Let Me Google That For You, Blue-Check "Journalist" Genius

This Pubic Intellectual claims, Without Evidence, to be a "WH Reporter."

Let's fact-check that.

urinalism

Speaking of Google:

I like this rant about the Corporate Justice Warriors who are way overepresented in conservative circles because they have donors paying them to peddle corporatist propaganda:

Remember, all True Conservatives fight passionately for the right of mega-monopolies' right to deprive conservatives of their rights.

Apparently we should also fight for Al Qaeda's right to buy explosives and send them across borders to kill us. To try to stop this would be compromising our free market religious maniac values.

"The Constitution is not a suicide pact," they say, but apparently free market zealotry is.

I was fascinated by it because the "shows" would get literally 400 views per "show."

And the show was just so AWFUL. And everyone on it was so incompetent, and stuttering, and uncharismatic.

106 4 How much do journalists get paid on average? I'm thinking it's gotta be on the low side.
Posted by: kathysaysso

It depends. There's HUGE array of pay-levels, from pitiful to mind-boggling.

Local non=political journalists, and part-timers, and freelancers, get absolute peanuts.

The quickly-diminishing-to-zero demographic of middle-of-the-road middle-class journalists at mid-sized newspapers get mid-range salaries, but this entire category of job is now almost extinct.

And then there are the people who have landed jobs at the handful of Big Major Player outlets, and they generally get wildly overpaid. Six-figures plus, even for drone work.

TV gigs even more astronomically paid.

And at the top of the heap are the whores at Fake News outlets funded by leftist billionaires, who rake it in by the wagonload to parrot their masters' propaganda.

When I was regularly blogging I was happy whenever I had an increase in readership, it grew up to around 500 a day which when I started was unthinkable. Back when there was this scale of blog success, I'd reached the top third of the list.

But every new milepost I reached, I soon became dissatisfied with and felt I was failing because I could have more. I got spikes of several thousand readers a day, which is nothing to sneeze at, but I mean... Ace gets that from an open thread on a Sunday night.

As a result, no competitor every comes close to challenging them and forcing them to change their discriminatory behavior.

173 My anecdote on N95 availability - can't order from Amazon unless you want to pay flipper prices. Probably the same on Ebay, didn't look. All local Home Depots and Harbor Freights have zero on the shelves and none to ship. I popped into one store with limited availability to find they actually had none. They were telling a Chinese family as I arrived at the aisle.

I live in L.A. County, near a Chinese-Chinese enclave. That's to say, it's full of mainland Chinese who smuggled out their wealth and bought property here in the last 10 years. Their children may be Chinese-American, but the elders are definitely not. All of the local N95 stock has been bought up and likely shipped back home. Fortunately I have some for work around the house but it's unsettling to see that you actually can't get the masks if you want to. At least not here. Just my anecdote.

I don't mind conspicuous displays of faith, as long as they are genuine, and who am I to know the heart of someone who does so? You can sometimes tell, like the pharisee beating his breast and thanking God he's not like that sinner in public but usually you have to take people at face value.

I'm not into that kind of thing but it wouldn't matter if I was. Nobody would see me anyway, except my brothers.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at February 26, 2020 06:37 PM (KZzsI)

197 The "there can be only one" mentality/reality has made certain BigNames dominant via Go-Go stock mentality of our "markets". All Americans now "invest" savings mostly blindly, into the hottest stocks via their mutual funds. A few get so big (trillion dollar companies now) that they can buy all competition, (the way Bloomberg said he bought the /house of Reps).

Yes this IS capitalism, and it is why we are NOT a Capitalist Government. Government protects the individual rights FROM totalitarianism, whether that is commie/socialist control freaks OR corporate control freaks that buy up our government on the cheap.

The fundamental job of our Republic is to protect us FROM the bullies, even if they use the corporation ("capitalism") to exert their subversive policies. We don't have a "capitalist government" (except to the extent we have been using monetary policy to enrich the richest, failing to protect the American Worker from those building monopolies, using foreign slaves to do it)

You can file a class action civil suit. And, believe me, there are many many many small start ups that got stomped by the big guys. Finding plaintiffs wouldn't be a problem. But, someone has to organize... Personally, I think this is the kind of stuff Mark Levine should take on. His Landmark Legal (of which I'm not sure he is affiliated with anymore) was set up for stuff like this.

Conceivably, we're talking damages in the billions if you get enough plaintiffs to sign on.

231 The attitude of the press is everything Trump does is a fouled up mess. Even when...it obviously isn't.

I heard someone in the press ranting on how Trump had praised Modi in India. They went on to explain that Modi has enacted polices, just like Trump, that targets Muslims.

Um. Yeah. or he was just saying nice things about his host, in a foreign country. because doing otherwise would be a dick move. And maybe, in private, he had a few different things to say. And by the way, India is a democracy, and Modi is their democratically elected leader. And what Modi was doing and what trump did were totally different things. Modi passed a law saying people (Christians, Hindus, Jews, etc.) could become Indian citizens if they entered India due to religious persecution in adjoining Muslim countries. Naturally Muslims are exempt from that rule - they can't claim religious persecution in majority Muslim countries.

I am always short of breath. People look at me in the stores because my breathing is so loud. But it doesn't mean my O2 levels are low. I've checked them enough now that I can tell if they are down in the 80s or 70s. I used it to check my husband's O2 levels too. It's a cheap tool, just like the ones tge doctor uses.

253 Conservative Lutherans fence their table. If you are a confirmed member of their church, you get to partake. If not, no, more than likely, although the pastor can decide to let you partake after a discussion, to see if you believe what they believe. They take it seriously, and that's just fine.

Brian Stelter@brianstelter
Since the dawn of the Trump era, countless experts have warned that the president's lack of credibility would imperil the country in the event of an emergency.

As the coronavirus outbreak worsens, those fears may be coming true...

Why can't they be regulated as common carriers? UPS can't refuse conservative mail.

Does Youtube get paid by the people who post there? No payment, i.e. no consideration, is how they get away with it. The service is a gift and the terms of service are not a contract.

268 'Close' communion was the thing in the LCMS when we were members. It's been a few years, though. Has that changed?

It was not the Missouri Synod church we attended.

Not sure why anyone would make it a thing.

Posted by: not so at February 26, 2020 06:57 PM (HALdu)

271 Well, because the LCMS takes communion seriously, that's why. Kinda like the Catholics, and some other groups.

Fortunately, there are all sorts of Lutherans, and you can find pretty much anything to suit you, from hard-core to Episcopalian-like.

ELCA and the Episcopalians trade pulpits frequently.

That's exactly what happened to me. The pastor took me aside, literally before service started, and asked some questions.

We were in complete agreement. And then I was denied.

274 I don't understand the apparent animosity about Catholics with ashes on Ash Wednesday; Orthodox Jews wear tzitzit and nobody loses their minds.

It's a religious tradition that reminds us to repent. It's not 'ooh I"m holy, look at meee." It's 'I am a sinner who got a big reminder that Christ died for my sins."

read for detail. There was not any animosity directed at Catholics, there was animosity directed at some that seem tv folks that seem to be using ashes. See the difference?
