AMD's server market share grew in Q1 at the fastest pace in 15 years. (Tom's Hardware)

AMD's overall CPU market share for the quarter declined slightly, because while they sold every chip they could make, they couldn't make enough.

Intel meanwhile has its own fabs. They might be stuck a generation behind, for the most part, but they don't have to fight Apple for access to production capacity.

Meanwhile I just checked online stock at two Australian PC stores and both had the full Ryzen 5000 range listed. The higher end models (12 and 16 cores) are limited to one per customer, but they are at least available.

20 I got a 2009 iMac with a terabit drive from eBay. The associated mouse and keyboard do not work. But I have 20 year old keyboards and mice that do work.

I plan to change the OS to Linux Mint, with a Brave browser, and turn that into my online computer.

The one I am using now will be for offline writing and business plans. The Cloud and online computers are too vulnerable.

29 I sort of hope the "chip shortage" gets resolved soon. My son's Ford Focus needs a controller of some sort for the transmission. No ETA on the back ordered part(s). In the meantime he's shafted with out of pocket expenses for a rental. Car's not under warranty anymore.

Sure, gold for sure has. One of the major London banks pleaded out and paid a huge fine for price fixing; they are one of the market makers. They literally set the daily spot price. Silver follows along in gold's footprint for the most part.

The world is awash in cash. If you've noticed, currency exchange rates are relatively stable, while the money printing presses are running flat out. That's cuz they all have 'agreements'. So gold and silver will likely have to go up to soak up some of the excess. As do stocks, commodities, crypto... It's game on.

46 So, today, my wife and I have a "virtual home inspection" as we're looking into changing insurance carriers.

I downloaded and installed the app on a tablet, per the instructions of the guy I'd be dealing with and then asked if he wanted to test the app before we went live.

Turned me down said they'd wait until today.

Strike one. As a former IT guy, I know better than to assume something like this is going to work. Heck, I've tested stuff, successfully, the day before it's supposed to go live, and still had it break the day of.
