I'm not a hermit and I enjoy live chatting with people one on one or in tiny groups. But it is not just the majority dummiecrat makeup of my workplace, nor being freed from the commute that makes me happy to be WFH. A side benefit of the fakedemic. When I used to stay home because of bad roads I would only do a couple hours of work and take most of the day as PTO so I thought I didn't have the skills to be productive at home. Being faced with it being a long term deal forced me to set up a home office and working hours in that office. I'll never have to return to commuting 4-5 days a week.

that said, I've been pretty impressed with the tesla's I've ridden in, and the one my friend let me drive. They're fast as hell, and pretty cool cars.
The big limitation is that if you live in a city or in a very rural area, charging is definitely an issue. But if you live and work in the 'burbs, or in places in CA, it works better.

Maybe, but I suspect this is almost entirely about Biden himself. He's just not in charge, he was never meant to BE in charge. They put him there so THEY could be in charge, so maybe it's ego, maybe it's some overall belief that no one person should have this power. I don't know.
But I prefer to believe he's bumbling around, knocking things over, touching things (and people) he shouldn't, and they're getting fed up with it. It takes a lot of work to keep this facade going.

Its one of his best books, but yeah that ending was laugh out loud absurd and silly. He had trite and absurd solutions to real world, scary complexities, and always Jack Ryan was the man who knew best.
And like most really successful authors, he desperately needed an editor but wouldn't listen to any.

True - I can attest. My grandfather (born in 1900) was the most proper man I knew. I never even saw him as much as mow the lawn but he was wearing a tie. Very "upright".
He got Alzheimer's and was in an old folks home. He'd go for walks and years later we found out he was walking over to the sororities nearby and flashing them. My younger grandpa would have been absolutely mortified if he knew what he would be doing when he was much older!

The president has a credit card sized card that has some random numbers on it. When he takes office, he chooses one set. This is basically a PIN number to identify him as a final check. This I believe is different from the "football" which has codes for the various war-plans. I think Clinton lost the ID card, not the football. (Although the officer with the football was left behind once when the motorcade left.)

I am seriously looking into taking a few months off and collecting UI. It wont be anywhere near what I could earn but it is enough to pay the bills while I go on a nice vacay. I think, technically, the speaker invites the president to give the speech.
The Constitution only says that the President shall "from time to time" inform Congress about the state of the union.
Historically, the president would write a short letter and someone would deliver it to be read in to the record. In recent years it's become a whole thing.

Joe, barky, or even Trump never had to memorize jack or shit wrt releasing special weapons. There is a warrant officer, or an 05 that follows potus around 24x7 with a briefcase. Potus says release, the briefcase duty officer opens it up, authenticates it with his certificates, and a second person, (this is the two person special weapons release roe) also authenticates. Together the two duty officers create the release order on potus' authority as potus to do so. After they press the send button, it's mostly on autopilot until you get to the warhead, where the received message has the codes to unlock the physical device.

I think it's a mixture of both: they're using Biden's obvious weakness as an opening to undermine the separation of powers in the Constitution and bolster Pelosi's power, but it's not specifically due to Biden.

Just heard from my daughter who works for the State department in a central Asian -stan country. She has been busy this week dealing with the death from Covid of an American who wanted to travel to get away from all the Covid stuff going on in this country. Pro tip: do not get Covid in a country with no health care infrastructure. I know she is having a tough time of it (one of her duties was notifying the family), but I had to laugh. Since November my heart has really become stone like.
