He hooked it all together, it was so smart that whenever the generator had run for 10 minutes, the "smart" thermostat turned it all off. He gave up and went to momma's house for the duration.
meanwhile, me with my dumb old space heaters that you light with a match stayed nice and warm throughout. So what if the room gets to be 90 degrees? I WANTED it to be 90 degrees! (I don't actually do that, but my wife sure does)

Actually we went grocery shopping yesterday. Mrs. Mis. Hum. wore here Frito Bandito mask and I had mine on my neck. MI is draconian with their rules. However about 30% of the shoppers were either A) Not wearing masks or B) intentionally not wearing them properly.

For now, I'm looking at just buying satisfactory coffee. I'm a high volume addict/drinker and I have survived on truck stop vending machine coffee in the past. The kind in the paper cup with a hand of cards on the side for you connoisseurs. Lately it's been whatever is on sale, generally medium roast. Maxwell House, Folgers, Store Brand, etc. I splurged on some Starbucks last week and it was complete garbage. It didn't even smell like coffee in the bag or while brewing. Didn't taste awful. Didn't taste like anything at all.
So, what brand(s) should I be looking to try. What do you guys like for say, 10ish bucks a bag. If I genuinely like it, I'll spend a bit more. Whatdoyagot?

A big hidden truth of the modern area - business licensing and "regulations" exist primarily so that large, powerful companies with a lot of politicians on their payroll can use government to drive all of their smaller competitors out of business and keep them there.

This is especially irritating for government workers that tax money out of their community, and send it off to the global conglomerates to invest in ... This is not the standard issue 15 yr old girl. She can lay down some awesome sarcasm that cuts to the bone and then finish with an epic eye roll that can be heard in Europe. She does not tolerate annoying shit, prefers to stay home, is ruining the grade curve for everybody in her class, loves Japanese animation and is a good artist. Oh and she does not give a tinkers damn if we fuck up her hair as long as it is "close enough". Hubbymayhem and I are the only people worried about how the end result of this haircut looks.

Yep, and Catholic. We even have Stations of the Cross every week during Lent. Live streamed since we can't all pile into Church. But we do get live Mass every week. Fr. Doug groups the classes so we each have a day and can all spread out. It's not perfect but it will do.

Ha! I listened to the Holy Spirit back in the early 90's and went back to school to get my teaching degree. Even then the curriculum was BS and didn't have a damn thing to do with actually teaching kids. Fortunately, the HS led me to a Catholic school that let me teach the way I saw fit and I have been there ever since. Been teaching middle school science for the last four years. No one bothers me and the kids and I have a lot of fun.

Has anyone else ever tried those Asian instant coffees? They come in individual serving packages, usually like long rectangular pouches. Just add hot water and serve. I quite like them. They usually come with milk and sugar added, but there's one I got that also had *durian* added as well. I've never had real fresh durian, though I know all about how bad it smells, but this was quite a nice additional flavour.

That's wonderful. From what I hear from people in religiously affiliated private schools-who have been in public settings- the pay is less than what one would make in the public schools, but they have much more academic freedom and are glad when they don't have to worry about mentioning their faith.

My last ground beef purchase was at Aldi's at over five pounds. I carefully decide where 1/5th was. So that's about one pound. Cut that carefully in half, then once again in half. So you end up with very close to 1/4 pound sections. No weighing required.
A one pound hunk of ground beef for meat loaf takes too long to defrost. I'd rather defrost (4) 1/4# sections.

good heavens, my 8 year old grandson is already a couple inches taller than that and weighs 94#. well he kinda takes after me, most say.
and he's just a little bit bigger than a 5 year old grand nephew that his parents have called Giant Baby since he was in diapers. That kid's gonna be an NFL linebacker. (at age 5, he's taller and bigger than his 9 year old brother who is just normal)

I checked out Auction Ninja and then did some searching. It was totally not what I was expecting. Skaggs's Mandocaster was an actual Tele body and had eight strings so it must have been custom made. The one on auction looks rough but looks complete and apparently has good provenance. Probably not a bad buy for someone into that kind of stuff.

I cook 3lbs at a time usually 4-5x a week plus six eggs in the fat. That is dinner 4-5x a week. Started mixing horseradish, the real stuff, in after the cooking process is done. Thinking of putting it in during the cooking process.

I like to squish it flat in the ziplock too, and line them up in the little basket in the freezer. When I'm down to my last ziplock of ground beef I get anxious.

Wind is ridiculous. Even when functioning correctly, 70+% of the power gets lost at the source through step down transformers. (Notice: when you are driving past a wind farm, there are massive transformers at the base of those things.)
Maintenance on those is constant/expensive
Their full of haz. waste. Those things are going to be a bitch to dispose at end of life.
Chynah is already experiencing "wind shadow", that is, taking too much energy out of the atmosphere.
"They" will blame all of this on CO2, and we'll get MOAR! synthetic beef and wind turbines.

I was doing some genealogy research recently and came across something interesting about one particular troop ship. In the aftermath of WWII it transported refugees from war ruined eastern Europe to Australia. About 1,000 per trip for three plus years. The fourth year it brought refugees to the USA from those countries plus some who escaped Poland.
Including one two year old Polish girl and her parents. I dated that girl when she was in her teens and she never once mentioned her background.
Anyway, I imagine those refugees who ended up in Australia became some really proud liberty loving folks.

i looked at those images. one slide from the presentation says to be less white is to be:
be less certain, less arrogant, more open minded, more humble, listen, believe. all things you could say, being a good Christian.
The last line is the clincher though: break with white solidarity.
Would love to hear the definition of white solidarity. these race baiters have convinced the US was under apartheid and we are all being deprogrammed from slave owning south africans into humble less white drones.

Today is Moving Day. I get to move all my work and personal shit into the new industrial space I just leased this week. Feels good to finally be able to work comfortably, without tiptoeing around my brother's garage.
This is the THIRD time I've had to move either my workplace or myself in a year. But by far, this is the happiest move in a long time. My dad and one of my uncles came out yesterday to build shelving while I patched screw holes in the drywall to prep for painting in a few days. My brother, mom and her husband are all helping move boxes from storage today. Real family effort, and it feels good.
