People kind of talked openly about things and in a lot of circles it was openly accepted that the left, hippies, were scum. Lifetime Democrats would even agree. There.was no need for friggin Twitter because people weren't pussies about discussing things like grown damn men.

And then it suddenly became the fact that all aspects of what any crazy leftist person said must be accepted and any push back and you were a nazi. This seemed to happen over night. I know it was three decades or more and planned for a good part of a century but the difference was so sharp and qick.

We can't talk with each other anymore. Have disagreements anymore. Society can't survive this way.

138 What were you doing ten years ago?

Ten years ago little was in 1st grade.

I was chosen to appear as Santa Claus for the class Christmas Party. As in was on my way to school with a sack full of small presents I had purchased out of my own pocket for the kids, I received a call from one of the home room mothers asking if I could hold off 20 minutes from the scheduled arrival time.

"No problem", says I. So I stopped at a Walgreens and picked up a bag of chocolates and decided to pop in on the kindergarten class while I waited.

I entered the Kindergarten class and addressed the teacher by name and gave all the little kiddies a piece of chocolate and Ho Ho Ho'd and all of that.

I then went to the first grade building as rescheduled. Upon arrival the phone rang in the classroom and the teacher answered and got a startled look on her face.

"What? I don't know?" she said. Then, as if something had just occurred to her she said "Wait" and turned and looked at me. "Did you stop at the elementary class?"

"Yes" says I.

Returning to the phone she says "No. No. That was Little Clinger's dad. Okay." Hangs up.

She turns to me and says "They didn't know it was you and put the school on lockdown. They called the police, but they are calling them back."

And this is the story of how I was almost shot as a school intruder while dressed as Santa Claus.

* I later learned that the maintenance guys were summoned as well and they were both ex-Marines that carried on campus.

208 Shelby Steele, a black conservative who teaches at Stanford, has written and narrated a film about the death of Michael Brown (the "hands up" guy shot in Ferguson by the cop he punched).

Amazon is refusing to allow the film to be sold on its platform, on the grounds that it does not meet Amazon's "content quality expectations."

Steele has a Ph.D. (in English), has won a National Book Critics Circle Award, and is a senior fellow at Stanford.

But his film isn't up to Amazon's "quality expectations." AYFKM?

Amazon's "expectations" are that everybody will toe the leftist line and repeat the lies about Brown that the race baiting MSM and all the race hustlers like Sharpton and Crump have been peddling for years now.

And if an actual black academic like Steele tries to correct the record and tell the truth about what happened, Amazon shuts him out.

F*ck these fascists.

384 Let's see here, October 2010...

I received a handsome inkjet-printed certificate and a sturdy, practical duffle bag as a 10-year-anniversary of employment gift from the company I worked for at the time (USIS).

I traded in my 2005 Jeep for a 2011 Jeep.

I went on a little fall photo excursion through western Pennsylvania, and took some really nice pictures near Turkey City.

Attended a Japanese tea ceremony run by an incredibly hot Japanese professor at a somewhat-local university (I later asked her out and got shot down, ironically, on December 7th of that year.)

Went with some friends to see Black Label Society performing at Station Square in Pittsburgh. Zakk Wylde was awesome.

Purchased a used Thompson/Auto-Ordnance 1911A1 .45 ACP.

I know these things because I'm good about taking photographs and organizing them by date.

Vanity Fair had a few articles about the buttholes, and from what I skimmed, some studio executives were shown an early butthole cut without warning, and literally wtf'd staffers into rewinding and replaying sections to be sure they really saw what they thought they'd seen.

Her first solo album is pretty good IMO. I was in a Top 40 band back then that played a Buckingham-Nicks song called "Don't Let Me Down Again." Never heard another band cover that particular tune. Of course we had a female lead singer who was banging the lead guitarist at the time.

The guy understands the technical side of filmmaking as well as any filmmaker alive. I have a feeling that his ex-wife, Gale Anne Hurd, provided a lot of the stuff that made his movies narratively interesting. Once she was gone from that partnership, something went missing.

I so hate, with a passion, the following sentence when thinking of a first date:

"Take her to a movie."

One, I don't care for most movies (last one I saw in a theater was MCMXVII back in January) amd two, even if I did, the point of a first date is to see if she's worth talking to, if she can carry on a conversation with you; something typically frowned upon in most theaters.

517 Ten years ago pretty much sucked. Husband died, lost my clients, I had no income and I was saddled with a house 1500 miles away that I couldn't afford to keep up, sited in the worst real estate market in the US. Plus the guy I was seeing at the time was a world class narcissist/user who was obviously cheating on me. I had quit smoking eight years earlier and I was up to a pack a day again.

It was good preparation for 2020, so I guess I have that going for me.

Every New Years since 2009 I said I'd like to have a year I'm sorry to see go. I'm still waiting, but at least this year I will have lots of company.

Editors cut vs normal version.

Just watched two Editor cuts, that were MUCH better than the original.

Tom Hanks 'That Thing That you Do'.... Music the same, but explains a lot of background stuff.

Yeah, Kingdom of Heaven is widely regarded as one of the Director's Cuts that improves the movie the most.

Fox thought they were buying an adventure movie, but Scott and his writer were trying to make a David Lean epic set in the Crusades.

Cutting an hour out of it made it harder to understand and thinner. The Director's Cut is one of his finest movies.

We should have colonized it rather than fuck around half-assed for about eight years under Obama.

587 An idea for an updated "Titanic" - can someone do a remake and have Jack Dorsey, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, George Soros, and Bill Gates onboard?

They can all be attending a TED talk in the grand ballroom when the iceberg hits. And they can't be rescued because the lifeboats are computerized - by Microsoft - and they get an error reading on the control panels. They can't figure out how to manually row boats so all the techies die.

It would be the best comedy ever.

So's a red-hot needle in your dickhole.

A lot of people remember their 20s fondly. Not so much for me. All my own doing, of course, but still shitty. I also had to arrange for the last half of them to be during Obama's wreck of an economy. Fuck all of that.

I will say that I'm probably one of the few people who left his administration better off than when it began, though.

We'd probably have a few ski resorts there had we done that.

I NEED to see that side of CO. I lived there for a time growing up and never got west of the Eisenhower Tunnel. I've seen much more of the eastern third of CO.

But it blew chunks. Titanic sucked, too. The last two film I saw in a theater were Miyazaki's Spirited Away, and Pacific Rim. Loved both films. But I've been accused of having rather odd taste in movies.

596 Ten years ago?

Gee that was the early Obama administration, and the beginning of the Tea Party.

Almost precisely tens years ago to this very day, I wrote one of my personal all-time favorite zombietime posts:

http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/?p=1644

The Electric Tea Party Acid Test: memo to America's hippies

In this essay, I posit that the Tea Partiers were not merely the spiritual inheritors of the "counter-cultiure" of the 1960s -- i.e. those who fought against the Powers That Be -- but that are in fact the same exact people.

"This is a memo to America's hippies:

Tea Party values are hippie values.

You heard me right. The Tea Party is the one social movement in contemporary America that can rightfully claim to be the ideological heir to the original hippie movement that started in the mid-'60s. And because of this, all current hippies and ex-hippies should support the Tea Party, and by extension Tea Party candidates.

I'd like to have a private heart-to-heart talk with my fellow hippies here, so can the rest of you please stop reading now and leave us alone for a while? Thanks."

It was in this essay that I unveiled "the REAL political spectrum," which I still think is the best-ever political spectrum graphic ever made:

http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/wp-content/ images2010/politicalspectrum.jpg

It's quite a long essay, worthy of a PhD or being published as a book. But even though it was specifically about the 2010 environment of Tea Party vs. Obama, it is in fact still totally applicable today if you change the protagonists to Trump voters vs. Antifa/BLM//woke" corporate culture.

Posted by: Infidel at October 14, 2020 10:08 PM (QCwsj)

601 Trump still doing rallies in GA is either because early voting has started and he's just being thorough, or because it could be to him what Wisconsin was to Hillary, a state that was in play all along, which you take for granted, and then lose right out from under your nose.

Eventually, I sold the house (at a huge, and I mean HUGE loss - I"m still writing it off). Then I broke up with the sociopath (it was a long, painful hassle because he kept trying to weasel back in for years.) And more recently I found steady (fingers crossed) work, too.

It's taken me about this long - ten years - to start feeling normal again, although after that last one I"m pretty much done with relationships. But then we got the pandemic so nobody's dating, so that works out.

607 I was going on 22 months being unemployed after being laid off December 2008.

I was 2 months from being completely broke and having to abandon my house and go back home to Chicago to beg family to take me in.

I had gone through all the unemployment insurance for which I was qualified, gone through all my savings and even gone through all my 401(k) in order to stay afloat.

I was 4 months from losing my house to foreclosure.

I was stressed, depressed, felt completely emasculated and hopeless.

I was 34 years old and felt like my life was over and I had no control over any of it.

But 2 months later, in December of 2010, weeks from being broke, I landed a job (which I still have today) in my area of expertise. An even better job from which I had been laid off 2 years prior.

But OCT-NOV 2010 was the absolute worst and lowest time of my life.
