Super Weekend [KT]

unionjackflag.png

A revolution of independence without a war. Pretty cool.

Good morning! I'm looking forward to a weekend more relaxing than this week has been. Anybody going to watch football, or do you have something more interesting to do?

Steven Hayward has some great stuff in The Week in Pictures: Celebrexit Bonus Edition. Really. Take a look.

Congratulations to Britain for its exit from the European Union yesterday. Next up: the United Nations perhaps? Trump should propose it, just to watch the media . . . what? Lose their mind? How can you lose something already lost? Speaking of lost, how's that whole impeachment thing going? Coronavirus seems to be more popular. Strap in folks and order a double espresso, because we have extra special bonus video content at the end.

Turned out to be a tough week for globalists

A while ago, I ran across a little piece in Politico on Davos and globalists gone wild.

It is this basic human instinct--that hunger to be in the room where it happens, as glorified by the musical Hamilton--that has fueled what is now a large industry of high-level socializing. This includes not just the top corporate, political and media leaders but a vast profession of public relations professionals, who are devoted both to helping instill certain gatherings with an exclusive mystique that makes influential people want to go, but also to writing the speeches and securing the interviews that will make influential people look good once there.

Where is there? Let's make a partial list.

The weekend after Alfalfa is the Super Bowl, which increasingly has become a magnet for high-level corporate socializing. Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon has agreed to be the disc jockey for a Sports Illustrated party at The Fontainebleau hotel in Miami.

A couple weeks later, many of the same corporate and public policy leaders at Davos will be back to Europe for the Munich Security Conference. Then comes the more techy and media-oriented South by Southwest weekend in Austin in March.

In the spring, Washington is again a magnet for corporate leaders at media events like the white-tie-and-tails Gridiron Dinner, and the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, which has ballooned into 72 hours of parties. . .

Maybe those parties are not going to be quite as bubbly as they have been in the past. They were once so confident.

Brexit, Trump impeachment fails, China gradually being isolated ... Something is happening but what?

Follow-up:

Xi Jinping Portraits Replace Catholic Symbols in Churches.

Has the Chinese Communist Party lost the mandate of heaven?

They stayed up late over at Instapundit last night:

Boris Johnson's Brexit Address to the nation, plus Brendan O'Neill.

Is Schumer trying to take Sanders out by agreeing to hold impeachment vote after the Iowa caucuses?

Related: Bernie's chosen surrogate Rashida Tlaib leads crowd in booing Hillary Clinton.

Reports say the U.S. has killed another top al-Qaida leader.

Rand Paul 'splains whistleblower law.

Dreamers scream at Nancy Pelosi.

Elizabeth Warren
questions the legitimacy of the Supreme Court.

What a day it was yesterday.

I'm feeling a little magnanamous right now. I am offering Adam Schiff some advice in this dark time for him. Stop inventing conversations between President Trump and foreign leaders. Stop chasing Jerry Nadler and take some time to learn to squinch. Don't say anything. Just squinch.

Since confidence always come from the eyes it's always going to start with the squinch.

Don't you think Adam Schiff would be great at squinching with some practice?

Hope you have a great weekend.

12 I've been skeptical about the assertion that dumbpeachment is hanging up Dem campaigns. Everything is federalized in the Dem party, everything revolves around Orangemanbad, and I don't think local whistlestop campaigning matters anymore. Just MSM orangemanbad soundbites.

I doubt delaying the vote will have an impact on the caucus in Iowa. And being a caucus, I bet Bernie wins it. His retards are highly motivated. They Feel The Derp, and wil show out in maximum derpforce, likely from a three-state radius.

Related: I'm guessing it goes 52-48 to acquit with Romney as the sole defection. Though I've been paying little attention to dumbpeachment because dumbpeachment is boring and lame, so this could be off-base.

15 I hate the "dreamers". That name made me dislike them more than I normally would. Young illegals who want to stay here are one thing, but putting the stigma of "dream crushing" on those who oppose them and their parents, fills me with loathing for their manipulation.

23 The absurdity of the EU: I think I saw this on Parger U; one week every month, the EU packs up everything in their offices, and moves to Strasbourg Ftance for 1 week. Why? Because France rakes in a bunch of coin. No other reason. And, to change any rule in the EU, they need 100% agreement. So, even if every member nation said, this is BS, France would always veto it. No wonder Britain wanted out.

Horrible thought... eons ago, when I was young and dumb and in the Army, guys would gather in someone's room and watch pron. It seemed like a very dumb idea to me, but what the heck.

More innocent times, and all that.

Anyhoo, I remember seeing this scene with a guy who I think was a famous pron actor, and he seemed to have this schtick, where he claimed the blood would all be going... down there, and it was draining out of his face. He would bug out his eyes, the way Schiff does.

Have I mentioned how much I hate pron movies?

So yeah, Schiff looks like a guy whose face drains of blood, so it can go... somewhere else.

I have Youtube TV. If you record a football game and watch it delayed, the fast foward function is amazing that I can't help but believe the time of the fast foward wasn't done for football. 90% of the time, if you hit the button when the whistle blows, you will jump to when they are getting set at the line of scrimmage. For those times where you came in late, just backup and watch it all. Also, the playback speed of 1.25 Times also is cool. Fast enough that after a couple of minutes it sounds normal. You can blow through a game in a little over an hour.

Young Fergus is such a pussy. St. John's College was established over 500 years ago,* when there was no central heating. It probably only got central heating around the turn of the 20th century. Yet somehow students survived.

*St. John's College is enormously wealthy because it bought some land on the outskirts of London around 1500 or so. That land is now in one of the toniest parts of central London. So ... mucho dinero.

Posted by: CN
____________________

Yeah, but the funny thing about that trip is that after the danger was over, Joseph and Mary and the kids went back home.

They didn't stay in Egypt and demand that the Egyptian taxpayers educate their kids for free, give them free food stamps, subsidized housing, free medical care, in-state tuition rates, and all the rest of it. Nor did they march in the streets and demand that the Egyptians give them citizenship, or else they were raaaaaaacists. They stayed in Egypt for a few years until Herod was dead and the danger was over, and then they returned to their own country.

The "refugees" coming here never leave. So the analogy is still inaccurate, in many different ways.

145 My opinion of Romney is that he wants a Political dynasty, too much talk about a Romney son prior to Hatch's retirement. If he tanks the name too much, he can't pass the seat to one of his sons. So, based on the thoughts of the wise Golda Meir, when mitt loves his son's political wants, more than he hates PT, maybe he'll comply more w the wishes of the Utah voters. However, I think a lot of this vitriol comes from Anne, too, so maybe the whole family considers this betrayal of the voters worth it. I mean, it's not like they really live in Utah.

Although the non-profits can be much worse, whether they're the big ones like Heritage or little ones that are essentially a PO Box and an IRS registration number. Bigger than average character sizes. I'm coming from the C# programming language and writing applications. Maybe 80% larger than a normal character size you are used to. I'm guessing the "Super Weekend [KT]" size at the top of the page compared to the normal text. "Super Weekend [KT]" is a HTML H3 and not sure how that equates. If I used 20 on a program that showed up on your desktop, I probably wouldn't be able to fit a lot of text on the program form.

The reason I mentioned it, is the guy is a shchister. From what I understand, he says he wrote a ton of books. People said the "books" were small in pages but large in font size.

This is fun fodder for mockery but jeebus the ignorance, delusion, arrogance, and narcissism of these people is no laughing matter.

All this brainiacs are so sure of the righteous of their cause and invective being hurled, yet never bother to explain why this impeachment is a must.

Literally every "witness" the House called while doing their shampeachment, under the minutest cross examine allowed to the Reps by the Schiffshow, said "Yeah well nobody every said that directly nor are there documents, but I understood his deeper meaning to be QUID PRO QUO!!!"
All these other "witnesses" they want to call were sitting right there for them to subpeona in the House... but nope. Let's take it to the Senate and punch the American people in the nuts.

Basically this whole thing is a giant whispering campaign and ADAM SAVAGE a guy who made his bank being skeptical and proving things out is all butt hurt because the Senate won't let Schiff and Nadler call "witnesses" to the stand based on news stories that they themselves plant in the newspaper. We get it you don't like Trump but dammit do you have to trear down the republic because of the psychic burn you got when Thundershart lost?

Hey Schiff and Nadler, do you know we know you do that, cause you aren't fooling anyone. But I guess that's the point of the big lie if you can make it stick.

I confess that for a long time I've believed that by now, the NeverTrumper's--most of them, anyway--would one by one, straggle back into the Trump camp OR that those who worship at the shrine of Colbert and Maddow and the rest of them would have turned on them for not delivering the impeachment that they have been loudly and lustily predicting for the past three years.

Posted by: JoeF. at February 01, 2020 02:38 PM (CqE5x)

I figured two different outcomes:

-they come back to what they said they always wanted and either grudgingly admit they were wrong on the merits, or hell, they would not even have to do that, just grudgingly say 'Hey this Trump fellow seems to be delivering on a lot of our wish list items.' Abject humiliation and abasement would not be necessary, just a change in behavior.

-decide to go the full monty and drop the pretext that they even believed in conservative ideas and go full liberal.

The second choice seems to be the way most of them want to go, but I think the problem with it and why they still seem to want to portray themselves as 'conservative' is that when it comes down to it, that (being called conservatives) is all they have to distinguish themselves from all the other assholes in media and TV. If they jettison even that thin veil, then they are just doughy, pasty pundit #5068.

439 Don't know or care about McCarthy's personal situation, just commenting on the substance (boring to most, but I find the personal stuff boring).

On what basis does he assert Trump pressured Ukraine? Which document, which confirmed meeting? Are the Ukrainians idiots - they didn't seem to know they were being asked to do anything, and they didn't do anything, and they didn't understand there was a "delay" in anything.

Again, all of this aside from the absurdity that a president can't muscle a foreign country to address our concerns on any matter, especially when there's a mountain of evidence and certainty that a lot of funny business had occurred, and we have an MLAT.

The lightweights and idiots who are uncomfortable with the idea, of course, are too dim and non-analytical to consider the necessary, central, direct implication of their weird pretense that there's anything "inappropriate" about this - political figures have immunity from investigation. Period. Obviously. No way around it.

Yet of course if their small critical-thinking-challenged minds were confronted with this, they'd stammer and sputter and change the subject.

451 Oh Blonde M., it's absolutely common sense and persuasive that the Ukrainians would say whatever they think best serves them now, and dependence on us would generally suggest supporting the administration's claims.

But that's not what we have here, or what I was talking about. There is no evidence - from prior to the ridiculous impeachment debacle - that they thought they were under pressure, or that there was a delay (it's absolutely clear they did not know/understand there was a delay). Nor that they complied with Trump's imaginary demands.

We have Trump's perfect (heh) conversation with Zelensky. Very clear what was requested there. Request was not honored, at least not right away. No link was made to aid.

Facts. All this began with my pouring contempt on McCarthy for repeating the falsehoods of the Dem vandalism mob, wondering/marveling that he would do so.

They got their impeachment. I recall seeing Maddow on Colbert (literally) saying that the Republican Senate probably would not follow through, so you could say she delivered.

And they continue to rationalize all the other failures -- the Mueller Report, lack of WWIII or Civil War 2, our survival without net neutrality, the economy's stubborn resistance of Paul Krugman's predictions, etc.

That's why I broken-recordly keep saying that the ONLY thing that will budge a mind is HANDCUFFS, JUMPSUITS, POLICE VANS, GUILTY VERDICTS, TELEVISED CONFESSIONS.

We were promised something in late Spring or early Summer. I predict a bunch of paperwork and lapsed statutes of limitations.

rhomboid, I get it. But the lack of evidence is easily filled in with mind-reading.

The out-of-hand dismissals are a bit beyond the notion of Ukrainians savvily pursuing their best interests. "Whatever you're hearing from the Ukrainians about not knowing, not feeling pressure, is a lie because they fear that Trump will destroy them if they don't go along with his master plan to partner with Putin in global dictatorship."

I'm not exaggerating. These people offer no hope of a reasonable or logical discussion.
