Well it not awful. The plot is definitely awful though. After seeing it I almost think some of the negative reviews were because Abrams in all his hackery was able to ignore so much of the super woke Last Jedi. I can see it get a positive score from the public. It's just fishy that it has kept that score with no fluctuation? Unless someone has some fluctuation on the score that he wasn't able to get.

Hollywood is a great money transfer mechanism to the left.
It's an insult not to like the artistic efforts of the left.

even the 3rd wasn't horrible. It was time before CGI made everything easy. You had to work at the special effects and be deliberate about it. At best they had miniatures and a computerized tracked camera. Take a frame, move the props, move the camera. Take a frame, move the props, move the camera.

So much work, that it was easier to stick a better story around it and make it seem like there was a ton of special effects. Now? You just get the old spatula out and slather on a couple of inches of CGI to cover up the story.

When I first saw Dune, I thought it was the stupidest movie ever made. I then read the book and the movie made sense and is pretty good. The special effects are horrible. It doesn't matter. I'm expecting the remake next year to have great special effects and expecting the movie will suck because the special effects are easy.

380 I dunno about remakes- TCM did a Spotlight on remakes this month and it was interesting to compare the two versions of something.
A lot of the differences had to do with technology- 'The Letter' made in 1929 was hampered by actors having to stand near the mikes. By 1940, they could open it up more, use better camera shots, and so on.

But I agree about sequels, which I consider different from series.

Actually, that was ALL footage they had in the can from the previous film. They re-worked the story around the footage they had.

Plus - and if I gotta 'splain this again, I'm gonna kill you Lucy.. Plus, with the Dem rules for primaries/caucuses, no one who makes at least 15% loses.
Everyone making 15% or more, divvies up the delegates that would have gone to all the folks below 15%.
So Joe will still get some.. then In SC he will sweep enough delegates to give all of his competitors the bronx cheer.

Joe Biden has Super Tuesday 4 days after SC. By then 39% of delegates across the country will have been pledged. A week later, more southern states plus the rust belt will have voted.. 52% of delegates will have been assigned.
Even if they split the vote so badly that Joe goes into the convention with less than 50%, the second round of votes allows super-delegates to vote. Joe will be the establishment candidate and it will be all over.
