Furewirks vendors around here were cleaned out by the 4th. Chatted with one Saturday morning when my granddaughter and I went looking for sparklers and such. He said he sold more on Friday than the entire year last year. His comment was that people in general seemed eager to display their patriotism and that a significant amount of them verbally expressed anger at the crap that was going on. We are at war folks. I suspect this will be a summer of discontent.

I mentioned this yesterday. In Dana Point, CA yesterday numerous boats, dinghies and pickup trucks were flying TRUMP 2020 flags alongside their American flags. Saw several people in MAGA hats too. Orange County is usually a mix of Left and right so people tend to be discreet about political leanings. I've never seen such in-your face support for Trump.
Overheard conversations were very pissed off about masks, closed beaches, BLM protests and the defacing of our history.
I really think that the sleeping giant has just been kicked in the nuts by the Left and we'll see some major blowback this November.

I talked with someone while walking my dog who knew someone in NYC who died of it. The woman I was talking with had to shutter her small business because of DeWine's draconian measures but still thinks he's handled it well but agreed with me that everything is guesswork on how effective social distancing and masks are.
It was refreshing to be able to disagree and not listen to REEEEEEEE and what a terrible person I am.

I also know three people very well (two nurses, and another person who attended the same dinner as above) who had it and have since recovered. One had very little in the way of symptoms, and the other two said it was like he worst chest cold/bronchitis they ever had. None of them were hospitalized.

He was pretty sick. had a 102F fever and bad cough. Said his OX finger meter showed down to 95. He was thinking about going into the ER if ox got to 90 or fever went to 103.5F. Got tested and it was positive but took 4 days to get results back. A teledoc gave him two big steroid pills and was feeling much better the next day. He thinks he is done with the worst. total time about 6 days.
Other than that not a single person I know or that anybody I know know got the CCP covid19 in4 months.

I think the latest panic is partly for show but I also think they are panicked about the disease petering out (and deaths going to near zero) with people out and about so they cannot claim the lockdowns are keeping people from dying. The one I found fascinating is that for every two COVID deaths there is one "other" death from people being terrified to go to the hospital. Folks having heart attacks, strokes, etc. and they won't go because they literally might catch a cold.
IIRC the numbers for emergency room visits have dropped more than 50% over the last couple of months.

It's easy to spend every waking hour exploring new studies and observations on C19. Even ignoring the fact that almost all of them point towards a far less damaging bug than feared, in a way it's misdirected effort.
Far more important is that basic, unquestioned epidemiological observations/doctrine are being completely ignored, and that the public health measures being taken are simply irrelevant to the situation.
The vulnerable should shelter or be protected. Everyone else should go about their life exactly as before. Because nothing being done makes any difference in the final score, which is all that matters.

This is my second unit. The first wore out after a number of years. This one does seem to be a little lighter than the original, but it's been sprinkling away for a few seasons now. I think I paid around $15 for it.
