1 Good Morning Morons today is Saturday, February 15, 2020. On this date in 1992 serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer was sentenced in Milwaukee to life in prison. He was later beaten to death in prison by another inmate.

23 I LIKE beating dead horses, especially when they try to get back up. Case in point:

Jonah (The Content Stealin' Whale-Ass) Goldberg, writing in the NY Post, has this to say in a current column:

Democrats' 2020 race turned tragic because they can't face the truth about 2016

Here's some extra content you can borrow freely, Jonah --"Physician, heal thyself." It's from The Bible. Luke 4:23. In Latin, it's "Medice, cura te ipsum." Or maybe this line, from Doc Holliday in Tombstone --

"Apparently, my hypocrisy knows no bounds."

Finally, my favorite -- "Jonah, go eat a bag of dicks."

You can credit me with this one, but to be honest, I ain't the first to say it, nor the last.

Hey kids...you want single payer healthcare?

This is what you really want.

You want to surrender and lose your choice in healthcare.

Hey kids, you want free cell phone service for all?

You want to surrender your ability to chose your own make and model of phone.

Hey Kids, you want guaranteed access to housing and food for all?

You want to surrender your right to chose what type of housing that you personally can have.

And the government will decide what you are having at the community cafeteria for dinner tonight.

87 P Krugman
Hes basically what Europeans would call a social democrat and social democracies like Denmark are, in fact, quite nice places to live, with societies that are, if anything, freer than our own.

Denmark

Gun Rights
the right to private gun ownership is not guaranteed by law

Freedom of Speech
Hate speech laws are both national and by region

Police State
Denmark is not bound by Directive 2012/13/EU on the right to information in criminal proceedings, as it has opted out of implementation of certain EU measures relating to justice and home affairs.

I did this in 5 minutes. Krugman is fucking liar.

98 Lol. Trump is definitely not as good as elected, and this week he showed why. He has a substantial lack of self control and his 2 am Twitter rants are going to eat at his support around the edges. Not to mention dick stomping departments like the DoJ. Bloomberg is going to buy this race and hide as the "moderate". He isn't, really, but that fact, and the all the good work that Trump has done will get lost in Twitter insults.

It's a long way between now and November. Plenty of time for Trump to shoot himself in the foot and get some good fratricide going.

AT BEST - Barr went in assuming everything was good and proper but willing/directed to take a look at what he may have heard just a bit about with 1% being covered in the MSM (Trump tweets "Witch Hunt", disparagement of the DoJ, Tweeting must stop!).

At best he really believes that fuck ups like Ruby Ridge are very rare outliers that will occur very rarely in any organization.

At best he said 'spying' and looking at the predicate (or whatever) to sound like he marches to the beat of a different drummer, his own man.

At best, feet of clay and confirmation bias has prevented him from doing much more than act the tough guy when not blowing on the bag pipe.

At best, he's finally getting a grasp on how politically fuc*ing corrupt his beloved DoJ and FBI has become.

Because he did not believe it possible.

131 Hi everyone. Can I be super bitchy for just a moment here? I can? Oh, thank you.

So, my dad is still in the hospital (three weeks today). He had to start dialysis, and last week, he had a pneumothorax (collapsed lung). He had a procedure for the pneumothorax on Thursday, during which they took a few swabs/samples from inside his lungs. Last night, the infectious diseases doctor told us they think he has mold growing in his lungs. So he has to start taking a new drug which has horrible side effects including kidney and liver damage (see above in re: already on dialysis). This whole situation is just complete bullshit, and my dad has never done a single thing to deserve any of this (unlike me, who as I'm about to demonstrate am extremely bitchy).

My aunt was texting updates to me and my sister as she learned them last night. I texted my sister separately, "Sometimes I wish I drank". She replied that she was "livid". I thought that was odd, but I figured she was upset that this shit keeps happening to Dad. She added that she didn't know what to do. Then she said that her husband was "infuriated"...because he had had "plans galore" for the evening and they felt they had to cancel them.

I told her (nicely) that it wasn't like the situation was going to change in the next few hours, and there wasn't anything any of us could do anyway, so they might as well keep their plans. But no, everything was canceled and they were Just Waiting.

She has also told me that they have a trip planned for next week that she is afraid she'll have to cancel, whereupon they'll be out $1500 (this is not a lot of money to them. Also, they go on multiple trips a year). But indeed, what price can you put on the opportunity to play Early Christian Martyr?

Well, got to get showered and head up to the hospital to relieve Mom. See y'all later.

138 The GOP has conducted focus groups in key states with swing voters. Despite the fact Trump gets extremely high numbers on the economy the superfluous nonsense on Twitter drags him down. The desire by that key group of voters is that he focuses more on further improvements to the economy and less on the Twitter distractions he's creating. Stone is a perfect example. He has plenty of surrogates to do that crap. He's once again sucked the air out of the room and undermined the AG who gets high marks with a fair amount of the electorate. It's another self inflicted wound. The GOP is now working to offset this with things like the upcoming middle class tax cut they are starting to unveil, etc.

Nobody is saying don't Tweet. It's a great tool for him and gets his message out. What people in the campaign are saying is be more discriminating and let his supporters handle the other stuff. Put the president above the fray and help him look more presidential.

Some of the opposition campaigns like Bloomberg, with their unlimited money have already figured out this is a weakness and they're attacking it. You need to have a counter strategy to address that.

That is my only point.

153 Mrs. Peel,

It's very stressful to have a beloved dad so sick in the hospital; It's exhausting and it also often tends to cause friction in families because everybody gets exhausted, their emotions are on the surface and they tend to say whatever comes to mind.

Your dad sounds like a very fine , good man. God is not causing him to be ill. It's a c****y part of life in a fallen world. In a book called "Disappointment with God" Phillip Yancey talks to a man who has had almost every conceivable thing go wrong, but when Yancey says "How can you maintain your faith his response is "I try not o confuse God with life," Keep talking to God; God can handle the bitching (By the way, your post didn't sound bitchy; Just normal fatigue, worry and stress). 158 So, my dad is still in the hospital (three weeks
today). He had to start dialysis, and last week, he had a pneumothorax
(collapsed lung). He had a procedure for the pneumothorax on Thursday,
during which they took a few swabs/samples from inside his lungs. Last
night, the infectious diseases doctor told us they think he has mold
growing in his lungs. So he has to start taking a new drug which has
horrible side effects including kidney and liver damage (see above in
re: already on dialysis).

I get the desire for judicial punishment, but at the same time the real goal is to cleanse the institution and restore it to some level of lawful behavior.

His options are limited. He can't fire the entire department or even launch a major purge of career civil servants.

So he does what he can.

As annoying as it is to see McCabe and Page preening on Twitter, better to have them there than running the Justice Dept.

I view this as a brilliant move by Bill "Deep State" Barr, because it will allow him to
a) restart every critical investigation,
b) all the perps have been schooled on the key points of their cases and have had time to backstop their alibis,
c) all the original Establishment lawyers have been reassigned and lost their notes in tragic boating accidents, and
d) the Statute of Limitations clock keeps running without a reset.

Right.

So Barr will set there at his desk, with a stack of folders and vet every single DoJ employee.

And he'll write some up, who will then appeal to the Merit Protection Board, who will find in that person's favor. And then Barr will personally shepherd the appeal through HR.

Or he can focus his energies where they will be most useful. Micro-managing the DC office is a waste of his time. Did no one see his major initiative to crack down on sanctuary cities??? The new tools they are using?

This is huge. Let Andy McCabe prance on CNN and write tell-all books for the rest of a long and prosperous life. I'm not going to tie my guts in knot for every crook who skates.

Even more depressing and fundamental was a conversation I heard yesterday between Joe DiGenova and Larry O'Connor (Steyn has made similar comments).
The bottom line is that the entire jury pool in DC (and I think by extension NoVA and much of MD) is known to be so tainted by progressives that prosecutors don't want to bother taking case to court that gives them a minimal chance (at best) to win conviction. It is so bad that defense attorneys tell innocent parties to accept a plea deal because they will get screwed over if they go to trial (GEN Flynn?)

Andy McCabe gets indicted or sanctuary cities get shut down.

You can't have both.

Either Barr micro-manages the DC office, personally vetting and making decisions over every career prosecutor who works to thwart his goals, or he shifts the nationwide policy of law enforcement.

You know who was good with details? Jimmy Carter. Guy had an eye for the little stuff. Nothing in the White House escaped his notice.

It's an either/or people. You either have Barr sitting at his desk, asking for daily updates on the DC personnel situation or he spends his time setting the table for broad, nation-wide policies.

Blonde Morticia, if you truly found it interesting I can point you to where it comes from.

Cyanide, who knew what I was referring to and who also says enough pro Trump stuff to earn "street cred" with some here, immediately jumped to attack.
Just like his msm cohorts.

I can't do links but if you put Trump Air Q in the utube search box it should come up.
And there are a few times he's done it but utube, being who they are, try to bury them.

If it peaks your interest I'll be happy to point you further.

Oh BS. That's what delegation of authority is all about. You set the goal, define the strategy, give the officers and the troops the weapons and support they need and see to it that the mission gets done.

In case you didn't realize this my friend, you can delegate authority but not responsibility.

229 I'm thinking that when all is said and done, a booming economy and bringing peace by land and sea will matter more than whether Andy McCabe gets indicted for a process crime.
Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at February 15, 2020 08:20 AM (cfSRQ)

Lying multiple times to federal agents is "a process crime"? Would you be treated similarly if you lied as he did?

And it just isn't about McCabe.

I don't have great answers to your serious questions. Only trying to gauge the reactions to the accretions of injustice and absence of prosecutions. Take a look at the reactions at The Conservative Treehouse, a bastion of diehard Trump support. People are extremely frustrated, the mood often tipping from anger into a sort of exasperated cynicism.

It's a political barometer reading that Trump must keep in mind.

232 It has been over 2 years to reach this point since Flynn was indicted.
Wouldn't charging McCabe with false statements set a process in motion that would only hold back the more serious charges of helping plot a coup?
I mean, wouldn't he be in court for false statements and we have to wait until that concludes to put him on trial for the much more serious stuff?

What part of the swamp don't you understand????

Barr is delegating things - and the people are openly disobeying him!

There are no loyalists in DC for him to count on.

All you people saying McCabe should be indicted and prosecuted...okay, fine.

Who will actually run the case? Which lawyers will be the ones in charge?

Hmmm, I'm thinking its the same ones trying to thwart everything Barr does.

Anyone remember how DoJ let Sen. Menendez go by completely botching the trial?

Weird. It was an epic fail and guess what? Double jeopardy! Can't try him again. Free as a bird.

But yes, let's use the tainted lawyer pool and the tainted jury pool and this time fer sure it will work.

Or...

Spend the weight of effort on the less-tainted field offices to get serious immigration enforcement going. It's interesting that Barr is bringing in St. Louis people. That shows just how bad DC's personnel situation is.

Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at February 15, 2020 08:35 AM (cfSRQ)

244 I recall a draft position paper by prosecutors on Hillary Clinton and Whitewater, where the prosecutors determined that they only had a 10% chance of getting a conviction on her as sitting First Lady.

Thus, they decided not to issue indictments.

Now, you may agree that it would be a waste of government resources to have pursued these charges (most of the charged defendants pleaded guilty), but

Rule of law took a major lick there. And she ultimately ran for preezy, and held high gubmint offices.

The Smart Thing is not always the right thing.

Posted by: GnuBreed at February 15, 2020 08:35 AM (Jdw1U)

245 234>> Oh FFS... Seriously? Just 'cause most folks don't agree with you doesn't mean it's all doom. That's a pathetic response.

To be fair, they've been prosecuting Flynn for years on a process crime because he is so devious and won't play ball and they need to disencourager les autres.

But they do know how to administer justice quickly, see the recent leaker that very quickly got about two months for his process crime, and Stone's sentence of 9 years was conducted very efficiently (aided by a pre-dawn raid on a 70+ year old man with an invalid wife)!

Everybody keeps saying this. Upon Trump's reelection, these giant bureaucracies must be moved to various parts of flyover country. It will never be possible to prosecute any misdoings and stark illegalities of swamp creatures in the vicinity of D.C. The jury pools are as stacked as the bureaucracies themselves. It's a dire situation when it comes to true rule of law and justice of those actually guilty.

252 There are two ways to protect an institution: clean out the bad actors and reform it so it is healthy, or sweep the dirt under the rug and pretend, which keeps it sick.

If you love your kid, you take him to the doctor when he's sick, you don't pat him on the head and say "We love our prosecutors."

Barr says he doesn't know why the four prosecutors quit. They quit because they are running another Lawfare Black Op on you and the President, Gramps. If he really doesn't understand that, he's not smart enough to be Attorney General.

Barr seems like a grandfather in denial that his drug addict-grandkids stole all his credit cards. They're hooked on the TDS, Bob. Wake up.

253 152 RE: McCabe. OK, I get that they have discretion and the FBI did fire him. I suspect that not prosecuting him was done more to protect the FBI from the embarrassment of a trial.

Also, we see Barr all but stating the prosecution team for the Stone conviction lied about their sentencing strategy and yet they were allowed to slink off in some fake resignation theater instead of being shit canned.

I think Barr is all about protecting the institution.
