The Morning Report - 12/27/19

cuomplsk.jpg

Good morning kids. Friday and the last weekend of the year is here. Something a bit different before we delve into the continuing sham-peachment and related Deep State anti-Trump coup developments. A couple of links caught my attention because they are both happening in my home state and perfectly illustrate the absolute insanity of Leftism. First up, as the Empire State's new law allowing illegal aliens to obtain driver licenses went into effect last week, it also cut off ICE and the Border Patrol from access to its database. As completely insane as that is from the standpoint of greasing the wheels of massive voter fraud, it makes the state and the entire nation incredibly vulnerable to all sorts of serious violent crime up to and including terrorism. In fact visa and the directly-relaed driver license fraud led to both attacks on the World Trade Center as well as jihad by rent-a-truck a few years ago on Halloween in lower Manhattan, among other incidents.

After collapsing to the pavement with that punch to the gut, the state then grinds its hobnailed boot into your head with another law that, get this, allows accused criminals to examine the scenes of their alleged crimes and obtain the names of potential witnesses against them. What could possibly go wrong? Couple both of these with a piece on the Marxist movement in other Leftist shit-holes to abolish the police altogether and we're not far from Jim Cramer advising us to go long on face colanders.

Although these truly hideous stories at first glance don't fit into the impeachment and coup buckets, the fact is that these policies come directly from one of the two states that are at the heart of the current insurrection against President Trump, and the multi-decade multi-generational effort to overthrow America as founded; an effort that Trump and we the people have halted, at least temporarily. Notice the lineup at any press conference the Dems hold these days, and the one thing to note is that everyone up there is either from New York or California. It's also a perfect illustration of what will happen if the electoral college is ever abolished.

The bottom line is what New York as well as California and every other so-called "sanctuary" state or jurisdiction is engaging in with this is tantamount to insurrection. I find it highly ironic and disgusting that after having endured the Left pissing and moaning about the evils of "states rights" and the 9th and 10th Amendments, most notably when SCOTUS struck down Arizona's attempt to secure their own border when Obama's federal government refused to do it, they suddenly act as if they're the second coming of Madison and Jefferson. It is to vomit from the hypocrisy.

The dangers posed to the nation are obvious. The actions of Cuomo and his fellow travelers are manifestly irresponsible and a direct threat on multiple levels to our national security and the welfare of the citizenry. The right and just thing to do, short of revoking statehood and abolishing state governments, would be to federalize the national guard as well as state police organizations to maintain order and give temporary control of all law enforcement to the federal government. Obviously to do so given the current political climate of this nation would cause an immediate reaction. But clearly, something has got to be done because we are reaching critical mass with this madness.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

Obviously to do so given the current political climate of this nation would cause an immediate reaction."

A "reaction"???? Ha! But first, we should all note that you are exactly right, this is what is required to even hope to repair the situation. But think seriously about what would be required. A President would require complete control of Congress; and the only way to do that would be to declare those two states in Insurrection and remove *all* of their delegates from the House, leaving the other 48 - or maybe less, since some will join with them. An 1866 style reconstruction government would have to be imposed on those states, and that would mean at least 100,000 regular federal troops; in fact, running them would require the abolition of all state government and the imposition of direct martial law for some time - probably at least a decade, just like last time.

Make no mistake, this would require war. The biggest question is, could Trump or any other President ever have enough personal control over the Military to pull this off? Right now I don't believe he does - the top ranks of the military are not on our side, they need to be purged.

Doesn't give one a great deal of confidence in the story (though lying about her father's occupation is just the sort of thing she does). She appears to have used her first husband's name all these years because she published several articles in law reviews before she married her current husband; Bill Bradley's wife did the same thing.

What steps, short of "war", has the administration really taken to stop sanctuary? We hear about withholding tax money and getting illegals off the government titty, but this is not happening. California is not getting additional money for their mess, but this is not the same as stiffing state governments, city governments and universities (how are they paying for free illegals' tuition and board?). There are no consequences and their is adulation from the networks. So, as is always the case (and is the case with illegals generally), rewarded behavior is repeated behavior.

I wanted to see employers of illegals do time, but if it has happened, I haven't read about it. Same for university admissions officers, and state and local functionaries who abet illegals.

Is the administration concerned that the courts will side with illegals' "rights" and hence no action? Or is it that we have a bunch of failure theater types in government?

32 @26

The administration has tried things like withholding money but lost in court, they never tried it up to the SCOTUS level though.

I think one of the main problems is that they will more than likely will lose.
If congress authorizes money to de doled out to states, the administrations hands are largely tied.

The only solution to the problem would be legislation but even if we had the house and a filibuster proof majority in the Senate, their is simply no will to deal with this issue from the Uni-party.

So the insurrectionist states will continue to insurrect.

Dealing with illegal immigration is solely a Trump created and driven initiative the GOP could give two farts about actually solving this problem.

Why is their "Zero Tolerance" policy not in effect for illegal immigration? Oh well, we have no control over our own government, so what's the point in getting all worked up about it? Those progs are going to do whatever they want to, laws (and us Normals) be damned.
They can have all the laws on the books, but all it takes is a few Soros-bought-and-paid-for prosecutors who'll declare they'll refuse to enforce them and Viola! We're a third-world country run by unaccountable despots who hate the people who put them in office.

______________

They don't need SS numbers, although a lot of them have them anyway. The IRS will issue anybody a TIN (taxpayer identification number), regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Most of the illegals claiming the billions of dollars that the IRS pays out every year to illegal aliens (by the IRS' own admission) are using TIN's to file their tax returns claiming the tax "credits."

--

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't nationwide RealID supposed to take effect in '21 or '22, instead of it being optional now? That will prove a problem for illegals, if true. Yeah, right. I'm sure requirements will be waived, because we wouldn't want stigma or having them run back "into the shadows."

Upon Trump's reelection, one of his first acts should be that ALL licences issued by a state must comply with the Real ID Act.

No one from New York will be allowed to fly.
Let the white leftist, safe behind their guard towers and high-rise security feel the actual impact of their virtues signaling, the true cost.

That is actually what they're setting up--that the federal government cannot tell the state what it must do as licenses are a state matter.

If I had any hope the supreme Court would actually restore the 10th, I'd root them on.
In reality, the courts will carve out another emmination and penumbra from between the ether of the plain words of the Constitution and say " only on this one thing can states defy the feds because of OrangeManBad and racism of white people."

Probabaly; but the TIN exists so that business entities not belonging to some person with an SSN can still earn income and pay income taxes on that income. TIN's are handed out easily because their only purpose is tax collection, and it is policy that any organization that wants to pay taxes legally should be encouraged to do so. Which is why there's no investigative group to question anyone who applies for one.

Creating such a group, given the scale of the users, would probably require tripling or quadrupling the size of the IRS, for investigations alone.

77 US Ambassador Recalled From Zambia for Criticizing Its Anti-Gay Laws
I've seen the term 'cookie-pusher' used in print with reference two occupational groups: diplomats and bishops. This ambassador supposedly has a wife and children, which is a surprise.
What this suggests is that the 'professional' Foreign Service isn't very professional.

80 This guy isn't some random State Department employee. Only an odd minority of Foreign Service officers are promoted to the rank to which ambassadorial appointments are distributed.
In a sane world, those that do get promoted are reliably drawn from those who view the mores of other countries with some detachment and pursue American interests while navigating those mores.

84 Most people would say that a physician who cannot do his job without obnoxiously berating his patients about mundane habits he doesn't care for deserves some sort of sanction (from the market if not from authorities).

A refusal to indulge male homosexuals is severely status-lowering among professional-managerial types in this country; ordinary people have much more variegated opinions and even among fancy bourgeois, the Ambassador's viewpoint would have been very odd as recently as 35 years ago.

So, here we have this supposedly 'professional' Foreign Service officer berating the Zambian government for not adhering to the fashions of his social circle. Is this the best the Foreign Service can do?

97 How to stop states from issuing drivers licenses to illegals:

The federal government simply needs to stop accepting drivers licenses as ID from states where licenses are issued to illegals. It makes total sense: "your identification is basically useless because it doesn't enable the federal government to determine who is in the country lawfully and who is not, so we're not accepting licenses from your state."

New Yorkers won't be able to get into federal buildings. They'll have a harder time obtaining passports. They'll throw a fit, but too bad.

Oval course.

I was up there just riding around with no destination in mind, and more or less stumbled onto the facility.

Mid week, if I remember right, and nothing of real relevance was taking place. The one worker that I did find said 'Sure, be careful'.

It was interesting in that I was aware of the potential and prior high speed events that had taken place on the track.

Those of us who've been fighting the Climate Cultists for a long long time have ALWAYS said that THIS is what the "Global Warming/Climate Change" has always been about, this is the only reason it was ever created.

It is no coincidence at all that the "Climate" movement began to kick into gear just as the Soviet Union fell - the loosely connected intellectual intelligentsia knew that their old vehicle to destroy capitalism and institute one world government was finished, and they needed a new one.

The One True Goal of the Climate Movement has *always* been the implementation of a one-world totalitarian government. That is all they have ever cared about.

Yao. it was the time when the People danced to bring the aid of the spirits. It was the Ghost Dance. Sun-In-His-Hair danced, his council danced, even the dogs danced. There was rejoicing.
An old chieftain tapped Sun-In-His-Hair, nodded at one who performed the dance. She danced with the palsy; it was as if she had been stung.
"She is not a good dancer," said the chieftain.
"She would take my position," Sun-In-His-Hair replied. "She hopes to lead the People."
"What is her name?"

His policy re gun ownership is admirable. He's a Native American (Yao). He's encouraging the import of Aztecs.

Lots of guns, alien strain of illegal crime-prone monoglots.

The punchline.

Farnsworth: But, like most politicians, he promised more than he could deliver.

235 I used to live in Chicago's Gold Coast. I was a member of the neighborhood association and I still get their emails. They are hiring off duty cops to patrol the neighborhood because people are getting attacked on and robbed on the sidewalks. Posted by: TheQuietMan at December 27, 2019 08:44 AM (dFmBz)

Yes... It's starting to spread to formerly safe wealthy neighborhoods, tourist areas, expensive shopping districts, and business areas in the Loop. The scariest of all are these feral gangs of teens that jump you on the street in groups of six or eight. It's getting really scary.

238 "Serenity" made a bit better prediction, I think, in putting forth a culture descended from a Sino-American fusion.
Posted by: Tom Servo at December 27, 2019 09:24 AM (V2Yro)

Sino-American fusion is really at the root of our problem. American industry outsourced to cheap labor China, and then the desire to import cheap labor. Plus the Sino take over of universities, with Confucius Societies as the cherry on top. We need less Sino and less globalism.

The Europeans I meet see the US as an "economic zone" not as a country, and are plotting how to get freebies for their sick elders back home.

I favor deporting students once their degrees are finished, and slashing foreign admissions, as I think universities have been instrumental in our current mess.

\
I was noodling around with health care spending statistics from CMS (Medicare) the other day. Comparing dollar amount spending from 30 years ago to the most recent year, total spending on all healthcare categories has increased 303%. For 2018 the total reported by CMS was 3.6 trillion dollars.

Within that, prescription drug spending has increased 1093%.

...and total administrative costs has increased 1144%

241 TSA and America's airlines should refuse to recognize New York driver's licenses, for starters, and refuse boarding if those are the sole forms of identification. This would be a no-brainer if the federal government weren't increasingly as dysfunctional as the State of New York.

"I wanted to see employers of illegals do time, but if it has happened, I haven't read about it. Same for university admissions officers, and state and local functionaries who abet illegals.

Is the administration concerned that the courts will side with illegals' "rights" and hence no action? Or is it that we have a bunch of failure theater types in government?"

Yes.

There have been employer raids here and there, few and far between. Obviously a serious enforcement effort would increase those dramatically. I gladly will vote again for Trump, but the next president has to take immigration enforcement to a whole new level.

243 SCOTUS Fiddles while a Constitutional Insurrection Burns at Its Doorstep.

245 Well, here's a contrary opinion regarding refugee settlement. 1) There is such a thing, rightfully in my view, as legitimate refugee status. 2) Under Trump, illegitimate refugee status is being curtailed, bigly. 3) I don't know, but strongly suspect, that accepting refugees gets you some sweet sweet federal gravy. So, 4) Why wouldn't a Republican or conservative governor apply?

I've got nothing against legit refugees, per se, and they're probably among the most appreciative of their new home and the opportunities it affords.

No. My son in law was a legal immigrant who became a citizen last year. He's a good guy and followed all the rules; if he can do it, everyone should.

247 Howdy, Captain! I agree with you entirely regarding legal vs. illegal immigration. My point is that properly admitted refugees are legal. Their status (and again I don't know the ins and outs of immigration law) is almost certainly different from those like your SIL, but legal nonetheless.

Refugees are properly cared for in camps proximate to their country of origin, with a view to their eventual repatriation. The only bloc refugee generators proximate to the United States have been Haiti and Cuba.

Very few refugees should be resettled in this country nowadays. And Honduras is simply not a bloc refugee generator. There may be a newspaper editor with a price on his head in Tegucigalpa, but the overwhelming majority of these people are walking away from deficient living conditions, not persecution. (When they aren't just sorosphere rent-a-crowd).

The proper response to deficient living conditions is improved division of labor and technological applications on site, not resettling the people living in such places.
