Alien Line Art Cafe

amalfisunset.jpg

Pranking a cockatoo with a cockatoo puppet.

Cute: Pictures of a dog in doggy daycare, seeking out the fluffiest dogs, and then sleeping on them.

Cute: Little girl comforts puppy.

Bird wants snuggles.

Much bigger bird wants neck rubs.

Everyone is like "ooh the beauty of nature," but this fucking peacock is literally tryna bang this chick.

Panda snacking.

Very cute: Puppy is impressed by his big brother's ability to navigate the stairs.

Dog wants dinner, but is willing to share.

This dog wants dinner, but something about his manner tells me he may have a guilty conscience about something.

If you missed it, these monkeys are acting like they're monkeys at a banana buffet, which is sort of what they are.

For Duncanthrax: "HI!!!!"

Puss in boot.

This will be me in 48 hours.

Inman: Classic Chicken Joint Brawl.

Another classic: Soyboys fight. It takes forever. A lot of 1 hp hits.

Playcalling the showdown at the Golden Corrall.

If you missed it last week:

I don't care if they show people making these, I know this is aliens:

If you click on that, there's an article showing more of his designs.

This gets unrealistic around the tunnels/arches at the bottom of the building. The amber presumably from the setting sun shines through the holes, and it is doubtful the sun is low enough for that to happen given how much the clouds are illuminated.

23 The college I went to had a historic corn field (no, really, it's registered and everything...Illinois, go figure!) where they supposedly invented hybrid crops back in the day. I called it the sacred corn field because it got that vaguely religious reverence for old stuff that big academic institutions are into. Anyway, while I was there some students--probably drunk--went out one night and made crop circles. Campus admin went absolutely apeshit and wound up installing a bunch of security cameras all around the fields.

Ah, simpler times.

Well - that's the bitch about picking that line of work. You don't get to pick your leadership. You do, however, get to make a four or six year commitment that you can't get out of without significant personal loss. At least that's how it worked back in my day.

And now, that line of work involves training, indoctrination, and in some cases exercises aimed at suppressing the movements of the American citizenry.

Pick wisely, young Americans. We're rapidly moving past the "I'm just doing my job" phase.

A California State Senate bill would require parents of school students to report any firearms in their homes if passed.

SB-906, authored by Democratic Senator Anthony Portantino from La Canada Flintridge, was introduced Tuesday. Portantino penned the proposed law, which aims to keep track of what guns students may have access to in their household, in response to a recent rise in school shootings in the state:

"The bill would require local educational agencies to require the parents or guardians of a pupil to disclose whether any firearms are located at the home of the pupil and to answer questions about the ownership, storage, and accessibility by the pupil of the firearms. The bill would require local educational agencies to include information related to the safe storage of firearms in the annual notification provided to the parents or guardians of a pupil."

262 You've got to admire what the left has accomplished. If a role in a piece is supposed to be an Asian Hawaiian black lesbian, then that exact actress has to be found to portray the character.

And if its a white story involving white people then every single thing can be changed.

305 Fen-

Hollywood and Bollywood have both made excellent remakes of Pride and Prejudice:

Bridget Jones' Diary is P&P updated. Even Colin Firth's character's last name is Darcy. It was a very good rendition.

Bollywood: by the director of Bend it Like Beckham (also really nicely done): Bride and Prejudice. It stars one of Indias beautiful leading ladies in the Lizzy roll. And an American in the Darcy-ish roll.

Then Clueless is Emma. All three were a fun rendition. It is possible to update or make a new take on a classic.... but it takes work and vision, which sadly is lacking these days.

Yes, both of your points are connected--via the computer world of screens--we forget the humanity of others. Once that human connection is lost, it becomes more a statistic to lose someone through mandated government mistreatment. Certainly nothing to lose a job or much sleep over. Government has in effect become the person in the white coat demanding that the shock level be raised regardless of the person receiving the treatment. The patient being semi or unconscious on a ventilator just makes the whole process easier because that can just be shut off.

308 It's not the institutions that are the problem. The core of Conservatism is that very faith in the institutions that perpetuate and secure a culture. It is not the institutions, it is the Marxist cancer that has hollowed them out that is to blame. The police no longer Serve and Protect. The military is no longer Always Faithful. Healthcare workers no longer First Do No Harm.

It is because we, as a people, were doing more or less fine and didn't notice that the people we entrusted with the task of Conserving our public institutions while we went off to work were, in reality, busy selling us down the fucking river behind our backs for several decades.

The problem with Conservatism is that you have to trust Conservatives to actually Conserve something. Where we are right now is what happens when they don't. Extremism in defense of virtue became "Not Who We Are".

We can no longer be "conservatives" if you define that as "conserving the status quo", because the status quo has now become thoroughly rotten. We must face the fact that if we are sincere, then we are now Radicals, those who wish to overthrow the current system and replace it with something much much better. Since we are the Radicals now, we must think and act like Radicals.

I think this is a fair dissection bouncing off my comment. OTOH I wonder if "Marxism" is the only problem with this American Experiment I spent so much energy believing in. It's easy to say that our way is the best of a very bad lot, and maybe I still believe that, especially given the other options. And yes the commies represent an insane majority of "the problem".

But I do wonder about certain things that, if stated, would appear to put me firmly in the "Anti-American" camp. Which is a place I never expected to be. Also probably not an accurate description, but it would definitely sound that way.

I love a lot of us, and I love the fact that we're somehow, against all odds, still mostly a Christian nation. But there are some endemic issues which have allowed this Marxist trash to overturn everything the way it has. I can't get into it because it's depressing. It was better when I was stupid.

329 I think it's true that Liberalism and Socialism are both in essence revolutionary ideologies. Both stand in rebellion against entrenched, illegitimate power and undeserved aristocracy. (I consider Liberalism to be basically the mother-ideology of Conservatism, which I don't think is too controversial. The ideology of the Founding Fathers is essentially Liberalism. Conservatism seeks to bolster civic and public institutions in order to prevent that Liberalism, earned by blood, from being lost.)

Perhaps what we've seen in the 20th and early 21st centuries shows that any revolutionary ideology is doomed to be eternally revolutionary, or else it will devolve back into mere kleptocratic aristocracy.

334 Jane Austen's stories in one sense are timeless, in another, quite rooted to a certain time and place in England when marriage matches could quite literally be matters of life and death.

She had a good sense of the male-female dynamics of courting and a sharp eye at describing places, people, and how they actually talked at the time.

That is why that her books have stayed in print over the years.

370 * off, Forest Pixy sock *

The Endemic Issue is probably just Pride, Greed and Sloth, isn't it?

Again, as Milton Friedman asked - where are all these angels that are going to do all this good, Phil ?

Pride, Greed, and Sloth are endemic all right. To the nature of Man. They're also not words with objective meaning.

I turn down work that others want me to do, need me to do, all the time. I have that luxury. Is that Pride or Sloth ? It's not Greed, I've purposely arranged my material needs to be decidedly upper middle class. And yet, I've been accused of Greed, for not doing tasks I no longer wish to do, for the fee that those that desire my labor wish to spend.

I lack the vaunted WASPy Work Ethic. I've also got this nasty habit of insisting that my labor is mine and mine alone. So which is it - Pride, Greed, or Sloth that I'll go to Hell for ?

The problem is indeed endemic. The problem is just how high and wide man can justify his wants of the labor of other men.
