TGIS!!

Good morning Morons. Opine away or bloviate. Whatever trips your trigger. Just remember no running with sharp objects, don't pull the 'ettes hair and be nice to one another.

Have a great weekend!

13 Since I am become willow, killer of threads, I am pulling this up:

333 Anyone read the original book bu Anonymous, the fictional account of the Clinton campaign? True Colors?

Washington and Washington media LOVED that book, because they knew it was written by a reporter, and it was about their "charming rogue."

So anyway, key plot point (SPOILERS) the main rival of our hero is taken out by oppo that he had a love child - the classic drop out or we release the dirt thing. The rival drops out and clears the path.

I guess these were the "True Colors" of the hero, that they were really dirty. But again, the press adored the book.

Fast forward to yesterday's headline that Hillary is "waiting for the call" in this Tara Reade mess.

The Clintons broke EVERYTHING.

Memba when Joe Biden was pushing that the BoP was holding a political prisoner because he had sold dope to Dan Quayle? (That prisoner is internet/AoS famous and we may not type his name.)

Yeah. Memba when Bill Clinton famously smoked but didn't inhale? Everybody knew that was a lie, but, hey, charming rogue. The drug use prohibition had fallen.

Then there was TFG. He wrote in one of his biographies (well, someone wrote it) about his massive marijuana use in HS, and cocaine and crack usage in college.

I mean, people did not blink an eye. You tell people that Obama was a crackhead and they say that's a lie.

They say the same thing when you say it about Hunter Biden, too.

63 There was an article the other day about an Israeli guy who got a contract from New York for about 1400 ventilators. The state of NY sent this guy 1/2 down, $61 million, without any due diligence.

Of course, he couldn't deliver.

New York wants it's money back, but this is a civil litigation situation. Contract law.

The Israeli will probably negotiate a settlement for about $50 million to be returned right now, instead of New York suing and spending 4 or 5 years trying to recover money that will probably all be spent by then.

This is how our government works.

Now his whole family will go to jail, and the rest of us who voted Trump just get interned at FEMA camps, such is the magnanimity of our Democrat Overlords. Bonus, we get the new Bill Gates vaccine and microchip because Dems fucking love science!!

If you're looking for something to stream-

"Uploaded" on Amazon is very good.

The story takes place in the near future when your consciousness can be uploaded to company run "heavens" as you die.

The main character has an "impossible" accident which may have been a murder attempt and may have been uploaded prematurely.

The tone is a slightly dystopian light romantic comedy involving the uploaded guy, his corporate concierge "angel" and his old girlfriend.

You won't laugh out loud very often, but you'll be consistently amused.

Sharply drawn characters, nice plotting, good directing. Good script (SJWnonsense occasionally raises its head, but mostly in a way that you laugh at it - which is surprising.)

The delightful and sophisticated Mrs naturalfake and I started it not knowing what to expect and enjoyed it so much we wound up watching the series all the way through in one shot.

Check it out.

216 In the amusing near-future sci-fi novel, "Super Sad True Love Story," everyone is required by the oppressive government to carry a device called an "apparat."

It's a smartphone, but with some more tech. And as in the great film "Brazil," the tech is lagging in some areas.

Everyone has a credit score. Everyone has a "sex quotient." You aim your apparat's "nozzle" at someone, and you get both in the readout.

Your apparat knows everything about you, your movements, contacts, and dialogs, so when the cops grab you they grab your apparat and download all the goodies.

It's what Whitmer, Newsome, and others want right now.

Roofers will always find hail damage for you. The adjuster will asked you when it occurred . Of course your policy only covers occurrences that fall within you policy period so old hail damage may be a problem . Have an answer if possible. The other thing an adjuster may do is dispute it's hail damage as opposed to general wear and tear. Have your roofer there if possible.

Here's an oddball streaming choice on Netflix -

"Beastars"

The story takes place in a world of anthropomorphized animals at the equivalent of a Japanese prep school.

So, once you get over that conceptual hump and if you can buy into it. The story does a lot with it's characters. One nice thing is that the world-building and characters are consistent. So, it's all been well-thought out and plotted.

The main dividing line is between carnivores and herbivores. Everyone tries to get along, but that requires that the carnivores deny their nature...or does it?

The story begins with a murder at the school of one of the herbivores by a carnivore. No one knows who did it, and because "these things happen" it soon gets ignored. However, that casts a pall over the rest of the story.

The main character is a wolf, who0 tries to be "good" but who is also discovering his carnivorous nature.

At one point, he loses control and tries to eat a girl rabbit. He refrains at the last moment, and runs away.

Later, in the story he finds himself attracted to her. Is it simply his carnivorous desires or love?

To the writer's credit, they don't go the Romeo and Juliet route. Rather, they present this incipient romance in a way that's consistent with their world and the dangers within it.

The story really goes some interesting places as the wolf and his friends start to learn that the world of the school is kind of an oasis from the complications and underlying violence and compromises of adult society.

Of course, the story reflects in its own way of the human condition, but only as part of the story.

Very well-written. Sharply drawn characters. Interesting plotting that deepens the world instead of flattening it out.

I just flipped this one on late at night cuz I was bored and couldn't go to sleep yet.

And within a couple of episodes I was hooked.

If this sounds like it might be your kind of thing, it probably will be.

Check it out.

I wish our current home had a gas stove.

Long ago and far away, when I was a student, I learned the absolute quickest way to make a great fresh filling meal at night before studies was with-

a wok.

Chop up some meat or fish, chop up some veggies, heat up the wok till it was screaming hot, pour in a bit of peanut oil, throw in the meat-fry, fry, fry,- throw in the veggies-stir stir stir- throw in some soy sauce or hot sauce or both, maybe a nice splash of sherry- stir stir stir- or put on the top for a quick steaming-

BAM! Dinner is served. Nice, healthy and tasty in about ten minutes or so.

Electric woks just don't seem to get hot enough.

Next house...a gas stove for sure or perhaps a gas grill with a wok attachment when my wood pellet grill goes belly up.

Marijuana is the plant material derived from the cannabis plant while hashish comes from the compressed resin (commonly incorrectly thought to be manufactured from the pollen) of the flowers of the cannabis plant. Both marijuana and hashish can vary in type, potency, and quality.

-

It's not a wok, but I cook in our big electric skillet a couple of times a week doing similar things. I rarely crank it above the 400 degree mark unless it's right at the start, and then I usually adjust it down to 350 or so to control smoking up the house.

I started using it because it was easier to clean one big pan when cooking for the family, and then I discovered that I liked using it.

My current favorite is cooking sausage, onion, and peppers, and then adding water and uncooked rice. Cover and let the rice cook, and eat twenty minutes later.

322 Weed is just pot, cannabis, and looks like dried cut grass, or a nice bud shaped piece of cut grass, if you buy the good stuff. Hash is a resin, made from cannabis, that looks a bit like dark chocolate sometimes, sometimes lighter color. Hash can be broken into bits and smoked with tobacco or pot (see above). Or, a fun way to smoke it, I have heard, is to place a small bit on the end of a pin that has been stuck through a playing card, so that the hash is suspended in air. Now light the hash on fire, blow it out quickly, and place a short glass over your hash. The smoke from the hash accumulates in the glass, and when you feel ready, you lift the edge of the glass, and suck of the smoke inside.

Posted by: Captain Obvious, USS Lone Fire at May 02, 2020 10:49 AM

They should start using the same assumptions for "recovered" cases as they do for "COVID-19 cases" and "COVID-19 deaths" .

I think the "definition" of "recovered COVID-19 case" requires 2 weeks without symptoms after recovered in the hospital and sent home?

So, like you said, no one is tracking those who go home. Do any of them report back in 2 weeks that they are "fully recovered"?

We need to stop with that nonsense and start doing the same "assumption" game. If someone recovers in the hospital and is sent home, you assume they are recovered and count them as recovered. You don't wait to hear from them in 2 weeks, since that could never happen.

If they can assume a COVID-19 death without testing, they can assume a COVID-19 recovery without confirmation as well.

I will have my attorney point out the death penalty clause in 18 USC 242 to them, and note their 5th amendment right to not answer any questions that may tend to incriminate them before the depositions start.

335 I just worked up the nerve to check the mouse trap under the jacuzzi. I knew I caught one because it was rattling around. I just looked and not only is there no mouse, but the trap is gone!! I looked with a flashlight but I don;t see the trap. There is lots of plumbing underneath so I can't see that much but where could it have gone? If it escaped, I wouldn;t mind. Just try and catch it another day but if it dies somewhere under the jacuzzi, it is going to stink. This is a jacuzzi tub in my bathroom, not a big outside jacuzzi. Oh, what can I do?

My thought all along watching pretty much only fatalities for the last month and half is if they can keep the deaths padded up it keeps many in fear of it. As of 5am NY +298, NJ +310, and Pa which has moved up past California and Conn. at +47 from that time yesterday.

Posted by: Skip at May 02, 2020 11:01 AM

Yep.

Meanwhile, there is no comparison to normal deaths during this same period.

I researched this yesterday for Michigan (population 9.987 million)

2018 Deaths: 98,985

2018 Deaths per month:
--- All Deaths: 8,249
--- Major Cardiovascular Diseases: 2,713
--- Heart Disease: 2,112
--- Malignant Neoplasms: 1,752

--- SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19: 1,263

That 1,263 number is based on the assumption of dividing the total number of deaths in Michigan --- 3,789 --- by 3 months (FEB-MAR-APR).

I guess people could look at that list and still freak out.

But the flip side is that we do not take away people's rights in order to protect the 2,713 people per month who die of cardiovascular diseases. And yet, we have less death from this virus AND we've destroyed the economy AND ushered in a "new normal" of "social distancing" and mandatory mask-wearing everywhere.

Sometimes they will chew a leg off if caught in a trap. When we lived in an old farm house, we caught a rat that did that, then got under the floor boards and died with no way to get to it. I forget what we did to get rid of the smell. Maybe it was my ex wife's cooking.

383 A lot of states are adding cases that the coroner just had CoD as complications of "lung infection" from before everyone was all 'rona all the time. Would be typical sloppiness of the feds if they made it such that the 'rona extra payout was applicable to deaths before they decided it was a pandemic.

I don't care about all the funny money being 'printed' and thrown around. At the end of the day money is just a gauge of value of your day's work vs the goods you want to acquire. But this current situation of letting big brother pick who gets to work and what goods get to be sold cannot be allowed to continue.

However, this is the response from the governor:

...Gov. Abbott said fines are prohibited under his order.

"We strongly recommend that everyone wear a mask," Gov. Abbott said. "However, it's not a mandate.

And we'll make clear that no jurisdiction can impose any type of penalty or fine for anyone not wearing a mask.

Everyone should be encouraged, but by my executive order, it supersedes local orders with regard to any type of fine or penalty for anyone not wearing a mask."

I said, "Do I need to wear a mask? You don't need to wear one for my sake." So neither of us wore masks. He agreed with me that outdoors in the sun and fresh air, there was virtually no unusual risk to anyone. I'm not sure what he thought about my complaint that NYC was so concerned about what the rest of the country was doing while they continued to run their petri-dish subways.
