Oregon City issued an eight sided "beaver" coins denominated at 5 and 10 dollars as a private currency minted out of gold mined during the gold rush, not many of them survived because they messed up the weight and the were worth more than the face value. 399 If you are interested in making a home food dryer with minimal cost, buy or find a dead dorm-room sized fridge, rip out the compressor, drill a hole in it to run in a power cord, and put in at least a 100 watt bulb for heat, and some sort of racks to hold the veggies and fruits you are drying.
You can then either drill holes in for the air to circulate on its own, or put in some sort of small fan, like a computer fan to circulate air through it.
Bonus if you can put in one of those indoor-outdoor thermometer so you can monitor the temperature.

The insulated box will heat more efficiently than some wooden box or the carcass of a washing machine.

A really good makeshift is to use a parked car on the hottest days of summer. That dries most veggies in a day

there are a lot of work arounds depending on what you want to do, I was told the original EDM used a copper probe and light bulbs as resistors but the probe pitted, and the Russians used a set up that ran a loop of wire around a sort of bar like a chainsaw, but look to see what is offered in the Maker world. There is a set up to engrave barrels, that I was really impressed by, no contact, just salt water pumped through between the electrode and the blank tubing.

462 I had no issues with the millennial generation as such until I ran headlong into a few stereotypes. Few years back I ask this intern to do a project. This is standard procedure for me. Many interns over the years, many projects.

Explained it very clearly and laid out all the steps, of which there weren't many. Said I needed it done ASAP because I was really busy, and to come to me with any issues. It was not complicated, just a bit of work.

Next day he stops by my office and says he wants to "have a meeting". I ask him how he's doing with that project. He says that's what he wanted to meet about.

So I told him there's no time like the present, why don't you just tell me what's up?

He pauses. Long, pregnant pause. Stares blankly at me and asks (and I quote) "Is there an easier way to do it?"

I said "That's what you wanted to have a meeting about? To ask if there's an easier way to do it? No, there isn't an easier way. Was there anything else? Have you done *any* of it?" And he said "No."

488 I didn't want to buy the Excaliber because that's the expensive model. I bought the cheaper one to see how much use it would get. It is programmable and seems to work pretty well. I'll give it a work out this year. If I use it a lot, I'll buy an Excaliber.

Assuming there is a somewhat civilized world, after whatever upheaval may there be, lots of folks will still have no use for ammo whatsoever... but may still raise sheep, or cows, or chickens, etc..
