THE QUOTES OF THE DAY

Quote I

"Remember when Bloomberg demanded a third term as mayor and got it? Trump will do the same. Beware, the same autocratic impulses..." S.E. Cupp

Quote II

“I do believe that we have to deal with the original sin. We have to deal with slavery. Slavery was the thing that put all of what President Trump has done lately into motion. The president has played on racism and he’s used that as a weapon to galvanize a base of support, to mobilize people.” Rep. Al Green (D-TX)

Quote III

“When you talk to those who are in law enforcement and really push them a little bit, like a sheriff or a prosecutor and say, ‘So, really? You mean you’re going to allow violent felons to go ahead and purchase firearms?’ No. They back down pretty quickly.” Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring

Quote IV

And then you have That’sLieutenant Colonel Bratwurst – if you’ve been in uniform, you know there’s one of those guys in every unit, and the wise commander has him off inventorying combat boots at the CIF, where he can’t provoke the troops to hang him by his skivvies from the flag pole out in front of Division HQ. You look at this parade of smug, over-credentialed bureaucrats with delusions of competence and a track record of screw-ups and, to cite the popular meme, you realize that Trump was elected to fire people like them. Kurt Schlichter

Quote V

"The phenomenon of migration is compounded by war, hunger and a 'defensive mindset,' which makes us in a state of fear believe that you can defend yourself only by strengthening borders. At the same time, there is exploitation." Pope Francis

What do you call a rude and retarded beetle? Greta Beetle.

A newly discovered species of beetle has been named after young climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Nelloptodes gretae bears little resemblance to its namesake - it is less than 1mm long, and has no wings or eyes.

The insect does, however, have two long pigtail-like antennae.

Scientist Dr Michael Darby said he chose the name because he was "immensely impressed" by the Swedish teenager's environmental campaigning.

N. gretae was first found in Kenya in the 1960s by William Block, who donated his samples to the Natural History Museum in London in 1978. It has been held in one of the museum's collections since.

Texas is experiencing growth in their urban centers. However the rural population continues to decrease.

Texas’s growth over the last two decades has been the envy of just about every state in the union. But while that growth has grabbed headlines, parts of Texas have endured some of the steepest population declines anywhere in the country. While that might not be surprising to some who refer to the area as “The Big Empty,” the downfall of communities that dot the area can be shocking to see first hand.

Despite the fact that Texas is the second most populous state in America, it still managed to grow by a staggering 14.1 percent from 2010 to 2018. However, parts of Texas have continued to suffer from population loss, specifically due to rural flight that started back in the 1950s.

Tesla in search of the better mouse trap windshield wiper. Laser windshield wipers.

The windshield wiper is one of those automotive-related things that has, well, not really changed much since it was invented. A motor makes the wipers move to provide drivers with a clear view ahead. Ta-da.

Tesla often takes a different approach to things, and the electric-car innovator may be keen on replacing the humble windshield wiper with lasers. In a patent application filed this past May and published with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Nov. 21, Tesla describes a "pulsed laser cleaning" for "debris accumulated" on glass, specifically for automotive application. It also mentions this could be used for "photo-voltaic" applications. That's fancy-speak for solar panels.

So St. James doesn't care for the comments from Attorney General William Barr. Why not sit down and be deposed, tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth you slithering POS.

Former FBI Director James Comey defended the FBI and criticized Attorney General William Barr in an op-ed for The Washington Post following the release of a highly anticipated report by the Justice Department's inspector general.

"On Monday, we learned from a report by the Justice Department's inspector general, Michael Horowitz, that the allegation of a criminal conspiracy was nonsense," Comey said in the op-ed, which published after the report was released. "There was no illegal wiretapping, there were no informants inserted into the campaign, there was no 'spying' on the Trump campaign. Although it took two years, the truth is finally out."
Comey's comments in the piece, published Monday, come the same day the released report established that the FBI properly opened its investigation into Russian interference during the 2016 election but said there were major errors in how the agency conducted the probe.

The report concluded that officials at the FBI had enough information to properly launch the investigation in 2016, and dispel the claim that US intelligence agencies tried to plant spies in the Trump campaign.

Of course Basic Income won't work. Not according to its proponents.

It wasn't the news that researchers wanted. Two years after Finland launched a basic-income trial in which nearly 2,000 unemployed residents were given a regular monthly stipend, many of the recipients remained jobless.

The people reported that they were happier and healthier overall than other unemployed residents, but the experiment was widely declared a failure.

"It was discouraging to the basic income community," Michael Stynes, CEO of the nonprofit Jain Family Institute, told Business Insider. "But the survey results, as far as I can tell, are not really usable."

Well, Finland is in the news again. Woot-Woot, a gubmint run by chicks.

Finland’s coalition government will be composed of five parties all led by women for the first time after the female transport minister won a vote to be the next leader.

Sanna Marin has been chosen by her Social Democratic party to replace the outgoing prime minister Antti Rinne.

She will lead a centre-left coalition of five parties who all have female leaders – four under the age of 35.

A few moments or more of meditation and or prayer can help ease anxiety and manage stress

2. Laugh-no explanation necessary

3. Decompress-Apply a heat wrap to your neck shoulders for ten minutes

4. Listen to calming music

5. exercise-a walk, flights of stairs, stretching etc for at least ten minutes can really help

6. Prepare-organize your day ahead of time

7. Compatmentalize-Focus on one things at a time

8. reach out-Contact someone in your social network in person They may help give a you a fresh perspective

9 Daily Getaway Find a piece of solitude to disconnect for ten minutes without your phone

Savatage was never the same after guitarist Criss Oliva was killed by a drunk driver in Florida in 1995. His wife was horribly injured and passed some years later. Brother Jon Oliva was devastated. and the band moved on to help form TSO.

I was a yuge Savatage fan. Criss was one of the best metal guitarists ever.

377 327 Are there any pretty parts of Texas?

Posted by: Cannibal Bob at December 09, 2019 10:59 PM (VqhL9)

I've heard that the Hill Country west of Austin is gorgeous, and the Gulf Coast around Padre Island, but I've never been there.

I crossed Texas from Texarkana to El Paso in 1988, then across the Panhandle on I-40 in 1995. I don't remember any parts that I'd call "pretty". From Abilene to El Paso it's better to cross at night because you're not missing anything. Still better than southern New Mexico across I-10.

Used to live near New Braunfels, which is Hill Country. But the coastal areas are pretty as well, in their own way. Texas is like five different geographies mashed together: shore, hills, mountains (the Rockies), plains and piney woods.

Each year during my teen years were spent hunting ducks and pheasants in the Potholes, on the Winchester Wasteway. Some of my best memories of my life.

I really have to thank my late dad for working a hard, physical 60 hour week, getting home, the truck loaded with gear and food, and then hit the road for the 3 hour drive. We would sleep a couple of hours and then be walking for miles to the blind area or walking the potholes with the dog to find the ducks in hiding.

I don't know where he found the energy.

Jumpin' Jay-zus, Breck got fuuuuucked up. And look at what happened to ALL the industrial rezoning in Denver... all the places that used to employ normals, along i-25, around Santa Fe and Federal off 6th, up north on Larimer and in Five Points, etc. - it's all freaking art galleries and design studios and hipster restaurants and shoddy, super expensive apartment blocks for the new transplants.

I mean, Logan and Dakota and Tessie and Decker and Bronwyn need a place to live and park their FJ Cruisers and Xterras, and it makes sense for the city to remove all the industrial areas for their developer buddies and their juicy kickbacks

We had dish TV for a while, the dish is still up there on the roof. It worked great... until a windstorm or heavy snow or ice, then you'd lose the signal for a bit or a few hours. Nothing to do about it but wait.

A job I had in my youth was helping to put up those huge old satellite TV dishes. It was always in some remote place in the mountains so the drives and scenery were great but the "OK you dig a 15 foot trench 2 feet deep from here to there so I can lay the line" wasn't particularly charming. Particularly as the weather was usually not great and the boss was in having beers with the owner "explaining the service"

542 Imho, the Guns and Roses Maginot Line was one album long. Success went to their heads and Axl's pussy too quick.

Yeah Use Your Illusion has enough good stuff in it to make up a single album then a ton of crap. Its like they had one album's worth of stuff they had practiced up well (although Sweet Child o' Mine was evidently unfinished and they just made it up to end it on the fly) and were unready for anything else.

And Axl was a head case. Too bad too, Izzy and Slash are huge talents.

I'll admit to having seen Poison in concert. In my defense, I went from Ft. Bragg to Charlotte (3 hours, at least, each way)...to see Tesla

those hair metal bands weren't awful they just weren't metal but they posed as it. Had a couple okay songs. Some of them like Cinderella were actually pretty good but the lead singer was not up to the task. I even liked some of the Led Clones like Whitesnake. But they were no Judas Priest or AC/DC.

No, hence the purchase of the Jeep. This will give me something to drive to work in bad weather (the Mustang should not be let out of its stable when the roads turn slick) and therefore give me time to decide the Subie's fate. I'll probably put a crank in it and keep it around, but it might go on the auction block.

583 ron n. you might take note of what Lindsey said tonight - he said that however legit the opening of CH was, it became a criminal conspiracy "pretty quickly" [actually, July to January is a while, and one can/should more than quibble with the "legit" opening part, but ...]. Pretty direct trash talking.

Best part - at the very end, he added he wanted to know what the Mueller operation knew about this [the dossier crumbling from within as "sources" changed their tune or were discredited].

Finally! I'm not greedy, I just have spent more than 2 minutes looking at the whole thing, and it's obvious [obvious and inarguable] that every single bit of every single element of the *various* FBI/DOJ/IC plots against Trump were without any real basis, done entirely in bad faith, and involved an almost comical overlap of personnel.

And it certainly appears *it didn't start with CH, but earlier*. Think there are other things, but the ex-Overstock.com guy who got caught up in it all said it happened in 2015 [!].

The IG format and scope here clearly just wasn't adequate - there has been a series of linked/overlapping efforts directed against Trump, all based on thin air, and it sort of beclowns the IG to say they found no documented evidence of "intentional" misconduct. In context, it's absurd to say such a thing.

Go to the E.R., and BE an ASSHOLE if ya gotta.

Pro Tip.

Take her to local firehouse with all the complaints. They'll transport her via whambulance.

Arriving thus, they HAVE TO not only "admit" her, but fully treat her through the full course of things, even if transplants or open heart.

595 I've been watching a Mandarin-language series on Netflix. Silly series, but it's mostly fun.

What appears to be the most recent set of villains in the series is a sect that protects the nearby town. They started out encouraging people to be nice to animals, but have recently gone completely over the top. We got our first introduction to them when a local restaurant explained why all of the dishes in that restaurant (and every other restaurant in the town) were vegetarian. But the extent of the silliness was made apparent when one of the characters got yelled at by a townsperson for accidentally sitting on some ants.

And then the young woman who yelled at the character announced that she was going to bury the dead ants.

In short, this particular arc of the show is mocking the same attitudes that inform PETA.

Pretty good indicator there's criminal liability in the very origins of it all. Hmm, that's encouraging.

As the report makes clear, there's a Himalayan range of criminal liability in the conduct of things thereafter - Graham flatly declared tonight it became a "criminal conspiracy pretty quickly" - to defraud the FISC. Impossible to imagine the dozen+ documented instances of info being withheld from the court, etc., will not open up several of our favorite people to big problems.

those hair metal bands weren't awful they just
weren't metal but they posed as it. Had a couple okay songs. Some of
them like Cinderella were actually pretty good but the lead singer was
not up to the task. I even liked some of the Led Clones like
Whitesnake. But they were no Judas Priest or AC/DC.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at December 10, 2019 12:12 AM (KZzsI)

Cinderella had a good sound because the guitar player/singer dude had a thing for vintage gear. It was a classic gibson/marshall sound. But yeah, many of the hair bands were posers, but some of them actually had a good metal tone. Great gear, bad taste in songs. I always said hair metal musicians were the dudes who raided their girlfriend's makeup and wardrobe and then sat around writing songs about the girlfriends whose makeup and wardrobe they raided.

Not the same, of course, and I've told this story before (I'm running out of stories that people haven't already heard, just blow it off if I've told you before), but we had a guy in my unit that had one of photos that used to be posted in HQ. This was an 'Issue' picture of Gen. Westmoreland, who was CO of VN forces at the time.

The guy had penned on the pic, "To My Pal Harry', signed 'Westy'. It was stuck on the inside of the door of his locker. It cracked me up every time I saw it.

He probably meant Lifeson chords, plural. The chords that don't exist in normal space time. I was around 15 when I started playing them, before the internet, and I had to learn the damn chords by trial and error since nobody frigging knew them. He would add a note, or leave one out that would completely change how the damn thing sounded. Normal chords would be close, but not a lifeson chord, so close was never close enough. That was part of the fun in some ways.

666 Despite the predictions that the IG report was over-sold, and conservative characterizations of it as a white-wash once it was released, I believe we won one Monday.

Regardless of how the media spins the report, leftists everywhere are remarkably quiet. I don't know if that started before or after Durham weighed in, but I think they're beginning to realize the jig is up.

667 It is kind of fum to see the Atlanta Journal-Constitution try to sue Clint Eastwood for "defaming" Kathy Scruggs.

The only problem with their suit is that you cannot defame a dead person.

As long as he does not defame anyone else at the AJC, he is free and clear.

That lets the audience decide if the current AJC is still the kind of place that might use reporters who sleep with sources to get their stories, just like the New York Times does.

And folks-If you just mentioned something in passing it may not make it to the prayer list unless I see it.

And yet, for all the (R) tsk-tsk-ing, the left gets laws passed via the SCOTUS, and we get tax cuts that will expire while having both houses of Congress and the most conservative president since Coolidge.

However, when in the Course of Human Events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and there is no longer a civil society to preserve, the rules need to change!

I don't necessarily disagree, but no one can opt out and we can't even cut it 10%, and people aren't adequately saving for retirement because they know to expect that welfare.

Ponzi scheme absolutely, though.

We knew a crack whore back in CT when we lived there. After her teeth rotted out of her head the State stepped in and gave her brand new fake teeth. She was so proud of her "free" teeth she showed them to everyone and told them they didn't cost anything. I wanted to punch her in her "free" teeth so bad but the wife restrained me.

825 "Once upon a time, it made sense to think that the preservation of our civil society required adherence to norms which were an essential part of a civil society."

It took too long for enough people to realize that the Left had infiltrated us as deeply as it has, for multiple decades, at all levels of power and influence.

It took too long for us to realize the Left actively sought to destroy those norms to replace them with their own.

It took too long for much of what we take for granted that all of us have, to some degree, been brainwashed. Much of what we assumed was conventional wisdom has long been engineered , implemented, and cultivated by people who want to see us subjugated or neutralized.

But because of Trump, I think enough people are
beginning to get all that. Maybe.

If so, then people also have to realize the fact that something which cannot go on forever, won't. Something, somewhere has to break. Not a matter of if but when. As morons point out, we won't be voting our way out of this. Yesterday made that pretty clear.

So the big question becomes...how will that likely begin to manifest itself, because once it starts, it won't stop easily.

854 "We have to deal with slavery."

Sure, let's talk about African-Americans taking some responsibility for it too. Because, if you are descended from African slaves, odds are you are ALSO descended from African slavers. West African tribes were raiding their neighbors for the sole purpose of capturing each other to sell into slavery so they could buy more european guns.

So if my American ancestors are somehow responsible for slavery, so are your African ancestors.

How come we never talk about that, eh?
