The Morning Report - 1/19/21 [J.J. Sefton]

Good morning, kids. I remember a comedian (Byron Allen?), back when we had actual comedians and not clown-nosed cultural revolutionaries, who said "I'm not afraid of flying. I'm afraid of plummeting on fire from 30,000 feet to a horrible death." Difficult as it is to describe my emotional state, I think that that comes close. As of noon tomorrow, it's going to be pedal to the metal on every horrendous, crackpot leftist/Socialist policy agenda imaginable, both foreign and domestic that has ever been tried before and proven to be at best a fiasco and at worst a lingering disaster -- inflicted a thousand-fold on a horrified, unwilling and extremely angry majority of people. That's the plummeting on fire from 30,000 feet part.

The horrible death part is uncharted territory, at least in this country, or what was this country since the United States of America as founded ceased to exist as of Black Wednesday. I'm referring to the purging from the public square of all voices of opposition and dissent to what is now the official regime line. That is, anything that goes against or protests any Democrat, Leftist, Progressive, Socialist dogma, meme or policy, from the legitimacy of Polident-elect Zhou Bai-Din to the insanity of men in dresses having access to female restrooms to the joys of post-natal infanticide to melanin as Caucasian kryptonite and everything in between.

It's funny, as in disgustingly hypocritical, how the Left always yammers on about multiple perspectives, how truth is purely subjective and how we cannot judge other cultures or societies through the lens of our own. Yes, tolerance, acceptance and that nauseating "Co-Exist" bumper sticker are their watchwords. And yet when it comes to anyone or anything that challenges them, they are so thoroughly intolerant, inflexible and absolutist in their belief that they are right than the most radical fundamentalist Tora-Bora cave-dweller enrolled at Embry Riddle (you can almost sense a theme here).

When odious, dim louts like Steve Cohen put forth a meme that National Guardsmen are not to be trusted because the vast majority are white, male and did not vote - to the best of their knowledge (nudge-nudge wink-wink) - for Zhou Bai-Din, it goes beyond the mere smearing of their politics, gender and race. He is not very subtly condemning them, and by extension all of us, as criminal enemies of "our democracy" (puke), meaning the regime. And that condemnation is a green light to all the thugs of BLM, Antifa and the James Hodgkinsons out there to take action.

Worse than that, it lays the groundwork for enabling acts of the sort last seen in the wake of the 1933 Reichstag Fire. Outlawing of opposition political parties, silencing of opposition media outlets and potentially mass arrests and show trials of opposition political leaders (not that the GOP-e is an opposition party in any sense of the word) and ultimately private citizens who dare speak out. Anyone who thinks that that's crazy talk is not paying attention.

The whole essay is great, JJ, but this part stood out for me. Coexist is not my desire. Jesus did not say "I am not here for you to coexist". I don't think coexist should be our goal. There is a big difference between existing and living. But the goal of the "Biden administration" is probably to reduce our lives to existing, so I guess coexist is apt.

I note that acedark is a wordpress site. Wordpress deplatformed CTH - I think that they would dump the acedark site in a heartbeat. CJN's hosting looks a little safer but dns is still with US based company.

The fact that the dns registrations for this site are offshored - .nu and .cc - is a huge protection. It is hosted here in the US (v NZ where it was for a bit). I would expect pixy has plans to set the site up there if necessary again.

Here is the lesson: if you want to exercise free speech, don't be in the US. That really says all you need to know.

The city is infested with Democrats. 77% of the population is black and a large percentage are in terminal poverty. The State is no better. We are dominated by Atlanta, and the GOP at the State level is, well, you know. How do we do it? It's my understanding that that's not how defamation law works. All Dominion has to show is that Sydney made the statements and then Sydney has to prove the statements were true or that she had a reasonable basis to believe they were. The only discovery will come in the damages phase and will be limited to that.

All Dominion has to show is that Sydney made the statements and then Sydney has to prove the statements were true or that she had a reasonable basis to believe they were. The only discovery will come in the damages phase and will be limited to that.

I think about this a lot. They knew how critical it was for the people to be able to throw off the shackles of an illegitimate government that has become a detriment to freedom and liberty. suppose someone accuses a man of being a pedophile. The man sues for defamation, saying the accuser has no evidence or justification. The person he sued doesn't get the right to sift through every paper and file he owns just on the off chance something might be there - the accuser has to show that they already had some hard evidence causing them to believe that their statement was true.

If it weren't that way, then anyone could look at anyone's private records any time they want, just by making up wild accusations.

That's the negligence standard. For private parties. Assuming that Dominion is treated like Coca Cola or any other major firm, they need to prove that the defendant knowingly and maliciously lied.

So first they need to make the case that she lied (typically discovery requires a prosecution to reveal exculpatory evidence, idk if that applies to civil cases).

Second that she was maliciously and intentionally lying. Which usually requires personal communications of some sort.

But frankly, any of the statistical evidences and analyses lying around is sufficient grounds to make public accusations. You could argue they're wrong but can't argue that it's unreasonable.

The time for purity tests (to some degree) is after the conflict, when we split into parties again. Purity tests of some sort are useful when setting policy positions. This is not the time for policy disagreements. There are no nuances in meaningful policy differences anymore. You cannot have a policy disagreement with someone with whom you share *nothing* in terms of core principles or beliefs.

This "big tent conservatism" won't last because it can't, but I am more than happy to enable it and try to hold it up until the communists are vanquished. Then we can go back to arguing topics like the degree of appropriate government intervention in produce standards.

The tldr of libel cases is that if you're a public figure then you basically would never win against almost anyone for anything, if you're a private figure suing a major publisher you can do so for negligence, suing another private figure is a weird niche area because usually it's hard to argue damages.

Powell has expert testimony and witnesses. Absent personal communications indicating she didn't believe them or otherwise incriminating herself, she can just say "I believed X" in any of these cases.

1) Impose formal speech control universally on social media (e.g., do away with the lip service that they're fair and neutral) because of international liability

The Republic is dead anyway, Axe. I suspect it's date of death was probably October 26, 2001 when the PATRIOT Act was passed and thus the people became the enemy of the state. There's plenty of room for argument on when it died, but it is dead. Trump was the last gasp.

We may get back a republican form of government. It is doubtful, but possible. During the interim, though, the United States is not and will not be a republic. And I'd rather have my side in control.

Yes. It's regressiveness is but one facet of that particular program. "Cash for Clunkers" is perhaps the worst overall policy I have ever seen. It had absolutely no systemic upside. Hell, even the egregious bank bailouts had the upside of relative stability. That was a bad policy that shouldn't have been implemented, but even it had *some* good to be found, however dislocated from costs and morality. "Cash for Clunkers" has none unless you happen to own automobile manufacturers or lenders - but even then, it was so marginal that it almost doesn't exist.

I doubt that they go seriously negative in absolute terms. They're already negative in real terms. Europe experimented with this, but it didn't work well. The zero boundary is real. The only way to accomplish "negative" nominal interest is to eliminate cash, and that has been too disruptive and unreliable to get away with. They're more likely to just institute a wealth tax. It's far easier to accomplish and sufficiently arbitrary for all the backroom dealing and beak-soaking that goes on in Washington.
