The 2005 plan created the Strategic National Stockpile of medical supplies and equipment under the auspices of the Department of Health and Human Services and called for the distribution of supplies from six highly secured sites to state and local sites after a pandemic "surge." This Strategic National Stockpile is totally separate from the site in Dubai that the U.S. government uses for international distribution under the Foreign Assistance Act. According to a Center for Disease Control report published after the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, 39 million N95 masks were initially distributed from the stockpile, followed by 59.5 million more in second wave. According to Johnson, the stockpile originally was about 100 million masks. From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, there were over 60 million cases of H1N1 requiring 274,304 hospitalizations and resulting in 12,469 deaths in the United States. After the H1N1 virus slowed down in 2010, according to Johnson, "it was important to restock." That did not happen as the national stockpile budget focused on other priorities deemed higher.I'm sorry, I'm totally phoning it in and have been all week. I'm beat. Would be a big fan of pointing out the errors and disasters under Obama, and how you're correcting them - but just generic vague "it's that other guy's fault" is not acceptable. Be specific. Frame the public discussion. If you want to be able to really fix things.
Not Trump's way, I know. He's almost always right, but often also serves himself poorly by never going beyond vague generalities in explaining something.
I've got a very high bar to *any* kind of "OMG this should have been in place and why weren't we ready for this and OMG why didn't we read the adversary's mind in advance and OMG why isn't everything like a stupid novel or movie and OMG perfection is the only standard!!!!! eleventy!!!!" - which has been default mode for the press and much of the public for a few decades now.
So I don't actually expect Trump or any president to have fixed everything and foreseen every possible thing. But it's lame, in April 2020, to point back to January 2017. Regardless of what an epic disaster the Obama operation was - and it obviously was (was clear at the time).

I ranked them based on their ability to stay with you for a while. I love The Dog of the South because Portis tells you who Portis is and what he likes. Masters of the Universe is more subtle than Dog. Norwood was his first and a little choppy. Still digesting Gringos but my first impression was Portis was sort of channeling a John D. I am on it for my neighborhood and that has not been my experience. It's mainly lost dogs and requests for recommendations for repairs. They did one very nice thing twice--organized car parades for a child having a birthday. Someone with a personal drone videoed it and the kids were so happy and excited.

Hence, Covid-19--because it's so exciting--will wipe out millions of lives.
Despite that we are now just at a point where the *world's* number of Covid-19 cases is reaching the total number of *America's* H1N1 cases in 2010.
And while Corona virus has taken way too many people, we are no where close to the *condition*--that was the *identifying condition*--of Gates' speech: "The thing that kills 10 million".
What we have in common with that speech is they are both viruses.

He does now. And I suspect that he's quietly making inquiries to find out why no one brought this up with him. At a guess, I suspect that he's quietly doing a survey of EVERY emergency stockpile that the government is supposed to be maintaining.
My suspicion is that people raised a fuss about the mask stockpile when it first got raided back in 2009. But it didn't get refilled. And the people who knew that this wasn't the normal state of affairs - i.e. that there should be more masks - got transferred or promoted to other jobs that didn't have anything to do with masks just as the normal course of events. The new incoming people watching the stockpiles likely didn't know that there was anything wrong with the supply of masks. So they didn't say anything about it when President Trump took office.

Yep, and naturally staff includes the lawyers who make sure patients know their rights. I recall the consent forms to be very detailed. It's far from a simple yes or no.
The cost will depend on the number of people as well. I assume that any wuflu trial will be as large as possible, and all the staff will be needed up front. Some trials run over a longer period and people are added as other are complete.
Still the price sounds fabulously high. I bet that the hospitals expect there to be a massive insurance presence involved as the press and donks will encourage lawsuits for less than flawless outcomes.

In Virginia it's illegal to run a hair-care biz out of your home unless you have installed special drains, vents, etc. And some localities will have zoning problems.
My own observation is that these rules will be ignored as long as the volume of business is low and the neighbors don't complain about traffic.

But even that's not the problem. The real problem is the speed of transmission. Even a century ago, the Chinese Lung Rot wouldn't have gotten out of Hubei province. People just didn't travel that much back then and certainly not at today's speed. We are about twenty four hours from an invincible bug.

I haven't seen it either. But if it's about the next thing that kills 10 million and people are crediting him of having "foreseen Covid-19" and providing synopsis of what he was "right about". If you're a half-way keen observer, the disconnect comes pretty obvious.
But the progs have "momentous" blinders on. They think they are momentous. They are bored with mundane things and wait for things to get excited about. So they see a historical pandemic still trailing influenza in deaths.
They are looking for a "reason" that it gets to millions of deaths--and Trump is that "reason" to them.
I would never say that Covid-19 can't kill 10 million. I just don't know that much about it. But so far, it's just not the "Pandemic that killed millions" they are waiting for.

Years ago I worked at a place that did a massive layoff. The owner called all the now unemployed people into a meeting - and video taped it. It started out with him telling them it wasn't their fault, market conditions, etc. It ended with him yelling at them saying it was all their fault.
After he dismissed them and they were off the property, he called all of us remaining employees into the same meeting room and made us watch the video.

When I was young I always asked for Miracle Whip. We had the one seed, Hellmans, but I wanted to be different. A lot of other kids got Miracle Whip and they had those great commercials.
I tried Dukes as an adult and wanted to like it. It wasn't necessarily bad but it did not wow me. So much of this stuff is based on what you grew up with.

The other day I was trying to remember other former presidents and their behavior. I honestly can't remember being "treated " to articles about former presidents body surfing, vacationing with millionaires, etc. Obama really was a celebrity (empty suit) President. Even slick Willy was very slightly less obnoxious.

Hopefully when this is all done they have a real inquiry into this mess, and show how Trump came into an inadequately supplied FEMA (they who take care of this stuff?) As well as finding out who pushed for this shutdown and if they benefited from it.
