Democrat-Encouraged BLM Riots The Costliest In History, Costing Americans At Least Two Billion Dollars... So Far

Remember, presidential candidate Kamala Harris declared that it was "critical" that the BLM riots continue:

On the June 18 edition of his show, Colbert said to Harris: "Because it seems to me it has to be sustained in order to maintain the pressure and to maintain that commonality of purpose for people of all races in the United States to bring this kind of justice that is being called for. How important is it for these protests to continue?"

Harris--who did not become Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's running mate until almost two months later in August--indicated that she thought it was "critically important."

"It's critically important," Harris responded to Colbert.

"So, when I made a decision to become a prosecutor, it was a conscience decision which was to go inside the system and have some leverage there to effectuate change," Harris said.

"I say that to say this: The only way we're going to truly achieve change is when there are people in the system who are willing or pushing to do it, and when there are those folks outside of the system demanding it," she said.

The people "pushing" for change are the rioters. The people "demanding" change are the looters. There are various arsonists and murderers lightly peppered into the mix.

And the cost for the "demands" that have been inflicted on us so far: One to two billion dollars.

But that's only the insurable losses.

There are billions in losses that aren't insured.

However, there are many reasons that this figure vastly underestimates the true damage wrought by the looting and violence that has broken out in recent months.

For one, the Axios report only measures insured losses. The obvious problem here is that not all the damages were insured.

As I have previously explained, insurance is no panacea for the societal ills imposed by rioting. Indeed, 75 percent of US businesses are under-insured and about 40 percent of small businesses have no insurance at all. Their untold millions in losses don’t show up in the $2 billion figure.

So, too, insurance doesn’t account for the personal pain and suffering caused by rioting. For example, what about the more than 15 people who died during the unrest? Their lives and their families' pain don't get counted in any insurance company's budgetary analysis. Nor does the pain of those such as an elderly businessman punched in the face while his store was ransacked in Kenosha, Wisconsin manifest itself in total reports on insurance compensation.
