Titian Sebastian.jpg

Saint Sebastian
Tiziano Vecellio

This is one of Titian's last works, and it is radically different than another Saint Sebastian he did when he was much younger, part of the Averoldi Polyptych.

I think the contrast is fascinating.

49 CBD, You are right about the huge difference between the earlier version and this one. The dark background and rather muddy palette gives an ominous feel beyond the death of a martyr. Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of this version is that Saint Sebastian appears to be fully awake as arrows piece his body.

The process was basically unregulated for a long time, so bishop-rank types were declaring saints. And we all know bishops aren't impeccable. The canonization of various assholes is why the process became formalized like it is today.

Lots of people have bad experiences with all types of leadership/authority. Doesn't mean it is always wrong.

The sheep/shepherd metaphor seems apt in a lot of ways, assuming the shepherd always keeps in mind his role to be looking out for the interests of the sheep.

Because yeah, left to their own devices, sheep get themselves into all sorts of messy situations.

This effort was half-assed and kind of dull.

Pretty much what I expected.

Feinstein's "dogma" bit at ACB's circuit committee hearing made ACB a conservative star overnight. They knew Mitch wasn't going to fuck around and lose.

They knew they had lost this fight the second they heard that RGB had died.

I simply do not know whether polling has somehow improved (which I doubt), whether all the non-polling indicators which indicate a Trump win are true, and whether surrogate measures such as pres. approval, the better off question, who do you expect to win, voter enthusiasm, are a better measure than direct measures.

So now they go with demented male version of Hillary ... and promise to cheat even more (with Plandemic for cover) ... and Goog/FB/etc. even more refined in their propaganda machine.

That puts us in uncharted waters imo (and I depend on Dave/tmj/etc. for poll analysis) ... so those are new and powerful unknowns. But Good Grief ... the pee pee thing was fake on its face, the Hunter and 10% Joe things are verified six ways from Sunday ... and Joe can't get 100 people, and Kamala is equally disastrous.

Trump in a Romp ... hold Senate, take back the House ... unless they have more mind control over the "silent majority" than is reasonable to expect. Prayer and Fasting ... divine intervention ftw.

209 Nevada is more promising than I thought, fraud is a problem, but it looks like it is 50/50. Dems have cannibalized their Election day votes.
---
I think so. But:They can still easily dump 100k mail votes on election day. So ....

That was what I've been looking for in the returns.
Yes, the Dems are crushing R in mail-in by 100k.
But Rs lead in-person by 47k. And they're growing the gap in each days returns.

Prior elections were roughly 2/3 early, 1/3 Election Day.
Dems won both phases.

Dems won Clark Co by 80k in 2016; they only lead now by 70k-- That's with an 85k advantage in mail-in ballots.

Statewide, On 10/22, there were 269k mail votes and 157k early.
On 10/26, its 384k mail and 314k early.
That's not the mail vote trajectory the dems need.

OTOH--700K votes have be cast this year, 976k in 2016. With still yet a week of early voting and election day to go.

With independents breaking 50% for Trump in 2016 .... NV is roughly tied right now

I keep an eye on NV because, not for its EV, but for predicting other states-- Trump winning there, proof the polling is way off.
And that his GOTV is better than anyone knows.

Tomorrow, Trump is technically in AZ, but it's really Las Vegas.

Best way to do that is probably Article 5. We could do other SCOTUS-related reforms as well, like my idea that any court decision that would create law or reinterpret settled law must be submitted to the legislature for a vote before.

Removing the Court's status as a de-facto super legislature is essential to restoring it to its proper orbit.

And yet... my own little observation, yesterday at the grocery store the number of people not wearing masks increased substantially. There have been no changes in state policy (of course), but I'd say a significant minority were maskless.

9 justices is codified in statute, and it can easily be expanded with a piece of legislation. It would require passing by or completely bombing out the legislative filibuster in order to achieve (which is one reason I'm not that concerned about it actually happening).

However, suddenly presented with either a 12-3 conservative court or a 6-3 one, progressives may prefer the 6-3.

No, just no. You follow the will of the people, who have come out strongly against court packing.

This is about winning. The winning play is forcing the Dems to outright oppose what the people want. An amendment prevents them from changing the rules when they have the ball. thus, they will oppose it, which the GOP can run against to increase their majority in the next election (or just get enough states to agree to the amendment without congress).

If the GOP tries to pack the court, the only ones who will be happy about it are the GOP. The Dems will flip to the offensive and the independents will attack the GOP right away. You'll be handing democrats the cover they need not only to pack the court themselves (which they'll do anyway) but pack it with a majority approval.

An amendment lets the GOP win on their terms and preserves the institution of the USSC

There has been no actual ballot counting, but there is a count of ballots cast, by political party totals.
The thinking is that the Dems vote early more often than Republicans. Day of election voting is supposed to favor Trump/Republicans.

I don't know if that model is true, but it is supposed to bring some comfort. The county I live in is pretty heavily Republican, and early voting has been going on for several weeks (started Oct 6 in Ohio).
I early voted last Saturday afternoon, while the wife dropped off her absentee ballot in the box at the county courthouse.
The place was not swarming with people (although it was on the day when early voting started), but a steady trickle of people were coming in to vote last Saturday.

Yes, but based on historical voting patterns and new voter registrations we can make some projections that are at least reasonable.

And early voters tend to be high intensity so it's unlikely there is some undetected blue wave of Republican flipping to Joe in Florida of all places.

Where it really gets interesting is places like Miami and Palm Beach Country. Republican are actually ahead in Miami and trailing by under 200 in Palm Beach. And the greatly hyped claim that Trump was bleeding support from older voters doesn't appear to be playing out either.

Still a long way to go but this is not shaping up the way the media polls and prognosticators told us it would.

This is nuts to me, do they think they can bend reality to their will? Are they so fragile they can't take bad news? Or do they intend to cheat and need fake numbers to back that up? The third answer is the only reason I can see to keep the polls where they are. The great thing about a Trump victory is maybe the whole horse race "who's ahead in the polls?" coverage would go away and the media would be forced to start talking about where the candidates stand on actual issues. (I can dream, can't I?) But seriously, I don't understand what the media gains from keeping a false narrative on the state of the race gets them.

340 320 ollsters that disagree with the analysis Nate Silver is giving are being personally attacked and bullied to "get back in line" and adjust their polls to fit the "Biden easy win" narrative.
The pressure is being applied by the MSM, media polling units, and Dem operatives.
Posted by: Dave in Fla

This is nuts to me, do they think they can bend reality to their will? Are they so fragile they can't take bad news? Or do they intend to cheat and need fake numbers to back that up? The third answer is the only reason I can see to keep the polls where they are. The great thing about a Trump victory is maybe the whole horse race "who's ahead in the polls?" coverage would go away and the media would be forced to start talking about where the candidates stand on actual issues. (I can dream, can't I?) But seriously, I don't understand what the media gains from keeping a false narrative on the state of the race gets them.
Posted by: MaureenTheTemp at October 27, 2020 10:46 AM (GZ/yK)

It lends itself to the idea that polls are intentionally wrong in order to try and de-legitimatize the election if Trump wins.

If there are pollsters out there getting it right, then the plan won't work. They all have to be in on the scam.

They may have to cut that dividend, in half is still OK with me. Sure seems that oil has to go above $40+ in due time ... fracking needs more like $50+ imo. Buying oil stocks now might be a way to play a Trump win, idk.

The mother lode of votes in our Philly collar county was not touched because Bucks, Delaware and Chester Counties are fighting JW in court.

***One good thing that came out of the JW suit is that it was discovered that bucks, chesco and delco seriously underreported their voters who had moved out of the county...This could be a critical component if any challenges to the collar county votes are mounted after November 3.

Brexit: You had a full-court press by the media, all sorts of politicians, EU politicians, foreign leaders, and organized groups telling people they needed to vote to stay in the EU. The vote wasn't even close. Oops.

Then you had the UK general election, in which Boris was constantly being bashed, the media was in the tank for Labour even though Corbyn was an anti-Semitic socialist, and the talking heads were predicting the best the Tories could hope for was a minority government. The Tories ended up expanding their majority and Labour was humiliated.

Imagine you're the leader of China. The welfare and fate of 1.5 billion people hinge on your decisions. You've struggled with population control, famine and a hundred other problems. 65% of your country's healthcare budget is taking care of the elderly.

One day, a team of your top biological scientists tell you that they can engineer a virus that basically only affects the old and infirm. They say children are safe and middle aged are fine unless they have a serious underlying condition. If deployed, millions of unproductive, expensive "excess population" would be gone in a matter of months.

I don't think there's an intentional systematic thing going on. There are way too many polling companies out there to be a grand collusion. I think it's just following the herd. If everyone thinks Biden will win and you get a result showing Trump winning, you think to yourself, we must have done something wrong. So you adjust the numbers to conform to what EVERYONE knows to be true. And then when everyone does it, it builds on itself.

Then you have the odd true polling from places like Trafalgar that show reality.

Where is Hallie Biden? We are talking about a person who has 15-20 years of not privileged corroborating eye witness testimony of Hunter, Beau, and Joe, ect.... Do they share the camera roll since getting together after Beau Biden died because the Camera roll began around then. Get this - CW's 'Stargirl' had 13 episodes, was really fun to watch and no gay characters. At all. In 13 episodes.

That has to be a record...

I just re-watched "Cobra Kai" Seasons 1-2 on Netflix. I originally watched the series on YouTube a year or so ago.

They were going along nicely until 2nd to last episode they made one of the secondary female characters a lesbian. Well, sortof. She dated and dumped one of the main male characters earlier in Season 2. Then I guess she went bi-curious.

That was probably just a carrot to the SJWs to leave the show alone, to get the obligatory gay character in the show without ruining anything of the main storylines.

Looking forward to Season 3 in January and hoping SJWs did not influence anything with the move to Netflix.

But yeah, gonna pass on "Saved by the Bell" reboot. Even "The College Years" with Bob Golic was better than what this is previewed to be.

474 The story being played out by Bannon and the Dissident Chinese through the camera roll is Hallie Biden and Hunter Biden's relationship timeline.
So where is Hallie Biden? Why does she not have custody of Natalie?

Hallie Biden has flipped. They have her. She has the goods on the Biden Crime Family.

All of this from a phonefag without a desk browsing evidence in my spare time here and there the last 48 hours. Embarrassing that our Law enforcement agencies and MSM/ConInc can't figure this out with all the evidence.
