Beggar Bear Cafe

wintersunset.jpg

Dog selects its human.

Dog and pup.

Cute red panda.

Beware -- The Sentinel.

Why is this cat smiling?

Did this cat just pull the "Psych!" handshake dodge?

Bird... shares food with rat/mouse? That does seem to be what happens here.

Inman: Slacker thieves armed with long knives meet a motivated storeowner armed with a long stick.

Watermelon catapult misfire.

Moderate violence in "Discount Lion King."

A couple of weeks ago I linked a vid of a bear waving to a human for food. I thought it was a one-off. Actually, I thought it was digitally faked, but then I thought it was a one-off.

Apparently not. Bears have learned to make the "over here, buddy" gesture.

What can stop them now?

103 Ronnie Spector dead at 78. I saw her at City Winery three years ago, and many times before

Her father was an Irish NYC bus driver. He married a black / Cherokee woman and they lived in Spanish Harlem.

The Ronettes - Be My Baby
Brian Wilson was obsessed with this song, and would often play it a hundred times a day. (I never got over 20). Wrecking Crew at its best. The incomparable Hal Blaine on drums.

When the Ronnetes first toured the UK, The Rolling Stones were their opening act. The tour bus driver got badly lost in the fog in rural England, and so it was decided that Ronnie and Keith Richards would knock on the door of a farm house and ask for directions.

So a hobbit farmer opens the door to see a Blackish young woman and a wannabee pirate emerging from the fog.

He invited the whole gang in for tea

Posted by: bonhomme at January 12, 2022 07:42 PM

The big bang TV show did an episode on that. Seems they all did some mining for a few years and stashed the bitcoins they got on a thumb drive that got lost and they never found. $3 million worth IIRC.

184 If you're into bears waving for food I recommend The Olympic Game Farm in NW Washington State. https://olygamefarm.com/

You buy a loaf of bread, drive through and feed the animals. Prairie dogs, bison, bears and other animals. Ever feel the need to have an elk blow snot on your steering wheel? Olympic game farm is the place for you. One hooved beast will block your car and the others will beg for food. And yes, the carb-addicted bears will wave for bread -- but don't worry, the bears can't get to your car. They're safely contained behind one single strand of (hopefully electrified) wire.

I gotta say it's a hoot and a half for the whole fam.

299 WASHINGTON (AP) - The new top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee called Wednesday on President Joe Biden's administration to ramp up military and intelligence support for Ukraine.

"I believe that the administration should be actively arming Ukraine so it can defend itself," Rep. Mike Turner of Ohio said in an interview. "They want to defend themselves. They should be given every opportunity to do so."

I had witnessed the changing of the Guard on a short trip back in 1968. Did miss the Jefferson Memorial and the Korean War memorial.

The tour of the Capitol Building was a complete waste of time. The rest was meh. They can wall up the entire place as far as I am concerned.

How is that different than concealed carry? It's not. Constitutional carry is about not having to go pay someone for a license to carry when it's a constitutional right you already have.

Posted by: Cicero Kaboom! Kid.

The Indiana House has voted to let you carry a gun without a permit.

On a near party-line vote, the House voted 63-29 to join 21 states which have abolished permit requirements to carry handguns.

It's the second straight year the House has voted to get rid of gun permits - last year's bill didn't get a vote in the Senate. The Senate won't take up House-passed bills until next month.

410 339 I've grown tired of listing and/or remembering them:

And of course, Geraldo Rivera has moved to Cleveland to establish residency to run for the Senate seat (as a Democrat) opened up by Portman moving on to his new K Street lobbying job.
---------
The Ohio GOP is persisting in believing that NAFTA is still useful and successful policy. It has led them to make mistakes that has both hurt them and the Buckeye State since Clinton's second term. The only reason that Ohio hasn't turned into a perpetually flushing economic toilet is that the Democrats have done little when they were in power statewide except encourage people to vote Republican, and the Republicans have had some moments of sanity when they have let money and industry into the state instead of letting it all leave.

I have no fear of Geraldo Rivera. Ohioans who know of his continued existence regard him as a con man and a socio-political twinkee.

Barring the argument that any right that requires government permission really isn't a right, and the argument that life-time removal of rights for felons disincentivizes reform after completing a jail sentence and parole in full which turns the world into a prison and makes me a jailer . . . Do you honestly think that someone who intends to commit a felony will be deterred from committing it with a firearm by a law that says they can't carry concealed?

Felons by nature never file the paperwork anyway, so nothing is lost or gained. Constitutional carry just means they will get their inevitable award for their lawless behavior in a way that will cut down on police investigation and court cases.

442 just an aside from earlier today ... but imo Ann Coulter probably did much more to get Trump elected in 2016 than anyone here. She gave him a copy of her Adios America book, and I think consulted on the border issue that vaulted Trump to victory.

But here she is assaulted in perverse terms ... bag of bones, whore for attention, flucked Bill Maher .. but she went on Maher's show and said Trump had the best chance. THEN when Trump went soft on border control and kept putting anti-border control people in top positions, Coulter confronted him and Trump denounced her.

idk ... her books are edgy and on point, she speaks "truth to power" in her speeches ... imo she is a front line fighter, but I have not followed her lately. Sure she sells books ... Good Books. I really don't get the hate and acceptance of such vile personal attacks on her. She is a warrior ... not an easy thing to do. She goes into the enemy zone, not just cute attacks from the comfort of a friendly blog.

In Illinois we need the FOID card, and I got an email today about my renewal, I have moved on to the next phase where they check my record I guess, they said my submission had all the necessary info.

BUT, I had read that the IL FOID card will now be permanent, not an every five year renewal ... guess I will find out soon.

A blast wall, ha, so this is what the bravery of the Democrats at outing the terrifying fascist Trump has come to! It's not a castle or fortress wall. Castle and fortress walls for a base for the control of a given region. That wall is for a passive refuge, a place of hiding, the walls of Ravenna in the late Empire or Ninety-Six in the time of a yet later empire. They can hide in those walls and give us freedom of movement and initiative.

Herd immunity comes from almost everyone being exposed to everything (and to be fair not everyone will survive and live forever, almost like life)!

Zero immunity comes from huddling, masked of course, in your home and never venturing forth until that one day when you have to, and then...

I am fortunate that yours is not a majority opinion. In Germany the right to own arms does not include "purchasing without government permission" so I feel fortunate that that is not a local interpretation as well.

The Sullivan act in New York was set up in part to give the police the option to harass, search and arrest individuals they police suspected of being mobsters, and it was so badly used by the police that the actual mobsters would sew their pockets shut and have someone else carry their cigarettes, matches and handkerchiefs because the police started slipping pistols into pockets while they were doing a pat down.

All the prohibition you like does is to create a jailable offense, and will not change behavior. It hasn't worked in the last 140 years, it clearly is not working today, and with that history, I have small hope it will work tomorrow either.

right, except it is not Zero .. but it is reduced. Also, the factor of stress caused by isolation and being indoors, lack of exercise, lack of social context ... also supply chain issues and external pressures ... these are also part of the formula that increases death rates and vulnerability.

I'm talking about gang bangers that are not yet felons free to carry now without worrying about the consequences. They will also be the designated carriers just like minors are used to be the designated mules. Again I don't have a problem with it but most law abiding people who want to carry a gun already have a license. And training.
===========
I appreciate your concerns over a blanket permission, but the Constitutional requirement has no other limitations. Those who carry and wield firearms responsibly will do well and won't have much trouble with the authorities. Those who don't will get themselves removed from consideration through their own bad choices or run afoul of the police. And as you've cited, the professionally criminal types have skirted the rule of law (including firearms laws) for quite a while now. There is nothing to stop them from doing so, but with Constitutional Carry the mere public possession of a firearm is not a criminal offense. Use of said firearm will determine if a criminal offense has been committed.

547 I think I'm on the tail end of my little trip with ChiCom flu. It never got bad for me. Just a cough (mild but annoying), sinuses jacked up, really tired. No fever and I had my taste and smell. The only problem is I'm still testing positive for Covid. I have one more test kit. I'll use it tomorrow. Hopefully It will be clear. Those things are hard to find.

Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at January 12, 2022 09:42 PM (Q9lwr)

I have thought about this a lot. Felons tend to be felons because they are f*cking stupid, drugged up and stupid, or really f*cking stupid. There may be a solution for a percentage of them if they see a reason to turn their lives around, but forcing them to the bottom of society and keeping them there hasn't worked. In short, helping stupid people has a low ROI, but hurting them is less valuable.

However, removing their rights because they were in jail turns the world into a prison and I don't want to run it or be a prison guard.

583 "You are correct, "severely reduced immunity capability" would have been a far better choice of words"

yes, well, that is another issue .. it was reduced, how severely .. depends on how isolated people became. I think many lived mostly normal lives, and even if they wore masks, that did not "severely" interfere with normal transmission of viral infections ... maybe some of the social isolation did, idk. Mostly we are flooded with bad data, manipulated date.

I've been thinking about this as well lately, partly due to the ongoing efforts by the ruling class to turn half the country into either felons or some similar status for political gain. The rules as is maybe worked back in the day when there were a lot more small businesses whose owners didn't really give a shit, but now that employment is dominated by bureaucrats it's become very exclusionary. In general the HR robots' job is to find reasons to not hire someone and they've become exceedingly efficient at it.

They have no message there for their daughter. That is a public plea not to be canceled for blaming a fake tranny for the crime committed against their daughter. I know which political party they likely support. No, it's not fair for their daughter, but it's 2022 and this is the trend that is prevalent in society.
