Tucker Carlson Grills Deep State Simp Trey Gowdy for Either Being Too Cowardly to Push Back Against the Coup, Or Being a Covert Active Participant

"My mistake was relying on the word of the FBI," he says.

Mistake, singular.

Given that the FBI is now proven to have acted corruptly and lawlessly throughout this -- well, that's sort of a big mistake, isn't it, Deep State Simp?

Gowdy insists that his previous spin on behalf of the Deep State -- in which he contradicted Trump's claim (proven true) that the entire coup attempt was a "witch hunt" -- was right at the time and is still right.

He bases this claim on the dubious claim that when Gowdy denied that the Mueller probe was a "witch hunt," he only meant that it was not a witch hunt with respect to Russian interference.

Obviously the thing that Democrats -- and their Republican silent partners -- were actually probing, and which they actually cared about, was that Trump was an agent of Putin. And obviously, when Gowdy said that the probe was not a "witch hunt," he was taken to mean -- and did in fact mean -- that Trump might in fact be an agent of Putin.

But now he claims, oh no, I just meant that Russia Is Bad Or Whatever.

And then Carlson presses him on what evidence exists that Russia hacked the DNC servers -- and Gowdy sheepishly admits none, because the FBI -- whom he has previously vouched for -- refused to even ask to see the allegedly hacked servers.

I'm getting very fucking tired of watching people with no integrity or honor themselves vouching for the integrity and honor of fucking government operatives.

Video below.

Mollie Hemingway linked this old article of hers, from 2018: Trey Gowdy Didn’t Even See Documents He Claims Exonerate FBI On Spygate: Reports.

Gowdy's curious exoneration of the FBI caught many by surprise given his work on the previous HPSCI report that found widespread abuse of surveillance procedures targeting the Trump campaign.

"I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got," Gowdy said in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Martha MacCallum on Tuesday night.

The next morning on CBS News, co-host John Dickerson asked Gowdy, "So you looked at this and you said what the FBI was doing was kosher, why does the president keep saying what he’s saying when he knows better?"

"I don't know," Gowdy responded.

During the interview, however, Gowdy seemed confused or mistaken about simple facts related to the investigation.

But now he's Born Again Hard as a warrior, huh? And a huge defender of Devin Nunes, huh?

Note that Nunes immediately objected that the FBI, which of course was hiding documents, was refusing to satisfy a Congressional subpeona, substituting instead a mere briefing (and a dishonest one designed to hide the truth).

And what did Gowdy do?

He immediately went out and peddled the FBI line. Despite the FBI refusing to show him subpeonaed documents.

Another fraud working for the Deep State and the corporate interests instead of his actual voters -- so of course Paul Ryan, Chris Wallace, and the Murdoch Boys figured he had earned a FoxNews contributor contract.

It's just fucking amazing that these people all talk like world beaters on FoxNews and then meekly roll over for -- or actively assist -- the Democrats when performing their actual jobs as elected representatives and senators.

When the fuck are GOP voters going to get hip to this con? Are they as stupid as the leftwing media says?

Update: Matt Gaetz, a former colleague of Gowdy's, recently called him out. I added that video.

Thanks to rhomboid for mentioning Schlichter's joke in the comments.

Update: Why did Trey Gowdy refuse to subpoena key coupists?

The number one question I get asked from Americans is, why no one has gone to jail and been held accountable? Unfortunately, when Nunes and Meadows and Jordan and I wanted subpoena power, it was Paul Ryan and Trey Gowdy that wouldn't give us that subpoena power.

Democrats sent out hundreds of subpoenas. When we had control and could have run this to ground in 2017 --

HANNITY: We made a mistake?

GAETZ: -- we didn't send out a single subpoena, not one, and that's a failure of our Republican leadership.

HANNITY: Should have sent them out.

More Failure Theater by the Failure Theater Players.

Thanks to chique d'Epstein for the reminder.

Gaetz spoke again about this on Seb Gorka yesterday. Skip to 3:00. He really cooks Gowdy and Paul Ryan as de facto Democrats and Deep State operators.

Gaetz on Gowdy: "He's got all the answers now, now that he's a Fox News contributor."

In fact, it would be very interesting to follow the trail of drafts on that document over in the Special Counsel's organization and see who added what. Rosenstein signing scope memos that were written for him by the Special Counsel is not inconsistent with his being a white hat, continuing to give them more rope to hang themselves.

Just wait until the scope memo authorizing the obstruction of justice investigation for trying to defend against the Special Counsel is declassified.

Once she's on the hook, he's got her. Next thing you know she's banging him and his cellies in the latrine, and smuggling in drugs for them.

Graham's sexual preference probably is just one of several vices that make him vulnerable to blackmail. He gets a lot of UAE-funded trips and his best friends tend to be defense contractors. Although, to contradict myself a bit, given almost all of the political and corporate class takes outright bribes from China that might not be a good route to take to blackmail Graham.

224 Gowdy was a Federal Prosecutor. The FBI and the Cops were his bread and butter. The only means he had of getting ahead.

They could've sabotaged him in so many ways. Plus they probably know exactly when and what cases Gowdy made mistakes on or went along with the bad charges. I don't know what the statute of limitations might be on that but it would surely disgrace him publicly.

So of course he's not going to say anything that he doesn't have to that shows them in a bad light.

We all knew this a few years ago thanks to CTH Sundance.

Gowdy's a blow hard. No surprise he winds up on the liberal leaning Fox News now.

Ok. I'm sick of this. Why don't you just tell us, Trey! Apparently, leaking classified information is no longer a federal crime. Comey did it. Clapper did it. Brennan did it. Schiff lied his ass off for three years. Just call up Tucker and be a "high-level source knowledgable about the full text of the Susan Rice email."

But, no. The only people in Washington who leak classified information are Democrats and Deep State operatives, and they do it with impunity. Tucker needed to stop the interview right there and press him on that.

Yeah, I get that its fun to pile on and yell for five minutes at the latest picture of Emmanuel Goldstein and everyone likes to be part of the beat down.

But if someone can be useful, can be flipped, and can be in some way helpful to beat the enemy we face... lets do it, rather than destroy everyone, everywhere for not measuring up to some mythical standard of perfection.

Take Dan Crenshaw. The guy can be annoying on some issues and has said dumb stuff before. Tucker Carlson was an ass when it came to Wuhan Virus, up front waving the shutdown pom poms. President Trump praised Obamacare and swore to protect it while campaigning. There are no perfect heroes or perfect tools.

You do the best you can with what you have to get the best results. Gowdy was an ass and should be smacked for it... but he's also very good at what he does, is mostly on the right side of things, and I think can still be useful if Trump can use him properly.

Generally/philosophically, it is the installation of an unaccountable and all-powerful structure with a place for them in it.

Specifically, I suspect it is "survive." They took a run at the king and it might bring down the house. I doubt that it will, but it could. Everyone living in that house has a survival instinct. It isn't about upholding the constitution or the honor of republican government. It is about upholding *this* system as it exists today right now because they are inside it.

Conservatism is all too often a sea anchor - it holds relative position. It isn't a port anchor that holds you in an absolute place. The leftists want to survive so they can keep moving the ball toward totalitarians. The conservatives in power want to maintain the system as it is at this moment. Discrediting and burning down major institutions won't maintain the system as it is at this moment.

I'd rather believe he doesn't stick his neck out too far, lest he be outed. Not because he's been blackmailed, but because... yeah, as you suggest, he'd prefer to keep his secret.

So in an ideal world, Graham puts on his big boy pants, let's everyone know he's gay (duh), and then gets down to the business of sticking it to the bad guys. For a change.

It wasn't because he was a straight shooter who was interested in doing the right thing.

I generally agree with you. I think Rosenstein was a white hat, but more out of expediency than principle. But he played his part.

I don't think anyone on our side, including the President, really expected Mueller to run the partisan travesty of an investigation that he ran. I think in the abstract having someone investigate foreign interference in the election in a nonpartisan manner would have come to the same conclusion regarding Trump and Russia, but may very well have caught actual Chinese and Ukrainian interference in the net. That the Mueller team was so blatantly just a fig leaf to expand the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, with no interest in pursuing other countries' interference, but a psychotic willingness to pursue the President to spend moths and millions of dollars trying to find something to pin on him, is a scenario that would have been farfetched in May 2017.

I think what gets lost in a lot of the discussion about Sessions is that 1) he was deeply involved in the campaign 2) he was likely spied on 3) he was also targeted for takedown.

As part of the campaign he was both a fact witness and a potential suspect. It would be both illegal and politically insane for him to have remained the overseer of an investigation of himself. It's hard enough to get people to accept that Trump was not colluding. If Sessions had made the call it would have been impossible. Look how they tried to slime Barr over the Mueller report when Barr was a private citizen with no connection to the campaign.

If he had resigned it meant there would have been no AG for some time because you can bet your ass it would have taken quite some time to get one through the Senate. Remember what those hearings were like? There are still many positions not confirmed from over 3 years ago.

So who would have taken over if Sessions had resigned? In the short term anyway, Rod Rosenstein, Trump's pick for Deputy AG.

The Mueller investigative was an excessive partisan witch hunt. However, in general the problem was that the President had to prove a negative. He had to have someone not under his influence run down every ridiculous lead and find nothing. That was unavoidable.

What was avoidable was the Weissman tactic of trying to nail anyone he could get to pressure them to manufacture evidence. All of the prosecutions either had nothing to do with Russia or were process crimes. There was only one reason they were pursued, and that was to get the defendants to tell a story to save themselves.

There are a whole lot of people who don't watch CNN and also don't reflexively support Trump. The largest number of voters in the country is not Republicans or Democrats, it's Independent or unaffiliated. Hell, a number of Republicans were not sold on Trump either during the election or in the Spring of '17. Let's not pretend Trump had universal support with the Russia thing being pounded 7x24.

Did you happen to notice that not a single thing from the Russia hoax was included in the impeachment articles? Not one word.

If they're treating this as their last-gasp attempt at "fundamental transformation" - and they seem to be - then veto it more directly and with less drama than usual. If they're really trying for shit like state bailouts, student loan forgiveness, free phone calls for prisoners, etc., then this is "last act of a desperate man" territory because they don't think they're going to get another bite at the apple.

Shut it down and then burn them down over it. Don't try to negotiate. Don't try to "fix it" and send it back. Just refuse to consider it and fire up the PR machinery to blast them past the stratosphere.

Remember at the time all the press was "straight shooter" Robert Mueller. After all, he had been the FBI Director for 10 years or something like that. There was no indication that he was a rabid partisan Democrat. Where things got off the rails was when he hired 14 Democrats, or whatever it was, including the Crossfire Hurricane team. It's clear in hindsight that the investigation started not as, "Let's follow the facts wherever they lead us," but as, "What can we nail Drumpf on?" It's clear that to the coup plotters, the Mueller investigation was just a cover for what they were already doing. I'm not sure most people even knew about the coup in those days - remember the Strzock-Page text messages had not been leaked yet.

367 I'm just going to put this out here, and maybe I subconsciously got it from JackStraw (as to whom I claim original fanboy status), but you have to start with Trump having a known known (to him): he didn't do what he was accused of, not remotely. So to "prove" he did, evidence would have to be made up, evidence beyond the "doufussier". Next, Trump wanted to DTS and root out the corruption in D.C., particularly in the DOJ/FBI. To Trump, this was a known unknown -- he didn't know how far the corruption went. So the logical thing is to pull back the aggression and let the enemy exhaust themselves trying to overwhelm him. (Some of us morons who talk WWII may recognize the strategy.) I could go on, but I'll get willowed. PDT may not have game-planned everything, but he certainly grasped the big picture before anyone else did and he knew how to go about hunting the hunters.

>>Maybe it was. That is above my ken.*

The KGB used to ask prospects to get them a map of DC, or the DC phone book, something totally legal. When they complied, the KGB would pay the prospect generously.

But now they'd established the principle of trading information for money, so the camel had his nose in the tent.

He doesn't have to fund raise and run for Congress every two years. He is easily making more money bloviating for Fox.

These people either work hard and actually produce something in Congress or they spend the majority of their time fund raising, socializing, kissing up to other members in the House hoping to get plum committee assignments so they can get on television and news media which helps fund raising.

Gowdy's schtick was that he was a former prosecutor and was a successful one at that. Then he got into congress and managed to get nothing done despite spending millions on the Benghazi committee, left Congress, joined a law firm and Fox news, left the law firm to work on Trump's campaign, left that because of "anti lobbying laws" . Now he just blabs expertly on Fox.

463 I always wondered what it would be like to live under an Anti-Pope.

Of course these days it's not as scary because the Church is so much less powerful and believers few and far between. Especially any in political power.

Still it is weird to have a whiny commie as Pope. Saying all the stupid stuff he says and leading exactly NO ONE to Jesus.

If anything he's driving people away from G-d.

And It's certainly made me even MORE suspicious of the Church. They performed a coup d'etat right before our eyes and no one objected or tried to stop it.
Posted by: jakee308 at May 12, 2020 03:26 PM (MF8yO)

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Catholic splinter groups like those St. Pius guys doesn't coronate its own Pope and start proclaiming itself the true Church.

Having an out and out heretic (Liberation Theology - the attempt to view Christianity through a Marxian lens - is a recognized heresy) as Pope nullifies the central Church's spiritual authority.

Reason being that only the DoJ can approve the unmasking of American citizens. The other agencies may want to unmask someone in gathered intelligence, but they must have the approval/permission the DoJ.

The reason is that it is illegal as hell to spy on American citizens without a warrant with only certain exceptions granted for individuals plotting attacks on the United States.

Fox doesn't pay very much for those spots...What has changed is that in order to do one of those "movie script" blackmail schemes you no longer have to do the leg work. Instead, you have just about everything you need right in front of you (your computer). Or you have a team of Pakastanis downloading the House email records to an outside server. Or you have the Chinese/Korean/Iranian cyber teams dipping into confidential OMB records. Or, you have some script kiddie digging into Banking records. Or you have Fusion GPS digging into the NSA Mega-data inclusive of Echelon collected phone conversations over the last decade. Or you have a bogus FISA case leading to surveillance both electronically and humint.

Do you really think Judge Roberts all of sudden did a 180 on Obamacare without incentive? How do you explain Ryan turning down subpoenas for obvious corruption?
