March For ONT

Happy Friday Morons. Say, did you ever look at satellite imagery of your house? I figured I'd take a peek at mine. Hey, wait a minute!

March For Life

Had a great time at the march today, but I'm a bit tired so I'm not going to be real gregarious tonight. One funny thing from the march, however. The Smithsonian metro stop was closed (that's the one that drops you off in the middle of the march), so we (Little and I) had to get off at L'Enfant Plaza, which is a couple of blocks off the Mall. When we got to Independence, we were stopped, told that nobody could cross the road, and watched as dozens of police officers spread out along the road. So that's how we had a curbside spot for the presidential motorcade. We were much closer to Trump at that point than we were for his speech, the Mall was jammed with people wall to wall and treetop tall. After that we marched down Pennsylvania Ave. I stopped at the Canadian Embassy and demanded Alberta beef from the embassy staff watching the march (they refused my demands). Rather than continue up onto Capital Hill (which becomes another huge crush of people as the march ends), we peeled off and headed to the Judiciary Square metro station. Some old lady (Lib. I mean, she had to be) sitting on 3rd St NW commented to us “You two look dangerous in those hats” (Little was wearing a MAGA hat and I had a Trump 2020 KAG hat). Little politely said “Thank you” to her and we continued on to the metro. All in all, a very good day.

Rest In Peace

The great conservative philosopher Robert Scruton passed away last week. In his memory you should read his essay Why I became a conservative

I suspect this book would resonate with him: ‘The Age of Entitlement’ Review: The Dividing Line. The so-called progress of the 1960s came at a staggering cost.

Gimmie Fever

98.6 Degrees Fahrenheit Isn’t the Average Anymore

According to this study, the average human temp is now 97.5, not 98.6. That's a staggering difference for 150 years, why? Theories at the link.

Jaw Dropping

This is a bit from a story by a Vice reporter on smart guns. I honestly about shit a brick when I watched it. I think my exact response was “Holy mother of fuck!”

And to think, I used to chide Little when he was 5 if he didn't maintain trigger discipline while playing with his toy guns. No wonder these yahoos think guns are so dangerous. In their hands, they are. I also noticed that the asshole from the alphabet agency was about as useful as a cock flavored lollipop.

Good Lawfare

Family Sues DEA and TSA After Elderly Man's Life Savings Were Seized at Airport

The fact that these government agencies just take money from people – they just take the cash – when there is no question of a crime involved is amazing to me. It's amazing that they do it when there is a crime involved, although I'm prepared to listen to counter arguments (I reject them, but I'll allow that it is a reasonable POV). What's most amazing of all, however, is that we allow it. Maybe this lawsuit will change that.

Globull Warming

Chemistry Expert: Carbon Dioxide Can’t Cause Global Warming

The article argues that it can't raise the temperature of the oceans, which isn't quite the same thing.

Sharpshooter's Tree

A diminutive plaque recalls the treetop sniper who almost killed Abe Lincoln

Contemporary accounts note hew was “wounded by an equally good Union marksman of his kind” and died shortly thereafter.

Puerto Rico

In case you missed it, this week they discovered a huge amount of aid that was sent to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria has been rotting in warehouses ever since. So, how are the Puerto Ricans taking the news?

I hope they use it.

39 I apologize in advance for the lengthy nature of this post, but I hope that you might give it a read, as it recalls an actual conversation and was hastily jotted down during a smoke break on the back dock at work for the purposes of sharing with you good folk on the ONT.

This evening I had a customer pose the question of whether or not the Trump economy was merely cyclical or what, if any, economic or other erstwhile policies Trump has enacted that might account for the current GDP growth.

I explained the changes and growth in what I am now calling the Blow Job, Hookers, Blow & OxyContin Economic Model.

My theory is based upon a few key tenants.

The first is the Blow Job model, which is as follows. A boyfriend has the desire for a blow job, which may represent in this instance consumer confidence, which is to say a perceived expectation of positive outcome. As the expectation of a blow job increases, the willingness of an individual to spend money at the bar with confidence on a given female grows proportionately. A woman that gives you an aloof attitude and coldness may receive one drink on your tab as you dabble, experimenting with possible outcomes, but quickly dissipates as your expectations diminish. But a filthy whore that may seem more receptive encourages further expenditure in expectation of ultimate success. Trump has, in some way, increased the likelihood, intrinsically, that one may indeed ejaculate in the mouth of a given female, figuratively speaking, with the reduction of regulation, a loosening of barriers to entry and a reduction in business taxation and health insurance mandates. Thus, the average male (or in this instance "consumer") is more likely to spend money and stimulate the economy.

Further, the Blow Job model notes that where there is a surplus of willing whores to give blow jobs, the desire on behalf of the drink purchaser is inversely correlated to the willingness of that individual to spend money to receive oral copulation. Basically, if your girlfriend expects wine and roses on her birthday in order to allow your Johnson in her mouth, where there are many women willing to suck you off, your need to buy roses and wine and treat her with due respect is diminished, but where there is a paucity of women willing to mouth your member, your likelihood of placating the wishes of your girlfriend is increased. In this example, we see that by controlling the influx of foreign workers willing to work for substandard wages and clamping down on the use of immigrant labor by businesses, President Trump has improved the outcome and expectation of the average worker which is positively affected. Whereas Obama-Era policy promised that, by force of government regulation and penalty, a given individual may be dissuaded from ejaculating in your mouth, Trump-Era policies have affirmatively encouraged individuals to naturally abstain from ejaculating in one's mouth and, indeed, to increase the compensation package for the individual fellater using natural market forces by increasing competition for labor.

The Hookers, Blow and OxyContin theory of economics is the second half of the explanation of policy shift that has positively influenced the economic model.

This theory, the HB & O model, notes that in order to raise the productivity of the dependent class, the economy must provide a substantial incentive for a given individual to move beyond their current state. The theory, as I presented it essentially states this:

To entice an individual to move beyond subsistence living on the government dole, one must make becoming a productive working member of society the rational choice due to the intrinsic advantage of doing so. If one may receive government assistance that pays all their bills in the amount of, as an example, $25,000 annually, the individual must be able to reasonably expect an increase in livability and lifestyle for their efforts.

To an individual who receives $25,000 annually for doing nothing, working for $26,000 is not a reasonable trade off, as essentially one is trading 2000 hours of labor (40 hrs x 50 weeks) for a modest increase of $1000. However were the gap larger, say $11,000 per year, one may be willing to take on their own $25,000 in living expenses and work (thus foregoing government benefits), given that there may be an additional $11,000 which enables them to purchase hookers and blow on the weekends, thus improving their lifestyle.

But this is where the OxyContin comes into play. Not only must the average wage exceed the government benefit package by a substantial amount of money enough to provide hookers and blow, but it also must be large enough of a gap that an individual still has motivation to work beyond government benefits + the black market activity of getting a free government OxyContin script which may be sold to provide hookers and blow.

The combined policies of President Trump to decrease regulation, create a scarcity of labor, crack down on the use of illegal labor, create consumer and business confidence and repatriate foreign-outsourced business to domestic production has combined to create an environment where it logically makes sense for a given individual to get off their fat ass and work because increased effort will indeed provide not only subsistence-level living and the occasional toothless crack whore and low grade cocaine mixed with baby laxatives, but instead provide the expectation that increased effort may yield a larger trailer hone, a used vehicle built in the 2010s, a high dollar, attractive call girl and cocaine that will keep you awake all night.

It is my sincerest hope that this simplified economic theory, put in layman's terms, may provide a valuable model in helping you explain the sometimes difficult topic of economics to your own family and friends, such that you may impress upon them the necessity of re-electing President Trump in 2020.

I thank you for bearing with me.

That happened during the Reagan years. Along with immigration, it's probably his biggest mistake, but civil asset forfeiture was sold as a way to keep drug dealers from using profits from the sale of drugs to pay for their defense. Completely unconstitutional, but here we are.

76 The Richmond rally, Bluebell, was a great success and very rewarding for those that attended. That level of energy must be maintained by the Patriots if we are to roll back what the General Assembly is passing and recapture power for the future. We are in this pickle because people were dozing.

I was somewhat disappointed at the number of people who cancelled attending at the last minute because they started to believe the hysteria circulating prior to the event. Maybe they expect the coming struggle to be completely without risk, despite ranting and raving in the safety of anonymity.

I hope we can bring Virginia back from the hole it has dug for itself.

sort of meh, with some funny parts, imo, but I get why it's an Oscar favorite - it's like LaLa Land al over agaon - Hollywood loves fairytales about itself

True about Hollywood loving to talk about itself. It also loves movies comparing Hollywood to Broadway.

I'm biased because I'm a fanboi but of the four movies I saw in theaters last year three were Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I liked it that much.

Also it's not a musical, which is why I never saw La La Land. That was a musical.

Yet, we are also told we know the temperature of the "earth" down to a fraction of a degree going back thousands of years based on measuring bubbles in ice core and tree rings.

1. there is severe under reporting.

2. old people deaths do not count. In China, you go to clinic, doctor hands you pills, you go home and die. If you are old, they say it is from age. These deaths reported are all young people where death was big shock.

slow down.
1. Yes, it started during Reagan, but Clinton weaponized it, mostly to get around his "didn't inhale" problem with the voters who thought he would be soft, but also part of his attempt to win over the local PD (remember 100k new police, etc.) He wanted PD to vote dem. There were specific acts, but I don't remember them now. I do remember that Clinton did a lot more harm to the constitution by an order of magnitude.

2. Reagan screwed the pooch on immigration, but those were different times. immigration was much lower and remember the economy was growing and businesses were screaming for workers. They were also screaming about having to verify citizenship of new hires, and it all just created a market for stolen and falsified ID. Reagan's folly would not have been so large if the feds adjusted in face of the problems, but instead they just propped open the door and went to lunch.

Exactly. And just how can the old boy, who apparently has some degree of dementia, "prove" the cash was obtained legitimately if it was simply saved by stuffing it under a mattress, 1930's miser style? He never had a bank account. And one should not have to prove one's innocence, anyway. The onus is on the prosecution.

And I doubt big-time drug couriers carry big sums of cash onto airplanes much anymore. They are smart enough to know what the Feds are doing, and will be taking countermeasures.

I'm sick to death of these damn Bloomberg ads. Anyone else notice how the latest are telling the senate what to do?

Kiss my butt Bloomberg.

The Left is seeing power slip from them, and they don't know what to do. They controlled the messaging system, and still control the stupid, but things are not following the path.

They are in full panic mode.

Unfortunately, there is still a huge number of ignorant people out there who only know "Democrats good, for the people" and "Republicans bad, for the rich, and I am not rich, therefor I hate."

We'll be doomed for a while yet.

The problem with having any government of any size in Brussels is that the only model Brussels has for large governance of foreign land is the Belgian Congo. Where rubber production by the natives was strongly correlated with spikes in ammunition usage by the Colonial forces. And where the Colonial troops had to show severed hands to prove what they shot.

The problem with that list is that a full English breakfast ("god tier") often includes a bit of black pudding ("crap tier"). And Yorkshire pudding is part of the Sunday roast dinner, so they're just cheating on that one.

Now, it is true they have provoked millions of otherwise peaceable ordinary people into a red hot rage, but it is completely warranted and justified. It's the old Leftist trick I guess. Throw shit on people, and then when they inevitably respond point and cry "Fascist!!". Yeah no, Fuck You Bloomie

If it is as bad as it appears, they are only going to get it under control with massive quarantine and stay-at-home martial law forcing the public to sit home. That means shutting down the cities.

Closing roads, closing trains, closing airports. Turning the PLA into an occupying force and shooting people in the street to make people understand that it is serious.

These kids give me hope for the future.

The Deacon traveling with us wore a shoulder to ankle cape. He's about 6'5" and quite striking. We were stopped an extra time by LEO - after the second frisking, the SS guy said to him: "I'm sorry Father but you look like Darth Vader."

We stood very near the main stage. I saw three sniper teams very close by while PDT was on site. Unsurprisingly, the rifles were at rest pointing outward - away from the crowd towards the roofs of the surrounding Federal buildings.

Note for weasel - all the rifles had suppressors.

Worse: It is the LAW that they are mainstreamed. I have been through hell the last two weeks because I am co-teaching for the first time. Over 35% of a class has emotional or learning disabilities, so there's a special ed teacher go with them from class to class.

My co-teacher walked out to see our principal without saying a word to me this week - just as We needed to split up for a test. I'd already been getting emails from him about discipline (don't) and then he said I needed to see a consultant this week (NOT my dingbat colleague). Because I'm too strict.

You see, "every time you (just me) send a child to the Cool-Off Room, you destroy rapport. Let (insert colleague's name) take the child out."

So my co-teacher leaves for half the class (or more) for one child. Rapport? Some of the kids are just learning that their behavior has consequences. I want deténte!

And now my rant is over. Not nearly as funny as BitterClinger, but nearly as long.

Infectious disease spread is highly dependent on number of contacts a contagious person has. As china becomes much more dense (urbanization) and people have many more contacts (working and living in very dense buildings and streets) and more mobile (air travel, cars, HSR) the threat increases exponentially.

In past a new virus would infect a village and a couple people would die and that would be the end of it.

Conversely, Houston during Hurricane Harvey, two years ago. Metro area of about 7 million people, including outlying areas.

It's been confirmed by state media that it was found in an open air seafood store just 8.6 miles down the road from the only level 4 bioweapons research and development lab in China.

You don't quarantine 43 million people in Wuhan and 15 other cities if it was only 1000 infected. Plus cancel New Years and close Disney Shanghai.

SARS only infected 8500. The videos and conversations that have leaked out of that area don't lie. They are obviously terrified of this thing to be using biohazard suits to pick up sick people.

Or it could run hot and burn out. Everything is snowballing so quickly. We won't know anything for 2-3 weeks about how bad it is. Pray it's nothing. China isn't behaving that way though.

427 Those Bidens.

Whoa.

Take your eyes off of Where's Hunter?'s corruption for a while, and take a look at Joe's brother, James Biden.

In 2010, a Biden family friend named Kevin Justice, who had just set up a new construction company weeks before, met with VP Joe at his office. Three weeks later, James Biden becomes Executive VP of the new construction company. James Biden has ZERO experience in construction.

Then, about 6 months later, the same company gets a contract for 100,000 housing units in Iraq. Later, other multi-million dollar government contracts go the same way.

That is what we call corruption, kids.

This is why the Shampeachment theater is marching on.

Both inside and outside the quarantined cities. Both disease and panic. The panic seems worse than the disease so far.

There is a balance as to how fast something kills you to be an effective bio-weapon. If it kills too fast, it burns out. At one point, I believe our military came up with a three-virus combo that would sicken the enemy, then as they were getting over the first virus, would get it from the second, and when almost finished with the second, get hit by the third. The object was to keep enemy soldiers sick (and by that virture, tying up other soldiers and resources to take care of them).

Similar to the idea that a wounded soldier takes up more resources and damages morale more than a dead soldier, a disease that spreads easily but has moderate mortality could be a better weapon that kills everyone who gets it.

More panic, more economic damage...

Two guys have been running youtube channels out of china for 10+ years and married chinese girls. They have a video company based in California and left China about a year ago (saw Hong Kong coming). But they have a ton of contacts in china still. So they have some details on what the situation is. Exactly how the officials are corrupt --- it's a heierarchy where the blame gets kicked downstairs so coverups happen at the local level *not* in Beijing. The main problem is "wet markets", which is a very old feature of chinese culture that the party has not suppressed. You'd have to watch the video to understand how this ties together and what's really going on. Plus some of their other videos, which explain the behaviour of chinese socially.

Another UToob video I forget the details for was by a couple of young guys who did forbidden explorations of abandoned places/facilities. Watched one they did at a huge WWII explosives factory complex in IN.

Which reminds me, freely associating, that the largest single area of investment in WWII by the German military was explosives, not aircraft or armor, or U-boats. Which further reminds me (same book) that IG Farben built some enormous factories near Auschwitz (using inmate labor), one of which remains (well, until 2003 at least) one of the largest synthetic rubber factories in the world.

Holy crap. I just learned about a heinous crime I never knew about. Two of them, actually.

A couple of psycho teenagers in Phoenix back in '91 murdered 9 monks and nuns at a Buddhist temple during the commission of a robbery.

They wrote "BLOODS" on the wall to throw the cops off the scent.

So the cops nabbed the nearest ghetto black kid they could find (totally innocent of the crime) and three of his buddies, dragged them to a fuckin' motel room, and kept them awake for days threatening their families until they railroaded them into a confession.

Luckily they got the rarest of birds, an honest prosecutor, in their circuit. This guy immediately realized there was no evidence and none of the confessions matched reality, and dropped the charges. A couple of months later the real killers were apprehended because a sharp MP pulled over a suspicious young kid with a rifle that matched the caliber.

502 The five international cuisines are Italian, French, Chinese, and Mexican and Indian. And argument could be made for American as our fast food alone is world wide. But I am talking people from all over who have taken to a nation's cuisine.

There are arguments for others but I believe this list is the top five. You don't see people in Hungary that want to go out for Honduran food. You don't see people in Belize going for Canadian food.

Sure there are great cuisines around the world. If I had to round out the top ten it would include Japanese, American, Lebanese and others. But there are only a small handful of cuisines that are internationally loved and people seek them out over and over. Chinese is one, and there is no question about that.

That's the first time I have heard the song. Thanks for passing it on.

If anyone loves Tex-Mex and the history of the cuisine, I recommend The Tex-Mex Cookbook by Robb Walsh. The cool thing about the cook book is that is also gives a lot of the history. There is a small section of London and Paris. I have been to some Tex-Mex places in both cities and preferred those in Paris.

There was a cool place in London called The Texas Embassy. It wasn't the most authentic but it was a fun place to hang out if you needed a chip, salsa, and margarita fix. The neat thing about the place is that it was located near the original site of the actual Republic of Texas Embassy.

I have likely told this story before...I only have so many.

Once upon at time, I worked for a company that was one of the first to design and produce 'smart' control systems. The crux of the idea is/was that a central computer sends out instructions to distributed 'smart' controllers, and those controllers then independently execute on a continuing basis whatever instructions have been passed to them.

So, we were visited by a guy from Morton Thiokol, who was interested in systems located in their storage bunkers.

After explaining the system to him, he said, "So, if I lose a building, the rest of the system will continue to function?"

"Sure", we replied, it happens all of the time. He then said, "I don't think you know what I mean by 'lose a building'. "

One related thing about the IN complex in the video - escape chutes from different levels of the large powder-manufacturin buildings. Just huge metal versions of a slide at a water park.

They sold a lot of the surround ground to the county. Amazon put a distribution center in there and there is a lot of industry starting and growing in the complex.

The areas the main buildings were on (I believe some have been torn down) are still unused, I think.

614 RE Civil Asset forfeiture. SCOTUS ruled last year that that laws was unconstitutional in the way it was being implemented. The case they ruled on involved taking a man's new truck after they found $400 worth of marijuana in the truck. It would follow that any case in which here was zero crime would also be illegal. But the cops are still using that unconstitutional law and I hope that is brought up in the case referenced above. They should also be prosecuted for grand theft and it should not be necessary to sue to get your money back.

629 I agree with the Franklin quote to an extent. I think God does have ultimate control over the affairs of men but I also think
He allows men to act in sinful/hurtful ways.

It is interesting to me that we can ask God to intercede and rejoice when the good we ask for is given. However, also as believers when the good we ask for is not received we still trust that God is working for our good in ways we can't see right now. So regardless of outcome believers trust that God is working all things together for good to those that love Him.

630 My dog Pogo is slowly getting better. She can walk almost normally now, and can get up from her bed onto her feet without evident struggle. I asked her if she wanted to go for a car ride tonight, and she ran out to the Suburban, but did not have the strength in her hindquarters to jump in the vehicle. So she went back to bed, and I went to the bar for a sammich and beer. When I came back, she heard me unlock the front door, and trotted out to greet me. Now that is an encouraging sign.

Well, it really happened, but all railroad men adopted the story (including Hamlet-nice that you noticed).

The real cause was bad switching-there were cars on an "Open" track.

But they had lawyers then too, so actual liability was never officially decided.

I just asked her if she wanted to go outside. She got up, went out the door, wandered in several circles, and headed right back inside. She has done this several times before. Almost like she's afraid of something there. I don't know if she anticipates pain from peeing and/or pooping, or if she got attacked by something out there, and is now spooked by the experience. Very strange.

Another paper I read only went as far as to say the original Bat-SARS was studied for a few years, the Wuhan facility found that poop from 15 different bats-SARS would allow for human to human transmission, but didn't say they created it.

I think they created it, and it got lose from the facility to the seafood open market via an employee on accident. I also believe things are way worse than we know (internet was cut off in Wuhan). I've seen some videos of people falling and lots of blood coming out of their mouths.

675 AK, I have thought the same. For me, I wanted something in my marriage that I was sure in God's will. It never happened and I assumed it was His will for it not to happen, or He simply would not override her free will as a believer.
I am now more inclined to think that I was right to pray for it, but I was wrong in waiting for Him to get it done. Having a free will of my own it was my responsibility to exercise the authority God says I have as a husband.
My failure was not because of God's will, it was because I did not accept that God sometimes chooses to work with us and will not work without us.
We can complain that we are starving, but remember that Peter was told, Arise, slay and eat. The Lord provided what was wanted, but Peter had to take some action to get it.
I hope that ramble made some sense.

Posted by: Pickled & Happy at January 25, 2020 04:31 AM (Tc6m0)

721 G'morning, Horde.

I could use some advice. Here's the backstory: A couple of years before he died my late hubby allowed his life insurance policy to lapse. He said he could no longer afford the premium. Policy gone.

Yesterday I received notice of a class action lawsuit alleging the insurance company was overcharging on these policies. There is evidently enough evidence that they're willing to settle. I am eligible to be included in the class action suit and the amount I would be awarded is somewhere between $250 and $100,000. That second number still has me in shock.

If I sign on to the class action suit I forfeit my right to sue individually. What do I do?

Good morning!

Two "streaming for free" movies to reccomend for you, serious, not funny at all horror:

Quarantine, a found-footage movie about people trapped in an apartment building while a disease ravages them. Its much easier to watch than most, as the cameraman is a professional.

Quarantine 2, picks up directly after the first, explicitly confirms stuff you'd surmise from the first, and gives a voice to the government and the antagonists.

Gorehounds probably won't like these.

Roku search engine should find these.

726 Pickled, he didn't pay much overcharge. He let the policy lapse within a couple of months after the premium went up.

It's not overcharges I'm eligible for. It's partial payment of the policy...up to 75% of the face value.

Posted by: creeper at January 25, 2020 04:35 AM (XxJt1)

Not a lawyer, but here goes:

Yes, you sign onto a class action lawsuit and you can no longer sue as an individual. On top of that, most class action lawsuit judgments go to the lawyers who filed the lawsuit, with you getting pennies on the dollar, if that much.

Best advice is spend a little for a real legal consult where you get advice on what your legal options are.

Like I said, not a lawyer so I could be very wrong. But going to a real lawyer is sound advice.

When you say "gut" surgery, what exactly was it? I was diagnosed with indeterminate colitis as a secondary issue to my Ankylosing Spondilitis, and may need surgery. I'm a little freaked out about it, and I'm trying to find others who've had surgeries involving the intestines and rectum.

That bold part above is easy: You, and every other person who signed onto the class action lawsuit.

When you see all those class action lawsuit ads on tv, run away. Those ads aren't cheap and somebody has to pay for them (helpful hint: The clients pay which would include you). Tricksy accounting, like how no Hollyweird film ever seems to make a profit (for those actors who signed a contract for a piece of the profit, not the gross).

747 DBCooper, diverticulitis will double you over in pain. I spent more than a few hours in the doctor's office hooked up to an IV antibiotic. Oddly, the flare-ups stopped when I lost a hundred pounds. I was able to avoid surgery.

Doctors at Mayo showed me a scan of my colon. It looks like it was made out of bubble wrap.

Thanks, I found out that I had diverticulitis, then colitis, and finally ankylosing spondilitis. And I would never had found out if I didn't keep pressing the several doctor's about the pain I was experiencing. They always seemingly didn't believe my complaints of pain. With the hysteria with opioids, I now have to set up an appointment with a pain specialist who will not issue pain meds on the initial consult. I'm not even asking for a lot of medication, but just enough so I don't have to go the ER.

It's counterintuitive but walking helps you recover and prevents scar tissue from forming adhesions. Prayers for quick recovery for you and all Morons facing health challenges.
