So I went in there with my kids one day (years ago, when they were little), and of course, the place stunk of reptile shit. But the wackiest thing was that he had a 5 -ft (or longer) Komodo dragon loose in the store. Well, it was actually asleep, sunning itself. It woke up and came over to the guy, and he slapped it like a doggie, and was talking to it (the guy was in the process of building some new kind of lizard enclosure).
So yeah, that's pretty wild, going into a store that had a 5-6 ft long Komodo dragon just wandering around.
At some point in time in the future, he went out of business.

Grandkids have started raising chickens. They have hatchlings as well as some grown hens who already lay eggs. SIL built them a ten thousand dollar chicken coop. They are amazingly fun to watch. Very cuddly too.

Grammie- my middle child had an Americauna (they lay blue eggs) she named "Banana." Banana was the leader of all of the hens. Funny thing about her was she knew her name and would come when called. She also enjoyed being held and fed kale from our garden. Sadly, she passed.
Chickens don't seem to live long, but they are fun and teach kids valuable lessons about animals. And its always funny to think they are the descendants of dinosaurs!

In terms of learning, that's probably what should be done. I have a grandson who basically missed the entire 2nd half of 2nd grade, and he's not ready for old time 3rd grade. BUT the school district (and I think all school districts) gave everyone an automatic pass at the end of the year, and so on everyone goes, even if they never learned to properly read or write yet.
So apparently what's going to happen is that 3rd grade will now teach all of the things that were supposed to be taught in 2nd grade, and so on throughout the system. I suppose by the time they get to high school, which has become adolescent day care in most public schools, they hope to finally catch up.

Sad news here. A really neat old guy at my church passed way today. He
was a snipe on a carrier in WWII as a teenager but envied the pilots
they carried. After the war he became a Marine aviator and flew the
Grumman F9F in Korea. A cool old dude.

An aquarium store here in Cincinnati had a shark tank. Not itty bitty sharks, but a couple that were like 6' long. They had plenty of room to swim around, too.
Sadly, the store had gone to pot when I was there last year. Only good point was them telling off some guy who called asking if they carried piranha.

Is it any wonder the Republicans lose elections?. I thought Palin was a smart politician and capable executive from her time in Alaska, but she has really gone off the rails lately. I've done that recently with an old Sig P225. One of the cheap ex Swiss/German police imports with the heel release that was offered back in the late 90s or so. I've always liked it a lot, but I never considered carrying it. I shot it again recently and realized it's not THAT much bigger than my Shield, especially under a sport coat, and I shoot it really well. So it's been going places with me lately and I've enjoyed its company.

You're telling me that Harris needs advice and support from a failed VP candidate to navigate a couple of months of campaigning in which her party is not going to allow her or her running mate to actually go out and campaign? I am glad she did that for you. I am sincere about that. Hell I have my complaints about Trump, but the thing he did was win. I wanted Dole to win, I wanted McCain to win, but they didn't. Trump did win and that matters. Palin took so much heat it is disgusting. But so did Quayle. Not many Dem vp candidates get such vitriol.

I guess I'm just too unforgiving, but if the media shredded me and my family, it'd be really damned hard for me to get into bed with television execs for a few pieces of silver.
I'd be more likely to spend my entire remaining days finding ways to tear the family and public lives of newsfolk down one by one until I watched them all broken and destroyed and eating cold steel by their own hand.
But I'm trying to get past that mindset.

She was a defining moment for me. I went to one of her rallies. My friend was supposed to join me but cancelled last minute. I was on my way home from a 2-day deposition and I figured I could just leave quickly if it was awful
When I drove up, just seeing so many republicans in Southern California, decked out in "Im proud to be an American" garb, made me so happy. I went in -alone- and stayed the entire time. She is a great speaker with amazing charisma. And I thought she was very brave. I've been a committed conservative ever since.
