On His Way Out the Door, Ric Grenell Blasts Mark Warner (Richard Burr's Boss) for Trying to Protect Obama Officials From Scrutiny While Also Attempting to Declassify Any Bullshit That Feeds His Narrative

Mark Warner, the Senior Senator from Richard Burr, demanded to know why Richard Grenell was publishing the names of Obama officials who had unmasked Michael Flynn.

His response is great. His basic answers are, 1., Classification is for the protection of sources and methods, not to spare political hacks sunlight, and 2., Go fuck yourself.

Here's 1.:

"My declassification determination was made in the interests of full transparency and public accountability given serious unanswered questions about the potential misuse of intelligence for partisan purposes following the 2016 election," Grenell wrote. "The protection of intelligence sources is always at the fore of any declassification decision I might make. As you well know, the decision to declassify the names of individuals who sought to unmask the identity of General Flynn poses absolutely no risk of compromise of either sources or methods. Additionally, far from undermining the credibility of the Intelligence Community (IC), the utmost transparency in this matter builds public trust and confidence in the Community and ensures the IC will not conceal potential abuse behind unnecessary security classification."

And here's 2.:

"I find it puzzling that your letter initially complains about the declassification of the indemnities of unmaskers, a declassification that posed no conceivable riches to sources or methods, only to then request the declassification of actual intelligence reports. Cherry picking certain documents for release, while attacking the release of others that don't fit your political narrative, is part of the problem the American people have with Washington DC politicians. I would appreciate it if you would explain your philosophy on transparency as it appears to be based solely on political advantage," he continued.

Mark Warner's spokesbitch, Richard Burr, was unavailable for comment.

Update: Grenell has also declassified a document that he says is "very significant" to the understanding of how "intelligence was manipulated" to start the Russiagate Coup.

Fox News has learned that Grenell also completed the declassification review of other documents related to the origins of the Russia probe-- including one that a senior intelligence official told Fox News was "very significant in understanding how intelligence was manipulated to support launching the Russia investigation."

Grenell has declassified the documents, but will leave it to his successor as DNI, John Ratcliffe, to make the decision whether to release them.

Ratcliff has shown himself to be a ally of Trump's in Congress along with Nunes, Jordan, and Meadows. Please show us you are worthy of our confidence in your new position, Ratcliff, and release what Grenell has just declassified. . .

Maybe. Or maybe they just realized continuing to play games wasn't going to work in this case.

I don't know why anyone who has watched Ratcliffe in the House would think he is going to not do the job. He's a bright, tough former prosecutor who has seen everything Nunes has seen.

And as I've said before, Grenell might be leaving, Kash Patel is not.

116 You know else tried to interfere in our elections? Uh huh, Him.

Literally.

In 1944, Ribbentrop led an effort to (somehow) unseat FDR in his bid for a 4th term. The effort was centered out of the German embassy in Buenos Aires. Included dissemination of "black propaganda" (false slanderous reports) in the press of neutral countries, to seed coverage in the US. Von Papen, German ambassador to Turkey, told his Japanese counterpart that preventing FDR's re-election was a German priority.

Ridiculous? Yes, of course. Embassy in Argentina was to assess situation inside US via travelers, and if that didn't provide enough good info, Berlin said they could insert their own agents directly. Uh, OK.

Anyway. Just a little perspective on the (always, obviously) ridiculous "election interference" nonsense, which recall most of the GOP pretended to worry about as well.

All courtesy of Magic, the Japanese diplomatic code we'd been reading since before Pearl Harbor.

Begrudgingly, she does make a good point about Sessions having tremendous courage in backing Trump early on, when literally all of establishment Washington was dead-set against him, and perhaps PDJT should let bygones be bygones. After all it was Trump who appointed that weasel Rosenstein, the shitheel directly responsible for appointing Mueller and his Angry Democrats. All Sessions did was hide under his desk, which (though bad) at least wasn't two-faced and evil. She also makes a good argument for not believing Tuberville will be loyal to PDJT (based on his personal history).

188 Jen every bit of that idiotic "plan" for MI has no basis in any science or public health knowledge, at all.

But that's also true of much of the CDC advice since at least late April.

There's an asymmetric bell curve you can find that describes almost all epidemics ever documented - including this one (the fit is exact). There's probably nothing one can do to change it, there's no evidence it was changed, anywhere (OK, if you shield the sick elderly, you'll lower the fatality rate, but that's about it).

The incompetence or dishonesty of the public health authorities at the federal and many state and local levels is breath-taking, even in 2020. As is the ignorance of the populace, to meekly go along with nonsensical guidance. I don't sense any accounting or even serious review, however, at any level, is in our future. Pretty bad.

Ratcliff has shown himself to be a ally of Trump's in Congress along with Nunes, Jordan, and Meadows. Please show us you are worthy of our confidence in your new position, Ratcliff, and release what Grenell has just declassified. . .

Even if I gave Sessions the benefit of the doubt with his reasons for recusing himself, I think he ended up being a big zero on everything else that was on his plate as AG. If he made any movement toward cleaning the Augean stables that are the AG department, I would say that he should get Trump's endorsement, but seeing that he didn't do much other than make some speeches after recusal - no way.

I'd take my chances with Tuberville. Sessions showed what he was made of when he got the job he said he always wanted.

Not one fact that has come out since he recused himself has justified that decision.

The real reason?

He couldn't stand the heat, he chose to save himself rather than Trump

Remember: He didn't warn Trump of what he was going to do and, as more and more facts came out showing the basis of his recusal was BS, he put Trump in the no-win situation of offering to resign-- instead of taking the heat himself and reversing his recusal.

He's lying if he says he didn't know of the house testimony that no one saw any proof of collusion, that there was no proof of Russia hacking.
He's lying because that lie is all he has left to hide behind.

It's either self-hating fag or not actually gay. I mean, it's all so wildly boring.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, be they on the Right, the Left, or in the Center, who believes that sexuality comes with a non-optional set of political beliefs needs to have better sex. And I feel sorry for all of those people's sexual partners, even if the only person they are having sex with is themselves.

278 The incompetence or dishonesty of the public health authorities at the federal and many state and local levels is breath-taking, even in 2020. As is the ignorance of the populace, to meekly go along with nonsensical guidance. I don't sense any accounting or even serious review, however, at any level, is in our future. Pretty bad.
Posted by: rhomboid at May 26, 2020 05:28 PM (El6T/)

Agree about the incompetency. As far as going along, I think it came more for not knowing anything more than the experts did. What is different about the general population though is that once it became apparent that this virus is not the deadly 50% mortality virus was made out to be, the public doesn't have their self worth invested in that like the public health people do.

DHS isn't really as bad as many other places, if you're talking about overall commitment to the mission, at least WRT the important area - immigration. Current acting has done a good job of imitating the right mindset - who knows, he might have even learned something and changed - but nah, no reason to take chances. YouTube got stone cold busted instantly deleting any comment that had a two Chinese character comment that was critical of China.

As in people were testing it and they would post the comment, it would show up, reload and BAM gone.

YouTube claimed this was an "error".

Oh and Michael Moore had a film up on YouTube that, to his tiny as his peen credit, goes after the professional environmental movement as being full of con artists and grifters who do nothing for the environment. Said people went crazy and got it taken down.

******************************

I will not vote for Haley.
She would be a GOPe disaster, doing to Trump's reforms what GHWB did to Reagan's.

420 Radcliff needs to take a leave of absence every 2-3 weeks just so Rick can pop in on an interim basis and just shit all over Adam Schiff's desk. I hope he gets the chance to be UN ambassador, it'd be spectacular.

421 The rush to approve Ratcliffe is curious. At first, he was proposed as nominee, but faced enormous criticism. The criticism ostensibly focused on his supposed lack of experience in intelligence matters. The criticism's real purpose was derailing a member of the House posse, led by Nunes, for his role in exposing the Russia Collusion fraud and then its weak sister, the Ukrainian Quid Pro Quo fraud. His nomination was withdrawn. But he was proposed again when Maguire's term as acting chief expired. The thinking is Grenell is a wild man, let's put Ratcliffe in ASAP. But I don't expect Ratcliffe to be any less vigorous in cleaning out the Intelligence Community of miscreants and exposing their misconduct. Will he be more judicious in wording his missives to Senator Warner? Perhaps, but everyone is learning the Trump approach these days: McEnany, Grenell, Barr, Pompeo. Ratcliffe is more than capable of holding his own in this crowd.
