For the life of me, I can't figure out why they cleared the field for Biden. The gay mayor would have a chance of winning the election, but they knew Biden was in this state.

The five (literally five) previous Establishment choices had all faded into obscurity, including Buttigieg who had won Iowa just a few weeks before (winning Iowa really doesn't mean that much).
It was either get Biden over by forcing everyone else to drop or keep the race going and risk handing the party to Sanders.
They weren't going to let that second option happen.

There will be definite problems with the base, but the bigger problem will be with the independents of the electorate.
The dominant culture will have been telling them for a year to vote for Biden, and Biden's suddenly gone. Confusion and exhaustion will reign, and those more inclined to vote Democrat will stay away at greater numbers than the independents who've been leaning Trump that whole time.

Hypothetical here, but what happens if Biden is the nominee but drops out (for any reason) after early voting has begun? In the presidential election you don't vote for the person, you vote for electors who are bound to then vote for that person. The D's replace him on the election day ballots, but you've got a bunch of votes on early ballots that have to be given to electors that have to vote for someone not running anymore. This is going to be tied up in court battles until 2024.

Some of the medical folks here can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think age related, when it gets bad, tends to be more sudden when it gets beyond just typical forgetfulness, whereas Alzheimers tends to have a more gradual decline... until it gets total.

Some of you may recall my mention of my wifes cousin, who was still in good shape overall as of last Christmas. She's a bit older than us, at 71, but she's always been energetic and independent, she used to work as a geologist for Exxon, quite intelligent. We've always considered her a good friend. Her children sent the family a letter with a fuller explanation of what's happened, and I relate some details just because it reminds me so much of what's been happening to Biden this year. (although Joe deserves it, she didn't)
The Covid shutdown and isolation may have accelerated things, no one knows - but just after July 4th, her two children (both grown with their own families) started noticing some really extreme paranoia, along with a stated inability to ever leave her house anymore. They've taken turns staying with her, and found that she can no longer recall the day of the week, or the current date, or what year this is. Also, she's suddenly unable to maintain a train of thought well enough to finish anything but short sentences. It's quite sad, and all this has manifested in a little over 6 months. Her children are trying to figure out how to care for her now, since physically she's still in good health.
It looks like Joe has been on the same glidepath down.

Another reason for the delays and dithering is that the choice seems to e between Kamala and the un-Kamala. Kamala is ambitious and would be running for 2024 the day she was sworn in. This might not jibe with the DNC's goals. Enough of the socialist wing of the Democrat party wouldn't support Kamala to defeat Trump.

Sure, people will soon see Philly, Minneapolis, etc with 2, 3, or more votes cast then adults but the goal is just to get the FNM to declare Biden the victor.

I've also seen with dementia that older relatives starting to suffer with it will begin to curse and use words they never did before in their lives - nice old church going men and women. Probably making up for memory loss with anger and loss of inhibitions.

I've also seen with dementia that older relatives starting to suffer with it will begin to curse and use words they never did before in their lives - nice old church going men and women. Probably making up for memory loss with anger and loss of inhibitions.

That's spot on. It's almost like turret's. They do lose inhibitions, and say things they never would have before. I've seen my mother spout out one curse word after another. They're toddlers with a lifetime of experience and the same emotional/social maturity.
As I said a few months back, Joe will get to the point (he's about there) where he won't be able to articulate anything. He'll get frustrated. In a debate setting, he'll get so disturbed he's going to strike out in retaliation. I've seen it, and Joe already has a predisposition for this kind of behavior.

Somehow Biden convinced the media and the Dem party at leaders that he is the best chance to beat Trump and he needed an easy primary in order to save resources and not have extensive negatives brought up and other campaign damage done.
So everyone else was forced out to save Biden's money and pristine image.
A pristine doddering old man whom for all of his horrible politics, shameless lies and pandering, scares me far more for his inability to keep a coherent train of thought.
Biden is a bottom feeding politician whose only instinct is naked populism and he takes whatever views he is told or somehow believes are a benefit to his political career. What happens when radical elements of the Dem party whom are amazingly good at appearing to represent popular left wing opinion than they actually are, convince him that the best decision for Biden personally, is to forcefully implement socialism?

Oh, and I've had to hide all the meds and OTC pills and stuff after several episodes over the past year or so. When he gets up at night (he does that, and will wander around the house) and sees any pills, he will take them without regard for what they are.

It's really hard with the later stage dementia, and it can be frustrating as hell. They forget what you're saying while you're saying it. Everything is some surreal circular conversation with several different people taking turns.
Another thing I've noticed is in the early to mid stages especially they get super angry. I've seen this a few times, and apparently it's normal. This typically manifests itself with them destroying things, throwing them away, etc.
Again, that's what makes it so obvious that Joe has dementia. We've seen these anger outbursts on such trivial things, but that's exactly how it works. I'd like to say I feel sorry for the evil bastard, but I don't. Not even a bit. What makes me sorry is he'll never know he's gone insane.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Demofascists start focusing national campaign dollars on Senate races. Even if they are losing the presidency, they will want to contain PDJT in his next term. Susan Collins is going to see big dollars coming to her opponent. So will Hickenlooper get money, and so will any candidate they think has a decent shot.

Election is thrown into the House because of chaos, states unable to certify their electoral votes, etc., and Trump is re-elected President, 26 State Delegations to 24 State Delegations.
California, with its 60 million votes, gets ONE (1) vote as a State Delegation.
Montana, with its 1 million votes, gets ONE (1) vote as a State Delegation.
Vote fraud isn't going to work as well as the DemonRats think it will.

I've said this since forever, the 2nd Amendment is a sleeper issue that everyone sort of ignores but is incredibly potent.
I absolutely believe it was key to Trumps 2016 victory, Obama had largely sidestepped guns until his 2nd term, then went after them with a vengeance and Hillary paid the price.

I think blacks genuinely like Biden. He's Barack's guy, for one. But more than that, most black voters (especially those over 40) aren't radicals. They're loyal Democrats for sure, but what they want is a known quantity, who's going to deliver all the stuff that Democrats always deliver to the blacks. They don't want someone rocking the boat. And for them, Biden is the harmlessly racist white guy. Not ideal, but also not really going to give you any trouble.

All states must certify their electors by January 6, 2021. If they've not done so by then, their electors don't count.
If nobody has 270 electoral votes on that date, then the House votes by state delegation.
Currently the Republicans have the majority of representatives in 26 states, and the DemonRats have 24. That should hold steady in this election, though the Dems are clearly trying to change NV with their mail in vote fraud scheme to make it a 25/25 tie. If it ends in a tie, then they keep voting that day until someone gets 26.
We will know who the president is by the end of the day on January 6, 2021.
