I like how the two striped patterns form a type of frame around the central image, and that they are two of the primary colors. The rest of the work has a yellow-ish tone to it, the third primary color. The standing figure is also in stripes, but different stripes-pinstripes. Rather than color on white like the other two, she's got white on color.
Also, the overall tone is warm, yellow as mentioned but with some orange and red too. To me then, the blue stripes on the two girls counter the warmth with a cool tone. And by putting the blue pinstripes in the near center, it really balances out the heavier warms. BUT that is also toned down by the white apron. Take the apron away and the blue pinstripes becomes dominant. The artist knew what he was doing here. Posted by: Kris at January 14, 2021 09:42 AM (VQp/A) 50

As for the expense of the china, there was a time when children were expected to sit quietly at the table - without fidgeting, sweeping hand gestures, or excessive talking.
It was a priviledge to be at the Big Table, and not in the nursery. Children were aware of the fact that, should they not manage their behavior appropriately, they would NOT be included in what was a desired outcome. Discipline was generally firm in that culture. No "Oh, he's JUST a child!" excuses. Behave, or be banished from the fun. Posted by: Linda S Fox at January 14, 2021 09:54 AM (HZfQV) 92

German numbers, long or short, are written as one word. For example, to say or write the number 7,254 (which is not really a very long number), the German is siebentausendzweihundertvierundfünfzig.

Repeated for the daywalkers. I've completed the Second Official AoSHQ Classical Music Playlist of Sedition and Domestic Terrorism (TM), consisting of 800 pieces by 800 different composers. You can see the list here: http://soyaraborzoi.com/Playlist2.htm Almost 90% is new over the first playlist and the carryovers are pretty much ones that you'd be surprised if they weren't there. If you have the first playlist, you'll still be getting a lot from this one. The pieces stretch from the 14th to the 21st century. The bias is toward the Classical and Romantic periods, so all you afficianados of plainchant, Renaissance sackbuts, progressive exercises, dodecaphony, serialism, aleatory, and minimalism are SOL. Same terms as before. Write me at monsalvat 61 at gmail dot com with your mailing address if you'd like a flash drive with these works. While I am not making claims to good taste, I think previous recipients will testify to the value of someone like me serving as an aggregator. There were many German restaurants and beer gardens during the 19th and early 20th centuries, but WWI cut them down drastically and WWI more or less drove them all out of business, at least at the time the book was written. My favorite thing about German is their words that define entire concepts that are extremely difficult to define. Once you know thhem, though, they became enormously useful. It's why we tend to use them as loanwords.
My favorite might be "gestaltzerfall," which means "the collapse of the gestalt." It's the phenomenon where you look at something for so long (or so many similar things) that the shapes lose all cohesion and materialize, becoming just so much visual noise until you step away for a bit to reset and go back and look at it again. Oddly, this is a serious problem in China and Korea due to the way their script looks, where most word/letter shapes are similar in size and overall outline and the internal structure defines the meaning. When you encounter gestaltzerfall, which they do with higher frequency than other cultures, you become unable to read. Delta, like every other corporation that supports the new Oligarchy, is going to be handed endless subsidies as long as they demonstrate their loyalty. So, they don't have to worry about customers. This is the new American version of Fascism - if corps make profits, they get to keep them, but if they lose money, then we the taxpayers are forced to take all the losses, as long as they are loyal. The euros have been doing this for decades already.

There's a safety video playing in our breakroom that teaches us how to walk on ice. It's been snowing for the last three months, so the video isn't timely (I slipped and fell two months ago) and quite frankly, no video is going to make a bunch of Iowans take ice even more seriously. But it makes it look like the Safety Department is doing something, sooooo......

Mitch was so principled he only allowed $3T of bailouts. He is soooo fiscally conservative. Almost as much as GWB.

If we can have Jewel Staite, Summer Glau, and Morena Baccarin on our side, that'll help a lot. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at January 14, 2021 10:53 AM I can see where the character River may be of use. If you're listing hot girls from Firefly, Summer Glau seems...an odd choice. I guess I haven't seen her much recently, so maybe she filled out and lost the porpoise forehead? Posted by: That Guy at January 14, 2021 11:04 AM (N01xt) 392
find it amusing that some people still think their votes are counted fairly.
Imagine the tidal wave of consciousness that occurs in CA when it's shown that CA was, indeed, red. Who knows, maybe it was red this whole time. Posted by: t-bird at January 14, 2021 11:05 AM (CTJwJ) 393

Mitch was the one eliminating Blue State bailouts from the recovery packages and ensuring the SALT deductions he passed, stayed in place.
Yeah Mitch ensured that $4 trillion is all going to be spent wisely, on super-essential shit like Pakistani transgender training. Good Lord, you're fucking blind and stupid. Posted by: Bizarro World at January 14, 2021 11:05 AM (Q7J8K) 395

How Mormon is mittens? My hunch he is as Mormon [ as ] Pelosi is Catholic.
I believe he was (is?) an elder at the relatively new Mormon temple just north of Boston before he did the carpetbagging. Posted by: Biden's Puddin' at January 14, 2021 11:08 AM (V/nNl) 398

I pointed out that Ankers was Swiss and not German while I pointed people to his wiki page. Had you looked, you might have noticed that the titles on some of his works were "German" but used different words than the Modern German I used for the same items when I lived in Germany for years. It could be a regional think and it could be a time thing as language does change over time.
Of course, German varies substantially between regions. And they are keen to note it. Northern Germans would rarely fail to comment on my Hessian accent. I rarely got the same from Bavarians though I could barely understand Austrians. I guess you would actually have to have looked at the link and have some experience in German to understand the point of the statement. Sorry, my bad. Question for our techies: if voting machines can be accessed remotely by Dem hackers, could they not also be accessed by others? Is there any reason our side couldn't throw every Dem up for re-election out of office in 2022?

Ability, but no will. Posted by: NaCly Dog at January 14, 2021 11:14 AM (u82oZ) Will exists, but it's the will to investigate and prosecute and punish one side exclusively. If we did it, they'd bury us under the prison and the GOPe would cheer. Posted by: hogmartin at January 14, 2021 11:19 AM (t+qrx) Posted by: G'rump928(c) at January 14, 2021 11:22 AM (yQpMk) 404

Remember opportunity, motivation and ability. Most actual conservatives are frozen out of access to the areas where cheating happening. Most conservatives won't be hired by Dominion which appears to be a rich Bolshevik's club. That really impacts opportunity. And yes, the Bolsheviks and VichyGOP would drop the hammer quickly just as they have done with the "violent insurrection" on Black Wednesday. It's a club and we are not members.
