So, at least according to the Governor, it may be unsafe to go to church, but it is always fine to pick up another bottle of wine, shop for a new bike, or spend the afternoon exploring your distal points and meridians. Who knew public health would so perfectly align with secular convenience?”
“Indeed, the Governor is remarkably frank about this: In his judgment laundry and liquor, travel and tools, are all “essential” while traditional religious exercises are not. That is exactly the kind of discrimination the First Amendment forbids. “

Talk to any blue-city police officer and they will tell you that they do not bother to even arrest people for certain crimes -- assault, robbery, etc. -- because they know the DA will not bother to prosecute. So it's a waste of time to even arrest people.

I think Chicago and Baltimore even have official lists of crimes that they explicitly have stated they will not prosecute.

Yes, more evidence is needed, but those who know and understand this stuff will tell you his votes and pronouncements after having been elevated to the Court are NOT consistent with his prior record.

I know at the time people were concerned that he was overly deferential to precedent, but that doesn't explain a lot of what he's done. Not least of which, the "it's a tax" thing.

There is an well known exception to the mootness doctrine for situations that are likely to recur yet will evade review. this is a good example of that exception.

the whole Oh we don't have to rule on this trope, is like saying well they unconstitutionally convicted this guy and then let him out before we had a chance to rule on his appeal so we wont' rule on it now. Then they unconstitionally put him back in jail and keep him there until the next appeal gets to the supreme court and then they let him out again. Court is supposed to say - sorry - can't get involved that's moot now?

I had a $1400 Bicycle stolen right out of my garage one late night a couple years back.

Stole a bunch of tools, and some hiking equipment as well. That is NOT petty theft.

Made a Police report... and got the bike back about 3 months later, but they just brought the bike back... would not bother to prosecute at the guy who had stolen my stuff was an illegal alien.

Typically when the sitting Chief dies/resigns, the new nominee is picked with the specific purpose of being the Chief, but I think in the past there have been more than a few sitting Justices who get elevated to Chief, and then THEIR Associate Justice seat is filled by a new nominee.

If it is 'that Roberts", that's enough reason for Roberts to do anything it takes to keep Trump out of office for a second term. Trump will expose these shits. I sincerely doubt if he tried to disclose or declassify at this point they'd follow any of his orders.

I'm not so sure however that the Hunter & laptop stuff is going away any time soon. That is something the good guys have direct evidence of, and will keep chipping away at. Whether they actually manage to gain traction with the media blockade is something else entirely.

This is the huge loophole in our current election law that the Dems have exploited. The law appears to be set up so that if a party can cheat its way to a win in the state, no other authority can question that win. What's against us is that California, Oregon, and Washington have been doing this for several cycles now and no one has ever stood up against them. Only the Supreme Court can step in and stop this, but none of us can say if they will or not.

That's a legit point, chique. TDS has led to some really wild comments and decisions, even from some people we thought knew better. It's further proof that we elected the right guy. But, Roberts's record at SCOTUS is not what was expected, including some strange positions and decisions on issues that didn't require such sophistry to explain. And these days, suspicion of high officials acting like the targets of thriller novel plots is no longer tinfoil hat territory. Epstein didn't commit suicide, and whoever had the reach do him in his cell has the clout and influence to make a SCOTUS justice toe the line.

It is not up to 'the opposition' to find fraudulent votes, it up to those who ran the election to convince the candidates and their voters that the process is legitimate. They have not only failed but fought efforts to observe and monitor the process to ensure a general confidence in the results.

In other words, the states have not shown the elections to be legitimate and therefore the 'results' are invalid.

As per the original Constitution, that's correct. But factor in the Civil Rights reforms of the 1960's; when some States still wanted to persist in blocking black voters from the polls, it was established that the Federal Courts absolutely could step in on Civil Rights grounds. In fact, in most Southern States the Feds were allowed to dictate all election law. So that's the precedent for what will be argued - that the State Governments violated the Civil Rights of the majority of their voters, in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. That's what we are hoping the Conservative wing of the Court will find.

The issue is that how states run their elections is left up to the states. The question is that is there a Federal remedy for a state's egregious actions related to a Federal election.

I have NO idea how that question will shake out. I know how the liberals on SCOTUS will vote because that's a simple power calculation.

I have no idea how the rest of the justices will vote. Let's presume for the sake of this argument that there is incontrovertible evidence of fraud. If a state's highest court refuses to act, what are the Federal grounds for doing so?

I *think* the equal protection route is the way to go but it's not a straightforward question.

This is the huge loophole in our current election law that the Dems have exploited. The law appears to be set up so that if a party can cheat its way to a win in the state, no other authority can question that win. What's against us is that California, Oregon, and Washington have been doing this for several cycles now and no one has ever stood up against them. When I researched Arizona's auto/request recount laws, I was surprised to see that

1 - auto recount only happens if the race is within 200 votes
2 - requesting a recount is not allowed

So all one has to do in order to win in Arizona is make sure you win by 201 votes.

Pretty ridiculous.

I have no idea if there is a way to fool-proof the voting process.

But one idea might be to put redundancy in the process. There will be two full counts of the votes. The first count the day of the election and then an automatic recount the following day. By completely different groups of people. No one involved in the first count can be involved in the recount.

If the counts do not match, then an investigation is opened to find out why.

Granted, I'm sure there is probably a way the Left could corrupt that process too.

What is interesting is that we do not get a "receipt" for our vote.

We get receipts -- proof of purchase -- for everything we buy. Yet, we do not get a receipt after casting out vote.

Information like when we casted it, what vote number we were in the state at the time and then a list of all the people for whom we casted a vote.

And then you would think that you could easily access a state database where you can check your ballot. Maybe there is a way to do this already, but I haven't found it. Could just be a snapshot of your filled out ballot you could access.

Article IV, Section 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

Equal protection would be the other obvious route, but that would start to get at more technical issues rather than the fraud directly.

Does North Korea have a republican form of government? They have elections and everything. If the answer is no because the elections are fraudulent, that would seem equally applicable here.

It's unclear whether he was immediately present, but Paul's exposition suggests he was not. Our general experience would also tend to suggest that women are a great way to get at men indirectly, which I don't think would work so easily if it were explicit.

That's more incidental since it's pretty rare. Most women won't marry a man who makes less than them(high earning women consequently marry at lower frequencies).

The main issue you tend to see is that men in the US (and Brazil is the only other comparably bad country in this respect) have absorbed the notion of equalism, which just doesn't work. A man trying to be equal to his wife usually ends up acting as a servile yes-man, which makes the wife unhappy.

My machine shop/manufacturing career was essentially over on the day NAFTA went into effect on 1/1/94. That's when I really started to study politics and realize that there are a metric fuckton of people here in the country of my ancestors (dating back to 1750) that aren't American and feel no responsibility to this land or their fellow citizens. How our so-called "leaders" could eliminate a stable and honest sector of our economy and still sleep at night without their conscience bothering them remains a mystery.

It's been eye-opening to say the least.

I think it's worth considering the lower class "voting bloc" is not really a thing, but that since voting is so fully controlled by the Democrat Party, they can just make up however many votes they want, from a bloc that is more indifferent to voting than most of us realize.

In other words, if you "register" hundreds of thousands of voters in these shithole cities, and the people there basically look at government as a menace to their lives... why would we expect them to be voting at nearly 100% (or more) in all these elections?

Or Birmingham AL either. There used to be a big steel mill right next to First Avenue that was outdoors because molten metal. A young Boy loved to look out the car window at night when passing by to see all the goings-on and the pouring of the pigs and the sparks and the people doing all that wonderful stuff that made our lives the envy of the world at the time.

We need to reclaim that. There's no reason we have to settle for a decline of any type. We're way past hoping the people who represent us in DC will do the right thing. When I mentioned that's not fair to the public school students three miles away in another neighborhood and that they should share all of their auction money, they went ballistic. Why is it ok for your kids to have so many advantages when the kids who really need the support don't get it?

They said, move to our neighborhood.

I said homes in your neighborhood average 800k. Only rich people live here. Diversity does not exist for them. And they like it that way.

States must guarantee their citizens a republican form of government which fraud denies them. Also there are due process claims that SCOTUS has ruled on before and will likely use as the basis of their opinion this time (though I would love them to rule based on this depriving honest citizens of a republican form of government).

Even more painful in my view is that most public education has been completely reconstructed to provide services to get people to go to college and a profession or a sinecure. Realistically, you can't have a country of all lawyers and accountants. Training for the trades, which now pays quite well because of the shortage we generated this way, as well as various practical skills is important.

As I noted above, the grounds are the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment; a Federal level protection that applies to the States.

"No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Defrauding the majority is denying those voters the equal protection which they are guaranteed.

I have been here since around that time too. Though probably closer to 2008-2009 for me. Just have a different nic now than I did back then.

Reason I know is because I get hits from time to time on my old blog posts from back then when I was ripping on ace and HotAir for basically being GOPe and blind to the Deep State.

So it's ironic that ace now is -- and has been for years -- ripping on HotAir and most others involved with the GOPe and Deep State.

Been interesting to see the evolution of AoSHQ over the past 10-15 years, from the blog authors to the blog authors' ideologies to the commenters and the commenters' ideologies.

As a third generation victim of Jesuit education at both the secondary and post graduate levels, Jesuit education is more conservative than state and "Ivy League" schools only in the fact that Jesuits for the most part are still very pro-life. Then I recalled that the decision is unsigned.
So with the concurrences and dissents, that leaves Alito, Thomas, or Coney-Barrett writing the decision itself.
And thinking about that, I seem to recall some tradition about letting the newest justice deliver the next unanimous decision the court makes.
Since this was not unanimous, that suggests Coney-Barrett wrote it, and Alito and Thomas just kicked back with cold ones while Gorsuch and Kavanaugh flayed the proggies plus Roberts.
Which suggests a truly intriguing dynamic going on.
