Re the model predictions, compare CA with NY here:

CA ~5100 total deaths, peaks around May 1, tails off early June.

NY peaks in 9 days, much narrower, sharper curve. ~16,000 total deaths, tailing off by May 1st.

30 Horses. Okay, here's one.

Horses were first domesticated on the Pontic-Caspian steppes 5,000 years ago. This was a feat of speakers of proto-Indo-European dialect. For the first several hundred years horses were used only for food (they didn't need fodder in the winters) but then one day some especially clever PIE-speaking brute figured out that you could ride one.

And after that they were off to the races.

Tucker talking. Corona most likely came from type of horseshoe bat. No horseshoe bats sold in Wuhan wet market. No horseshoe bat colony anywhere near Wuhan.

However, Wuhan bio labs were using horseshoe bats and strains of the viruses they carry.

Conclusion. WuFlu leaked out of that ChiCom lab in Wuhan.

119 13times, not much of a fiction guy here, but that inter-war book idea sounds intriguing.

As for Russian exiles ("Whites" - anti-commies) in China, decades ago I was in Harbin, capital of the Manchurian region (now the province of Heilongjiang - "Black Dragon", cool name for a province actually).

It was of course a big center of Russian exile White-guard types in the 1920s/30s. And it shows. The architecture - thought I was back in Leningrad. And the bread stalls on corners - bread stalls, in China? - selling among other things Russian black bread - though I assume some of the Russian cultural influence pre-dates the 20s.

And just a few years after that, different job, a colleague in another bureau who provided technical advice had actually grown up in Harbin, son of Russian exiles. He said he actually was with his family, dressed in Sunday best, for the parade welcoming the Japanese puppet Pu Yi that is the opening scene in "The Last Emperor". He said just as in the movie, the Japanese Army went door to door, to, um, "boost enthusiasm" for the event - and make sure everybody went.

272 Horses were first domesticated on the Pontic-Caspian steppes 5,000 years ago. This was a feat of speakers of proto-Indo-European dialect. For the first several hundred years horses were used only for food (they didn't need fodder in the winters) but then one day some especially clever PIE-speaking brute figured out that you could ride one.

And after that they were off to the races.

Remember at the end of Dances With Wolves when Pretentious Narrator was lamenting the passing of the "Great Horse Culture Of The Plains"? In an attempt to make us feel guilty about the Indian Wars?

They left out the part where that Great Culture was less than 300 years old and only existed because white men from Spain brought horses over in the 1500s. If not for them, there would have been a couple od scattered bands of starving Indians vainly chasing buffalo herds on foot, mostly unsuccessfully.

A suspected Covid-19 male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. A young student female nurse appears and gives him a partial sponge bath.
"Nurse," he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?"
...
12:36 AM · Mar 28, 2020·Twitter for iPhone

Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet."
He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my testicles black?"

Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and
pulls back the covers.
She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles gently in the other.

She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them, Sir. They look fine."
The man slowly pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her, and says very slowly,
"Thank you very much. That was wonderful. Now listen very,
very, closely:
"Are - my - test - results - back?"

283 Hello, horde. Here I am in Kingman AZ. My mother-in-law passed away late last night. She was in a coma, and when we got here yesterday my husband and his brothers spoke to the doctor and decided to take her off life support. The doctor said if she stayed on the machines her blood oxygen levels were going to keep dropping until her heart couldn't keep up, so the machines were just delaying the inevitable.

Our flights here were virtually empty; being on a 737-900 with less than 30 passengers on board was eerie. Entering the hospital was interesting, they had a tent setup and people in full hazmat suits screening visitors. Anyway, Arizona is in lockdown as of about 30 minutes ago, so hubs & I are just hanging around the hotel.

296 They left out the part where that Great Culture was less than 300 years old and only existed because white men from Spain brought horses over in the 1500s. If not for them, there would have been a couple od scattered bands of starving Indians vainly chasing buffalo herds on foot, mostly unsuccessfully.

It's worse than that. The plains Indians weren't even living on the plains with the advent of horses. They used horses to make war on the existing plains tribes and drive those other tribes onto less productive land.

Cats. They are excellent machines that learn to adapt their behavior to human behavior to get what they want.

There is something about me that trains cats to do this "I want to go out" fake out to get food. In the past year, Miley's cat, Harli, has adapted to that.

5 minutes ago, she caught my eye and did a bee line for the back door. She even points at the door, sticking her head forward and pointing right out.

I go and start to the open the door. She waits until my hand gets close to the knob, then immediately runs off to the food bowl.

I'm trying your idea of three double spaces, but I predict they won't come through in the posted result.
This site's formatting controls have always been very broken.
What amuses me the most is how you go out of your way to provide controls for boldface, italics, underlining, and strikethrough, NONE OF WHICH WORKS!
(Update: Trying to post the above as a single paragraph produced this unhelpful message:
"Your message has been rejected because long strings of unbroken text are
very annoying. Use the space bar or tinyurl.com as appropriate."
Yes, dear.
It happens over and over even as I add more spaces, so I'm going to keep adding more until I succeed.)

323 Hello, horde.

325 However, Wuhan bio labs were using horseshoe bats and strains of the viruses they carry.

Conclusion. WuFlu leaked out of that ChiCom lab in Wuhan.
___________________

Yes, there was an article several years ago in which some woman scientist in the Wuhan lab was talking about how they were experimenting with bat viruses, and trying to make one that would infect humans by using the ACE2 receptors. And of course, now we have a global pandemic, that started in Wuhan, caused by a bat virus that infects humans using the ACE2 receptor.

It's not a coincidence.

I was saying the same thing the other day. Under landlord tenant law, I think there are some great lawsuits to be had here.

Plus the tuition bullshit.

on the bluff about 20 feet behind my house. That's not the weird part.
It's spring, that's what they do. The strange part was that they all
walked to the edge of the bluff, looking into the window right at me,
before they fanned out their tail feathers.

Sneaky bastards. I have them in my yard frequently. Yesterday, one was standing under my office window about 6:30am - about 8' and let loose a gobble. Nearly jumped out of my skin. I got a video of them walking down the street, and a neighbor lady commenting how loud they were. That time of year!

Which is kind of ironic as the lib educators are for the most part aligned with panic drivers in the MSM. Fortunately my kids are about as concerned about the virus as they are about climate crisis the school is always pushing. They have utterly failed with my kids who view this shut-down as a great opportunity to sharpen their Roblox and Mind-craft skills.

Well, a few things suggest this may or may not be fully true. It's certainly true they couldn't seed clouds or consume oceans of oil. Yet, many of the structures they made still exist (see England) and the fires they set in some forests did change the landscape quite a bit, and might have affected climate.

However, they did not have rockets, guns, or monster trucks. Thus, I think we are better for the earth, because those things are awesome, and make the earth more awesome.

I had something familiar in my fingers that I could take a drag of. Second, taking that drag while talking to people gave me those few seconds to puzz!e out what I was going to say next. Until I quit smoking, I never realized what a social crutch it was for me.

602 The jokes write themselves

Reuters reports that Malaysia's Karex Bhd, a company that is responsible for producing one out of every five condoms globally, spent over a week without producing a single condom at its three factories after the government imposed a lockdown to halt the spread of the coronavirus.

This has resulted in a shortfall of 100 million condoms which normally would be marketed worldwide under such brands as Durex, distributed through aid programs like the United Nations Population Fund, and the U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS).

Similar with gloves.

I see people becoming dependant on these items and complacent when wearing masks and gloves.

But let them go ahead and deck themselves on above and then touch their face repeatedly to adjust the mask and remove their gloves improperly and shuck them on the public streets. Not only that. They rudely get right next to other people because they feel protected and they dont care if they themselves infect someone else.

668 Two stories are in the news about extreme contagion events. A choir met, used hand cleaners, kept some distance and sang. 45 of 60 members infected. A funeral event also had an extreme amount of contagion and I assume there was singing.

I postulate that the vocal cords, when worked hard for singing, can create very tiny droplets others can take deep into their lungs.
I have adopted some habits for this virus,.that maybe are extreme, but cost me nothing. (Over 65 and take blood pressure medicine so realistically I should be in the Dr. Strangelove deep mine shaft a high ratio of young women).
I will now avoid singers and talkers exercising their vocal cords.
