The Ballad of Edward Durr

After select counties in NJ found more votes for Phil Murphy, the AP declared the race for him.

Strangely, no one will declare the race for Durr.

It's almost as if the media, including and maybe especially Fox, calls races for Democrats immediately and holds off on calling them for Republicans to give Democrats a long, long time to count and recount and find votes they "missed."

And to set in the public's mind, as early as possible, the idea that Democrats have "won" seats, and that those "wins" are unchallengeable, while maintaining Republican wins in a state of psychological, epistemological limbo for as long as possible, so that no one shrugs when a Sudden Surge of Democrat votes takes those wins away.

Well, finally someone has -- AP declared Durr the winner at 11:30 this morning.

In one of the most stunning political upsets New Jersey has ever seen, longtime state Senate President Stephen Sweeney has lost his latest re-election bid to a little-known Republican, according to a projection by the Associated Press on Thursday morning.

Congratulations to 3D4NJ.

Breitbart interviewed this folk hero:

And he offered Breitbart News an interesting analysis of why he won, and why Republicans did so well statewide.

"The main issue was rights," Durr said, via phone. "People talk about how New Jersey has the highest taxes, and we’re the worst state for business, with high debt, and so on, but bottom line is rights. It's family.

"When somebody’s messing with your family, you'll do anything," he said. "the governor was messing with people’s families. When you mess with somebody's job, their livelihood, their home, their children -- people just won't take that."

Durr said that New Jersey's harsh coronavirus policies had helped create a "perfect storm" that made his victory possible.

"It was the combination of a governor who acts like a king, and a senate president who acts like a court jester, and does nothing. That made it very easy to convince people they were not being paid attention to. And when they got ignored, they got angry."

He goes on to say how he won the race -- basically, footwork. He walked a lot of neighborhoods and knocked on a lot of doors.

One correction he is making now. He says he's "exasperated" by false reports that he spent only $153. That's how much he reported he spent for the primary. For the general election, he spent... $5,000.

Okay that is more but that still won't buy you a used car that works.

And I believe it is still Good Information that he spent half of his campaign budget on Dunkin Donuts.

He made this same correction on Rachel Campos-Duffy's show last night.

I am Throttling this blog's reach due to the Misinformation it has spread on this point.

Here are a couple of screenshots of tweets he supposedly wrote in 2019 and 2020.

9 Repost from the morning report: From the BB article.

"Trust me, plenty days I did not feel like walking. It was too hot, my ankles and my feet hurt -- I'm not a young man anymore, and I have gout, and plantar fasciitis -- it was a hard thing."

"But it was well worth it, because it allowed me the opportunity to talk to every person I could possibly talk to, and understand what they were feeling, and get the pulse."

During one walk, he encountered his opponent. Durr challenged him to a debate -- but Sweeney "blew me off, he laughed at me."

Durr also campaigned through personal tragedy: he lost his father, Ed Sr., just last week.

Bless that man. RIP, Ed Sr.

27 He did it the hard way, then, by wearing out shoe leather and making his pitch. And he won against a powerful incumbent. This tells me two things, knowing nothing else about him, his opponent or his district:
1. His opponent did not take him seriously, ignored him, assumed he had it made, and didn't bother. He lost at least in part due to his own hubris.
2. The district is fairly small, so he could go door-knocking and making in-person pitches and the potential to steal was reduced.

The laws of actuary should have at least one incumbent die before the election at some point and I could end up a judge or something. That would make a fine hobby in retirement.

37 Have you heard of Virgil Cooper? In 1994, Mike Synar was a Democratic Representative from Oklahoma. He was an eight-term incumbent. Virgil Cooper was a 71-year-old retired principal who ran against Synar in the Democratic primary. His total campaign expenditures consisted of the cost of printing a couple of campaign signs which he attached to the sides of his pickup truck. His campaigning consisted of driving around town with his signs.

Ed Durr came from the same mold.

64 An epic tale to be sure, but he clearly is wrong about "rights". I guess we'll see, but at most, 49.999% of Jersey voters rebelled against guvamint "messing with their families". Thus, Gov. Murphy, again (if that's how it turns out).

So, unintentionally, he nicely highlights the big picture stunner of the last 2 years. A country that, largely, both institutionally and in terms of popular behavior *and voting*, simply does *not* care that much about "rights".

Or massive racist protests and riots.
Or shutting down the oil industry. Or having a border. Or .....

He sniped a lazy state legislative baron, which is glorious. But his analysis on this particular point is not persuasive.

TJM,
One of the problems with the GOPe who runs most state and local party committees (and even more so at the natl level) is the predominance of 'campaign consultants'. These consultants are generally leeches and the local and state GOPe sells them as a complete package to candidates and the devil in the details is that the party organization will help you if you play ball with fundraising, etc. but you have to accept their 'help'. They simply luvv wealthy self funded candidates to fleece but even a local council critter or county commissioner is required to kiss the ring and hire who they say. In truth, the consultants dominate the party organization rather than vice versa. That is why you get few authentic outsiders--they have to build their own organization to win.

Not at all. Elizabeth Warren is very smart. She's also well read and understands her chosen battle field (financial policy) very well indeed. I followed Warren's early career when she was still a rising star. She knows what she's talking about, is smart enough to understand it and has the context and history to be one of the few politicians who isn't just a dull-normal villain.

This is why I hate Warren so much. She's a monster. She can't claim to be stupid or ignorant or duped. She knows better, and she behaves like a villain anyway. She's not some idiotic loudmouth like Mad Maxine, she's a sophisticated evildoer. She isn't a dumbass, she's evil. And that makes her in the bottom echelon of the demons in Washington. She's awful. 129 "Throttling reach" is how Leftwing Tech Monopolists/Thought Stasi Agents stop conservative websites from getting their message out without taking the obvious step of simply deplatforming them completely. They put in special code, for example, into a search algorithm which excludes relevant conservative pages in favor of less-relevant (and less popular) leftwing propaganda pages.

They also manipulate their "reccommendatioN" algorithms. If you keep writing about Fusion GPS, a fair and neutral algorithm would suggest stories about Fusion GPS, the bulk of which would be critical of Fusion GPS. But they go in and insert special code to stop the natural results of the algorithm and force it to recommend only stories that push FusionGPS propaganda or are puff pieces about the company.

190 129 "Throttling reach" is how Leftwing Tech Monopolists/Thought Stasi Agents stop conservative websites from getting their message out without taking the obvious step of simply deplatforming them completely.

191 That sidebar thing about Wuhan Flu deaths in Italy... I think as time goes on this will quietly happen around the world. THe EU and Great Britain already did it earlier this year, greatly reducing official death tolls. From the article:

All the other Italians who lost their lives had from between one and five pre-existing diseases. Of those aged over 67 who died, 7% had more than three co-morbidities, and 18% at least two

According to the Institute, 65.8% of Italians who died after being infected with Covid were ill with arterial hypertension (high blood pressure), 23.5% had dementia, 29.3% had diabetes, and 24.8% atrial fibrillation. Add to that, 17.4% had lung problems, 16.3% had had cancer in the last five years and 15.7% suffered from previous heart failures.

Basically they were counting every death in that time period and calling it Wuhan Flu, because they had the virus in them.

2. The district is fairly small, so he could go door-knocking and making in-person pitches and the potential to steal was reduced.

The $600 will trigger the IRS threshold for reviewing your bank account for any fraudulent activity (in perpetuity). 375 JEM, Sullivan is the most prominent current official actually directly tarred by all this, AFAIK (and I long ago stopped following every twist and turn, preferring to wait for outputs from Durham). And even in his case, pretty easy to see him claiming he was just passing on info he was given (unless they can prove he was part of the effort to instigate/manufacture it all).

"And what'd the FBI do? Covered it up and went after Trump." - which everyone who's followed it has known for years ..... but finding criminal liability within the FBI is not the same as recognizing that they were obviously, and outrageously, manufacturing a scandal (or pretending to investigate one).

"Reasonable investigative discretionary decisions" - if the jaw-dropping malfeasance in the Clinton Espionage Act scandal can pass muster with the IG, then most of the RUSSIA! decisions can easily be portrayed as reasonable calls on the field.

Brennan and the intel people have even better, more cushiony layers of protection in terms of just doing their job (unless, again, concrete evidence is found of their knowingly pursuing false information/leads).

SHARYL ATTKISSON: https://bit.ly/3wkzXIz

The vaccine mandate will be enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) through a measure known as an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS). The ETS was made public this morning and some of the key highlights are noted below:

-- Unvaccinated employees must be tested once per week and wear face coverings inside the workplace
-- Employees working remotely or who work in the outdoors, will not be subject to the testing requirements
-- Employers will not be required to pay for testing in some cases
-- Mandatory masking of unvaccinated employees effective December 4
-- Mandatory testing effective January 4

Right, but meanwhile, companies all across the country are putting mandates into effect. Ford Motor Company just this week announced their mandate. I anticipate GM and Stellantis will follow suit.

Biden and the Great Reset fuckers don't need this to go into effect. Every corporation is doing it themselves. This is why counting on the courts to do anything doesn't matter. Every American worker is going to be forced within the next 2 months to make a decision of getting a dangerous shot or losing their job.

From what I recollect, the father owned some internet business and sold it to an odd firm that apparently came out of nowhere but the owner was a leftie apparat type. Then Drudge apparently sold whatever clicks, etc. to the same company. To this day, it is still unclear who is actually operating the site and has control over content.

Notice that Matt Drudge is basically in witness protection whereas before he would circulate a bit, not much, but a bit.

She would have to do a David Brock but to leftists, she would be pre-cancelled due to upset over her previous public statements. Wokeness on college campuses allows no redemption for past sins. Essentially, you are allowed a bit of youthful flirting with the right like Brock, Frum, French, etc. but not a sustained career with evil Republican support--even for milk toast conservatives like Romney or Christie.

Uh, duh, because nobody thought some blue collar trucker from NJ would beat the establishment guy who's been in the Senate forever. Trials are boring as hell, they jazz them up tremendously in dramas, but still skip 90% of the proceedings so they only show the hot, exciting parts. Its mostly really dull, slow, plodding crap. Thankfully I haven't been on a jury for a while now.

"I could probably spend an hour answering this question because I don't know that escapism is a good thing," Kimmel said during the news network's virtual Citizen Conference.

"Maybe it's like when you have a pressure cooker, and you let a little of the steam out, it never really blows. And maybe we need to blow," added Kimmel, who frequently slammed former President Trump on his ABC show.

505 I usually watch Perry Mason on late night TV. I love the '50's quality of cars, clothes, and lingo. Even when the story is corny as hell, the interactions between Mason, Street, Drake, Trag, and the DA Burger are fun to watch.

The real story of Raymond Burr is very interesting. He apparently was gay but claimed for years to be straight and of having a former wife and son. The studios would set him up with beautiful movie stars as beards for those days. He eventually married the man he loved and I believe when he died, they had a big ranch in Sonoma County.

Go figure that calling voters "racists" will eventually convince them to look elsewhere for representation. You don't have to be "highly educated" to comprehend derision and contempt, although education has apparently been a hindrance to that realization until recently.

I tried to like soccer, because I figure hell, hundreds of millions of people around the world are super excited by it. And its just dull. Sometimes there is an interesting shot, but in a game where you score d6 times between both teams... not a lot. And the flopping!

Best thing I can say about soccer is that its over quick. No commercial breaks, and its done in just over an hour.

I'm betting Sweeney hasn't knocked on a door in ages. That shit works. We had a guy running for Congress here back in the 1990s and he won by simply knocking on doors all day long.

525 The reason Murphy came so close to beong ousted is that polls showed him leading Jack by 15 points, so a lot of Democrat voters stayed home.

But so did a lot of conservative voters.

So you can say that if more Republicans had voted --which would have happened if polls (like Virginia) showed them neck and neck-- Jack might have won.
But if the polls showed it close, the Democrats would have turned on their Cheat Machines EARLY--instead of late, Murph would have won big.

But they turned the Cheat Machines on late, just in the nick of time.

530 @ 451. The pipeline fight is now elevated to a federal level, after Whitmer and Enbridge, the corporate owner of pipeline 5, couldn't agree to end the impasse. Canada invoked a treaty saying the US cannot terminate an operating pipeline crucial to their oil shipments.

According to Enbridge, Line 5 delivers 540 thousand barrels per day (kbpd) of crude oil and natural gas liquids, provides 45% of the gas, diesel, jet fuel, and propane used in the region it serves, supplies 55% of Michigan's propane demand, and ships 80% of Michigan-produced crude oil. It also connects oil production in Western Canada with refining assets and demand in the country's Eastern regions. (via Motley Fool)

552 The judge in that Arbery case in GA (the case where the known thief was caught running from an under-construction house he'd been in, trailed and then shot dead when he tried to take the gun away from one of the guys following him) announced that the defense attorneys had "intentionally discriminated" against black members of the jury pool.

Asshole judge basically accused the defense counsel of being white raaaaaacists. All they did was do their jobs. The trial is taking place in a county that is 27% black, and where the jury pool was 25% black. They seated one black man, but excused 8 black potential jurors because those people said they believed the defendants were guilty and had targeted Arbery because of his race.

Defense counsel are supposed to strike potential jurors for cause when they indicate they can't be objective. That's what happened here. It would have been malpractice for the defense lawyers to let people like that be seated on the jury -- no matter what color they are. The judge knows that, but still made racially incendiary comments anyway. He is a jerk who should be sanctioned and removed from the case.

The italian re- defining of a covid death would be a bigger deal if we knew the composition of the baseline italian population. They state that only 4000 died of covid alone and did not have a single other comorbidity. Hypertension, obesity, diabetes, cancer, dementia, etc. 130,000 to 4000 is approximately 32:1.
If the base population of Italians is that 1 of 32 does not have any comorbidity, the redefining would mean nothing. Covid killed equally. If the base population is 1 in 5 has No comorbidity, it would be meaningful, covid would be more likely to kill if you had a comorbidity.

Her husband, also a law professor, is a 'poverty expert.' He's out there talking and writing books about policy that is designed to raise people up from poverty while he and Lizzie were buying foreclosed homes and flipping them for a ticy profit.

583 @525

>>But they turned the Cheat Machines on late, just in the nick of time.

It's all about the mail in voting.

It creates an unregulated universe of ballots and opportunities for cheating.

They're still "counting" ballots in Donk counties and can continue counting until the 8th.

Unless and until the GOP makes, and I mean, really makes, election integrity a hill to die on then we are going stupid sh*t like 3am vote dumps.

584 534 I'm a soccer convert. I just couldn't take anymore woke and racist NBA, woke and unpatriotic NFL and woke and steroidal MLB. So I switched to Premier League soccer and love it.

585 They've been building their empire for a long time, long before 2016. If we want our country back we have to tear it all out.

Trump's blind spot was at DOJ. That's going to be hard to fix. We need an AG with the balls to keep his thumb on the Fibbies and emphasize their blatant commitment to Obama's agenda at every opportunity.

586 Americans hate soccer because they spend most of their time flopping around like a fish out of water.
Might as well go fishing.

Asian league soccer doesn't do flopping, because they play for blood and for revenge for centuries of invasion and warfare, and flopping puts you at kicking level

587 Oh come now. newark had the 40.5K votes set aside for this eventuality. 100% is not 100% when you have 40K votes just waiting to dump. Warning to Dems. 40K will not be enough in 2022. and if you get caught, one of us may just shoot first.

588 The rich think there are too many of us, and that it is bad for the planet. If they reduce the world's population to a half billion or so, they figure it will be just right. They're saving the world you see, by eliminating most of humanity.

the planet reached a billion about 1800, prior to that there were too few to maintain an industrial economy

590 521 When coal plants and pipelines in the US and Canada are shut down it's not just the local state that is affected, look at where their excess power is sold, like Texas, and remember the problems last winter.
It won't be only the northern tier that suffers.
One large coal plant manager from ND said only 25% of his plant had been vaccinated. When the employees are forced to leave their jobs the work experience and power will go with them.

I think that many governors will discover the 10th Amendment before they let their states literally freeze.

Many.......not all.

OK prosecutor, tell that to St.Peter when you're at the gate.

594 What was far more interesting was the usual theft/kabuki dance of ballots in Essex county NJ. Proving once again it doesn't matter who votes, it matters who counts the votes.

Suckers.
