The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

"SOMEBODY CALL THE POLICE!" shrieked the Antifa thug with a 'DEFUND THE POLICE' sign and an ACAB T-shirt just before he was slammed to the pavement by the driver of the car whose progress he thought he could obstruct.

I've seen a number of videos where there's pushback on Antifa/BLM from normal Americans, either by simply not stopping their vehicles or actually getting out and decking one of the loudmouth protestors.

And I'm surprised (maybe I shouldn't be) how they react most of the time when this happens:

They start screaming "Somebody call the police!"

Isn't that kind of weird?

This is a group that wants to *defund* the police. And now they want *help* from the police who wouldn't be there if they had they way. They want help from from those whom they have previously declared to be bastards, all of them. That's what ACAB means, right?

It looks like the Antifa losers haven't thought through what it means to reject law and order. Because the laws and morality that they despise actually protect them. What if normal Americans did not feel restrained from going out and busting heads? What if the citizens of Portland decided that if the Portland police weren't going to do their jobs, they would do it for them?

If that day ever came, it would go very badly for Antifa/BLM.

In the video below, a scuffle breaks out and it looks like the Antifa losers are getting whupped on pretty good. This is called making them play by their own rules. They claim to have rejected all of the norms and values of Western Civilization. OK then, this is what life is going to be like when you do that. The violence and chaos they bring to others is now being visited on them. It's going to be all against all and only the strong will win. Soy boys with mental health and social adjustment issues will not stand a chance in such an environment. Do they actually think the world of 'Mad Max' is going to be fun?

14 The video from Colorado shows exactly what happens when you say NO to antifa. There are examples of this popping up everywhere.

They're badasses when they are given space to destroy. Not so much when they get punched in the mouth.

Posted by: JackStraw at August 10, 2020 11:14 AM (ZLI7S)

15 Now we have an answer to the contradiction of the Left's stance on cops and guns.
The Left: Guns are bad, and citizens shouldn't have them and only professionals should have them (e.g., cops).
Also the Left: Cops are scum and we shouldn't have them.

This was an apparent contradiction until they showed their hands recently. The only armed men will be cops by another name - their street warriors (Antifa, et. al.).

The law worked two ways in the Wild West and they seem to forget that fact. When lawlessness was met with a shrug of the shoulders the locals took it upon themselves to do the policing.

Yes the law (police) was there to protect the people from the criminals, but the law was also there to protect the criminal (judge and jury) from the vengeful populace.

Keep it up and find out what happens when the fed up people mete out the justice.

Yes, but that's not the entirety of it.

Legal systems and policing was instituted so that common crimes didn't spiral into family/house/clan/factional feuds. By outsourcing the application of justice to the state, which is ostensibly even-handed and neutral, victims could seek redress and see the guilty punished, without having to take matters into their own hands.

The alternative to police is lynch mobs.

This election has a pretty clear parallel to 92, when the public made up it's mind it didn't want Bush for another term and the polls never budged during the Summer/Fall. And Clinton trounced him in Nov.

They want to defund your police.

They want you unarmed and unprotected from their peaceful beatings, lootings, arson, rapes and murders.

That's what they think they want. Getting what you want doesn't always work out like you think it will.

If they get the Police defunded and people start getting raped, murdered and robbed all of the time because of a lack of Cops or criminals getting get out of jail free cards, they will fight back.

You don't want people getting desperate, because when you back someone into a corner like that with nothing left to lose, they will act accordingly.

There are reasons why guns sales are through the roof and climbing.

.45ACP ammo here went from .38 cent a round in march to .62 cents a round last week. People are buying a whole lot of ammo along with those new guns.

So far this nonsense has mostly been contained in large blue Cities, if it ever starts to creep into red neighborhoods we will see stuff happening like in the video above.

101 I believe NOTHING IS HAPPENING.

Because, nothing has happened so far. (twitter world stuff follows)

I am a sundance skeptic obviously, and past couple of weeks, while he was on his "mission" he started a "hey guys I know you are skeptical but I am confident something is happening!"

Then this shipwreckedcrew guy, who was DoJ prosecutor and in DoJ for 22 years is like yeah, something is happening! But not what sundance thinks.

Then the sundance crew lit out after shipwreckedcrew because he was an unbeliever! And then they hashed it out. Something is happening, just wait. Because that is always the answer. Just wait.

So, anyway, both sundance and shipwreckedcrew have cooled on the idea that something is happening.

So I come back to NOTHING IS HAPPENING.

107 Communist revolutions work when enough of the people buy the lie that it "is better."

Once they swallow that lie, these zealots are all-in.
We've seen this work in Vietnam, Cuba, Russia, and other situations where the government was so corrupt that the communists could effectively sell the lie.
That's not true here. There is still enough good in US Free Market Capitalism and Representative Democracy that we will fight for it.
However, the existence of this many communists confirms that we have lost the war of the schools. A huge number of our kids are brainwashed. A huge number of our people are hooked on "being victims," and will buy any lie - and fight to the death for it.
We must re-engage, there. Simply kicking their asses is addressing the symptoms, but it won't cure things.

The police should be supported and appreciated as long as the law is just.

They should be treated warily when the law is unjust, but there is still hope of redress. They might be friend or foe, and it can be hard to tell which. Caution is the order of the day.

When the law is unjust and beyond any reasonable hope of reform, there is no moral duty to follow it, nor respect its enforcers. See the masthead for how to live under such conditions.

212 Legal systems and policing was instituted so that common crimes didn't spiral into family/house/clan/factional feuds. By outsourcing the application of justice to the state, which is ostensibly even-handed and neutral, victims could seek redress and see the guilty punished, without having to take matters into their own hands.

The alternative to police is lynch mobs.
Posted by: Cato, Collectivism Delenda Est at August 10, 2020 11:25 AM (TAXCv)

A more common alternative is the state that exists in many 3rd world Islamic countries and urban centers. Visualize a sizable urban area with no strong government, very weak to nonexistent police. A lot of small subdivided areas, groups of city blocks, is going to have some local gang, or militia, or whatever you want to call it, in control of that small local area. Now they're going to want to minimize crimes in the blocks they control, because that's where they live and you don't want to get your people seeking for someone else to take over, and they'll also have to watch out for and retaliate against neighboring gangs carrying out raids on their territory for fun and profit. "justice" won't involve courts or procedures, whoever is in charge of some small area just shoots anyone who gets crosswise with him. Simple.

Expand this over a country and you have place like Libya today, which has a couple of major groups and 50 or 60 small groups constantly fighting each other for scraps of power.

And that's how once civilized nations sink back into barbarism.

Same here, up in Canada. I suspect all those glowing statistics about job growth are camp guards hired to kick the populace around when they try to walk around without a mask.

Anyway, I can't take the risk. We had a case up here a few weeks ago, a crotchety old guy over 70 in a small country town tried to go into a grocery store without a mask, made a scene when they refused to let him in, the store called the police who tracked him to his home and then shot him. I can't risk being murdered over a mask, especially as the populace would applaud my killing. If it were for the horde, I'd lay down my life, but not for the garbage citizens of Canada.

258 214 Legal systems and policing was instituted so that common crimes didn't spiral into family/house/clan/factional feuds.

Posted by: Tom Servo at August 10, 2020 11:42 AM (Kpl3J)

Correct. This is the end game of CW2. Most of the country goes on with business as usual and is never affected by CW2, but the inner cities wind up controlled by gangs that patrol their turf against other gangs (and in some cases against people of the wrong ethnicity). The cities continue to provide services like water, power, sewage, etc., but the police reach an accommodation with the gangs where the effective first line of security is the local gang. There are occasional flareups where one gang encroaches onto another's turf. At the extreme, think Beirut, Mogadishu, Sarajevo.

Crude and vulgar in order to stand out from pablum like The Cosby Show, which was the standard for sitcoms in 1987. In fact, I think one advertising spot actually said, "They're not The Cosbys!"

My problem with South Park is that they talk so fast that I can't understand what they are saying a lot of the time. Closed captioning is too slow as well.

325 The state of WA very proudly showed off its very large warehouse of
canned and nonperishable food which is, "A strategic reserve for people
needing food assistance".

Gee idiots, if you hadn't shut the state down and taken a couple of
million people off the payrolls and moved them to the welfare rolls
maybe you wouldn't be needing to stockpile food which, keeps it from the
grocery store shelves.

Making people unemployed means they depend on the government. If they depend on the government, they vote for the party that gives them the most.

Conclusion? They must not have figured out how to rig voting quite yet.

330 Unfortunately, the best poll of 2016 doesn't seem to be polling this year.

The USC poll in 2016 was dynamite using its large fixed sample size.
It was great for tracking the general mood and seeing the trend lines
as Trump began to build support.

This year, there are at least 6 colleges in the polling business, and they are all getting the same "Biden 50/Trump 40" results.

They are trash, and they are skewing the RCP average.

Just like they are intended to.

That's a recipe for disaster for Democrats.

If that 8% stay home instead of voting, then Trump gains a larger slice of a smaller pie of black support, which is pretty much a perfect storm against Democrats.

probably that's why. also they're saying they'll play in the spring but that isn't going to happen! the football guys can't play two seasons that close together (spring then next fall).

anyway this is so awful. I suspect the evil Dem governors put pressure on the college presidents of Penn State and Rutgers, places like that. Anything to hurt people. They don't care. Just scorched earth from people like Wolf.

so in the future - DI sports are going to get hit, hard. especially the non-revenue ones. should be interesting. a lot will go down to DIII or just go away altogether.

my eldest is trying to get recruited right now it's god awful. but at least has three coaches (dIII) that want to "sign" (it's not really a commit for DIII). still has DI interest but it's taking forever, kind of tired of making good schools wait just b/c they are DIII at this point!

just such a shame.

Clearly they don't have the manpower lined up yet, or they wouldn't need to advertise for it. Second, they've just stated that it's going to be a planned political op, not some "organic" movement, and there goes their propaganda moment out the window.

I'm basically repeating the Morning Rant (TM), but back since we talked about the Burning Times I pointed out that laws were there to protect the weak in society, not the strong. I am going to do fine no matter what happens. Millions and millions of people like me who are armed and know how to use weapons will be just fine. The people who aren't going to do fine are those who cannot protect themselves from the predators, and the predators if they screw with us. So long as there is a rule of law, we are OK with letting the laws protect us and our loved ones. But if the law goes away, we will resort to self-help, and it's not going to work out the way the lawbreakers think it will.

That's easy for us to say. But I bet all college-town small businesses -- restaurants, hotels, etc -- are freaking out about all that counted on annual revenue not happening this year.

Huge negative trickle-down effect that is going to happen with no in-person college and no college sports this season.

That is on top of all the revenue they have lost so far simply due to the shutdowns and the ridiculous COVID-19 restrictions in place (masks, social distancing, no inside dining, etc) the last few months.

If we thought small businesses closing and ruined this summer was bad, there's going to be another rash of them again this fall without their counted-on revenue from college sports season.

I feel great sympathy for your son, for all young people with talent who are having their dreams and plans crushed by this.

In the bigger picture for those who want to see "higher education" completely restructured; this move by them is going to be absolutely devastating to their finances. Not just the loss of revenue, but the drop off in student enrollment by those who figure "better off to live at home and study online." People forget that the Athletic programs are one of the big things that draws people in; they shut that down, they cut their own throats.

I believe they *THINK* that Biden is going to win, and he's going to sign massive bailouts for the States, and either the Feds or the States will hand them massive amounts of money to make up for the catastrophic losses they're feeling now, and which will continue. That's their Plan "A". And they don't have any Plan "B".

And everything else at the school that can be called a sport lives on football money.
The Debate Team, too.

And thus we see why colleges are a plantation society, with college football athletes as its slaves.

Posted by: artemis at August 10, 2020 11:53 AM (AwPyG)
+++++++++
The fastest way to lose respect for "the system" is to interact with it. For me, it happened when I was 18. I had a couple of run-ins with cops due to traffic law (a speeding ticket that was legitimate, and a bunch of other crap that wasn't courtesy of my bored small-town cops). Then I had a car get stolen and then crashed almost immediately. They came out, pulled their puds for a while, filed a report, and told me there was nothing they could do.

That's been my experience. When it involves raising revenue or getting in the way, they're all over it. When it comes to investigating a crime, they don't do much. I lost any respect I may have had the day they refused to even bother investigating my car theft.

466 I have a friend who is a Portland Police Officer (retiring the end of this month). Several years ago he was on the front lines of some sort of riot. In a quiet moment, he was face to face with a scrawny young man with an anarchist symbol on his shirt.

My friend said, 'So you are an anarchist?'

The young thug said "Yeah, f... you and all your f...ing laws!"

My friend said in a calm, restrained voice: "At this moment the law is the only thing that keeps me from enjoying killing you with my bare hands."

The young man backed away from the massive officer with his mouth agape and was not seen again that day.

475 Many people seem to be contentedly contemplating life with masks as a PERMANENT condition, and there's little evidence coming from our rulers to discourage this.

So I was daydreaming about what our entertainment will look like in that Brave New World. When they finally start making movies again, will all street scenes feature carefully spaced extras wearing masks? Will all office comedies have people wearing masks in their cubicles? Acting with their eyebrows, since the lower half of their face is hidden?

If not, won't people become annoyed at seeing life depicted onscreen that's so much freer and happier than real life? Won't the dissonance finally become too much? Myself, I watch old movies, and I'm already noticing things that used to be staples of the movies: restaurant scenes, people dancing in nightclubs, crowded train platforms, parties - which don't exist in real life and may not ever again. Will these films eventually suppressed, so people won't be irritated by reminders of lost liberty and happiness?

Fortunately, there is enough recorded entertainment already to keep anybody entertained for the rest of their lives. Who has seen ALL the good movies? Who has heard ALL the good music? Who has read ALL the good books? Plenty of fine old stuff left to consume. F*ck the new stuff, and f*ck sportsball.

These bastards are everywhere and they're well-armed and trained. Makes me wonder who's training them and who's paying for all their sophisticated materiel?

It will take a lot more than fists to put them down--especially when we have a public that is entirely sympathetic to their goals and that keeps electing prosecutors that not only won't prosecute criminals, but instead citizens who have the temerity to defend themselves.
