I don't know that works, inside the teevee wing of nevertrump.

So for example, your Anna Navaro types, do they expect to be relevant in the coming months and years? Do they think the Democrats will love them?

Who knows.

Even an attention whore has to eat... and we know Anna loves to eat. But how do they get paid? Is it just by being an attention whore, or do they really think the Republican Party wants them back?

BUT in the 21st century I think the GOP gets burned by charlatans and creeps who say "oh I'm R" so much that perhaps they should set some boundaries. "anyone who refuses to renounce communism or religious/political terrorism regardless is not welcome in this party"

Seems more like *I* am not welcome as someone who agrees with Trump that America First, MAGA, Liberty, and the Constitution are all great things.

102 Although the show was hit and miss, I've always thought that one of the best series endings and season endings was the two part "All Good Things" on ST:TNG. They made it an episode about past, present, and future, and brought back a re-cap of the very first episode with Q to end it all. (Even if you didn't like Q, it was a nice way to end the show and put a bow on it)

Another sci-fi show that ended very well was Farscape - not the actual series ender, which was a cliffhanger, but the Miniseries "Peacekeeper Wars", which tied up almost everything that had been left hanging during the show, and resolved it all in a very satisfying way.

Stargate had a very good series ending with the defeat of Anubis, but then they got the budget to keep on going for a couple more seasons and didn't really know what to do with it.

138 I know the Republican party likes to be the big tent, MLK was a Republican, the Dems wouldn't let him join their party and the Rs didn't exclude based on race.

Posted by: PaleRider is simply irredeemable at November 30, 2020 12:13 PM (Aashi)

This has been the Republican dilemma for some time. Who is allowed in, and what's the limit on what is an acceptable position to take on certain issues.

The problem is, once they gained a majority, they governed as if everyone was in agreement on things like unlimited immigration, perpetual wars, and federal spending as if there's no limit.

So they manage to NOT take into consideration there might be people in the tent who are not on board with the Gope way, while claiming to welcome everyone with a diversity of views.

Hence, the absolute trashing of the Tea Party, for example.

It's owned by PayPal, but is sort of a PayPal for people for whom PayPal doesn't let them attention-whore enough. Your history of transactions is publicly viewable as a sort of social media feed.

Used frequently by under-35's who think they're being clever running small business transactions through it instead of having an actual card processor, who then find out the hard way it doesn't actually offer any protections and take it up the ass.

173 141 Anyone know what's up with this judge in GA who ordered the voting machines to go untouched, then hours later reversed his order?
_______________

According to an article I read this a.m., the reason the judge reversed the original order was because the plaintiffs (who write the orders for the judges to sign) had named the wrong people in the order. The original order named elections commissioners and not actually the people who had physical custody of the voting machines. So when the defendants pointed that out, the plaintiffs submitted another order for the judge to sign, which named the correct custodians of the machines.

Basically it was just a matter of the paperwork not being correct, it wasn't the judge changing his mind or being bought off or threatened or anything like that.

Leaving these things in the hands of one party's apparatus to be scoured, scrubbed and bleach bitted is too much to bear. Ever action by the Dems is designed to obfuscate the integrity of the election.

Bonhomme... same judge, same day, three different orders... the last order seized the voting machines and ordered the state to turn over their contract with Dominion to plaintiffs immediately. The fact that Sydney Powell and Lin Wood got injunctive relief tells me the judge was very convinced by the evidence they provided in their initial pleading.

141 Anyone know what's up with this judge in GA who ordered the voting
machines to go untouched, then hours later reversed his order?

_______________

According to an article I read this a.m., the reason the judge
reversed the original order was because the plaintiffs (who write the
orders for the judges to sign) had named the wrong people in the order.
The original order named elections commissioners and not actually the
people who had physical custody of the voting machines. So when the
defendants pointed that out, the plaintiffs submitted another order for
the judge to sign, which named the correct custodians of the machines.

Basically it was just a matter of the paperwork not being correct,
it wasn't the judge changing his mind or being bought off or threatened
or anything like that.

This stuff happens all the time, even in good firms with good people. [Ask me how I know. Wait, don't ask me.] The firms that never make mistakes are miserable places to work. That's why the legal system generally allows do-overs for process mistakes. (E.g. CA's Code of Civil Procedure sec. 473(b)) And this is why really good paralegals make a lot of $.

I'll repeat what I said over at Althouse's blog: the left for years benefited from the fact that they were an identity with an attached political message. What scares the establishment both left and right is that Trump figured out how to do the same with the right. MAGAism isn't about specific political stances, it's an identity movement centered around being unapologetically patriotic, enthusiastically confrontational, and embracing the idea of upsetting the left. Trump got a lot of people, working-class and otherwise, to see themselves as part of something bigger, and to realize that there is power in that.

I thought the ending to Cheers sucked.

Diane comes back, after having not married anybody else, and she and Sam (who was so in love with her that he gave up his sobriety the first time she left, and gave up his bar and his friends and his life in Boston the second time she left, and who in an episode out in the desert where he thinks he's dying -- years after she left-- calls out Diane's name) get together and have sex. They again decide to marry, and are on their way to Diane's home in CA when both have second thoughts and Sam returns to Boston and his "real love," the bar Cheers.

AYFKM? The bar was his real love? The bar that he sold when Diane left? That was silly. Would have made more sense if he had just said "yeah, I love her, but we just want different things out of life and it's never going to work" or something like that.

Goldman said everyone at the table was sweating bullets because everyone was getting paid a lot of money. Not to mention that if the head of the network caved, then everyone else would try the same thing.
But the guy caved, and Jerry won.

336 i agree that her relationship with Denis is portrayed and the written dialogue is good for her, but Anderson is playing the retired near death 87 year old Thatcher . 354 X-Files was a victim of its own success. They never should have made it about anything. The aliens should have never had a plan humans can work out or recognize, they should have been doing apparently random an insane, confusing things that make sense only to them, as aliens.

It was best as an episodic twilight zone-like show where you got a weird story about something cool and bizarre, but the writers decided it had to be about something and have a big story arc.

The demented compulsion to have a huge story arc in every single show made now (with few exceptions) has ruined TV. Shows that need no big story now have a long connected thing. Stop, please. Its okay in a few rare shows that are deliberately and carefully written to be that way but not everything.

I am convinced that Mandalorian will develop one of these arcs as soon as the showmaker leaves in another season or two.

Trump is escalating by revealing just how fucked up the process was, which makes those results worthless. Basically he's trying to force the legislatures into a position where they either throw out the results, or they face political destruction. If he loses Trump is setting up to spend the next four years gutting the party of a lot of useless cowards.

So far as I can tell, the basic idea is that handing this over to mail in opened the gates of hell.

The Democrats have always been great at community organizing and political machinery and they abused the fuck out of this to increase votes by the 100s of thousands. And this all could have been prevented if the GOP assholes either 1. prevented the mail in nonsense or 2. (and this is I will hate them forever) insisted on employing extant tools to discover fraud.

Let history record that in all but one of these places the entire election power is in the hands of the fucking GOP.

The bright side of this is that if we go extreme and get real fighters in place (just like the fucking left) we can stomp this shit from ever happening again.

I'm hearing the Andrew Jackson was also robbed and 4 years later came back with a vengeance having created a brand new political party.

Now I don't think we should start a new one, but I do think we need take over the GOP much as the communists (spit) took over the Democrats.

I'm hoping for the miracle but all is not lost if this battle is lost. The stakes have become crystal clear and we'd better hold on to the fucking senate.

BSG missed so many opportunities for thought and real drama. Instead that main characters were so stupid. Often, the guys you were supposed to be rooting against had the better arguments. They never took time to develop the different religious groups. They never thought to ask "Hmmm, having women in combat now is kind of detrimental to our survival." Moore seemed incapable of looking at the situation of the characters and coming up with stories to address the problems.

In my opinion there were good episodes. I can see what you are saying there. It is ironic that Heaton is a legit strong conservative. But the thing I disliked the most was the anti parent stuff. Sure he would throw in some love from time to time, but obviously the real Ray Romano had serious issues with his parents. The show was based on his comedy stand up, which I have never seen.
His brother, was the star of the show in my opinion. That guy is a funny guy in real life. He is likely a jerk, but you can say that about anyone.

Always fascinates me. Slavery has been a money making industry ever since the concept was invented. Once it is introduced into a system and not rejected, it quickly muscles out any other form of labor because there is simply no way for any other system (sharecropping, paying a worker for the work they do) to be able to compete fiscally.

We have essentially moved to a Slave based economy- through China. We tart it up with the idea of 'Forced Labor' but it is the same damn thing couched in semantics.

She was on salary, not an intern. She worked in a satellite district office in Fort Walton Beach with one other person; said other person was not in the office that day. If he'd been back home in his district that day, this would be provable through scheduled events and eyewitness testimony.

The story may have had a life of its own because the medical examiner in the case was later revealed to have filed fabricated autopsy reports in other cases. So, you can't have much confidence in his autopsy. The thing is, if you were looking for someone with a motive to kill her, you wouldn't make your first suspect a boss's boss's boss who spent most of his time 900 miles away and likely spent most of his time back home in the part of the district where he actually had a house and where most of the district's voters lived (i.e. 40+ miles to the west of that satellite office). The first person you'd suspect would be a husband or paramour. (NB, at the time she died, Scarborough had already resigned from Congress. He was already divorced from his 1st wife and hadn't yet married his 2d.).

I'll admit that I really liked the reboot BSG pilot, mainly because it ditched the totally out-of-place campiness and comedy of the original series. It's THE FUCKING APOCKYCLIPSE!! IT'S NOT COMEDY!

The overall mood of dread in the pilot was entirely appropriate considering the subject matter and plot. Even the recasting of Starbuck and Boomer as chicks was okay.

But things started spiraling out of control by the middle of the first season, and by the time they all got captured and became insurgents on New Caprica in a painfully obvious Bushitler vs Angelic Freedom Fighters Who Only Engage In Terrorism Because They Have No Choice allegory, I lost interest.

Re: sidebar Slave Labor

Always fascinates me. Slavery has been a money making industry ever
since the concept was invented. Once it is introduced into a system and
not rejected, it quickly muscles out any other form of labor because
there is simply no way for any other system (sharecropping, paying a
worker for the work they do) to be able to compete fiscally.

We have essentially moved to a Slave based economy- through China.
We tart it up with the idea of 'Forced Labor' but it is the same damn
thing couched in semantics.

Posted by: Aetius451AD at November 30, 2020 01:10 PM (lmikk)

Depends on the job. Slaves are assets. Irish and Chinese were just cheap labor. If they die just hire another.

Posted by: Sponge - Office of the President Elect at November 30, 2020 01:12 PM (Zz0t1)

Only if they think that they can get away with it. The more Trump exposes this stuff, the angrier his supporters get. The threat is going to be, "reform the system or you're all out of a job." The right needs to make reforming the voting process a non-negotiable part of any future candidate's platform at the state and local level.

So guess who is in on the vote counting deal.

I mean, sure we're cucks an all, but we get something out of it.

594 Lost I will give you.. but Breaking Bad? The Sopranos?

Dude.
Sopranos is a show about mobsters who murder, destroy, rape, rob, and act horribly every single episode without a shred of hope or goodness.

Breaking Bad is a show about someone dying of cancer becoming a drug kingpin without mercy or kindness

In both shows there are no good people or hope. There's nothing uplifting, nothing positive, and nothing decent. Sometimes there's humor but good lord its like they were deliberately writing things to crush the human spirit.

Whatever happens, they can't take the 2016 results, and her epic loss, away from us.

Yeah, there's an in-universe explanation for that.

And the series finale all but hands you "and now we franchise this thing to take care of people outside of the NYC metro" on a silver platter.

full season and then have to scramble to think about multiple year

613 Funny; I pretty much feel the same way about our Duly-Elected Demoncrats. They lie, cheat, and steal. They're willing to betray the country they were elected to "serve", so long as their kids get sweet gigs doing-nothing-for-big-bucks on foreign Boards of Directors. (Or, alternatively, for massive donations to their "accredited" "charitable" foundations.)
I'm so frustrated that I can't do a damn thing about the fraud, the graft, the betrayal. I look at our three-letter "enforcement" agencies, and realize they are up to their grimy little necks in the same sort of behavior, and have no interest whatsoever in reining in the piecemeal treason being committed by the likes of Feinstein, both Clintons, Biden, and so many more. (And yes I am CERTAIN there are plenty of Republicans with their snouts in the same despicable trough.)

I hate them. I hate them. I *hate* them. They're destroying (-in all likelihood that should be past tense, as in "They have destroyed") this country and the ideals it was founded on. All I had was my one little vote, and they've destroyed that, too.

It's always us, the plebes, the common nobodys, who get screwed when Our Leaders go astray. And now with the obvious corruption of our elections, we no longer have the means of voting out the old Corrupt Bastards and electing a new crew of less-corrupt Bastards.

Very dark mood, here. VERY dark.
