The Morning Report - 2/13/20

coonrudo.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and up front, there's a group of stories that taken together beg the question, what the hell happened to Virginia? Whether it's the proximity to DC or thousands of Leftist bureaucratic cogs in the Big Government machine fleeing the madness they wrought and bringing the infection of their voting habits with them (like locusts as Great One Mark Levin coined it) into formerly solid red counties, a steady influx of illegal aliens, a feckless and hapless GOP that would rather kneecap conservatives than fight to preserve political sanity, or a perfect storm of all the above, it's quite evident that the damage has been done. And the prospects for reversal are seriously in doubt.

Within a heartbeat of taking over the state's legislature lock, stock and barrel, the Democrats led by their sickening, repulsive governor, Ralph Northam, AKA Jolson McKlanrobes, rammed through legislation that amounts to actual post-natal infanticide, as well as anti-Constitutional laws that surpass even places like New York and California that move to forcibly strip citizens of their firearms. Despite the heartening pushback by thousands of Virginians in a peaceful, orderly protest in Richmond, it of course fell upon deaf ears since after a brief pause to let tempers blow over and the media disappear, they moved ahead and passed the legislation anyway.

But wait! There's more! Emboldened by these victories, or perhaps fearing a backlash this November and beyond, the gauleiters in the Richmond Reichstag have now passed legislation giving illegal aliens driver licenses, which of course translates into Democrat voter registration, as well as passed another sure-to-be-challenged-in-court bill awarding their electoral votes to whoever wins the popular vote in a national presidential election. That may backfire on them this year but that's another story. Capping it all off was a truly disgusting display when the Democrats attempted to muzzle and ultimately walked out en masse when a black pastor had the gall to trample on their sensibilities by delivering a sermon that rightly denounced legalized baby-killing and the defiling of the sacred institution of marriage.

From the last link, our friend and intrepid science reporter Bob Zimmerman warns us about what's happened in Virginia is being attempted in Arizona, and across the nation:

... Most of the discussion about this story has been focused on the opposition to the laws themselves. I want to focus on what it tells us about the modern Democratic Party. You see, these fascist actions - which do nothing to reduce violence or crime while making law-abiding citizens criminals - are being planned by practically every local Democratic Party operation across the nation. All they require to make them law is to obtain power, as they have in Virginia... Give these Democrats a single legislative session where they run the show, and they are now telling us what they plan to do.

Nor is this an outlier. We've seen similar odious laws passed in New York, California, Maryland, and in practically every state where the Democrats run the government. They are blatant about what they want to do. No one should have any doubts about it.

More important, they are giving us a clear warning about their long-term plans. They not only want to deny ordinary citizens the right to defend themselves, they have made it clear they have utter contempt for those citizens, and will move to destroy all their freedoms if given the chance. Like the socialists in Venezuela, as soon as they have power they will use it to shut down all opposition, ending any semblance of democracy and freedom...

There's coronavirus and then there's coronavirus. In Steve Malanga's article "Calculating the Californication" from City Journal, he had a rather optimistic view that Californians fleeing what is rapidly devolving into Zimbabwe on the Pacific might understand what they are fleeing from and not bringing their politics with them (or that it's mostly non-Leftists that are fleeing in droves). I certainly hope that that is the case since if what happened to Virginia ever happens to the red states they flee to, especially Texas, then it's lights out America, regardless of who wins subsequent national elections.

But the question remains, whither Virginia? With the citizenry now fully aware (at least they should be) that the Democrat tyrants in office are out to subjugate them, and that a growing number of counties and their law enforcement infrastructure are openly declaring defiance of the gun edicts, sooner or later there is going to be a showdown. Already, there is serious talk about many counties splitting off and joining West Virginia. Better yet, they should just secede and declare statehood. That might even have a ripple effect with places like New York City, DC that, in turn, could be countered by one or more rural California counties. Ugh.

Whatever may happen, it is clear in Virginia and in the rest of the nation, what cannot go on will not go on. At least it shouldn't.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

38 this is from a real email from the Biden campaign yesterday:

I'm about to ask you for a donation of $5, but first, I'm going to give you my word. My father used to say your word is your bond -- and I'm giving you my word as a Biden:

No one should count this team out. We're looking ahead to the next contests, and I'm not going anywhere.

Folks have been trying to write this campaign off from the moment I entered the race. But last night, I went right to work in South Carolina talking to voters.

I give you my word as a Biden that this campaign is in a position to win this race and heal this country, but I need help from you to show that we're strong as ever.

Please, I'm asking, can you chip in $5 to help me finish what we started?

40 Virginia is over. Part of the problem is that, mentioned above, that other red or formerly red states face. But we have an added problem we share with Maryland. We have the bedroom community for the deep state. And that's independent of carpetbaggers and illegal aliens. They vote for themselves, natch.

A friend, who lives in the belly of the beast, suggested that, if done right, DC statehood would work. The trick would be including Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax in VA, and Pr George and Montgomery in MD. That would give them two commie senators, but it would give us - he thinks - four. I'm not convinced; more likely 2 commies, 2 RINOs, 1 "moderate" Democrat, and maybe, just maybe, one real conservative. Still it was interesting to hear it from someone who admitted he'd be stuck in the Peoples' Republic of Columbia.

45 what the hell happened to Virginia?
----

America started as a covenant nation dedicated to God's values with participation in government limited to those who made productive use of their time and thus demonstrated an inclination to freedom (doing what the Creator put them here to do).

Then we decided everyone who just happens to be here should get to vote because muh feels, and unpredictably people who don't care in the slightest about living free (free from government in particular), and just want to be taken care of, voted consistently for those that promised to take care of them if they just give up any concern for their rights from and obligations to the Creator and His morality.
They will claim it's still America, because that's the name on the map and hey, the Constitution is around somewhere in a box, but much like the Ark in Jeremiah's day, it's in the back of the temple behind the idols and prostitutes.

46 It seems clear that the uniparty, having failed to remove Trump, hopes that a byproduct of impeachment will be to force Trump to shut up. They realize what weapons his tweets and free-form comments are. They want to stifle them by casting a net of self-consciousness over him, i.e., the threat of an operative, movable Sword-of-Damocles over every public utterance. It won't work.

Lefty states become uninhabitable, so the Lefties move to a stable state - a red state that is run well, so it's safe, good for business, etc.

Conservative states, as already said, are stable, safe, good for business, so there would be no need to move to a Lefty state voluntarily. Other factors, such as family, work can force a move, but otherwise there's just no reason to.

Seriously though, thanks for that link J.J. (hadn't heard that news yet). I know counties in Arizona (including mine up north) have been declaring themselves "2nd Amendment Sanctuaries" (although there's some reluctance to use the term "sanctuary" as it connotes the opposite vis-a-vis illegal aliens).

But owing to past illegal immigration and increasing "domestic immigration" from California, the AZ legislature is becoming more totalitarian/insanse -- and our Governor is pretty much a RINO. Rough seas ahead ... from my hot, dead hands.

83 A thought about how Bernie and Trump are categorically different, and not similar, and will have very different levels of appeal in the general election:

Supreme Court nominee lists.

When Trump was running and needed to convince the world that he was going to president as a conservative, he released that list of 20 names, and conservatives were pretty happy with it. Was it because we saw 20 names that were going to run roughshod over people? No, it's because they were going to read the Constitution like a majority of the country wants it to be read: as it's written.

What would Sanders' list look like? Would he moderate it with judges that at least pay lip service to original intent or meaning? No, he'd populate it with the most radical of radicals. People with long histories of saying things like, "We need to eliminate churches," "We need to force children to get abortions without telling their parents," and "We need to let anyone who sets foot on American soil vote in our elections."

This would tickle the far left, but it would terrify the center left and repel everyone else.

Everything about a Sanders nomination spells a future where Democrats appeal to the fringiest of the fringe.

The iron is that Democrats thought that was what Trump was doing in 2016. How could anyone support strong border security and putting America first? Well, it's what politicians of every party had largely been doing from the founding to about ten years before.

They're advertising to dudes with " hey dummy jewelry is nice and simple and ready made for you to just slap down some cash and give her the gift." And you're not going to get them to go to your store if you advertise with Dillon getting Blane a new bracelet.

The Newark Airport camp is at Fort Dix/AFB McGuire, which is an hour drive south of Newark Airport. That's not "next" to the airport. Instead of Fort Dix the Feds should establish the camp at the Budweiser brewery, which is next to the airport. There is a convenient hotel right there and the healthier people would appreciate the free beer.

Of course, the Fort Dix idea has a couple of positives too, namely a decent golf course and several skeet and trap ranges. No free beer, though, as far as I know.

That much is as obvious as Joe Biden's diminished mental capacity. States that want to hand them out like candy should be forced to issue a non-citizen driver's license then. 213 I actually read almost all the articles this morning, good collection as usual. Finished up with the Carbon Capture article last. Since I've been following and a part of the Climate Wars for over a decade now, let me cut to the chase and lay out what this is REALLY about.

It's obvious to any rational thinker that the Climate Change/Global Warming movement is a massive fraud designed to a) instill Marxist economic policies through a back door, and b) enable massive graft on a society wide scale.

Those opposing this have split into two camps - the Science first crowd, which says simply that this is all bullshit and should be treated as bullshit, and the Lukewarmers who say "well, maybe they're a little bit right but we can mitigate it by massive programs of our own." This second group is very popular among politicians because they don't have to take a hard stand, and it still allows them to buy off a bunch of support with massive payoff programs of their own. Kevin McCarthy of Cal. and Matt Gaetz of Florida are two GOP House members who are part of the Lukewarmer/Let the Graft Flow caucus inside the GOP.

so that's what the proposal is really all about. The idea that is has anything at all to do with "climate" is so utterly nonsensical that it's not even worth discussing.

It also leads me to believe that no matter what other good things they do, McCarthy and Gaetz are not worthy to hold any high leadership positions in a reformed GOP. They are both deeply corrupt, even if they do say nice things.

Motor Voter was one of the great "compromises" the "moderates" like to brag about and wish we could go back to.

Republicans agreed to let Democrats sign up voters at the DMV, and in exchange, Democrats were supposed to purge the voter rolls of dead people and people who had moved out of state.

Democrats got their part of the deal, and have been suing ever since to stop Republicans from getting the voter rolls purged.

Agreed - bankruptcy affects what damages may be recovered, although it doesn't negate them, it just shifts the payment of the award over to a Bankruptcy Judge. John Kelly said that Vindman is blameless and was simply following his training as a soldier; migrants are "overwhelmingly good people"; and Trump's decision to condition military aid to Ukraine on an probe into Joe Biden upended long-standing U.S. policy.
Posted by: Tami at February 13, 2020 09:02 AM (cF8AT)

John Kelly was always a piece of shit, although for a time he was a useless piece of shit. Remember the drive to run Scott Pruitt, Trump's first EPA director, out of Washington? (It succeeded) That wasn't done by the left, that entire campaign was orchestrated by Kelly, who thought that Pruitt wasn't "sufficiently deferential" to him. I was extremely glad when Trump finally dumped him.

All 3 of the famous Generals that Trump hired were arrogant and disloyal. Trump thought he could trust the military brass, they were the proof that Military brass is just as noxious as the rest of the Deep State.

315 Thanks for the info about the region around Limestone! we're excited to visit.

a lot of the schools we're looking at are small and kind of remote. since "home" is in a very busy place outside of a big city, we all feel great about the kids being in a quieter locale for college. they can come home and go clubbing on breaks lol

at school they can STUDY

also we went to an urban campus in west philly, and we both had big runins with crime and that was then. it's not better now. so we'd like to feel that they will be safe. So looking at High Point (have contacts with alums that speak highly of HPU), Colgate, Bucknell, that sort of thing. The admissions people always ask "um, are you ok with being sort of out there...?"

I guess a lot of kids aren't ok with that, but mine ARE

I recently read an article about that very thing. Can't remember where though. But the gist is a person could have surgically implanted "stilts" that would give them up to 6 or 8 inches of additional height.

326 You don't have tyrannies of a majority such as those in New York and Virginia unless the citizens allow it- and they have. There are a lot of feckless citizens who with their apathy, foolishness or outright contempt for their neighbors are responsible for it. The GOP sucks at organizing GOTV until it's too late and their lazy voters who don't interrupt their lives to exercise this responsibility don't help. That puts us constantly on defense, which is never a good place to be.

341 "Is the Market to Blame for the Plight of the Working Class?"

good question and good article ... BUT it is hard to fathom the impact of a couple things not mentioned (or I missed it). WW2 left us as the last industrial power man standing ... and second, the pattern of EasyMoney that started long ago as we went Fiat Currency.

Tied in there is corruptionn of DC and the centralized powers that be, using our government to centralize monetary power to underwrite/subsidize gamblers in the markets, which encouraged ever more gambling and leverage. Interest rates went from double digits to negative (actually negative in some places, negative in terms of inflation even in the US).

There is a miracle to the easy money, but it subsidizes the richest, especially when bailouts and our bought government are considered. But here we are ... incredible debt, on the way to MMT. The rural has the same problem ... BigMoney and those in debt buying up the land ... then oligarchs eventually own it all.

226 "motor voter automatic registration"

Motor Voter was one of the great "compromises" the "moderates" like to brag about and wish we could go back to.

Republicans agreed to let Democrats sign up voters at the DMV, and in exchange, Democrats were supposed to purge the voter rolls of dead people and people who had moved out of state.

Democrats got their part of the deal, and have been suing ever since to stop Republicans from getting the voter rolls purged.

And this is how you got Trump.

Sore Loser laws don't cover Federal Elections, because State's have no constitutional ability to regulate who can run in them. Also, primary races are not actual "elections", they are Party organized and controlled events. They are quasi-elections, which is why Political Parties are free to ignore them completely and nominate someone else entirely. Nobody ever gets told that, of course.

439 From a 11/2019 Politico article:

snip~

And that first juror was an only-in-Washington character, a former Obama-era press secretary for the Office of Management and Budget whose husband still works at the Justice Department division that played a role in the Russia probe that ultimately snagged Stone. She acknowledged having negative views of President Donald Trump and said she had followed the media coverage of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Still, the woman said she did not have strong views about Stone, and Jackson denied a request from Stone's lawyers to strike the woman as a potential juror.

440 VA has had a fascist streak for a long time.

Three words: radar detector ban.

No use for the place.

442 "Just imagine how the Far Left is going to react if the DNC tells them they have to vote for 2 ex-Republicans."

Agree - I don't think the extremely high amounts of Trump Derangement Syndrome that the Far Lefties have will overcome their disdain for pulling the lever on a "Plutocrat/Hedge Funder" ticket.

But stranger things have happened.

443 The Antifa types are quite literally the Brownshirts who led to the rise of Hitler's regime,

No. They're not. The Brownshirts were a well organized, well armed, ruthless para-military force. They did not hide their identity. They also had the numbers (thousands in every city) to control cities.

Just one SA battalion could, by the end of the week, kill every Antifa punk in Portland. They would also burn every structure associated with these losers. They would do it out in the open and dare anybody to do anything about it.

Crystal night anyone?

445 Dear Alabama,

When Jeff Sessions recused himself, there was no on who could sign the last FISA renewal. The Deep State tricked President Trump into signing an Executive Order giving that authority to Dana Boente. In essence, the President wiretapped himself.

And all because Jeff Sessions was AWOL. He was not there protecting the President or the presidency.

Jeff Sessions is directly responsible for two years of the Mueller Hoax. That fraud was then used to flip the House in 2018. And that lead directly to the Impeachment Hoax.

All because of Jeff Sessions. Was it purposely malicious or just incompetent dereliction?

Does it matter?

Alabama has many good citizen-patriots. Please find someone besides this person to send to Washington, D.C.. Don't get tricked like the President did.

Sincerely,

It obviously costs something for the technology and the equipment. And that cost always is passed on to the consumer.

Add to the fact that "capturing carbon" especially if it's CO-2 is a crock.

449 "It's idiotic that government spending is included in GDP. The

government did not create that wealth, but removed it from the economy." Posted by: J.J. Sefton

The military Industrial Complex would beg to differ with you.

What is "wealth"? With a fiat currency, the stock market could go up another 100% and not create anything more, it could just be currency manipulation, underwritten by BigGov. And it is becoming common knowledge/belief ... that BigGov is "in the market". That is why the cries to "audit the fed" abound.

The "Nash Equilibrium" seems to keep everyone in "the market", so BigGov is happy to keep that game going. The oligarchs and machine traders extract their unfair share of that "wealth", and the fed is trapped ... they can't break the 35 year trend of lower interest rates (which punishes responsible savers).

I think we have communism by proxy of monetary policy. In a sense, the fed policy and our military have forced everyone into the same Ponzi scheme ... but that does fund a lot of economic activity. Productivity Gains are "redistributed" to the top and bottom, workers still grind out their 40 hour weeks, and their capital is used to underwrite massive GovDebt. TickTock.

Talk of a reset or jubilee ... is whispered in certain circles ... but all this is just "conspiracy theory" .. the new world order will be glorious.

450 Wasn't there something like a good percentage of the races in Virginia for various offices had Democrats run unopposed simply because the VA GOP didn't put up candidates?

Can't win if you don't play. Unless winning to you is throwing the game for the other team.

451 >>I know this question is rhetorical, but for law enforcement, why is not
enforcing federal law in regards to illegals, not any different than not
enforcing any other federal law?

Barr makes this point in the sanctuary city challenges he rolled out this week. In addition, he rightly asserts that by protecting illegal alien criminals from ICE arrest, by under-sentencing them (under 1 year) to prevent triggering their deportation, etc. they are granting privileges to non-citizens not available to citizens.

452 Going right off of that first link to the George Zimmerman piece, listen to this piece by Michael Yon from yesterday, starting at about 4:50. https://tinyurl.com/r5o4zfh

IT. IS. GOLD. And it is exactly why Zimmerman is right about not giving them even ONE legislative session. They are about two things: 1) Getting power - AT ALL COSTS, and; 2) KEEPING power - again, At. ALL. COSTS.

Communism and socialism are both authoritarian systems masquerading as egalitarian systems.

Also, listen to 10:20, same vid - Yon goes into what TRUE poverty looks like.
