The Saturday Night Joke

A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by.

He gets into the taxi, and the Cabbie says, 'Perfect timing. You're just like Frank.'

Passenger: 'Who?'

Cabbie: 'Frank Feldman...He's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time.'

Passenger : 'There are always a few clouds over everybody.'

Cabbie: 'Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy.'

Passenger: 'Sounds like he was something really special.'

Cabbie: 'There's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman, could do everything right.'

Passenger: 'Wow, some guy then.'

Cabbie: 'He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman.'

Passenger: 'An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?'

Cabbie: 'Well...I never actually met Frank. He died and I married his wife...'

That's one hell of a joyride, I'm not sure why the USPS truck was left running.

A WOMAN allegedly got behind the wheel of a USPS truck and went for a one mile joy ride as she crashed into 14 cars in Brooklyn.

Cops said the woman climbed into the truck on Fulton Street and Patchen Avenue in Bed-Stuy at around 6pm on Friday.

ADVERTISEMENT Woman, 32, ‘mailed out 180 nude photos of men she was angry with’ Comment Jimmy McCloskeyFriday 15 Jan 2021 6:37 pm Share this article via facebookShare this article via twitterShare this article via messenger Sarah Pharis is accused of mailing out 180 nude photos of two different men she was upset with (Picture: Calcasieu Parish Jail) A 28 year-old woman mailed out 180 nude images of two men she was angry with, it is claimed. Sarah Pharis, 32, was first arrested on December 28 after allegedly posting 150 images of an unidentified man to at least 30 people. She is said to have traveled from her home in Sulphur, Louisiana, to Texas to mail them. Pharis was arrested again on Thursday after Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office learned of a second man she is said to have humiliated with revenge porn. A sheriff’s office spokesman said the original batch of letters also contained nudes belonging to the second alleged victim. Pharis faces 180 counts of non-consensual disclosure of a private image, and is currently free on $90,000 bail ahead of her next court appearance. Investigators have not disclosed the relationship between Pharis and the men whose nudes she is said to have shared.

Relationship? I'm sure it was platonic and they engaged in book reviews.

I enjoy the great outdoors, I hunt, I fish. I enjoy picking wild raspberries and blueberries. But, I draw the line at eating Christmas trees.

Don’t toss your Christmas tree — you can eat it!

Christmas is over, you’ve taken the ornaments off the tree, but instead of dragging the Christmas tree to the curb, why don’t you … eat it? London’s Julia Georgallis recently released a 30-recipe cookbook called How To Eat Your Christmas Tree.

INSIDE THE MIND OF AN ANGRY DRUNK
Why your buddy Jekyll becomes Mr. Hyde after one too many

The night is going smoothly. You’re out at the bar with your friends having a great time. Then, all of a sudden, a fight breaks out. It’s the same friend every time. He’s wildly punching another of your friends. Or the guy standing behind him. Or the waiter. Or the bouncer. Or a lamp post.

How do you know you live in an opulent society? Liquid Death.

Right now at my local grocery, a 12-pack of store-brand bottled waters retails for $2.49. But why merely quench your thirst when you could murder it? That's the selling proposition behind Liquid Death, a 3-year-old startup offering the same quantity of spring water, but marketed like a beer and packaged in "tallboy" aluminum cans, for $19.99 on Amazon.

She's just too sexy for her own good.

Today in sexist news from around the world, a Flemish psychologist has reportedly given up her license after the Belgian Commission of Psychologists scolded her for being too sexy. After the Commission suspended her license, Kaat Bollen, a Flemish media personality known for sharing and promoting sex-positive content online, simply gave it up instead.

According to Vice, Bollen’s troubles began in early 2020, after an unknown colleague reported her to the Commission, resulting in an official warning. Bollen appealed the decision, and ended up getting her license suspended instead.

In addition to a social media presence deemed “indiscreet,” Bollen also raised eyebrows for directing an erotic film and operating an online sex toy shop — all of which ultimately led to the Commission’s decision to suspend her license. According to Belgian national broadcaster VRT, the Commission’s verdict notes that Bollen “must at all times be aware of her profile and dignity,” and ultimately found that “the dignity of their profession is being affected and their image damaged” by Bollen’s online presence.

Ford vs. Chevrolet. Longbows vs. Crossbows. Ginger vs. Mary Ann. Ketchup on hot dogs and now the fight of: Ketchup on eggs?

Ketchup on eggs can be a subject of intense debate. Is this a combination you grew up with, or is the idea completely foreign to you? Based off of casual conversation here at The Takeout, it’s clear that for every enthusiast, there’s a hater who despise the very idea of Heinz on the breakfast table. And as a condiment, people have very strong feelings about ketchup more generally, like whether or not it belongs on hot dogs or, as we’ve discussed amongst ourselves previously, on burgers. So what do you think? Does ketchup belong on eggs?

Florida Man and Intoxication = Genius Award Winner. A funny one at that.

A U.S. Coast Guard crew from Station Key West have recovered a floating tiki hut bar that was reported stolen near in the Florida Keys

Unsurprisingly, the person aboard showed signs of intoxication and he was taken into custody by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Officials said the vessel was located near Hawk’s Channel.

Local reports say the man was found slumped over the wheel of the charter tiki hut at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, giving you an indication of how rough his night was.

24 Ketchup generally doesn't belomg on eggs. I make an exception now and then, for fluffy ham and cheese omelets made with Velveeta. When yer re-creating diner trash cuisine, I think it's required. A little Ketchup is good on hash browns, so I don't see the difference, in the sense we take alternating bites. I like grape jelly on toast, too, but I don't actually install grape jelly on the eggs. I am sure many would gag at the idea and even that is interesting to me. People get so personal about food and what is acceptable and what is not. I am not talking trying something and not liking it, just the idea of certain things can really gross people out. We all do it. What about the people who hate it when their different food items touch? Or another example, I knew a woman who hated sauces. It didn't matter which sauces or which food, she simply hated all sauces writ large.

83 I wonder if these vaccine stories are true or just fear-mongering. And
whether there is any significance. Like I'm sure we could find someone
who died shortly after putting ketchup on their eggs if we looked
around.

I'm pretty sure the reasonable standard is whether they died with covid vaccine in their system, just as a covid death is someone who died with covid in their system (or assumed to be in their system).

It is more dangerous to cross the street at night, almost.

We have to accept some risk for this great advance in science! 0.1% fatality rate is such a small price to pay, and remember by mass vaccinating, we are are paying hundreds or thousands for each dose, and that is transferring trillions to the medical research industry where they can invest in great new research programs, like how to modify esoteric viruses to be more infectious to humans - so it's a win-win!

180 I'm not much of an egg eater. Sometimes I make an egg casserole with the dehydrated hash browns, or with bread, plus crumbled sausage, and lots of tasty cheese plus savory seasonings. Or will order an omelet in a cafe, or sometimes make one. Scrambled with salsa if I'm in a hurry or have limited choices.

Ketchup, don't know if I've tried it. Prefer my added flavors to be less sweet for just eggs. Or fully sweet if going french toast or crepes.

A big day for me, at the time.

I woke up and was an hour late for work at Burger King. I got fired. An hour later I was hired at McDonalds *and* the UW hospital (I did both those jobs until I graduated high school). I later went to my girlfriend's house, had sex, and proposed to her. Then my car broke down on the way home.

We pulled back that marriage proposal. We were young. I did knock her up a couple months later. That girl, Stephanie, was born January 18, 1989 and we gave he up for adoption. I still want to meet her.

Not a hydraulics guy. I have replaced some lines on my own tractor. Is there a filter in the system? You might want to take it off, if there is one, and open it up and check for metal filings. A large amount of metal filings would tell me the pump was bad.

It is, in Arizona real estate parlance, a "trailer with add-ons". Single-wide mobile. On each side, a concrete slab about 13 feet wide, the full length of the trailer. Back end of each slab has a concrete-block room built on it. One room is larger than the other. A canopy roof supported by posts and beams covers the whole shebang. Roof is supported by the block rooms, too.

I have enclosed the slab area not covered by the block rooms. One side is a garage, and the other will be the "great room". The enclosing walls are 2X4 and 2X6, and are wired, and will be insulated and drywalled inside.

Well, okay- I'll take this one.
Cast iron skillet. Coarse grated potatoes. Peel or not, as you like. Heat your fat of choice: bacon grease, veg oil, olive oil
on medium high heat. Add the potatoes, spread them out evenly. Cook until the bottoms are crispy and brown. Cut the potato circle in half with a spatula and turn each half.
Cook until crispy and brown again. Drain and serve.

Or, just dump in the potatoes and keep stirring them around once in a while until done. Either is good.

341 "Trying to make the hydraulics work on my grey market tractor"

I've had to replace a few lines but don't know much about hydraulics. Just getting the lines in the right places is confusing enough. When something breaks I just turn it off .. not sure what would happen if you kept running it, except you have no pressure with that line open. Make sure you have the lines on right, is my only guess (or maybe only I would do something dumb like that ... ha)

I need to switch a scoop onto my new (old) tractor, since it has a cab, which is nice in winter when the wind really blows. But I'll need to add ports for a joystick. Easy to delay on those jobs ... good luck.

Posted by: DB- just DB. at January 16, 2021 09:57 PM (iTXRQ)

--------------------------

Here's how I do hash browns. Definitely use a cast iron skillet.

Shred the potatoes, and throw them into a bowl of cold water. Stir them around a bit with your hand, and leave them in for a minute or two.

Layout a double layer of paper towels, and transfer the shredded potatoes from the water to the paper towels in a thin layer, squeezing out as much water as you can as you take them out. Roll the paper towels up, squeezing as you do. If you're anal, like me, lay out another double layer of paper towels, and do it again. You want the potatoes as dry as possible. Season with salt and pepper.

Heat butter (3-4 tablespoons) in the skillet. When hot and melted, add the potatoes. Let one side cook to crisp, and then flip and let the other side cook.

Problem was he didn't retire until he was 80 and the Alzheimer's was already taking hold. He managed to get the Studabaker almost finished. The other 2 were in different stages of disassembly. 515 Since DB doesn't cook much. Ore-Ida makes dehydrated hash browns. Boil some water, add to their hashbrowns. let sit as long as they say. Get your skillet and add a nice big glop of bacon fat a minute or two before the browns are ready. Dump your browns in your bacon fat. Flip or stir to brown them to desired level. I always manage to have burned or underdone hash browns with frozen or grating fresh taters, these dehydrated are pretty fool-proof and 'fried in bacon fat' so they taste good enough. Plus you can say you are prepping if someone sneers

The Joint Chiefs have been a perfidious den of snakes for that last 4 years and Trump has told them they were useless to their faces. They can go hang (literally for all I care). Each individual soldier is responsible for the oath he took and no officer can tell him if the orders he is given violate his oath... only he can decide that. 591 Little got held after class with her two buddies.

It seems that their English teacher was due for a review where the higher ups sat in her class and observed.

Little jokingly said to her cohorts, "We should ask her if we get to play with the Ouija Board again today", a symptom of the inappropriate humor she has obtained from one of her parents (I'm guessing her mom, maybe?).

In any event, they said this in the presence of the class ass-kisser, a kid with Aspergers.

Even though they were model students during the class that was reviewed, the narc told the teacher who held them after class the next class period complete with a "You hurt my feelings" screed.

I had to play the good parent and give Little a talking to. I told her I was very disappointed in her for talking in front of the narc and not to ever do that again.

600 #565 - Think of it as June, 1940, in Great Britain.
Posted by: Captain Obvious

Interesting. I wrote a poem about an old British man who on his deathbed reveals to his two grandchildren that he saved the life of a German bomber pilot who had crash landed during the Battle of Britain. Part of it goes:

In an English country garden, English countryside, my dear old veteran grandpa, not much time alive. Opened up and told me of a story, life he saved of a German back in '40. If this fellow of my hatred I could conquer over. Build that bridge, from London town to Leipzig square, like Albert and Victoria, lead the way.

She is in high school at a Baptist school, so I'm sure they have been told about the occult status if the Ouija at some point.

620 SMH, and others... This is something I don't bring up very often, because I've never been in your shoes and don't have any room to talk about a soldier's experience...

That said, I strongly disapprove of what happened, and I'd like to stop it from happening yet again. I don't even really care about the reasons for the war, maybe it was good or maybe it was bad, I don't know and I won't pass any judgment on that.

What I do care about is the outcome. We lost. And we lost because our civilian government is too corrupt for any command role, and our country's populace is too frivolous to bother defending. And that is reflected in our downward spiral of frivolity and corruption that's resulted in seventy years of failed foreign wars.

Until such time as we can rid ourselves of the actual enemy, the domestic one, this pattern will continue, because they strongly prefer our foreign ones to us. And I can't any longer support these frivolous, corrupt wastrels sending our finest to die, on the orders of scoundrels, in the defense of fools. It's disgusting.

642 Corona panic only suited the Democrats so long as a nominal Republican was President. Now it needs to go away. The economy needs to spin back up for President Harris. They still need an excuse for widespread repression. But now, it needs to be more narrowly focused. The whole population no longer needs to be strafed... Only the opposition. So now, they'll rebrand the repression as a fight against white supremacist insurrectionists who voted for Donald Trump.

686 Check the poster ID (KAi1n) - this is me. As for Raimondo, whoever he is, as we've noted, his English isn't so good, but he's not an @sshole posting a bunch of pejoratives and ad-homs, and on the rare occasion when his syntax is comprehensible, some of his posts are actually substantive. He's the least objectionable troll I've ever seen.

Posted by: SFGoth at January 17, 2021 02:32 AM (KAi1n)

687 SFGoth is right. Raimondo is a long-time if, um, unconventional commenter, but he often frames things as advice from one underdog to another. He's not just dumping adolescent taunts - or equally idiotic stuff one now finds day in the actual "press".

Anyway, engaging raimondo is not discouraged, as it really really is with the others who are so obvious. How you do it is your choice. But I don't recall seeing him return the ad hominem abuse he mostly gets here. Coulda missed it.

The American people are taught to lean Left. They need to have it beaten into their heads why the Left is insane and incompetent on a regular basis. Biden will fail of course and normals will win in droves the next election. The only question now is how badly he screws things up.

All know is you could get gas around here for $1.98 four months ago. Now the price is more like $2.38 a gallon. I hope when the Left sees it at $4.00 they spit up in their milk.

711 Parler has a great legal case that if executed properly, could blow the shit out of all the monopoly corporations that want to control speech and thought today.

I learned something earlier this evening. On Jesse Watters show, he pointed out that the supposed h8 speech that some members posted on Parler, Twitter declared that it was h8 speech and how horrible, or something if Parler isn't blown up, or something. Evil and Orangeman nonsense.
So they spoke and what Parler posted wasn't deemed was acceptable was photoged and posted to Twitter, for everyone to see.
Twitter kept it so AWS could prove that it existed, and justified tossing Parler from their servers, which is their business.
And then Apple used the same Twitter justification to dump the Parler app from their App store.
All 3 conspired to take out Parler, the direct competitor to Twitter that was growing like gangbusters because of Twitter policies. They succeeded. Twitter, AWS, and Apple conspired to take out Parler at the knees.
That is illegal with the existing laws on the books, no need to worry about the FCC Section 230 carrier/platform issue. This is flat-out ant-trust monopoly action.

you should see the original catsup/ketchup recipe I remember when Heinz was really worried about ketchup sales about 20 years ago. They introduced blue and green ketchup. It was an utter failure. All it told me was the red in the modern stuff is mostly dye. Sure tomatoes are red, but come on now, that uniform red is not natural. Think about blue ketchup on eggs. Heinz was serious about that in the year 2000.

Posted by: Quint at January 17, 2021 06:05 AM (Rt/LJ)

747 I could be wrong about that and if so my apologies. I find the color to be too uniform but the ingredient list doesn't mention coloring. I do know they offer blue and green ketchup as a disasterous idea in the early 2000s.

a lot of blended scotch uses coloring to keep the product consistent. I guessed that Heinz did the same with their product but since they say otherwise I will bow out on this.
