224 Alvin Bragg. Growing up in Harlem in the 1980s, I saw every side of the criminal justice system from a young age. Before I was 21 years old, I had a gun pointed at me six times: three by police officers and three by people who were not police officers. I had a knife to my neck, a semi-automatic gun to my head, and a homicide victim on my doorstep.

Bragg went to Trinity School, a private institution in the Upper West Side of NYC. Trinity has a tuition rate of $57,000 a year.

Expectations are a bitch, aren't they? Just like how stock markets went nuts and employment starting going up before Trump took office in 2017. The stage was set with the election, and people had expectations of improvement. They moved early and things started improving before a single policy could change.

But that works in both directions.

343 For years, I've listened to people hollering nonstop about blah blah mask effectiveness blah blah vaxx effectiveness blah blah lockdowns blah blah spike proteins blah blah blah.

None of this has been based on any science, from the jump. The government doesn't even pretend that any of their science makes any sense.

It's an egregious example of how things work in this country, but a stark one... The government goes wild with excess about Topic X, and their citizen-victims whine about how none of it works and nothing they're saying is true, while they merrily continue their rampage, because they don't give a damn what we think.

The only word that matters to them is "no." Until enough people say that, this is all just pissing in the wind. I really couldn't care less to talk about stupid COVID science. It's a fucking cold, fercrissakes. It's all just a distraction. We're not dealing with a disease, we're dealing with a power struggle.

346 I don't know why it hit me like it did this morning (guess I'm just slow on the uptake) but regarding this "push" to get everyone vaccinated, the aim clearly isn't to get everyone vaccinated.

Those most likely to resist the vax are those who naturally distrust authoritative systems, i.e., repressive big government.

While the vax has does many things to benefit the elites, its biggest contribution has been its ability to create the ultimate us vs. them scenario. A scenario that has enabled "us" to create "legal" avenues to punish enemies in unimaginable ways.

This is why they feel comfortable releasing holiday cards talking about dark winters for the unvaxxed. By not adhering to their dictates, we have outed ourselves as sub-human. The vax was simply a MacGuffin (albeit, a dangerous and profitable one).

Also factor in what I would call "portion inflation". For example: packages of bacon used to be 1lb. Now they are 12oz. For the same price.

Same for cereals, chips, etc.

If being vaccinated is a moral thing to Kurt, then he must think a whole lot of blacks are immoral and dumb for not getting the jab.

Humans seem to have a strong capacity to tolerate, and even care for, those with lower ability. I'm reminded of an early SF short story by Lester del Rey (?) in which the last of the Neanderthals is treated kindly, almost like a pet with opposable thumbs, by a band of Cro-Magnons. The CMs seem amused by and tolerant of the mental limitations of the Neanderthal, the main character.

It reminds me of the deer whistle from my youth. You invent something to "cure" a problem that rarely occurs (Most people don't get Covid, just like most people in those days never hit a deer.). Those who want to believe are convinced that the negative event didn't occur because of the "cure."
If, against all odds, the negative event does occur, you come up with excuses, blaming the operator, changed conditions, whatever, and say things like "The whistle kept a whole pack of deer hiding in the ditches, but maybe this one was deaf." But the true believers will never admit that the "cure" never did anything.
