John Cornyn: Hey, Let's Pass "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" Piece by Piece and See if We Can Sneak It Past the Rubes That Way

The Republicans who represent corporations and not you are back with a new version on comprehensive immigration reform.

They think that if they just pass it piece by piece, you'll be too stupid to notice and too craven to do something about it even if you did notice.

It's actually worse than you might first thing, because "comprehensive" immigration reform, in granting the racial-reconquista left everything they wanted, at least offered some money for border protection as a trivial, gestural sop to the right.

But note that John Cornyn is ditching the idea of even any fig leafs of border protection for the right.

He's now just pushing the idea of voting with the Democrats for each of the Democrats' open borders plan one item at a time, but without any of the meager sops to the right that were supposed to be part of a "grand bargain."

Is Cornyn going to demand that the Democrats re-instate Trump's remain in Mexico policy in exchange for this newest Amnesty pitch?

How about his First Safe Country policy? (That is, when someone claims to be a political asylum migrant, they must apply for asylum in the first safe country they cross -- not just keep demanding that the US is the only place they're willing to take asylum in.)

Of course not.

This is just straight-up amnesty, no chaser. Nothing for those who want the endless invasion to finally stop.

Had enough yet?

Is everyone super-psyched to vote for the Corporate Party in 2022?

Is everyone fully satisfied that if we just "vote harder" and give power to people who hate us and wish to replace us, they'll "get the message" and start obeying our wishes?

I hate to be a nihilist, and I know despair is a sin (and there is plenty of secular argument for that idea, too), but I really do not see what our other choices are.

Are we supposed to continue pretending that the GOP represents us, or that it is "opposition" to the corporate socialist God-State in any meaningful way?

The corporate liberals of the GOP, the Bushies, the Rockefeller Republicans, the RINOs, proved not just that they were capable of sitting out an election in order to "teach the deplorables a lesson," they were eager to do so.

I don't see any alternative to proving that we, too, can tank an election and put the Democrats into office if we -- the greater part of the party -- are not respected.

I am not part of any movement that exists solely so that John Cornyn can take bribes from the US Chamber of Commerce and Google and have a nice, easy sinecure for himself (and later, his vile children).

I'm not in this for that.

They are incapable of hearing our words.

We'll have to make them hear our actions.

49 "Reform" that doesn't start with shoring up our borders, is not "reform". It's just amnesty.

The libs complain about poverty, overcrowding, and overpopulation, but they just want to add more people to the American population. The healthcare that the government is giving the poor doesn't seem to be enough to AOC, so the government should have to amp up the services and the number of people receiving them.

Well, that and the Texas GOP's bench is mostly much more disappointing than advertised. The Texas GOP is generally good at the pro-business environment thing (low taxes, meaningful standards for liability), though it gets even that wrong in the typical chamber of commerce ways (pro-regulation in ways that favor entrenched interests). But that's mostly it. If you expect Texas GOP types to fight the culture war, you'll mostly be disappointed. The only time they have for social issues is campaign season, when they are flogging them for donations.

Whatever we call ourselves (conservatives, legacy Americans, traditional Americans, lovers of liberty,) it does seem like we've been encircled, marked, and isolated. Hillary othered us with the deplorables speech, opening the way to outright hatred of us and our beliefs.

72 I endorse the despair, ace, as the rational and informed reaction, but don't see any "action" that will matter.

The "incrementalism" has been in action for 20 years, it's a combo of lawlessness at state and federal levels, and would take 2 Trump terms, AND a wholesale slaughter of incumbent GOP and replacement with responsible intelligent people, to even begin to turn around.

"Sanctuary" lawlessness.
Judicial lawlessness.
Federal pre-emption Catch-22 (hey, YOU can't enforce immigration law, and we don't have to, suck it)

I'd expect that within the next few years illegal aliens will be voting in most non-federal elections in most large states (it's already happening, and the "courts" have not and will not do anything about it).

My apocalyptic pronouncement that the results of the 2020 election were the greatest catastrophe in US history was not made lightly, it was based on very mundane but critical realities.

With all the hate mail that they've gotten from their longtime donors (i.e., the Horde), they must know what time it really is.

This is probably their last chance to have all the managers cash out (i.e., Ronna Romney McDaniel et. al.) before abandoning the sinking ship the GOP has become. DC statehood should settle it once and for all.

94 "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" .. an old Dale Carnegie book. iirc, one is to consider the worst case, mentally deal with that, then everything this side of that is a positive, or better than the worst at least.

But we have blown past what many thought would be worst case, at this point of their timeline at least (even though we were "incrementally" heading toward NWO/totalitarian rule by clowns.).

So the new worst case is ? idk, end of Western Culture? War with China and Russia? ... The financial realm still holds together, so that could be the real worry ... but life on the farm here has not changed much, I left the corrupt city end of last century.

The Koch Network is alternately described as libertarian or conservative. . .Through its many groups like the Americans for Prosperity and The LIBRE Initiative, it has been pushing for bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform for years.

If the GOP actually represented its voters, its actions -- over the past few decades -- would have been far different. They don't care.

Getting people into these positions who actually care about representing their voters is a herculean (if not sisyphean) task. But a "Donald Trump" alone isn't enough.

178 Instead of voting on election day, conservatives should hold 'protests' in the downtown of their cities, so the world media can take pictures.

It won't affect policy. We currently live in a 'tails the left wins/heads the right loses' world anyway. But it will cost a lot of grifters and bribe takers who nominally represent (and ruin the brand of) conservatives their jobs, which is a starting point, at least.

The real problem is that traditionalists don't have a money mark the same way the corporatists do. We don't have a Koch to fund a parallel stream of institutions, to fund think tanks to hire people who get 'unpeopled', etc. That's the critical piece we should be working on, however one works on that.

either way, it does suck. As I've tried to explain to everyone in my life, the middle class / upper middle class (think your local doctor or small business owner or whatever) pay the vast, vast, vast majority of the taxes meant for "the rich" who have the ability to structure their wealth so that they have very little taxable income.

According to Modern Monetary Theory, you can inject as much capital as you want in to the system via printing money, but in order to control inflation, you need to remove money via taxes.

What they DON'T say is that the money that's injected goes to the very wealthy and the very poor, and the money that's taken out comes from the middle class. I'm not sure if the economic geniuses who came up with MMT realized that or not, but the politicians certainly realize it.

Even worse, blue states NH, ME, and VT all have constitutional carry. And NH and ME passed those laws fairly recently. (I think VT has always had constitutional carry, it might be in their state constitution. They're kind of a weird state, in that, like TX, they decided to go their own way and be their own country for a while, and only came back in to the fold later. *somehow* they still claim to be one of the original states and part of new england, even though they were a French colony and after the Revolution said "fuck you guys, we're doing our own thing. I'm old enough to remember 1986 when we had a round of amnesty etc predicated on getting serious about border enforcement. Yet today here we are, and there's no reason to think that it will be any different after another round.

This is why I support immigration reform in a piecemeal manner, FIRST we secure our borders and stop new illegal entries. Once that is done and we've a proven fix for the future, then and only then should we take up amnesty for those already here. My one exception to this, those who weren't here legally and managed to enlist in the U.S. military and fought over seas. Swearing them in and doing the paper work is just a formality, get it done yesterday.

There have already been some "carbon recapture" boondoggles implemented and abandoned over the decades.

If you want to 'remove' more CO2, plant more plants.

To do it chemo-mechanically would be extraordinarily energy-expensive. If you were dead-set on doing it that way, maybe focus on removing CH4 or other greenhouse gases that are more potent than CO2.

Or if on a PC, you should already be avoiding chrome and firefox like the plague. Ask pixy. Brave has built in ad blockers, and recommended. Opera is also a good choice, not quite as robust.

Another source I point to here frequently is winhelp 2k. By modifying your HOSTS file, you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. It will eliminate the potential of malware and tracking cookies, as well as get rid of most ads (all with adsense). The best part? It doesn't appear as an ad blocker to many sources. So, you can stop those annoying ads on YT, get a cleaner page and not get the "please unblock our site" crap.

In simple terms it's a list of all the garbage sites, and it tells your browser they don't exist. So you do need to update it about every 6 months or so, because they're always coming up with new shit.

305 GOP - led politicians on the local level who are pushing back
against CRT in the schools, the voting reforms that are being passed by
GOP legislatures, policies that affect citizens IRL are still being
promoted and enacted by Republican politicians country-wide.

It's
obvious that eh GOP=Corporate- NWO alliance is a thing...and that
presents an existential threat to the Republic and to essential
liberties. But take a look at what is occurring in Germany - a
civilized "democratic" Western nation...where a mom who appeared before
a judge to get a mask mandate lifted due to her child developing rash
on the face - was rejected. Not only rejected, but ordered to pay an
18,000 EUR fine.
Germany also just passed an
Infection Protection Act that includes draconian penalties for violating
COVID laws, including the removal of your children.
So yeah the GOP sucks, but it is the only somewhat organized resistance to a literal police state that we currently have.

306 It's obvious we have a lot of Vote Harder vs. Voting is Now Useless in the crowd. Truthfully, both sides have very arguable points. We're in a very difficult position. One is automatically reflexive to doing everything possible to keep these pure communists out of office. The only way to do that is to vote for who we have...which, at present, is a lousy bunch of useless rags who have zero cares about us or this country. Their only pro is that they aren't communist scum. But it's hard to even do the bare minimum and show up on election day to vote for people that don't give a damn about me or America, with their only virtue being that of a non-communist. Rock, meet hard place. We're there. And they know it.

Why do we need an immigration policy at all?

It made sense when we were trying to settle the west. We needed warm bodies to fill up land so it couldn't be retaken by Indians, Canadians, or Spaniards.

But now? We import cheap labor to replace US citizens at the bottoms of the skills ladder, and we import cheap labor to replace US citizens at the tops of the skills ladder.

How does that help us?

Quick story -- I have a friend who got a job at a top tier big law firm on an h1b visa. He's from India. Definitely a diversity hire, his grades in law school were not great. How is that fair to someone who crushed it on the LSAT, during law school, and on the bar, and had great internships, etc? And if we're going to do diversity hires, shouldn't we be hiring, you know, Americans and not people who have spent a grand total of 3 years in the country?

I do believe that is the goal. Not to save the climate - but rather, to continue to drive collective narratives. That's been the great success of the 'Rona and BLM. The convinced quite a few people - maybe not a majority, but enough - to sacrifice their own best interests to some "greater good". It doesn't matter that it's neither greater or good - it matters that a shit pot of people were willing to sacrifice as the Central Government directed. But people have short attention spans - so they'll have to continually invent new "greater goods" to keep them interested. I truly think those at the top, of both parties, look at WWII America as something to recreate and focus toward their own ends. Because WWII was anything but free. Goods were rationed, income was confiscated, corporations pursued goals directed by the government, and people were moved as needed You bet your ass the powers that be want that.

So it has been 10 years or so since we've seen anyone that can even make a halfhearted claim to being a moderate Democrat at the federal level, besides potentially Sinema.

The bigger problem for you is that you need a movement at least relatively united in their approach to political power. Once a substantial minority- let's say 30% of the party- are no longer committed to peaceful elections, your hopes of political power are over. By contrast, one person blowing Tlaib's brains out on TV would start a new round of insane political persecution, which drives even more people to nationalism and revolution.

That is no longer the case. There is no pressing need for more people. In fact, we have far too many low skill people in this country as it is, and nowhere near enough jobs for all of them, which is why so many people are living shitty lives on welfare while watching Judge Judy. I feel really badly for those people, why are we making their lives worse by importing even more competition for them? And letting that competition work under the radar, and thus avoiding all of the taxes, rules, laws, etc. that make hiring US citizens for low skill jobs prohibitively expensive?

He is safely ensconced in the Senate to torment us for six more years. Joy. Even if he expired early, Governor Windmill would only appoint someone worse.
Secondly, Voting Harder won't get us a damned thing in Statewide elections anymore. The fraud in the cities will overwhelm anything the legitimate voters do. The worthless GOP Legislatures have a chance to fix this, but they are putting out weak, sickly "reforms" that nibble at the edges while leaving the major areas of fraud wide open. Even here in Texas they refuse to stop "mail-in voting" for some unknown reason. Dumb bastards...

373 Send this to old White-hair Cornyn:

So Sen. John Cornyn is now casting his lot with the Democrats on immigration and is all-in for their version of "immigration reform" AKA amnesty and unlimited illegal border crossing?

How racist. preferring one ethnicity of immigrants over all others. Granting shortcuts to residence and citizenship to Mexicans, central Americans and others over those who have stood in line, paid their fees and suffered long at the interminable glacial bureacracy of the U.S. immigration service.

Sen. Cornyn must be feeling pretty secure in his position having just been re-elected to side with his pals the Democrats. He should be informed he was reelected on the coattails of Donald Trump.

374 you have two alternatives:

1) Primary the basterds or vote 3rd party or

2) give up.

Guess which one the Eeyore's on the Center-right will do.
