The U.S. Department of Energy’s 2018 Wind Technologies Market Report glowingly stated: “With the support of federal tax incentives, both wind and solar power purchase agreement (PPA) prices are now below the projected cost of burning natural gas in existing gas-fired combined cycle units.” This is despite the fact that the DOE’s own data show wind’s “capacity factor” (percent of time actually generating electricity at full capability) is only 35%, compared to 57% for natural gas plants and 92% for nuclear. In many locations, huge industrial wind facilities actually generate power well below 30% of the year. On the hottest and coldest days, it’s often close to zero. That’s why nuclear power plants actually produced 20% of U.S. electricity in 2019, despite having only 9% of the nation’s generation capacity. In addition to being weather-dependent, intermittent and unreliable, wind turbines cover vast areas of land; affect scenic views and local wind flow, temperature and moisture; kill bats and birds of prey, with no penalties under migratory bird or endangered species laws; have relatively short life spans and require massive amounts of raw materials, especially for ocean turbines, compared to coal, gas, hydroelectric or nuclear plants; involve enormous air and water pollution in faraway countries where a lot of the mining, processing and manufacturing are done, before turbine parts are shipped to America; and more.

Specifically, he could trigger the coffee maker to turn on the burner, dispense water, spin the bean grinder, and display a ransom message, all while beeping repeatedly. In a plea deal with prosecutors, Katrina Morgan, 50, copped to disorderly conduct with persistence, a misdemeanor, in connection with a late-night 911 call in May. Morgan was intoxicated when she placed the call while at a friend’s home in Port Clinton, a city on Lake Erie. After entering her plea in Ottawa County Municipal Court, Morgan was sentenced to 10 days in jail, though the execution of the sentence was suspended as long as she avoids trouble for the next year. I don't understand people like John Legend.
He has everything someone in his profession can ask for. He has a degree from an Ivy League university (Penn). He's a multi-platinum recording artist. He is actually one of the few people in the entertainment industry to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.
With all of that, he decides to squander all of that talent and goodwill for a quixotic quest for political relevance. That, and a wife with questionable taste and morals, especially if those deleted tweets were an accurate reflection of what goes on in that 'mind' of hers.

For them though, adoption is like a different language. For many, they want abortion rather than the thought of being tied down with a kid. The idea of going out of your way to find and take in a kid that is not even your own blood is incomprehensible. They cannot understand that people feel an emptiness in their lives. Something that should be there and isn't. A duty unfulfilled. Or just enjoy being parents and raising kids.
Dems (or rather many of the activists especially) are very very damaged.

And since SCOTUS is tied 4-4, the rulings will stand.

1. How many Americans are comfortable with the IRS / NYT conspiring to illegaly obtain and leak protected tax documents in order to take down a political rival? How many would be comfortable with the neighbor they had a conflict with being able to obtain and publish your private financial/bank/tax documents?

I've seen theories that women vote for compassion and somehow see Dems as winning on that topic because social programs.
I would think the independent women voter would wants jobs, security and low tax rates first and foremost.

IIRC, at the time it was a thing, it was supposed to have been a much less bitter brew. It was insanely expensive, of course.

Because they've heard nothing like it from any level of govt., up to this moment. If they knew and understood it, then of course they'd not fear the polling places, or at most vote absentee, which zillions all over do anyway for convenience.
It would be nice to see the constitution and rule of law make a late comeback, as might be starting (and WI lucked out with their state-level supreme court, bigly, already).
But if we emerge from this episode with the current mass indoctrination/misunderstanding of viral epidemics, whoa, just a matter of time til we replay this debacle.

US Constitution Article II:
Each State shall appoint, *in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct,* a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress:
The important part is in between the asterisks. So it's not about Federal Election per se, just the appointing of Electors to the Electoral College.

Look for similar rulings regarding MI and PA next month. I think both states have GOP controlling at least one chamber, so they won't change the rules for a made up emergency.

I do not think that will happen for one simple reason. By law in GB, the Queen has custody of all royal children. She may not choose to exercise physical custody rights but she could if she wanted (and Kings and Queens have exercised that right in the past).

singer who got popular. Doesn't happen often. She was an excellent Jazz

Massive fraud almost certainly has to be combined with somehow closing polling places, but then you still have to get the ballot, which means the voter isn't going to vote themselves.
I've been wondering the last few days of this won't backfire on the Dems. They lose more votes from incorrectly completed absentee ballots than they get from fraud.
I still don't believe they can fraudulently produce enough votes to overcome Trump voters showing up on election day.

Don't know if you saw my post upthread or watched the whole vid, but it seem Ilhan's machine has worked around all this.
You don't have to find absentee ballots of non-voters; you go to everyone's house and you order them not to vote in person and threateningly add that you'll be back to pick up their ballot and it better filled in right.
You don't have to close polling places; you can effectively close them to anyone whose vote you've already harvested.
Yet another reason why ballot harvesting should be outlawed.

The ballot can be finagled. A sympathizer at the voting location can let you know whether the individual showed up to vote in person. I think most of the time you can get evidence of whether or not they requested an absentee ballot. And if they did, and you've got a corrupt ally on the inside at the Post Office, then the mailed in ballots for people from particular area (particularly ones that trend for the other party) might get misplaced. And then like magic, a complete set of ballots corresponding to all of those missing ballots might suddenly turn up in the most unexpected locations.
Also, if you're completely confident that a voter didn't request an absentee ballot (doesn't apply in some states this year, since voters are getting mail-in ballots by default), and didn't vote in person, then a "sympathetic" poll worker might "helpfully" fill out a ballot "just the way that the voter in question would have voted" if he or she had been able to show up and vote in person.

I came very late to that post this afternoon about that Hayek Cafe article noting how much better off we are in 2020 than 1975. The metric for better being nothing but a very technical and naive measure of technological capability and cost per unit.
After thinking about it for a while, if I could step through some portal back into 1975, I would do so with no regrets.
I could step back into the world of my 8 yr old self and do just fine. I'd miss some things, like computers and the internet (but not smart phones and social media), and some conveniences of Amazon and all that, but I'd happily be so deprived.
I could step back into that world, with one, plain black Western Electric model 500 dial phone in the den and be happy with it. I hop right in the '74 Ford LTD and drive it around with a smile on my face.
And that evening, I sit down in front of the huge 70s TV set with 3 main channels plus some shit on UHF and wouldn't miss much. At 11:30, Johnny Carson would come on and I'd enjoy the hell out his monologue.
I would not feel the least bit deprived.

This technique is pretty old and it is limited because you have to find the absentee ballots of people who don't vote. Massive fraud almost certainly has to be combined with somehow closing polling places, but then you still have to get the ballot, which means the voter isn't going to vote themselves.

You're limiting your understanding of corruption.
Ballot harvesters collect the ballots, then steam them open and either update the vote, or replace the ballot completely with a fake one.
Ballot harvesters also get good at casually talking with the voters they visit, and can usually tell which candidate their mark voted for.
They keep the ballots for their guy, and dump the other ones, or like I said earlier, steam the envelope open.
Or they figure out the ballot is for the other guy, and just change the conversation and leave it.
The counting machines don't check the ballot ID # for validity.
There were maybe 4 R House races in Cali during the 2018 campaign that led at the end of the night's counting, only to lose a week later.

I have a "best of" CD of his earlier stuff, and listening to his voice when he was 40-ish is even more amazing than the later stuff. His breath control and ability to hang on a note are incredible.

Ballot harvesting is illegal in many states, but not Cali, that made it legal a couple of years ago. I don't believe it has been tested in court.

Trump won PA by 44k votes in 2016, and he did it with basically no ground operation. This year, he has a ground operation and the state is more Republican.
By my calculations, Trump needs only one state in the Rust Belt (PA, WI, MN, or MI). If Trump voters show up to the polls on election day, we will win.

Which is why Mayor Jenny can't even veto anything those twinkies pass, like defunding police while unrest continues. And the local newspaper investigating anything? The Seattle Times should properly re-name their paper "The Democrat Newsletter of Puget Sound." I was thinking the same thing. I recall that there are a very few 100 percent America cigars. Many cigars are made here, like those made in Tampa. And the Connecticut Broad Leaf is a common and valuable wrapper. But sure, most cigars are made with non American tobacco. But there are a few American Puros.

I actually did something smart and spread some grass seed in spots. That's always a crapshoot unless you are going to water continually. This rain is a godsend for that.

I don't know enough about him either other than what we all know. I believe it was six or seven years ago when he really went off. I know at one point he blamed the U.S. for 9/11. He said they told us to stop bombing them and we didn't. Another instance was when he said if we did not enact more gun control laws, we would go the way of Nazi Germany.
I think he kind of sorta apologized for some of it but that might not be accurate. He probably realized he pissed off a lot of fans and had to do a bit of damage control. But there are places you can't go to and then come back from. At least six or seven years ago, there was something really off about that guy.

When I was still working I would set up the pot and timer the night before.
Worse thing was if we had even a slight electric outage. Come downstairs to blinking 12:00 on the maker...and no coffee

We only counted 1 sign per yard or business (in Trump's case most had several, and we counted into the U.P. to our property)

As some here know I live in Hong Kong (expat tax refugee) but was in the US recently (August into September) on vacation for three weeks and drove through Arizona and also New Jersey, PA, Connecticut, MA and New York - both upstate and downstate. I also observed the signs as I went. I was also in the US when Trump first got elected in 2016.
First - Arizona is going Trump. I counted many Trump signs of varying sizes and shapes and types. Also Trump cars, flags etc. - all over from painted on tractors in the middle of nowhere, to signs in yards in large towns to signs in Phoenix. Biden signs? not very many, mostly in sections of Phoenix, a few in earthy crunchy Sedona. Almost no Biden signs anywhere in Northern Arizona except those on the county dem headquarters in one town I drove through.
In Ma - there were a few Biden signs in Boston as you might imagine, and in the suburbs, but otherwise not even close to the number of Hillary signs in 2016. Not even close. I even saw some Trump signs in Western MA.
In Connecticut I saw a few Biden signs in Madison where, in 2016, Hillary signs were everywhere (It's a wealthy seaside community made up of liberal transplants from cities). There were a number of Trump signs. In 2016 there were none.
In NY - Not that many Biden signs in NYC ( Queens AOC district!) and in various places. In upstate NY/Western New York there were a lot of Trump signs (a lot more than 2016). Drove back from Upstate and western NY through northern NJ (Wealthy liberal areas) and saw almost no Biden signs. In 2016 - Hillary signs were absolutely everywhere here.
Lastly - Also on the way back from upstate/western NY, I drove through PA. Lots of Trump signs and one "Thank You Trump" Billboard for "bringing manufacturing back to PA"!
If enthusiasm counts for anything - Trump voters seem enthused. Biden's? No so much.
It looks like Trump definitely still has the rust belt - but it is also clear that Biden's nomination has not, I repeat, not brought enthusiasm to any "normal" democrats (yes, there are some left).
My prediction? Trump wins every state he won in 2016 and adds Nevada, New Hampshire, Virginia and Minnesota (yes, Minnesota). I think there will be one more surprise in the states won by Trump category and it will be a doozy ( as in potentially NY or CA) . If Trump campaigns in either of those states hard - I think he wins. Voters are pissed, especially in NY. Voters hate, with a blinding searing heat, DiBlasio and Cuomo . Neither is on the ticket this year - so the only way to send a message is to Vote Trump! Which I think many will.
Repubs take back the house and add to the Senate by a few votes making idiots like Murkowski and Collins superfluous.
