The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

The United States Constitution is clear. The President is the commander in chief of the armed forces. The framers of the Constitution knew what they were doing...ensuring civilian control of our military, which meant ultimately that the people controlled the military.

Article II, Section 2, Clause 1:

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

But three generations of a slow and steady degradation of our officers corps, primarily those who are political appointees, has created a situation similar to the civilian Deep State^TM, in which unelected and unaccountable senior officers act in a manner counter to the express wishes of the Commander in Chief.

Milley, Army chief displayed 'pattern of behavior' defying authority: former senior military official

In an interview with Fox News Digital, E. Casey Wardynski, a former assistant secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs under the Trump administration, accused high-ranking military officials Milley and McConville of making statements that insinuated they were calling the shots.

There is a long and storied tradition among honorable military men; if you disagree with your civilian superiors you have the option to resign. But you do not have the option to disobey, or to subvert civilian control of the military and conduct foreign policy.

But the current chairman of the joint chiefs seems to have done both! And he doesn't even have a long and successful record on which to base his disagreements with civilian authority. It is becoming clear that it is simply arrogance coupled with stupidity.

Milley is a hack. There is no other way to describe him. His military decisions were catastrophically bad, and his leadership may be even worse...pushing an aggressive post-modern lunacy on the military in direct opposition to its clearly understood function. Placing divisive racial theories at the heart of the nation's military is a recipe for disaster. But unlike many of his predecessors, he has no martial spirit, no honor, and is driven by a craven desire for power and control, which has come at the expense of many good men and has resulted in America's defeat in Afghanistan.

For that alone he should resign in disgrace, but his efforts to undermine his superior, the President of The United States, is even more serious, and requires an investigation, court martial, and if found guilty, prison.

My wife was at her GF's place in NE Texas several years ago and was helping clean up the property. She moved a plow disk and there was the biggest cottonmouth she'd ever seen. She went into the house and got the .22 rifle. She unloaded the rifle on it.

The guy stated that the P-47 did have that range at the time with it's already available drop tanks, but when sending the P-47s to England the brass decided not to send the tanks. Eh, this isn't really a shocker. When you sign your papers, you're in essence signing over your body to the needs and readiness of the military. If they consider the vax part of that, you're getting the shot.

Also, this isn't particularly well known but once you're under a doctor's care, he/she essentially becomes your commanding officer for the duration of your treatment. It's not usually pushed, but there it is.

On very rare occasion, if some a-hole was making a lot of problems about their treatment. They got to spend some time in the brig.

The military ain't civilian life.

270 My comment about Milley "going rouge" is my gut feeling that if he saw an opening to insert himself as the transition from *biden to (presumably) Harris starts he'd take it. I predicate that on the possibility that there are strong signals and movements apace to remove Harris from the picture before she can assume the White House. Milley has demonstrated he'll do what the fuck he wants so I don't see this a "remote" possibility... unlikely, but not impossible.

Should there be a power struggle between leftist factions over the White House I do believe Milley would launch a coup; "to restore order."

I think it is necessary now to realize that Milley is likely the RULE, and not the exception, among Flag officers. This is the military we have now. Although this came out in the "Woodward" book, my understanding is that his actions were approved by Congressional civilian leadership.
In other words, he ain't goin' nowhere. And even if he was, Austin and Biden (or whoever manages the meat puppet president) would have someone as bad or worse (by standards of AoS) in there to replace him.

Every officer who is promoted to general or admiral has their name passed among select members of both the House and Senate Armed Services committees. Any check mark against and they don't get the star.
This means that every officer needs to have had at least one previous tour in the Pentagon or in the military staffer positions on the Hill. They need to know how the budget works and how contracting works. They need to be political.
Being able to lead soldiers annd sailors is a plus, but not necessary at this point in their careers.

Those numbers are total bullshit because they're counting those less than two weeks out from their last shot as "unvaccinated". Also, some hospitals made a policy of not testing the jabbed at all, when they thought they could get away with it.

How about bulldog vs greyhound? The Jug had all the subtlety of a nine pound hammer. I'm sure it's not accurate in any technical sense but I like to think that the P-47 was the spiritual ancestor of the F-4 whereas the P-51 was that of the F-16.

I've seen them close up. the P-47 is a BIG airplane, with a double radial engine.

I once knew a guy that flew P-51's in WWII, with the 8th Air Force. He was a pretty hot pilot, and not a big guy. I was told the P-51 was really easy to fly.
The P-38, I was told, was like driving a truck.
Moreso the P-47.

I never was into model trains or planes much; cars and sailing ships were more my thing, and subs. I painted and built a few planes, the Focke-Wulf and the Ford Trimotor. Most of my model efforts went into cars, figures like the Aurora monster models, etc.

I've never even thought of that, but it has to be a lot of people. Someone goes to the hospital for I don't know, a kidney stone, is tested, is WuFlu positive.....it gets counted as a WuFlu hospitalization.

Raw aircraft speed is determined by thrust force minus drag force. A P-47 at mid-altitude and higher probably outran a V-1170 Allison-powered P-51.

Heard something the other day from an old pursuit pilot that flew both the P47 and P51.

He said that a pilot flew the engine on a P51 and he flew the plane in a P47.

The radial engines were designed for combat.
