Quarantine Cafe

Today my symptoms got worse. Or, maybe, it was that the side effects of the drugs I'm on combined to make everything worse. I finally persuaded them to give me z-pack, so I have some hopes.

I've "flattened the curve" of my steroid dose so maybe tomorrow won't be that bad. (The dosage goes like this: six pills day one, five pills day two, four pills day three, three pills day four, two pills day 5, one pill day six. I'm two pills through day four so it shouldn't be as bad tomorrow. I wouldn't mind the side effects if the steroids had any noticeable positive effect, but they didn't, as far as I can tell. Today was horrible.)

I don't think the media has a single square centimeter open on their mantel, what with all the awards for Excellence and Accuracy and Professionalism and Dignity they're winning lately!

I usually am never at a loss for words, but today I am totally speechless. I will never be able to thank you enough for so wonderfully helping us during this challenging time. Grammie says you guys are like family. I have seen that times ten today. Please know I will keep you all in my prayers of thanksgiving -

54 So the IRS extracted this pounds of flesh from my checking account bang on time on the 15th, apparently without any difficulty. However, because I used TurboTax and e-filed in February I had to go to their website and input my direct deposit data in order to get my "stimulus" give-away cash direct deposited, which I did, about 10-days ago.

The IRS still has no date for when my payment will arrive. I guess that vaccum-tube driven Univac assigned to process said payments is a little overwhelmed.

So grammie set up a GFM at our urging to allow us to help them through this. And, as usual, the horde came through in tremendous fashion!

Several years later, I still don't have my normal voice, and can't sing (I sang in a band when I was younger).

NY/NJ would have the second most in the world. Ahead of Spain and Italy.

They would come in just shy of Italy's 25,000 deaths. With the rest of the US tied with Spain at 21,000.

Covid is not so much a US problem, it is a NY/NJ problem. It is not that they have a few more deaths than the rest of the country, they have 12 times the death rate. 166 Needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few party is adamant about keeping businesses either in handcuffs or shut down.

We’ve got Gov Cuomo on video putting it best on their behalf:

“Nothing comes before the risk of somebody else’s life. And that’s where we are. “ Tell your adult brat that, fuckface.

Let’s go on:

“You will be paid, you will be paid.”
From what fucking profit out there in the Capitalistic gold mine you were used to robbing from?

I heard him say “Yeah but the illness might be my death, not your death.”

Always weaponizing scripture, they are.
My favorite is the brother’s keeper line.
They seem to forget that God never commanded us to be “our brother’s keeper”. That lesson comes from a book that they scoff! Not something they believe in. This same book includes the story of Creation. 2020 people are so vain that they don’t realize that creation as explained then matches with cosmology today.

At any rate, back to the Cain and Abel story.
Fucker murdered his brother. What he said when he was caught? “Am I my brother’s keeper?” That is the reaction of a murderer trying to lie about it. Not a fucking commandment.

So, one of the most quoted biblical line quoted by Democrats is that of a murderer’s pathetic defense.

175 Ace,

I've been on prednisone a long time (this time), but fortunately, it doesn't have any bad side effects for me. It does shut down your adrenal glands, so you have no energy. And it really is critical to taper down the way they tell you to! I've been on it so long, I'd doing 1mg less every three weeks. Doctor told me to just hang out at a dose longer if I needed to. I'll be on 1mg starting Saturday, then three more weeks and I'll finally be done.

It does help a lot with inflammation. You might want to pick up an oximeter, so you can see what your O2 levels are like. Get well soon!

233 Social distancing is nonsensical and bullshit just like wearing masks are.

We
live in highly integrated social networks, we work and live in highly
conditioned spaces that are optimized for spreading virus.

Nothing stops the spread of a virus, NOTHING.

Viral
outbreaks burn themselves out or we gain enough herd immunity so that
our bodies can deal with it without our immune responses killing us.

Or we develop a vaccine, for which we have developed a handful.

If
masks worked then Asian countries would have the lowest instances of
flu and virus outbreaks because on a per capita basis, nobody has a
better PPE common acceptance and use than Asians.

But Asian countries do not have lower instances of flu and viral outbreaks.

This is all one gigantic scam brought to us by the Deep State and "The Men and Women of Science!"

397 So the IRS extracted this pounds of flesh from my checking account bang on time on the 15th, apparently without any difficulty.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time seeing how they are going to hide the fact that he's senile, even from the LIV's. Slow Joe was never that bright, but his natural dimness, combined with his obviously advancing cognitive decline, is painful to watch. He is often incoherent. How is he supposed to debate Trump? He won't be able to memorize the lines his flunkies will feed him during the debate prep, and he's not quick enough to ad lib effectively during the debate. He's just going to end up looking confused and pathetic. Are the Dims just hoping that people will vote for him out of pity?

Then there's the fact that Biden has been making excuses for China -- calling Trump an over-reacting raaaaacist for imposing the Chinese travel ban (which every disease "expert" agrees was helpful in slowing the rate of infection here), criticizing Trump's tariff negotiations with China, and having his creepy meth-head son Hunter making bank from various Chinese companies that were blatantly trying to buy influence with the U.S. government via Hunter's crooked daddy. Biden is China-compromised in so many ways, and with China being the cause of the U.S.' current woes, that is not a good place to be. And Trump's team will be making plenty of commercials reminding people of all of Biden's sleazy China suck-ups.

408 I've had bronchitis brought on by bad allergies more times than i can count since I was a kid. I've had it progress into pneumonia many times as well. The only time I was ever sick enough to ask to be taken to the ER, as opposed to forcefully taken, I had Legionnaires, and almost died. My parents told me I was in the hospital for over 2 weeks on a respirator, the doctors said I was less than a hour from being on a vent, and I don't remember any of this except telling my mom something was wrong.

ace, if you feel as bad as you say you do, I'd get tested again for Airborne Chink AIDS and treat it like I had it. Inhalers are a miracle drug for bronchitis. Just my 2 cents YMMV.

-------

This is true.

Another problem for him is that he's an aggressive debater. He's built a reputation as a "fighter" for his constituents. He knows he can use his designated Party redshirts as punching bags during primary debates, and he's used to deploying his "tough-guy Joe" act on GOP rivals without any pushback.

But nobody perceives Joe as tough anymore. He's frail. And even if he were in his doltish prime, he wouldn't be able to sell that bullshit in a debate with Trump. He's not Paul Ryan.

Last summer, I was on vacation and was trying to figure out how to get the book to work (I've been struggling with it for more years than I care to say), when the tagline "Theda Bara, you're under arrest for murder" came into my head, and from that point on I have been writing the second half of the book. When I finish, I have to take the first half and adjust it to match the new stuff, stripping out all the side roads and dead ends.

But it will be done. I hope. And thanks to all of you for letting me vent.

Yesterday I went to the nearby City Market and every employee was masked. They had aisles marked one-way and I walked mask-less the wrong way. A couple of masked idiots glared at me and I smiled to them. These are the crazy times that Heinlein predicted.

So tragic. Reach out to those who are struggling right now. The media is driving up the panic trying to get people struggling mentally and emotionally to kill themselves. Murder by proxy.

I like Goodman's idea and dislike that Andi dissed her. At the same time, I'm a believer in following what the ACTUAL science says. If *actual* science says her plan is 90% safe or so, I say go for it.

This is the problem... even science has been hijacked. I don't want to hear from spinners who demand we quarantine forever. I want to see and hear the actual science and figure things out for myself.

732 Went home from work early on Tuesday, shortness of breath, no fever, ribs and lefr arm hurting. Just like last October when I had a 90% blocked artery on my heart. Called the cardiologist and asked for his next available appointment, which was today.
Dude asked some questions, checked my temperature, listened to my lungs, and then agreed with me that I had an issue. I'm going in to the surgery tomorrow morning at 0930 for a heart catheter. Doc's words - "if it's just plaque, we'll give you an angioplasty on the spot or maybe a stint in the adjacent artery if that one's clogged up now. If we find the blockage occurring at the juncture of the two arteries, we'll have you in for bypass surgery on either Friday or Monday".
Fuck. Me. Dude spouts out bypass surgery like he's asking me if I want fries or chips with my sammich.
Anyway, I'll know what up tomorrow. I'll let youse lot know when I wake up from the good drugs.

$10 billion a year in revenues for the league, and 30% of that comes from ticket sales alone, so figuring dead average ticket prices and attendance in California, then you're looking at $1.2 billion tickets alone, plus concessions, parking, nearby bar revenues, etc.

Analgesics of my misspent youth are the bleeping bomb where my medical travails are concerned. Too bad I couldn't use them in conjunction with that pretzel rod. The oxy is kinda pedestrian, though.
