So I'll go on to a simply personal criticism. I HATE cold.

63 Thanks for this painting, CBD. Just gorgeous! Not only did Laurence capture the look of the light, he used it to let the viewer feel the comfort and relaxing warmth inside the cabin. (That is indicated by the snow on the roof. The heat of the furnace or stove isn't escaping through the roof.) Anyone who has worked all day in the cold and snow would appreciate this scene and what it implies. The contrast of the brilliant sky and darkening landscape enhances the feel.

Were you ever out in the Great Alone, when the moon was awful clear,
And the icy mountains hemmed you in with a silence you most could hear;
With only the howl of a timber wolf, and you camped there in the cold,
A half-dead thing in a stark, dead world, clean mad for the muck called gold;
While high overhead, green, yellow and red, the North Lights swept in bars? -
Then you've a haunch what the music meant . . . hunger and night and the stars.

102 Chief Justice Roberts, in the case of Shelby County v. Holder, reasoned that statistical data may be used as evidence.

That's a precedence, for those who are saying "all Trump has is circumstantial and statistical evidence."

That's not all he has (witness testimony is present in these cases, too), but still, even if that was all he had, it wouldn't be disqualifying.

There was a prediction the infestation would last three years. However, a month of bitter cold cleaned them right up.

I disliked that movie on about a hundred different levels. Romanticizing mental illness--and there was definitely something wrong with that kid--is pernicious as hell. So at the winter solstice the sun comes up at about 10:30 to 11"00 in the morning, clears the horizon for 3 hours or so and sets by around 2:00 in the afternoon. In summer the sun sets at maybe 11:00 pm and comes up at 2 or 3 in the morning.

245 > The Horde is really Inuit!

Inuit is largely a Canadian term.

The Inupiat of Alaska are related, but they don't call themselves that. The Yupik (the other major group of Eskimos here) are more distant, and definitely do not like being called "Inuit".

Calling a Yupik "Inuit" is sort of like calling an Italian "French" just because they both speak Romance languages.

Not to mention how unamused the various Indian tribes (there are a bunch of 'em) get when tourists assume that they are all "Eskimos".

247 Meanwhile, back in Venezuela where it all started...

BBC: "The electoral council in Venezuela says a fire in its main warehouse near the capital, Caracas, has destroyed most of the voting machines held there. Almost 50,000 voting machines and 582 computers used in the country's elections went up in flames, electoral council chief Tibisay Lucena said. She did not say if parliamentary elections due later this year could be affected by the loss of the machines. She also asked prosecutors to investigate the cause of the fire.".......

The cause of the fire is Socialism, lady. Just like it causes destruction of evidence here. It buys off crooked officials, it burns down cities and it steals elections. And eventually puts take-out windows on dumpsters.

On the other hand, maybe some Venezuelan patriots set the fires because they were tired of voting on Chavez' crooked voting machines.

We know how they feel.

Someone explained it to me once, but I forget what it was. Might be a combination of things, elevation, latitude, particles in the air, etc.

The colors in this painting are very similar to what we see every evening here. And we're not anywhere near that far north. Or that high in elevation.
Posted by: BurtTC

I'd hazard a guess that it is due to the fact that the sun does not attain that high an elevation above the horizon and so spends a greater proportion of its time shining through "sunset level" (i.e. thicker) layers of the atmosphere.

There are 0 FBI agents who are not corrupt and have any allegiance to the US citizens or Constitution. The entire FBI is nothing but the law enforcement arm of the DNC.

Which reminds me, I watched the famous "Germans" episode of Fawlty Towers on Yootoob last night. Funny in its last bit, as the concussed Basil babbles at the Germans and does a goose-step and a Hitler impression. But he spoke so fast, and the YT closed-captioning was so inadequate, that sometimes I missed his smart remarks.

I'm with you on that. I've got an HP Elite X3, and it's the best phone I've ever had, by far. Windows, so it won't be fully supported after this week, I think.

Used to cost $1000 brand new, but I bought mine from eBay for $250.

Not happy that the new Surface Phone uses the Android operating system, so that's probably going to be a hard pass for me.

there are some of those mysterious small accounts that show up, now saying that the Iranian nuclear guy was not killed but instead defected, and this is a huge game changer since he's going to spill about what's been going on in Iran and members of O administration.
As a consequence, they are saying that Biden is cooperating in exchange for clemency for Hunter, that the "broken foot" thing was an excuse to bring him in to make the deal.

If all 3 were your personal laptop, it's fine to use the same ID (and in fact you'd be dumb not to). But if one's yours, one's your wife's, and one's your daughter's, they should have 3 separate IDs. Just read "Apple ID" as "primary owner" and you'll get it.

___________

Exactly. And if nobody was, or could be immune to covid-19, then there would be no damn point pushing the drug companies to make a vaccine, or spending billions of taxpayer dollar getting people inoculated, would there?

But I bet Governor Dimwit is fully on board with forced inoculations of this virus that nobody is immune to.
