Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Double-Woke Seven: Daniel Craig Whines That They Tried to Keep Trump and Brexit Out of Our New James Bond Fantasy Film, But They Sadly FailedTrump and Brexit and RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE!!! Who's psyched?! I can't wait to see James Bond's newest mission for the British Soycret Soyvice. In other Bonfire of the IPs news: CBS All Access won't tell us how many people are watching the Fake Star Trek Picard show -- which suggests to me that the numbers are soft -- but we do know how many people are watching in Canada, where it's broadcast over the airwaves. While it's still doing pretty well, it's lost half a million viewers as the series has ground on. Sony's doing a Cinderella movie, and they've decided to make the Fairy Godmather "genderless" -- that is, transgender. Actor Billy Porter recently revealed he will be playing a "genderless" Fairy Godmother in Sony’s upcoming Cinderella film. The live-action adaptation by Kay Cannon will attempt to modernize the classic tale with an all-star cast and some social messaging. Porter let the cat out of the bag that the Fairy Godmother would be "genderless" in an interview with CBS News.I'm sure parents can't wait to bring their little ones to that. I've mentioned Fake Doctor Who's ratings a lot, but the final, consolidated numbers came in, where they add in everyone who watched the show on-demand/streaming for a week. The finale -- the finale! of the show posted the worst ratings in all of the "New Who" series (that is, since they brought the show back in 2005). Furthermore, of the lowest ten rated episodes in all of Doctor Who history, going all the way back to the Kennedy assassination (when Doctor Who had the bad luck of premiering), six of the worst-rated episodes occurred this season. This season -- when they actually add in viewers watching on demand the week after broadcast. People hate this show so much the BBC had to issue a formal response. "Doctor Who is a beloved long-running series and we understand that some people will feel attached to a particular idea they have of the Doctor, or that they enjoy certain aspects of the programme more than others. Opinions are strong and this is indicative of the imaginative hold that Doctor Who has -- that so many people engage with it on so many different levels."Shut the f*** up, c**k. This actually might be part of a major political issue in the UK. The BBC is funded by forced licensing fees. But Boris Johnson wants to do away with forcing the public to pay for leftwing propaganda and make the BBC compete for its money. The creator of Downton Abbey and screenwriter of Gosford Park -- who seems to lean conservative -- says the BBC has put its forced licensing grift at risk with its "ridiculous" bias. He comes just short of saying the BBC should be abolished, at least as a taxpayer-supported propaganda mill. Which is a major thing from a creative who works a lot with the BBC. In an apparent attack on the BBC’s political stance and Brexit coverage, the Oscar-winning dramatist told The Mail on Sunday: 'I think it's very difficult to justify tax expenditure being used by a corporation that does not show a broad spectrum of beliefs and philosophies. 'I think if you are going to do it on public money then you do have a responsibility.' The 70-year-old Tory peer added: 'When you [consider that] the side they are not representing is essentially the majority, then the situation becomes even more ridiculous.'No one cares about CW's super-#Woke "Batwoman," which is why it's suffering its lowest ratings ever. So's Supergirl. And the CW's other garbage shows aren't doing that great, either. Meanwhile, DC Comics -- which has disastrously followed the #Woke Marvel model, including hiring non-writer Zoe Quinn to write a book for them (spoiler alert: it was cancelled for low sales) -- might get the axe from newly merged corporate parent AT&T/Warner Bros within a couple of years. Though the "axe" would just mean licensing its characters to third-party comic book publishers while it retains the rights to exploit them for TV and movies. AT&T and Warner want to get into the streaming game, and DC characters -- while not so hot at the moment -- are at least something. Still, a lot of comic book writer/artist deadweight would likely be jettisoned. "The Greta Thunberg of Marvel," Brie Larson, recently tried to remake her terrible public image as the most annoying, entitled cooze in show business by guest-hosting Jimmy Fallon. In that appearance, she -- get this! -- actually smiled a lot, and showed cleavage. Like, a lot of it. Like, more than you'd think. At about the same time, she put out a video on Twitter that showed her bouncing, bouncing, jiggling and bouncing as she ran down some stairs.

People are attached to the Doctor as he was for 50 years. the character and the shows your fucking ancestors made for us. You decided, all on your own, to take that character, and make it into something else. No reason. Imagine someone going to the Acropolis and saying, gee, this would make a great nail salon. We understand that some people will feel attached to a particular idea they have of the Acropolis, or that they enjoy certain aspects of the Acropolis more than others. It's cultural vandalism. Worse, it uncreative - it does nothing to extend and improve the franchise, it simply takes a wrecking ball to facts already established. Here's something I found staggering.
Doctor Who's finale racked up about 4.6 million viewers. Star Trek Picard gets about a million in Canada. Say you quadruple it on this side of the border and add some. Call it 4.5 million viewers. "Unsellable Houses" on HGTV - which follows a couple of hip young women in (I think) Portland who help sellers make their houses hip and sellable in exchange for some of the sale price - racks up 7 million viewers. A real estate show on HGTV with somewhat limited appeal gets nearly double what these former cultural-icon programs bring in. Such are the wages of wokeness. Speaking for myself, I love the entertainment breaks during the day.
1. I like the posts 2. Without the breaks it all becomes one long thread. I like riffing on different subjects, but even the best ones can quickly go stale. Lot of fertile minds here but that means we run the gamut easily. Entertainment is a great cross pollinator. 3. Talking pure politics is actually incredibly annoying and by breaking out on tangent posts instead of just Top Stories, I feel we "break" the hypnotic and often demoralizing Narrative the DNC-Media wants us to talking/thinking about. Do you really want to do 1 Weinstein, 1 stock market, 1 Biden, and 2 Coronavirus posts? It's depressing when you look at it like that. And that's not just today, it's every day. 4. Be better, Ace I know movies aren't everyone's bag but I genuinely think #3 is incredibly important for camaraderie and our own mental well being. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at March 11, 2020 03:16 PM (KZzsI) ========== Connery, I got the sense, that his Bond never actually enjoyed the sex he had in the films. The sex was just part of the job. A tool to get what he needed to complete the mission. Moore felt like the kind of Bond who got into the spy game as an excuse to sleep with women. My guess is with impending escalation of the panic
there is a "Crucible" moment coming for the US ? Posted by: REDACTED at March 11, 2020 03:01 PM (rpxSz) I wouldn't be surprised. These sorts of moral panics come about because of exceptional stress on closed societies, where the power structure is trying to bleed off societal tension due to perceived failure, loss, or discredited social order. Often there is a drive to identify the enemy without, and then find the colluders within Sometimes there is scapegoating, in fact often it is identifying someone to be destroyed as a scapegoat is the act, followed up by a search to identify the next scapegoat. If it is an ongoing thing, it scares the little people into being in line and rolls them into the social order to search out the scapegoats, if only to make sure they aren't picked up as the next victim instead. The movies they're making now are derived from comic books that nerds have read for years. How many new nerds are not buying the new woke comics and won't go watch a woke movie from a comic they never read? Posted by: Vanya at March 11, 2020 03:31 PM (H5ZlJ) Actually it's quite simple. The Saudi's, now with the help of the UAE, have decided it's time to crash the international financial system in order to A) destroy US oil producers and B) eliminate Iran once and for all. The second goal is arguably in our favor, which is probably why we're not doing much to stop them. The US economy should over time react decently to the shock. Lower consumer prices and lower manufacturing costs will be good for us. With Episode 5 only clocking in 1.309 million, it lost 111,000 viewers [from episode 4]. That's almost a 30% decline in viewership in just 5 episodes.
The show is losing on average 108,000 viewers per episode. It has lost 542,000 total since the premiere episode. --- That's not too bad. They could lose 100,000,000 viewers a week and still have a million viewers at the end of the season. Posted by: CNN math at March 11, 2020 03:36 PM (KUaJL) 435

Connery was 53 when he did Never Say Never--a year younger than Daniel Craig is now--and 5 years YOUNGER than Tom Cruise --who still does action movies believably.
Yeah but 50 in the 70s is not the same as 50 now. People are staying fit and healthy and vital much older than they used to. People joke about how Aunt May looked too old in the comics, but back in the early 60s, that's what someone in their 50s reasonably would look like. You can see it in old TV shows and movies, anyone past 40 is a bent old crone or withered old man. White hair, rheumatism, etc. Life was very hard for their earlier years, plus everyone smoked like a chimney. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at March 11, 2020 03:48 PM (KZzsI) 526

We can all say it's just like the flu, but if like 20,000 plus Americans die of this, you don't want to be the leader that 's trying to make that comparison.
===== So the it will still be about 20 K dead. Except they'll all die in about the same 30 days. With the flu it spans over a season and the peak is attenuated by the flu shots. theres no shot for this and its pretty contagious, so everyone is going to get it about the same time. The resources will be over taxed and you'll get a lot of people who will not make it because they didn't have a ventilator available. They do a lot of non invasive ventilation now for ARDS which will help a lot, but it's still gonna suck till like July. Peak will probably be in May. Yes, the engagement is certainly getting more selective, though. No one's imagining that. Posted by: AnonyBotymousDrivel at March 11, 2020 04:00 PM (6eEQ+) Posted by: Sharkman at March 11, 2020 04:02 PM (7ThNu) 587
You think she's hot because she played a Terminator, which is just a wink and a nod away from a sex bot in the right situation.--
I think she's hot because she beat up a bunch of Reavers in Serenity

Brie Larson?

Roger Moore was the most charming person in real life. But maybe wrong to play a character who breaks a sweat.

oh, and in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Connery was only 12 years older than his "son," Harrison Ford. Posted by: ace at March 11, 2020 03:38 PM (PbpT7) At one point, someone observed that there was a character problem with Henry Jones Sr banging Alison Doody, namely that he wouldn't have. The response was, no, Henry Jones wouldn't, but Sean Connery would have banged her to within an inch of her life. Posted by: IllTemperedCur at March 11, 2020 04:13 PM (EGyGV) 596
moore was closer to james bonds actually age, he was born in 1927, bond was supposed born in 1920 or 1921, that would have 54 by the time of his first outing in live and let die

If you combine hand sanitizer with tp, you can protect your butthole from harmful germs. Maybe learn to pick things up that way. Perhaps humanity will evolve prehensile assholes. The possibilities are mind boggling.

Ah my favourite WW 11 ace "JIGGLES RETURNS"..jolly good pair of bristols on that Camel.
He was semi OK on SNL but then that show has sunk too, Jost & Che are beyond anti Trumpers, they are boringly unfunny,i record it and spin thru the whole hour and a half in 15 minutes....soon to ignore. Posted by: saf at March 11, 2020 04:51 PM (5IHGB) 601
Ace, I like the entertainment type posts scattered through the day. They shed light on the current zeitgeist and they are a break from the heavy political posts that frequently cause me to reach for the Rolaids.

Jumping down to comment on Thunderball: the most expensive thing about the movie was the separating yacht, and when the bad guy jettisoned the hull, it was amazing, because you had never seen anything like that before.
That's what James Bond was about: thrills and stunts you had never seen before and exotic sights 1000 times better than your boring life. And crushing a car with a man inside. Unpopular opinion: I rather like Picard and posit that TNG was actually much more woke. Brannon Braga is a Hollywood baby who couldn't for the life of him understand all that Navy stuff Roddenberry based his show on. Kirk was supposed to be the stereotypical frigate captain, the aggressive go-getters. Picard was supposed to be the stereotypical carrier captain, wiser, more seasoned, but knew when to bust the balls when he had to. Braga turned him into a stale "grandpa" figure whom my entire family found to be boring as hell. That and he kept forcing weird proto-woke crap into a lot of episodes. I grew up on that show but even the nostalgia glasses can't keep me from admitting that TNG was largely garbage with a few good episodes and characters in it.
So I wasn't even interested in Picard until I was informed that he was turned into a character with some actual depth. Gotta admit they weren't wrong, and if there was any woke shit in it, I must have missed it. Posted by: Saber Alter at March 11, 2020 08:48 PM (Yd+10) 609
You know what else Brie Larson does in that Kimmel monologue? Between 0:37 and 0:53, she makes a tranny joke! That, uh, might not play too well in the circles where she likes to run.
