Beware of Duck Cafe

duckfalling.jpg

Or Duck Falling?

Like this, do they mean?

A flip of the cap to you!

Lion snarl.

Newborn puppy and dog-mom.

Someone is regretting having left the nature channel on, with a cat in the house.

If you're going to leave the nature channel on with a cat in the house, make sure it's a show about hawks.

Dogs just like watching other dogs.

Dog enjoying some snow.

Trust fall.

Wanna play?! Wanna play?! Wannaplaywannaplaywannaplay?!

I remember years ago hiking in the NorCal redwood forests how the rangers had a custom chainsaw with probably an 8 or 10 foot bar, because when a redwood fell across a trail they would just cut a 4 foot slice out of it and you would just walk through this passageway between tall wooden walls ... so very cool !
lots of times they would cut another half-slice out of the removed piece and leave it as a big wooden bench you could sit down on.

Pet sitter said she came in that night to find him all scrunched down wiggling his big gray behind to ambush. She told us later that she copied the playlist and plays it for her cats too.

Why are we putting up signage to help these ducks, anyway?

Ducks are the worst. They are ornery, dangerous and unpredictable. They can get you seriously injured, or even killed. Ask Dick Cheney's friends about it.

Why keep these menaces around when you could kill them all?

They're also tasty. Peking duck. Duck a l'orange. Duck soup. The list goes on. Don't limit yourselves.

Yet... in Pacific Grove, CA they were "protected." If you so much as looked at one cross-eyed it could be a several hundred dollar ticket. Or maybe it is all wild animals ... some seem friendlier just due to pecking order?

I had Canadian geese with two goslings on the pong here, survived a little while at least. Was real happy when a wood duck had ten (or so) ducklings .. something got them all after a few days, just when I was so hoping it would be an annual thing. ... now more committed to killing more coons, and snapping turtles. Nature is cruel ...

oh, and the last two chickens that disappeared coincided with Bald Eagle sightings. Cool if eagles nest around here ... less cool if I have to feed them a chicken a month. But so it goes.

145 Oh...

as of February 2021, when Pfizer's shot was being rolled out worldwide on an emergency basis, the drugmaker had compiled more than 42K case reports detailing nearly 160K individual adverse reactions to the vaccine.

The data show the bulk of the adverse event cases, both serious and non-serious, were classified as "general disorders".

Among the more common conditions reported were fevers (pyrexia), fatigue, and diarrhea, among others.

But perhaps the most surprising number in the entire report is that more than 1K of these cases were fatal in the US.

191 I remember years ago hiking in the NorCal redwood forests how the rangers had a custom chainsaw with probably an 8 or 10 foot bar, because when a redwood fell across a trail they would just cut a 4 foot slice out of it and you would just walk through this passageway between tall wooden walls ... so very cool !
lots of times they would cut another half-slice out of the removed piece and leave it as a big wooden bench you could sit down on.
Posted by: sock_rat_eez, remembering Tami (IJMH4) at December 22, 2021 07:50 PM (IJMH4)

There's something like that here in CA - a butte like rock where huge slabs fall off the vertical face and roll down the lower slope. A huge one broke in the center and the trail goes between the slabs. There are houses at the food of the lower slope...I guess they figure it will be a while before one rolls just a bit farther.

192 My two oldest have had the Rona and now are rethinking their decisions to having received the jab. Um, maybe too late guys?

#3 is flying in from DFW tonight (and boy, are his arms tired) but called first to make sure it would be okay as he knows I'm not jabbed. His concern was I'd get sick from him. Bring it son. I miss your face.

The Mom of the 14 month old I watch is Karenish but trending towards thoughtful and has no issues with the no jab for me and will not let anyone else watch the short one. He started walking today. I lied and told her he didn't but was 'this' close. He did more at home. Starting the first of the year I'm picking up a two month old to watch while Momma goes back to work. Again, no issues and she knows I kiss the hell of these little ones.

People are funny. I can't figure them out.

210 One thing that has become painfully clear as this J6 committee Dem shit show progresses is that the DC Circuit is completely filled with demented fucking nut jobs and buffoons hired in by Obama and confirmed by GOP shitheads.

Their written rulings, which should be scribbled in crayon, over serious arguments surrounding executive privilege or demands for restraint are basically the meanderings of 8 year olds that are presented with issues far, far over their heads.

Today some lower DC court judge DENIED Gen. Flynn's restraint on the J6 committee to subpoena him and NBC had that headline up on that retarded judge's verdict toot sweet right after, only to immediately pull it when this fuckwad's bosses, in emergency appeal, slapped his idiotic clown ass down. But it's too late - the clown show that is the DC circuit is in full embarrassing display, that is clear. It needs to be dissolved and cases moved elsewhere.

Watched a fun little movie -- "Bush Christmas".

Stop right there, you pervs. It's about a group of Australian kids who track a trio of horse thieves across the wilderness. They use cunning and bushcraft, and there's a touch of Home Alone craftiness.

What's really amazing is kids being allowed to go on adventures without supervision. They were remarkably self-sufficient. It's from 1947.

Most cats are genetically black, they just have other genes that add a striped pattern on top - tabbies, or white spotting for tuxie cats. I have one cat that has a recessive black gene cinnamon and is a tabby, so he's almost orange looking.

I've had a pair of grey / creme cats, but the grey is just a dilute on black. The creme or orange on calicos an torties is from a sex linked gene that replaces black "ink" with orange. At some point areas on the skin flip a coin to decide which gene to use, and if you have one of each the fur color follows.

340 The thing about Colorado is just how many rivers have their headwaters here. So there is a lot of multi-state arguing. Funny thing is, the Arkansas river is dry as a bone when you go downstream of Lamar, Colorado. When you see it in Dodge City, it is a dry river bed, like the Salt river in Arizona. But then you get to Ozark, Arkansas, and it's mighty river once again.

350 Mrs. E brought home a cat that was part Siamese, and tan/orange on her face, paws, and tail with the creme part being muted orange stripedy cat. She was just the coolest looking cat. She had 3 kittens who were all different, one was standard M1A1 black/gray stripedy cat, one was a creme/chocolate Siamezer, and the other was a longhaired woolycat who was muted light gray stripedy. And he was the only Maine Coon in the trio. MamaCat was a slattern.
Posted by: Eromero at December 22, 2021 09:21 PM (0OP+5)

It is actually hard to prove a litter has separate father, as cat coat genetics are so diverse - the Siamese look is a single pair of genes that "bleach" out the coat color on warm areas like the body, less so on ears nose and tail. So a standard looking Siamese is genetically a solid dark black cat - the blue eyes and shading is all just a reflection on the heat sensitive mod on the coat.

longhair is a recessive, so mom must have at least one, and she has the siamese gene too, and tabby. The orange and black means just from her kittens could be both colors.

374 One of my current cats is a British SH which as an interesting coat, but not perfect. A genetically black cat can have an undercolor that is a brown-orange on the belly and nose. On tabbies these are the common 'brown' tabby. There's a gene called wideband that pushes the tabby pattern partly or all the way off the hair, leaving a monocolor golden coat. Well, my guy doesn't have quite the perfect, so he has black on the very tips of the coat so he looks like he's been sprinkled with pepper except on the tail where he has rings. But if you part the coat and peek in there is no striping under the tip, pure golden.
