DeSantis to Biden: "Why Don't You Do Your Job? Why Don't You Get This Border Secure? And Until You Do That, I Don't Want to Hear a Blip About Covid From You"

Firey but mostly peaceful protest.

Cernovich's comment here will be controversial and I'm not linking this for that, just for the video itself. This is a longer clip of DeSantis' response to Biden, which contains, at the end, the last two clips posted above. But the first three quarters of it is new material. The clip is great.

A report says that 13% of the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens Biden is ushering into the heartland of America (and not, say, Martha's Vinyard or New York City or the Hamptons) carry covid.

But he's serious about "shutting down the virus," you guys.

You want me off the Trump Train and on the DeSantis Express? Have him arrest the NGO members on human trafficking charges. If the feds try to stop him, jail them too. Otherwise it's just rhetoric, and not even Trump sized rhetoric.

There seems to be a movement of anti-Trump sentiment among "conservatives". Sort of like getting pissed at your parents if dad loses his job and now you don't get your new bike. Trump made a lot of mistakes, but he also did something nobody else did. He'll always have my respect for that. And I'm not deluded enough to think if DeSantis made the WH the same shit wouldn't befall him. At least he knows what to look for, Trump was blindsided.

Some are simply on the take. I imagine Coulter was answering some very tough questions when her support for Trump contributed materially to his victory.

Even without Coulter, Cernovich, and countless cabinet members, Trump got the most votes of any Republican ever. And everyone knows that Biden needed fraud for his Obama-sized "landslide" in popular votes.

106 DeSantis has only gotten better with time. He has used every auspice of the Florida government to fight back. When local liberal jurisdictions have tried to stop his agenda, he used all his power to crush them. Mask mandates, COVID restrictions and now the Florida Department of Education which is going to allow people to take their kids and money elsewhere. He has put good, loyal, capable people in important positions. He's worked effectively with the legislature. There is a reason experience as a governor serves you well in other offices. I know Republicans have often dissapointed us. But I see little in DeSantis' record that makes me think he's going to flip a switch and go in reverse. He's exactly what our country needs right now.

This is the way forward, education dollars need to be decoupled from school systems and tethered to the individual child.

You do that and then you will really have school choice.

And it will also force the leftist school systems to moderate to compete for dollars.

171 106 DeSantis has only gotten better with time.

179 Maybe it's because there hasn't been much common sense lately, but all DeSantis is saying is pretty much what any normal person is thinking these days. It's pretty telling.

180 38 DeSantis is definitely more careful with his words. Trump was always being taken literally by an intentionally obtuse media when it suited them. I believe Trump has been smeared by the LSM with enough success that he can't win in 2024. But deSantis doesn't have Trump's history of either sexual behavior or bluster which are what the media seized on to smear him, so he should not be as vulnerable.

Besides, Trump has taken on a newer role which will be quite valuable -- using his personal PAC to effectively purge the RINOs from the GOP, a thing both parties need to do but are prevented from doing themselves by the laws about how the parties must be governed. I really think Trump will be much more effective if he adopts that as his permanent role.

All public discussion is controlled by one side with an iron grip that stalin would have envied. The change will have to come bottom up. No Trump/DeathSanta will ever be enough. The left does what they do with a brainless joke at the helm. Because they control everything else that matters for obtaining and keeping the power they crave.

231 171 Darrell Harris,
The GOPe follows the corporations are our friendz line because that is where the money is to fund GOPe. Multinational corporations basically view the wealth of the US as something to be exploited--see the record trade deficit in June for example of 75 billion dollars. Those dollars are sent overseas to be returned as investments by buying up US assets to exploit. Our financiers make money off the churn as they take a cut of financial flows going and coming, speculate on currency differentials, etc. Our manufacturers make money by shipping the jobs abroad and returning the products to the US because of cheaper labor. And so on. Then there is China inc which has bought the love of Washington based politicians, corporations, our universities, and our media.

249 When some see the results of the Next Great Hope as their ass and family get run through the mega ringer, many may finally see Trump in an entirely different light.

It has nothing to do with being perfect.

It's incredible that people *still* can't see what Trump was and did. But again I suspect most of these weren't early Trump adopters and in fact may have gotten been dragged kicking and screaming and/or were just shirt changing fair weather fans.

250 Right, DeSantis has a much stronger power base to work from in FL. Trump basically had himself and a handful of actual loyalists when he was in DC. That's it. I'm not convinced that DeSantis could do any better in the big chair than Trump did. In fact, if he did find a way to ascend (highly unlikely), I bet he'd be thwarted much more than even Trump was.

Take a moment to see how we are being trampled at the moment. Then realize how much of that is being done due to Executive Power and agencies of the Executive Branch. There was a plan, the people they picked from day one knew exactly what to do and how to do it. Trump never grasped that part of the bureaucracy, nor did he ever fully harness it. That includes agencies like DoJ and the FBI. DeSantis won't make that mistake.

Keep in mind the legislative branch has also ceded power to the Executive Branch and it shows. Trump's problems were that he didn't understand the game and he had to react to every insult. He was like a caged animal with people poking him with sticks. He tried to steam roll everyone and eventually just ran out of momentum.

The talk prior to 2020 was that there was going to be a blue wave that gained Dem seats in the House. The projections estimated as many as 15. Instead, the GOP gained 15 seats. I think that was why they made the decision to dump ballots in key counties: they could afford Trump in the WH another four years if Pelosi and Schumer held Congress, but Trump winning and carrying the GOP back into power would have been seen as a validation of Trumpism.

When Trump is on the ballot the GOP does well.

334 267 Mister Scott,
Scott Walker got national publicity in 2010-11. What did Walker in was his GOPe finance people that persuaded him to embrace open borders for his presidential campaign. Trump was the only one of the GOP prezzie candidates in 2016 that was unequivocal about it.

Walker also hired Liz Mair as his social media guru. That is one of the problems that GOPe brings to the table, almost every campaign manager, campaign staffers, finance and legal, etc. are from the left of the Republican base because of the reliance on corporate money. That is also why the Republican candidates rely so much on radio/tv spots, campaign mailers, endless donation solicitations, etc. The campaign apparatus of 'approved' candidates are rife with grifters that are allied with the state and national officers of the GOP. The destruction from inside of the College Republicans is an example of how the insiders try to seize all power and money. That is why the voters are left with people that mouth the right things but like Noem, perpetually disappoint in office.

There are many people who know how to crush the bureaucracy beginning with the budget. You cut their funding and all of a sudden people start to get the message. Sydney Morning Herald; April 27, 2003 10.00am

Retailers who cash in on community fears about SARS by exaggerating the health benefits of surgical masks could face fines of up to $110,000.

NSW Fair Trading Minister Reba Meagher yesterday warned that distributors and traders could be prosecuted if it was suggested the masks offered unrealistic levels of protection from the disease.

"I'm sure everyone would agree that it is un-Australian to profiteer from people's fears and anxieties," Ms Meagher said.

"There appears to be some debate about whether surgical masks are able to minimise the effects of SARS."

"Penalties can range from fines of up to $22,000 for an individual or $110,000 for a corporation," she said.

Health authorities have warned that surgical masks may not be an effective protection against the virus.

"Those masks are only effective so long as they are dry," said Professor Yvonne Cossart of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University of Sydney.

Professor Cossart said that could take as little as 15 or 20 minutes, after which the mask would need to be changed. But those warnings haven't stopped people snapping up the masks, with retailers reporting they are having trouble keeping up with demand.

Well, we know for an absolute fact the masks don't work so let the fining of the government begin!

The entire mess that Trump made of picking the wrong people started with sessions. Problem was session backed Trump from day 1 when no one else would and Trump like any businessman rewards loyalty. I suspect it was a set up to get Trump to pick him for AG if he actually won and then sessions could screw him from the start. He only "resigned" because if he didn't he was going to get fired and I am pretty sure he and Trump had quite the chat about what his letter was going to say.

412 349 Colorado Alex,
I know quite a few of those people and most of the campaign staffers are not from elite schools but suburbia instead. The finance and legal are more likely to have elite schooling.

The issue is that if your job depends on getting along with donors who do often reflect elites, the donors drive the campaign and its messaging. Campaign staff also look for job advancement in their career and being out of step with their colleagues is likely to hinder being able to take future jobs if the party apparatus despises you. For example, none of Trump's 2016 primary staffers were A team but the enthusiasm for the candidate derived from the primary voters wanting something different which mattered.

The ironic issue is that true grass roots campaigns have a combination of savvy insiders and true idealists. However, the true idealists get pushed out over time by the insiders and grifters.

I'll just leave this link here showing the crappy little disposable one time use masks shedding fibers like a mofo and once again say that I suspect we'll see a big increase in fiber-related lung cancers in ten years or so because people are wearing the same mask for 8+ hours a day, every day a week, for weeks at a time.

"The researchers tested a wide range of mask products and found that nearly all would increase the daily intake of microplastic fibres during wear because of their relatively fragile structure...

The institutes study also found that reused masks produced more loosened fibres."

The whole noble savage part comes from far earlier--for example see Rousseau's treatment versus that of Hobbes. Hobbes has the better part of the argument. The truth is that the environment improves when a country is richer as does life for the average citizen. The noble savage bit is embraced by twits in the mid and upper classes because secretly they long for something to bring the current system down.

I do wish he or a proxy would relentlessly attack the Fake Scienz that he obviously understands is fake, and occasionally alludes to.

He has hired and regularly consults people who were independent voices of actual science and common sense all along - he has the technical grasp to savage this (increasingly ludicrous) nonsense.

It is not about politix. Or emotion. It's about actually helping the country by destroying falsehoods that are materially damaging it. When Trump trashed the Paris Accords, it was a big mistake to use the lame "wasn't a good deal for America" rationale, instead of dismissing the false basis for it (AGW). The AGW nonsense, and now this parody of "public health" policy, *are serious threats to the prosperity and freedom of the US, and need to be exterminated*, which they can be, having no scientific basis.

I think Trump has him by the short hairs, and it's pretty obvious. When she started ranting about impeaching Trump, suddenly the articles started coming out that McCarthy was hanging out with Luntz with some distinct implications and then Cheney was out.

Trump backing McCarthy is the best indication that he got him under his thumb because he wasn't doing that in January. Something changed, but you know, it's not up to your standards.
