The Morning Report - 2/12/20

carvrain.jpg

Good morning, kids. Midweek and the big story this morning is the New Hampshire Democrat Primary where Bernardo Sandersnista took first, with Mayor Peter Puffer in second and Amy Klownbuchar in third. Nowhere to be seen, quite literally was Joe "Go Vote For Someone Else" Biden, who took it on the lam to South Carolina even before the sun went down on the Granite State. Elsewhere, both Andrew "Out-the-Ying" Yang and Michael Bennet threw in the towel and Elizabeth Wan's campaign is barely limping along a trail of tears.

But as you both break down the results and step back to get a broader perspective, there appears to be nothing but disaster ahead for the Democrats both in terms of this election and its future as a political party going forward. First, Bernie barely squeaked out a win and his numbers were actually worse than in 2016. Then again, there are more contenders this time around and a win is a win no matter how you slice it, so in theory that boosts his chances going forward. In theory. In terms of the nomination, the DNC is doing all it can to openly (and more than likely clandestinely) take Sanders out because despite 50 years of brainwashing in the schools and in the media, most Americans are repulsed by Socialism, Socialists and the rhetoric now proudly proclaimed by its leading proponents within the Democrat Party.

But in a national contest, Trump's performance in New Hampshire as an incumbent handily beats Obama's numbers from 2012, to say nothing of a national approval approaching or more than likely above 50%. At that level, and all things being equal, as of this moment Trump is unbeatable no matter who the Democrats field, and especially a bust-out socialist. Well, the Democrats themselves took out Biden with the Sham-peachment fiasco that exposed him and his crooked son as the generational criminals they are, while Biden's combined hair-sniffing, girl-groping, eye-bleeding and brain-damaged mouth probably was the real culprit in his imminent demise.

I suppose they wanted Biden to be the sacrificial lamb to run against Trump, just like Dukakis in '88 and Mondale in '84, so as to theoretically preserve the electability and record of their rising star(s) for future contests. The problem is the Democrats have no one, at least someone who is a phony "moderate" that can effectively fake being sane and pro-American to a majority of voters. The other problem the Democrats have is that too many in their party, both elected officials and their base, are anything but sane and pro-American. Dem Rep and failed prexy candidate Tim Ryan is echoing James Carville's and now commie-pinko Van Jones' cri-de-coeur about Democrats embracing the Socialist cray-cray which could lead them to in his estimation a 48-state wipeout.

Unfortunately, Ryan, Carville and all the rest will never acknowledge that it's more than just the label of "Socialism" that will wipe them out; it's the actual policies behind that moniker that, thank goodness, more and more Americans are being made aware of. For that, they can thank not only President Trump's words but his deeds that have helped more people in more ways improve their lives and prospects than any big government policy or welfare state could ever come close to doing. That, more than anything will doom Bernie, the Midget or anyone else come November. The only way they even have a shot is if they outright reject Green New Deals, no bail or jail for criminals, a disarmed populace, censorship of wrong-think, open borders, infanticide pre- and post-natal, trannies in girls rooms, legalized heroin, national health and everything else they seek to impose on this nation. That is, of course, a non-starter, because what they really seek is absolute power and control. And that leopard is never going to change its spots.

12 Its pretty apparent from last night that a good deal of the Fox analysts, including Chris Wallace and Chris YUK YUK Stirewall love themselves some Sneaky Pete. The only person who loves Sneaky Pete more is Sneaky Pete himself, this knob doesn't need a significant other, he has himself to oil down every night before reading his fawning reviews.

But Sneaky Pete is never going any where, he's loathed by minorities which are the essence of Democrats identity politics - look for this joke to be squashed in Nev and SC and be an also ran by super Tuesday.

Interesting that the best the "Save The DNC From Socialism" crowd could do last night, with no doubt an assist from the NeverTrumpers, was BootyJuice at 24.4% and Amy Who? at 19.8%

In other words, not quite a majority of the vote (44.2%). The out-and-proud commies (Sanders and Lieawatha) secured 35% between them.

All the while, DJT gets over 120K votes in, essentially, an uncontested primary.

I like the chances of flipping NH (-.3% in 2016)

The "conservative" Democrats are all in the GOP now, and have been for at least a decade, showing how "up on things" the leading candidate for "dumbest member of the FNC lineup" is.

That said, it's nothing new that the Donks seem to be split down the middle between out-and-proud commies and "moderate" commies - it's 2016 all over again.

Only thing yet to be determined is what happens when Bernie is denied the nomination, again.

39 "Operation Chaos: South Carolina Republicans Urge Voters to Cast Dem Primary Vote for Bernie"

This has been bugging me all week. Shouldn't they be boosting Biden or Klobuchar? I thought the goal was to help the underdogs gain support so they can drag the primary process out? Supporting Bernie at this point helps him wrap up the nomination earlier, so he can (attempt) to start consolidating the Dems and prepping for the general election.

I'm not 100% sure Bernie would lose against Trump, so I want every disadvantage possible for him if he's the nominee. If we support Bernie because we think he's the weakest candidate, and he wins, it'll have karma/hubris written all over it (like Hillary pushing for Trump in 2016), and the country will be FOOKED

44 RBG puts nail in the ERA coffin? Sounds like it was really the LGBTQ activists, LOL. When are the feminists going to wake up - what more will it take for the majority of them to see the gender stuff erased their niche?

At Georgetown University's Law Center Monday, Supreme Court Justice
Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the manner in which Virginia passed the Equal
Rights Amendment (ERA) is too controversial.

Activists have tried since 1920 to pass the ERA, which adds to the
Constitution that "equality of rights under the law shall not be
abridged . . . on account of sex." The controversy lies in what the intended
and unintended consequences of this bill would be given the gender
identity spectrum in the 21st century, the nation's runaway judiciary,
and that the sexes have differences that matter and sometimes affect
law
.

Think the idea is to make the DNC kneecapping of Bernie more outrageous? The DNC has been openly saying to the MSM anonymously they can't let Bernie win. Speed up the split of the Democrat party.

Also, (should he be allowed to get the nomination) Bernie is so radical, LIVs/independents/Trump averse Dems who are still sane are more likely to pick Trump? It would be much easier to stay on the Democrat side if they nominate a sweet talker like Pet, who pretends to be moderate, not so much if it's Bernie.

76 64 Also, (should he be allowed to get the nomination) Bernie is so radical, LIVs/independents/Trump averse Dems who are still sane are more likely to pick Trump? It would be much easier to stay on the Democrat side if they nominate a sweet talker like Pet, who pretends to be moderate, not so much if it's Bernie.

It may backfire bigly?

78 " Do they ever interview Republican candidates? "

First, welcome to Maryland.

Republicans are very under represented in media coverage, and interviews.

And there is a coordinated effort to dilute the remaining pockets of republican resistance in the voting booths by courting and importing more traditionally Democratic voters into the Counties.

83 I see a couple of scenarios...

1) Bernie gets the nomination, MiniMike runs 3rd party, perhaps with Rmoney as his running mate, splits the left but could actually be beneficial for Democrats down-ballot

2) MiniMike buys the nomination, the Bernie Brats revolt and urge their idol to run on the Green Party ticket or something, which may or may not happen. Chaos on the left at the top of the ballot and probably no benefit to them down-ballot

3) One of the others wins the nomination (BootyJuice or Amy Who? perhaps) after a long and very drawn-out primary process, Bernie once again takes his pay-off and folds, again. About 1/3 of his supporters stay home guaranteeing a loss for POTUS and decimation for the Democrats down-ballot.

There are others, but those come to mind off the top of my head.

140 In a very real way, the 4 who resigned yesterday have the same issue as all of the State Dep't employees who have been trying to take down Trump, and sabotage his decisions from the inside. As I posted yesterday, there have been several articles (I recall one on buzzfeed) from "sources" inside the State Dep't opining that it was "horrible" that Trump had been acquitted because 'Now he's going to feel like he can make Foreign Policy decisions without any interference from the Professionals!"

The entire Deep State is filled with this idea that the President is just a distant figurehead, and that they are HIS boss, he is not theirs. That's why Yovanavitch and Vindmann were outraged that Trump wanted to make his own decisions in Ukraine, that's why dems keep coming up with this weird claim that all DOJ and FBI employees should be completely insulated from any direction or management at all - they believe they are all completely Free Agents, with no oversight whatsoever, unless Nadler and Schiff say there should be some.

In other words they're full of shit and don't want to be confronted with the reality of what they really believe: that it's ok for a mother to kill her child.

Didn't take any of it to the gun range, but I kept it at home and refused to register anything.

It's important to remember that there has not been a single person charged for failing to register their stuff in CT in 10 years even though they had about a 10-15% compliance rate with the new laws and they have a gun registration data base and they know who did and more importantly, who did not register their stuff with the State.

Whoever initially came up with the recommended sentence for stone put that in writing and forwarded it up the chain. It's part of the trial package and is right there for anyone with access to see.

In essence they falsified government records and the Judge knows that and so does AG Barr because they all saw the original sentencing recommendation.

Once it was announced on TV what the "new" sentence was going to be Bar most likely went ballistic and made some quick phone calls to those prosecutors and laid it out for them, either resign or get removed from the case and get fired.

There is still some confusion if they just resigned as prosecutors for this case, or quit their jobs completely. They way I read one of the things is they just resigned from this case.

They most likely coordinated it with the dems in the House for maximum effect.

Democrats and the left don't realize what a huge danger for them these people are - again, I refer to the UK election on Dec 12, which was a great example of what happens when the left finally plays its hand too far, and forgets who its voters are. The Brit Left finally went all out on Stalinism, and pan-Euroism, and pro-Trannyism, and also very pro-immigration, which would wipe out the British working classes even more.

And districts that had voted Labour (leftist) in every election since BEFORE WW2, finally switched their votes and went conservative. There's a certain type of voting block that only makes up it's mind about once every 70 or 80 years, and once they switch, they are gone forever.

322 >>Jack, we are talking about the DOJ. Where things MAY change but haven't yet.

The FBI is part of the DOJ. I was told it was nothing when the senior leadership fo the FBI was fired. So which is it, does firing matter or not? Strzok, Page and McCabe seem to think so since they have been suing, unsuccessfully so far, to get their jobs back.

In government just as in the private sector sometimes the axe doesn't fall immediately. Sometimes people take some time to resign when it becomes clear they will be blackballed forever and sometimes management has to go through proper HR channels before a firing event. We have seen that with the DOJ over and over and over and we all know that it is extremely difficult to fire civil servants so I don't know why people are surprised when it doesn't happen instantaneously.

We are in a different time now. This is post impeachment and Trump has a lot more freedom to act without the constant threat of obstruction charges which is the coup plotters favorite charge.

And if you heard Trump speak yesterday about potential military punishment for Vindman I'd say he's far from out of the woods. They didn't uncover these rogue prosecutors yesterday. It just became a public fight. I suspect we are going to see a whole lot more of this over the next year or so.

Whether those months of fighting for every little slice of progressive crazy will help or hinder their efforts to appeal to the black electorate after Biden's departure from the race are unclear.

and her attempts to attract your attention grow more and more exaggerated, including her body language when talking with you to emphasize every single point.

She's got three weeks til Super Tuesday.

I guess that she put all of her limited resources into New Hampshire, hoping for a good showing.

Now, she has it. Will fundraising spike enough? Will she be able to hire enough people on the ground? Will she be able to compete on Super Tuesday across over a dozen states?

Oh, and that's where Bloomberg's been spending his money already, sucking up the Biden voters out there who have watched Biden collapse from afar.

Yeah, she's one and done.

359 275 Also, regarding VA; isn't there a path to legal challenges before SWAT shows at your door asking for a firearm inventory?
Posted by: Brave Sir Robin at February 12, 2020 08:44 AM (7Fj9P)

So Imma be unpopular and say that the bill, should it become law, does not ban possession of "assault firearms." (That's most "modern sporting rifles" and pistols based on them, as well as the big Desert Eagle)

So there is no request for a firearm inventory.

And - reading the bill - it appears that individual sale/transfer of "assault firearms" is still legal.

And, the bill explicitly says you are okay to purchase out of state so long as it is legal in that state - and since Virginia law allows purchase of long guns in any state bordering VA, you could go to Maryland (yes, Maryland) and purchase an AR-15.

The bill as written is really targeting gun dealers. And I think the definition of "in his inventory" will matter.

If a buyer purchases from an out of state dealer who then ships that to a dealer for transfer, was it in the dealer's inventory? I don't think so. It wouldn't be from a tax standpoint. That would mean shippers have their cargo "in inventory!"

The magazine ban, though, is real.

this is their primary focus right now - retain the House so they can keep tossing barbs at the President and reduce his impact in a second term.

It's their only play. It will fail tho, but don't tell them that.

379 A couple of observations (from my review of the Johns Hopkins tracking page):

1. 98.9% of confirmed coronavirus-19 cases are (still) in mainland China.

2. The daily number of new confirmed cases worldwide expressed as a percentage of existing cases has declined every single day for the past 8 days, now at 4.7%. Had been about 28% at the end of January.

3. Visually, the graph (curve) of total confirmed cases appears to be flattening out. New cases are accruing non-exponentially, and appear to be trending downward over the past week to ten days.

Make of this what you will.

Time will tell if there will be secondary surges in incidence as the virus enters other geographically distinct populations.

Some of this. There are 2 more contests before Super Tuesday - NV on the 22d, and SC on the 29th.

Two more debates, too, one before each of those contests. Supposedly her "debate performance" boosted her in NH. And that boils down to the single act of raising her hand when they asked who had a problem with a Socialist at the top of the Democrat ticket.

Her fundraising will spike with her 3d place showing in NH.

But, as you point out, is it enough to get into the Super Tuesday states? Who knows, we are definitely in uncharted territory. I don't think Bloomberg has left much space to advertise in.

Bloomberg's first appearance in the primaries is Super Tuesday. The rules have not actually been changed to allow him into the debates - that may still happen, but so far, no.

I expect Bernie to win NV. I think if Warren drops out Klobuchar could win SC, which would be a big boost for Super Tuesday.

Excellent question, and I haven't seen it. By implication of the story I read, the DOJ had been told something a long way milder (I assumed in the months not years category from their reaction) and the prosecutors "bullied" their boss into a surprise different filing without informing the higher ups. It looked to be a deliberate political statement, designed to provoke the president and allow them to symbolically resign in protest against his "bullying".

425 413 Some of this.

She has no chance in NV, obviously. That's pure caucus and organization, which she probably doesn't have any of in the state.

SC? I can't imagine it. That's gonna be about who can siphon enough from Biden, and every indication so far has shown that it's Bernie.

If she somehow managed a third place showing in SC (behind a weakened Biden in first and a strengthened Bernie in second), that will help further the narrative that she's a valid prospect to replace Biden as a center-left candidate (cough...BS..cough).

But then Super Tuesday is three days later.

My observation is that Hubei is the only Chinese province where it is out of control and that most of the cases outside china are also Chinese.

The data is suspect, of course, but if it is *qualitatively* accurate then this will blow over the way SARS did.

Dr John Campbell does 2 or 3 reviews of the medical literature a day on youtube. He thinks it will break out as a pandemic eventually. But that is purely in the numbers.

The only way Trump wins NH is if he has a larger same day registration scheme in place that's bigger than the Donks.

Otherwise he's not winning NH.

There were something like 7k same same day registrations in 2016, Hillary won by nearly 4k votes.

502 grammie in PA you register to vote in a party - you choose to be Democrat, Republican or Independent.

I initially registered as a Dem, my family are all Dems but that was a LONG TIME ago when the Ds were not insane.

I just kept it. If you are a Dem voter, you can only vote for the Dem side in a primary - so they check your name on the list and give you the appropriate ballot for your registration.

if you register Indy, you don't get to vote in either primary (except for ballot questions or any other thing that isn't specific to one party)

you can switch registrations of course I just never have

I'll be interested to see where Trump votes came from in NH. If you live in the area then you know that southern NH is largely northern MA. There are a huge number of people who commute from southern NH everyday to escape the high taxes and stupid government in MA.

That was was Warren's base. If Trump is pulling big numbers from there it's pretty significant.
