America Is safest When The World Thinks We Are Just A Bit Crazy

Unpredictability is a tremendous advantage in wartime, as any study of the greatest generals in history will quickly reveal. But is it equally effective as a tool in the geopolitical machinations of sovereign countries?

Yes, and President Trump demonstrated that in his four years in office, as did President Reagan in his eight years. Never mind the drooling imbeciles of the left who see every American action that isn't predicated on the sclerotic thinking of the dying countries of Western Europe as an outrageous provocation and tantamount to global thermonuclear warfare.

Pay attention to what didn't happen during President Trump's time as Commander in Chief. You know...when the world was terrified that the lunatic in the White House was going to start wars over tariffs on kewpie dolls or nasty tweets or a host of trivial things that sometimes blow up into very serious things...like wars.

Except that didn't happen. Maybe the world wasn't sure of America's response, and decided that channeling Falstaff's "discretion is the better part of valor" was a better plan than finding out whether America still had teeth.

The folly of a no-first-use nuclear policy

The Biden administration’s Nuclear Posture Review (NPR), launched in July 2021, is likely to be completed in early 2022. Although it will deal with several issues related to the United States’ nuclear deterrent – including the future size, composition and modernization of the nuclear force – perhaps the most important strategic question it will address is whether to adopt a no-first-use declaratory policy.

In contrast to the policy spelled out in the 2018 NPR, which permits the U.S. to use nuclear weapons first “in extreme circumstances to defend the vital interests of the United States, its allies, and partners,” a no-first-use (NFU) policy would prohibit the use of nuclear weapons except in response to a nuclear attack.

But as is becoming the norm in current American strategic thinking (or lack thereof), We may be close to doing something amazingly stupid and dangerous. The Biden junta may be considering an official "No First Use" (NFU) policy for nuclear weapons. If they do, and I have no doubt that the pressure from the hard left is significant, we will have hamstrung or strategic responses to rapidly growing threats to our allies (the few that we have left) and more alarmingly, to our continued presence on the world economic stage, not to mention our position as a counterbalance to Chinese expansion and Russian re-expansion (into Eastern Europe).

I am not suggesting that we return to the concept of Pax Americana. We have lost too many fine men in wars without end and campaigns to nowhere. But standing firm alongside our allies (formal or otherwise) against authoritarian expansion is a reasonable strategic plan, and one that will be fatally damaged if we forswear first use of every weapon at our disposal, including nuclear weapons.

20 The threat that America might, just might, go nuclear in response to a massed conventional attack has long been considered to be a huge deterrence for a China with 100 million excess males to start a war.

Taking that off the table is stupid. Yes our commiecrats would probably reverse the decision after a war was started (severe backlash from the U.S. public would probably outweigh the accepted bribes from the Chicoms, and they reverse things all the time.)

But the war would already be started and having to actually go nuclear vs. having the "don't mess with us, we reserve the right to go nuclear rather than get into a conventional WW3" would be horrific.

There is no question of human rights (fuck your freedoms!) or even if the policy of leaky gene therapy mandates work. Just that raw government can force people do to what those in government want.

Since leveling Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it has long been known that the former United States has a perpetual Never Use Policy in place. Quite frankly, does anyone even know if the arsenal even works? All tests have been performed on models since the non proliferation treaties have been signed. Sure, they were cooking them off left and right in 50 and 60s, and doing some underground tests; and the rockets and missiles do launch and go to where they are supposed to, but do we have empirical evidence that the current deployed warheads would even detonate as expected?

My night sights deteriorate with age until they are near useless, do the tritium triggers on the warheads get exchanged on a known cycle when they have decayed?

83 President Bidens top military advisers should have predicted Afghanistans imminent collapse and then offered their resignations if the commander in chief refused to modify his withdrawal plans, a former deputy commander told Fox News.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley and Central Command head Gen. Kenneth McKenzie had a responsibility to stand firm if they believed the fast-paced troop withdrawal would end in catastrophe, retired Marine Col. Andrew Milburn told Fox News.

Can you imagine if those three or even two out of three had offered their resignation? Milburn, a former Special Operations Central deputy commander, said. You dont think that might have caused the president to think twice?

100% true.

IIRC, fission initiators (nuclear triggers) used to need regularly-scheduled replacement. I am not sure that is true today. Some sort of "solid-state" initiator may have been perfected and weaponized. I do not know how much tritium is used in current US weapons and how frequently the tritium-containing components must be replaced. I believe the fusion fuel nowadays (for a looong time, actually) is lithium deuteride. I have no idea if it needs replacement or what that schedule is.

Tritium has a half-life of around 11 years. So yeah, after a while, the Tritium has to be replaced.

I think Tritium for the US nuke arsenal used to be made at the Savannah River Reservation.

97 We have a fundamental misunderstanding of war and how to fight it among our governing class.

The first goal of war is to win, the second is to minimize the costs to our country and allies in blood and treasure.

Saving enemies lives and enemy infrastructure is NOT a goal. It is the opposite of a goal in fact as the whole point of war is to inflict enough pain on your enemy to force them to agree to something they would otherwise not agree to.

So let's approach this question of nuke first use. Will it help us win the war? Will it save American lives? If the answer to either question is yes we should use them - just like we did at the end of WWII.

Why launch nukes at ports when it is much easier to buy them or win the concession contract and manage the siege through maladministration?

This is similar to a problem I had with EMP attacks. When the grid goes out, the enemy loses the ability to use the grid. When the ports are taken out, then the enemy loses the ability to use the port for their purposes.

The Chinese method of buying off the money-changers and politicians falls right in line with the "sell them the rope" policy.

And on the 6th of January, we had our bloodless coup d'etat with all of the banks and major companies hoisting and saluting the enemy's flag.

The thing about state lines that is funny is that the media and our jurisprudence system is that they would actually entertain a notion of arresting and imprisoning a model citizen teenager for life over some state-line rule, if such a rule existed.

But if you are a foreigner, they want no rule enforced about crossing national borders, in fact they want to write you a check for doing it.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I think they floated some state lines narrative for two purposes, one of which was to make it look like Rittenhouse drove all over hell and high water looking for trouble, rather than just helping out in his back yard.

The other was "crossing state lines" sound like something feasible that could be in the law regarding firearms, being it is the bullshite they have floated in the gun show debates. Your average person doesn't really know the law. So if you take your average liberal, that is only one-third as versed in the law as the average person, and it sound like a real law especially when they've already had that phrase implanted in their memory. Basically it was because they wanted to create guilt by statute in the minds of their drones.

They knew the videos showed Rittenhouse being assaulted by full grown adult felons, but if you could present the idea that he wasn't allowed to be there by statute, you can still argue against his innocence.

But don't worry, Soros DA Chesa Boudin is on the job!

"Trust and safety are our core values in this city," he wrote. "Last night's organized crime in Union Square, Bayview District and beyond must never happen again. These crimes are happening around the Bay and across the country. I stand in partnership with our local, regional, state, and federal partners as we work together to do whatever it takes to keep you safe."

Translation: I'm not going to do jack shit.

And this is happening everywhere, so you can't blame me for it.

True. However I am not sure 'crossing state lines' is in many if any Federal criminal statutes. Instead, Congress makes selected crimes Federal crimes to begin with. Bank robbery, for example. Kidnapping. How many others? I don't know.

169 The 'crossing state lines' thing is probably based on wishcasting that the FBI will ride in and dispense glorious people's political justice.

The FBI already did, and are continuing to do in places like Portland? Can't you smell the smoke and see the burned out and destroyed properties?

There is your federally orchestrated "Glorious People's Political Justice" its burning before you very eyes.

180 Excellent post, CBD, and a matter on which I've long held the same views.

More proof, if any were needed, that Europeans are idiots. If they had any brains, any brains at all, they'd want a "cowboy" as they call it (thinking that that's an insult to Americans).

Why? Because Europe is as weak as a kitten, and everybody - including the world's bad actors - knows it. Their threats - i.e., sternly worded letters - amount to bupkis. But if we have a "crazy" President, the Europeans can then say to the malefactors, "Listen, we'll try to rein in the crazy American, but if we can't cut a deal with you, well ...." Then they'd actually have the influence they yearn to have.

Instead Europeans want bed wetters in the White House. On one hand, they can relate to bed wetters. But on the other, it's a stupid line to adopt.

185 Just my 2cents but the age of nuclear war is past. Our enemies have cottoned on to the idea that there is no need to destroy all those natural resources that are needed. Biological and space capabilities are the wars of the future.
Posted by: Ben Had

Well, in honesty, we never had an "age of nuclear war". There was a long era when both sides were armed with nuclear weapons, and this was deterrence from starting a large conventional war.
I think the "age of deterrence" with nukes will continue, as it has apparently worked.
I think the US, Russia China, Britain, France, India, Pakistan and a few other assorted countries (Israel??) will continue to have nukes. Because the fear of getting incinerated is quite real.
And having nukes is also a sign of a kind of prestige.

I disagree, the collectivists, by definition, hate State sovereignty against the Federal Leviathan.

They have intercepted enough of conservative inner communications to recognize that us few remaining Constitutionalists revere the 10th Amendment and the framework in which it exists. They have absolutely no idea what State Rights means, its not in their vocabulary, but like most psychopaths, you don't need to know the meaning, just fake the sincerity and hope that your mark is too stupid to recognize the failed attempt at our shibboleth.

Just read a good piece on the "propagandistic praxis" that is being used all the time now. It goes like this in the abstract: X is some thing they want to do, or that is going to happen, but X is very unpopular. The stages go like this

1) We're not going to do X/X will not happen. 2) No, we're not doing X/X isn't happening. 3) Okay, we're doing a little bit of X/X is happening a little bit, but it's no big deal 4) X is happening, and it's a good thing.

You can see that with inflation. There's not going to be any inflation, idiot. There is no inflation, idiot, despite what you think. Then, well, okay there's some inflation, but it's only transitory. And finally, yep there's inflation and it's a good thing.

Given the organization of this event, I'm beginning to think that upper management of Nordstroms in Seattle realized that they oversold Black Friday shopping and now want to save face despite backing away from some of those promised sales (and massive staffing shortages) - so they, being from Seattle, had contacts with those who brokered an experienced Rent A Mob to show up and do some hasty inventory relocation.

They get the insurance claim, get the highly coveted BLM Award of Submission and Compliance, and can move inventory through other venues to really kick up those year-end numbers and executive bonuses.

They're running that same playbook with CRT in schools, at around Stage 2 - 3.

319 The BTC to Tulip mania is not really apt. The tulip bubble lasted less than a year before imploding. And there were no crashes followed by a runup. It was a one and done. BTC has had 2 crashes already and is on its third major run up in the past 5 years.

In 2017/8 BTC was pronounced dead when it crashed from 20K to 4K. Today it's at 60K.

So.....

320 307 The only reason a Louis Vitton purse is worth $5000 is because people are willing to pay that much for the logo.

321 Walnut Creek is (or was, at least) lily white.

The looters? Not so much. There was probably a whole caravan coming from Oakland.

322 Walnut Creek is yes, very prosperous, probably more white than Oakland, which has lots of whites. I haven't seen the racial breakdown of the criminals because I don't think many were arrested.
This is also the new thinking of Police: "We can't possibly arrest them all, so they all got away", which is complete BS. You arrest what you can, then come down like a ton of bricks on them.
But, Soros DA will let them walk, so why bother...

Fuck that noise. If THEY shipped the wrong parts, that's on THEM.
Posted by: rickb223 at November 21, 2021 01:43 PM (OCTRt)

They shipped what I ordered, however the measurements of the parts were not listed, but they said it would FIT MY VEHICLE. They do not replace stock unless there's some option I selected that wasn't correct.

Back from shopping. Some empty spaces and shelves. Mangoes and, oddly, egg roll wrappers, are nowhere to be found. Really, egg roll wrappers?

On the plus side, my favorite store was just putting out a load of Snake River Farms pseudo wagyu ribeyes at $15 a pound. Sold American!

Thanksgiving dinner shall be baked brie with a homemade mango cranberry chutney assuming I can find some mangoes, unfrenched rack of lamb with mushroom risotto, and pumpkin pie turon rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Assuming I can find some egg roll wrappers.NomNom!

328 They had to find an excuse not to give Joe or Kamala the football codes. So they renounced first strike because if we get hit first we won't be able to strike back anyway.
