GAINZZZ and Keto BOMBZZZ

@thesarahkelly

*whispers* complimenting people on their weight loss is inherently fatphobic. There is no way to do it that doesn't imply that their body was less worthy when it was bigger/softer. Find something else to compliment.

"The" Sarah Kelly then opined that "anti-fatness is a perpetration and enforcement perpetuated by white supremacist beauty standards."

Your weakness is my strength. As always, I will take her whining and use it to make GAINZZZ:

fatshamingmotivation2.jpg

I'm still on my semi-fast. I'm coming up on the four week mark. I've continued to lose, albeit slowly, lately.

One big advantage to ketosis is the crazy levels of energy you have. Glucose -- energy derived from carbohydrate -- just doesn't give you a lot of energy. Maybe after you've had a lot of sugar, but then only for an hour. Then your body pumps out insulin and to clear the excess glucose out of your blood, either to your muscles, if you're exercising, or your fat cells, if you're not.

But ketones liberated from fat-burning really amp you up as far as bodily energy. And they're not kept in a tight range, as glucose is. So once you're burning fat, you can feel pretty hyper.

Five years ago I didn't have energy and also couldn't concentrate on reading so I made an appointment with a psychiatrist for the first time, and got him to prescribe adderall for me. I mean, I didn't lie about my symptoms. They were real. I did, maybe, say some things to convince him I had some kind of adult-onset ADD. Which doesn't exist. But I mean-- I really did have a focus problem. Just probably not the kind of attention deficit disorder that ADD is prescribed for. Like a Google-and-Twitter caused attention deficit disorder.

I bring that up to establish that I know what adderall feels like, and I can attest, ketones in the bloodstream feel just like adderall. I'm getting a lot of chore-stuff done just because I'm always looking to do something. And it's free. And non-addictive.

I'm told by people that ketosis really gives people a lot more mental focus. But I've unfortunately not experienced that effect. I don't lose focus, but I don't gain any, either.

I'm past the "feeling hyper" phase, but I have a lot of energy. I'm always up and down and doing chores.

Can the keto people back me up on the bodily energy claim? And does anyone actually feel better mental focus?

Last week a commenter mentioned he was having trouble getting his daily fat on his keto diet. The keto diet is supposed to be 75%-85% calories from fat, which is actually pretty hard to manage.

I mentioned to him something I'd long seen recommended but only this year became a fan of -- keto "fat bombs."

They're snacks that are about 90% fat.

For example, these simple cheesecake fat bombs. Here's a white chocolate cheesecake fat bomb variation. I made a kind of white chocolate fat bomb with cacao butter and coconut oil, which was also good.

I've made coconut fat bombs, but I want to make these Almond-Joy style fat bombs. (Actually, I'd skip the almonds, and make Mounds fat bombs.)

I'm going to make more of a real white chocolate fat bomb when I get off the semi-fast.

Chocolate peanut butter fat bombs are also very popular.

But what I really want to make are Reece's peanut butter cup style fat bombs.

They're good because most people do not eat enough fat on the keto diet. And most people do want to snack sometimes. And most people miss sweet things and deserts. The keto bomb checks all three boxes.

Keto bombs aren't something anyone should eat unless they're on a low carb diet. If you're low carb, you'll burn the fat for energy. If you're still eating carbs, the body will burn the glucose from the carbs preferentially, and just send the fat your consume to fat cells.

But if you're low carb, they won't add weight. Unless you eat them in great excess, which you probably won't, because fat is naturally satiating.

I have no READING GAINZZZ, alas.

So what about you guys? Tell me about your GAINZZZ, cuz!

And also, what BOOKZZZ you're reading, and what PROJECTZZZ you're starting.

Sorry, I misheard it's PGM: People of the Global Majority, emphasizing that whites are in the minority and should, therefore know their place.

Which is actually really insidious. There's some supremacist, goose-stepping vocabulary if I ever heard it. It's gone from categorizing and pigeonholing people which is bad enough, to now, clearly laying out their overall caste structure.

This is what your kids will be taught in college now.

60 I bought a keto fat bomb the other day called Keto Krisp. I am not sure when I am going to drop it. I am still not sold on Keto because I don't think I can do it forever. I have gone low carb for sometime, mixed in with weeks or good carbs and it has been ok. I have probably dropped 40 in the last couple of years. The key is I have kept it off.

Today I had oatmeal and eggs, always eggs. And then fajitas with tiny tortillas and pinto beans. For sure this was a non keto day, but i got me some fiber big time.

Intermittent fasting is hit or miss with me. I now understand why you can go several days, for sure two days is doable. There are times you are hungry and other times when you simply are not. But I have learned that if you eat carbs at all, you will gain back around 5 pounds almost over night. When you drop the carbs, and really all other food, you are going to spill off a five pounds of water weight.

that is the hill I will die on. I still have pasta once a week. I try to actually realize what a serving size means. Also, many say Semolina pasta is less glycemic, particularly if you cook it truly al dente. I am ready to believe them.

The Italians, historically, ate pasta as a side dish, or a dish that came before the main dish. We came up with a huge plate of spaghetti as a standard meal.

We used to have oatmeal, the bad kind growing up. Cereal was hit and miss, my mom didn't allow the bad stuff. But I have gotten back into cereal over the years, it is comforting as part of a breakfast. Trust me I eat eggs until I they come out my ears. But some cereal on the side adds to it.

I think a lot of this is just BS to get people to read the latest commentary. It can't be that hard to come up with a real answer. I am not talking carcinogens or whatever, but whether the body perceives no cal artificial sweeteners as sugar or not.

235 I think a "cheat day" is the worst idea in the world. However you need to be able to break your diet at times and remember really nice food. Just do it sparingly.

One, your body gets used to a diet and I think while it may not do good in the short term to "break" one, it's probably also not the worst thing in the world.

Two, mentally it's extremely difficult to stick to a diet longer than 6 months to a year. Although it may be very good discipline to be rigid about it, eventually most normal people slip.

Posted by: vmom stabby stabby stabby stabamillion at June 18, 2021 06:40 PM (oEn12)

I think cutting sugar is one of the best things one can do for Crohn's. I'm sure there's other things including something called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I get most of my protein from meat and cheese.

I've been theorizing about gut bacteria being heavily involved in Crohn's for the last 15 years. And the science (real science) has been trending that way for the last 10.

I see a lot of stuff in advance - I just wish I had seen that these assholes were going to steal the election come hell or high water. I know they always try but I really fooled myself into thinking there was a realistic limit on the amount of fraud they could perpetrate.

290 "When they got around to discussing Park's experience at the now 'Woke' Columbia University brought Peterson to tears at how so has been lost"

I love Peterson but tears are not the proper emotional response to this. There was a time when it was noble to use force to protect our values. it's not noble to cry about losing what we didn't have the will to defend. Is this simply more failure theatre?

Noonan has gone wobbly but she had a good article named "Welcome Back Duke. Duke Is Back." About newlyweds on their honeymoon, swimming in the ocean when a shark attacks the wife. They husband punched the shark to save her "...he punched it and punched it again. He did not do brilliant commentary on the shark, he did not share his sensitive feelings about the shark, he did not make wry observations about the shark, he punched the shark in the head. So the shark let go of his wife and went straight for him. And it killed him. The wife survived to tell the story of what her husband had done. "

I am trying to imagine the reverse - he lacked the will to act and the shark killed him. Now he's at her funeral, in tears. Doomed to die a thousand times.

I will have it now and then. I recall having it often traveling in Europe. Some would be aghast, but you can't sit down to a three hour French lunch every day. Sometimes you just need to eat something. And yes, I called Mcd's a "fat bomb" years ago. People knew what they were getting. After a night on the town, sometimes you simply need fat bomb.

my problem with fast food is after you are done, it usually seems so vapid. The food is bad, you don't feel good, and the service usually sucks. Not judging here, I have had my share over the years. I just don't like it as much these days.

It is good to (1) understand your current situation, (2) have a path to improve, and (3) be realistic about your chances of success. And not spread out your resources in ways that diminish your chance of success.
Yamamoto at Midway commited thw same mistakes as Custer at the Little Big Horn and Pulliene at Isandhlwana. He assumed where the enemy would be, underestimated their numbers and actions, and divided his forces into small groups incapable of supporting each other. The fact that the US Navy was reading a percentage of his communications didn't help; but he still chose the way of pain.
