The Morning Report - 4/23/20

Good morning, kids. Thursday, and another grim milestone of yet another day of America held hostage. Whether it was Shampeachment or the high tech lynching of Justice Kavanaugh or the threat of mass migration invasion, I used to think that all I was doing every morning was just recycling the previous day's editorial over and over again. And here I am again. But those were nothing compared to the Chinese Coronavirus induced psy-op to scare the nation into self-destruction. Yet still I persist because what we are going through is quite literally life and death, and I am not referring to a virus no matter how many lives it actually is responsible for taking.

However all of us, including the President were hoodwinked into shutting down the nation state by state is a matter that needs to be investigated thoroughly. Look what I'm saying considering the aftermath of the plot to overthrow Trump. Let's face it; the same bad actors in politics, the bureaucracy and the media who drove all of those narratives are the ones that are driving this one. Cruel as this may sound, 60,000 deaths - if that number can even be trusted - cannot, does not and never will justify destroying the lives of 331,000,000 citizens (illegal aliens in that group excluded). Yet, to the Democrat-Media Complex, it certainly does. It is inarguable that each of those lives since January 20th, 2017 improved immeasurably in terms of opportunities, the resulting wealth accrual they led to, and overall freedom. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness had not nearly so closely resembled what the Founding Fathers had in mind in decades, perhaps even a century. And then came late February of this year.

I'm pausing for a moment because I am honestly on the verge of tears as I collect my thoughts and try to write something coherent. I'm also enraged because what we are enduring amounts to a Reichstag Fire moment. Please do not fucking lecture me about the massive deaths from Chinese Lung AIDS that warranted the actions taken. The models and statistics are about as reliable as a Magic 8 Ball and the confirmed mortality rate is somewhere in the 0.1-0.3% range which is akin to a bad flu season. What is being done to us has never happened before; not during all the other outbreaks, not after the stock market crashes, not after 9/11. Never. This is tyranny, straight up. It's at our throats with a My Pillow in one hand and a Khalid Shiekh Mohammed rusty hacksaw in the other. The past three years were a complete refutation and rejection of the anti-American progressive globalist enterprise. In fact, it might have been down for the count. This virus was not planned, but it was an opportunity that was seized upon not only to destroy Trump, but to punish us for electing him, and now the opportunity to subjugate us permanently.

There is indeed a plague upon this nation. It is the Globalist Left that includes the Democrat Party, the propagandist media, governmental bureaucracy, academia and anyone and everyone who support it. Ronald Reagan once said:

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

You tell me if what is going on right here and right now is not an extinction-level event. Because it sure as hell is. Tick-tock-tick-tock.

35 My sister hasn't set foot out of her house in a month and a half. Has all her meals and groceries delivered. She told me last night she's never leaving her house again. Ever. Because she "doesn't want to die."

She says she can run her consulting business entirely from home. She can't and she knows it. My mom has to beg me not to tell my crazy sis that she leaves the house to do essential shopping because my sister goes ballistic on her.

My sister sits around the house all day long watching CNN and MSNBC and glued to her tablet reading all the Doomer articles. She has completely lost her mind because she believes every word she hears from the only media she follows.

My sister is not a Karen. She was not born a Karen and has never been a Karen. The MFM broke her.

I had to tell her "I prefer to die on my feet, not on my knees" and hang up.

You are so right and perfectly stated. I've been saying this from the beginning. My Army vet friend didn't believe me, bought the propaganda, told me this was a pandemic as never seen before in human history. Now he understands. I hope many more do. This is really the "final solution" event growing out of their four year campaign to destroy Trump. They couldn't take him down individually or by going after various associates and family, so they've decided to take us all down. Strangely, it may actually be easier.

Meh, not buying that "second wave will be worse" stuff. These corona viruses morph and change quickly, and from all accounts the current one is doing that also. Yes it will still be around in the fall (and next spring, etc.), but chances are that it will be less lethal and much easier to shake off, much like the current version of the 1918 Spanish flu is today.

I am going to try again to throw this out. I've typed it about twelve times and then stopped. It's so touchy.

I am seeing so much anxiety about resuming business, and so much anger about continued regulations. People are feeling the need to catapult to one side or the other, then fight the opposition.

Here's my perspective, from a mainstream medical model. I think a lot of folks have fallen into the idea that social distancing was meant to stop the viral spread. It wasn't-it was meant to SLOW it while we put medical infrastructure in place. It has worked. We have, in most parts of Georgia, not been overwhelmed like we likely would have been without protective measures. In the meantime, our testing procedures have gotten better. We've increased our ventilator count. We've gotten a little better handle on PPE supply chains, and many have helped by making masks and gowns. Phoebe in Albany has a second COVID-19 ICU opened, and Atlanta has a field hospital ready to go. It's not perfect, but it's much better than it was seven weeks ago.

A vaccine is a long way off. At some point, people have to be systematically exposed to begin the building of (hopeful) herd immunity. We will likely begin to experience a real increase in cases after reopening. Ideally, that exposure is controlled and calculated, in phases, to allow our medical community to respond adequately, and reduce the number of severe or fatal cases. That's where we are.

Whether you feel like Georgia is opening too soon, or not soon enough, we were never going to social distance this thing into nonexistence. You now need to proceed as your health, wallet, and conscience allow.

If you are medically vulnerable, you do not need to be a part of what is about to happen. Stay home if you can. If you're not, or if your financial vulnerability trumps your health concerns, you need to proceed in ways that continue to protect yourself, and the elderly and medically vulnerable around you.

All of us need to calm down. Quit telling people who are financially struggling that they don't care about human lives. Quit telling people who are truly at risk of dying from this virus that they are cowering in fear. Remember that until you've walked in someone else's shoes, you should probably be careful in your judgements and subsequent harsh words.

We don't HAVE to choose an either/or proposition and fight. We could choose other ways to be. Examples include but are not limited to:

"I think this may be too soon, so I will continue to shelter myself, and pray/make masks/ check on those who can't."

"I really need to go back to work, so I will do so, but I will be careful and try to protect myself, my family, and those around me with healthy strategies."

See how those positions allow each of us to do what we need to, and also respect those who are choosing differently?

One thing that allows us to do this is humility. I can acknowledge that I am not an epidemiologist/economist/whatever, that I am making decisions based on my understanding of complex subjects and my own personal health and financial situation, that I am not all knowing, always right, and an expert in all fields, and that each person around me is doing their best too. We can make different choices and still be a supportive community. We can learn and evolve in our understanding of these issues.

Meanwhile.... the Gov was forced by political pressure to cancel a no-bid contract for contact tracing of CCP Virus victims which was awarded to a Democrat party affiliated data tracking firm (which we're sure would never misuse the data -wink-wink). She says she doesn't know how the contract was awarded but said that certainly this emergency justifies shortcutting the contract process, or words to that effect.

As of Friday I have the luxury of having at least 8 weeks for my employees to find other work, but they are going to need to find other work because I am not continuing on with them past that. 148 That "Farm to Table" story is good ... I hadn't heard of people doing this, but that was my concept as well ... farmers that produce a variety pack, deliver like the milkman used to do, but with an expanded product line, and online purchasing, online viewing of the farm in action.


That could be a model for many communities, and the growing numbers of retired people could give back to local enterprise, and just perhaps rural communities could build out their economies.


But there are indeed efficiencies in the current SuperMarket model ... and social distancing should not be the NewNormal. But knowing your grower/producer is a nice concept.

Yep. I have recently completed a huge backlash of design work for upcoming construction projects. Practically nothing new has come in the past 7 weeks and every other engineer and architect is in the same situation. Which means as current projects are finished in the coming weeks everybody in construction will be screwed. That is keeping millions afloat at the moment but it is already starting to decline rapidly.

Then I go to well, is it possible that our leaders believed it to be a possible bio weapon and therefore to not behave the way a "natural" virus would. i.e. have a nasty extra kick to it in order to increase fatality.

Yes. The point was never to reduce the *total* number of infected (and therefore, as a proxy, the total number dead) - it was change the *rate* of infections so that we don't overwhelm hospitals. That was the whole point of this BS.

But the hospitals aren't overwhelmed. Massive amounts of medical plant is *idle* right now. There isn't a facilities or ICU crisis anywhere in the country, not even in NYC where temporary hospitals aren't even in common use.

The most positive way to look at it is that unlike a typical recession, there was not a massive misallocation of capital, in theory we should be able to largely resume what we were doing previously, which should allow for a quicker recovery. Granted this depends on the length of the shutdown, from the extremes of 1 day being practically unnoticeable to 6 months meaning the collapse of the country.

They recognize and capitalize well. I don't think this was an "op" from the start, but they have been able to turn it into one. It's impressive in a very evil way.

I keep thinking on why Trump let this happen. I can only come up with two options:
1) Trump was rooked by the technocrats in an area where he had no expertise, and lost control.
2) The IC told him and others behind closed doors that this thing came from the Wuhan bio lab and no one has any idea what it is, but that it might be a bioweapon. And, based on China's silence and violent suppression in their quarantine zone, an extreme response was warranted.

I lean more toward #2, but I think #1 is a possibility.

I put a lot of faith in the 61% number and believe the way the question was asked has something to do with it. If recent, most people are looking to 30-Apr and saying "Yeah. OK. That seems reasonable."


If the question asked "do you believe the lockdown should go until mid June or July or the next 12-18 months, that 61% figure goes down dramatically IMHO.

I think part of that is the infections has been mostly limited to Detroit area. If I'm back home in the G.R. area, and it's in Detroit, most people are going to give her a passing grade on keeping it in the Detroit area - i.e., her alleged lockdown parameters.

which is why I fear that we're marching into the 2nd Great Depression, or maybe the Greater Depression. Optimistic people (it's nice to be optimistic, of course) keep saying "oh, we'll bounce back! When asked by the press if he was going to share those models, he said he would today, so we will see what he's working off of.I get the feeling from listening to him that he maybe wants to start opening some stuff up, but also that he is hamstrung by the true believers. I have no doubt we'll get an extension, but I still think it will be until mid-May, not the end of June.

That "job" she had was especially created for her. It was all bullshit, just a thinly-disguised political payoff. Michelle had one (and only one) job as a junior lawyer, right out of law school. She was hired by a firm called Sidley & Austin. She flunked the Illinois bar exam, which is usually grounds for firing if you're white, but since she was a black female, they kept her on and gave her special help. She still couldn't cut it, so eventually a partner told her gently that the firm "wasn't the right fit" for her, and they fired her. She tried to get another lawyer job, but nobody would hire her. Then her political "friends" created a non-lawyer job for her, and she never worked as a lawyer again (not because she didn't want to, but because she didn't have the talent or ability).

And this is the great "genius" that the Dims hold up as a role model for young girls.

This is NOT the flu - this is a coronavirus cultivated in a communist lab. Trump had to act decisively. If one person died without tremendous government intervention, Trump would have been done for and a Chinese stooge. NYC was hit hard because they didn't take action when they should have. They didn't want to be called the "R" word. In any event - Novel means exactly that - new without any knowledge about it. All the Monday morning quarterbacking going on is ridiculous.

Everyone is getting their numbers from Twitter thinking they have insight the President and Vice-President don't have. Twitter and the internet is swill. Both those gentlemen have been getting briefed and working on the problem for weeks. In the briefings you can see it on their faces. To dismiss his decision-making as cavalier I think is a mistake. That is why the MSM during the briefings have done everything they can to challenge the President rather than gather facts.

The UK tried the herd immunity approach and then too many grew ill, the PM was hospitalized, and the conservatives are being roasted for it. Can you imagine if President Trump was hospitalized?
There is NO cure or vaccine for the commie cultivated virus. This was not about "stopping" or "killing" the virus - that is leftist MSM moving the goalposts. It was all about making sure the hospitals had capacity to support those who fell ill. Nothing more and nothing less. That is why we are opening up now and at a slow pace.

I think all the complaining about quarantine and "rights" is for 1st
world pussies. We all believe TV medicine - the patient is cured by
science in the third act. On quarantine - early in our founding (and for at least 100 years) quarantine was COMMONPLACE. People couldn't leave ships for weeks in harbor for fear of epidemic. Towns and cities would be shut down, because "medicine" could not cure anything in the 18th century. Your rights - then and now - are not unlimited and can be reasonably restricted for the common good. Your rights don't include spreading new communist viruses whether you like it or not.

It used to be a very nice city. I had really hoped to move there. Than all those Californians traipsed in and ruined the housing market, driving up real estate prices like crazy. And bringing their insane politics with them: they ruined one state, now they are dead set on ruining another.

And then there are the sweet, but naive Mormons, who think helping the poor "refugees" is incumbent upon them. Let them go proselytize among the Moslem refugees they've welcomed. That'd be great.

Eight years ago, their crazy mayor would never have been elected.

501 Data is now showing that the states with lockdowns are where the deaths are at.

The nine states that didn't lock down have a lower death rate per capita, and of course, their citizens are now more immune to the virus, so its much safer to walk around even for those that have underlying conditions, but if you're that person, I'd stay put till about 50% of the population has the antibodies and aren't carriers.

I randomly joined an organic farming co-op last fall after seeing an ad for them on YouTube late one night. I initially signed up for the minimum subscription (ten pounds every three months), figuring that just having a few pounds of good meat in my freezer at all times would encourage me to cook a little more often.

But then last week I saw that Smithfield was shutting down its main plant, and I knew JBS was already shut down, so I figured there could be meat shortages in the near future. So, just to be on the safe side, I upped my "meat subscription" to thirty pounds, and bumped up my next delivery to this week. It seemed like a better idea than potentially fighting the other panic-buyers for whatever scraps I could manage to lug home from the local supermarkets.

I'm a little shocked at the amount of food I have on hand right now!

513 Chins up. This fubar situation presents more opportunities for limited-government conservatism than it does for any green new dealers or would-be expert automatons. I've been following the silly debate about whether to reopen the economy and there seems to be a slow realization sinking in that, as any conservative could have told you, life is about trade-offs. There is no magic government bullet that is going to save lives. Real life rarely allows us to eat our cake, too. Reopen, people will die. Keep it shut down, people will die. It's unfortunate, but these are the choices with which the CCP has left us. AGHamilton of Twitter (and now National Review contributor, it appears) wrongly calls it a choice between freedom and life (not very Hamiltonian). It is a value choice between liberty and security. I love liberty and believe it provides security as a by-product even if it's not always immediately evident. Having a roaring economy provides security by enabling more people to take care of themselves. Control freaks who are petrified of life and the risks it entails value security above all, which leads inevitably and ironically to an erosion of it.
