Washington Post Stealth-Censors a Report on the FBI Lawyer Probed for Altering and Official Document, Removing Report That She Worked "Beneath Peter Strzok" Without Noting the Deletion or Explaining the Reason for It

I have my own correction to make -- I reported an FBI agent was accused of altering a document, when it was actually an FBI lawyer. I don't know if this was my mistake or if that mistake was in the CNN original story.

Update: Apparently the error started with CNN and the leftwing propaganda houses -- Katie Pavlich noted that the Washington Post also reported it was an "FBI agent" who made the alteration, and in fact reported it was Peter Strzok.

However, I did make a mistake in assuming this must be about the altered 302 interview records; Horowitz is investigating FISA abuses, not the Flynn matter, so this alteration would seem likely to be of some document used to procure -- illicitly -- a FISA warrant.

Now the Conservative Tree House seems to catch the Washington Post cleaning up for a key ally.

The original WaPo article by Devlin Barrett noted the FBI official was actually a "line-level" lawyer who worked "under FBI Agent Peter Strzok."

At 12:15am, the WaPo article was significantly edited, two more journalists (Ellen Nakashima and Matt Zapotosky) were added to the byline. Unfortunately, no explanation or notation of the changes were given.

They deleted the connection to Strzok -- I'm sure Strzok is grateful to them -- and then also added that this lawyer is just a "low-level" lawyer.

Kind of like those low-level IRS operatives in the Cincinnati office, right?

Conservative Treehouse then deduces who this "low-level" lawyer is. And it's someone who of course worked on the "MYE" -- Mid-Year Review, the euphemistic code-name for the fake investigation into Hillary Clinton's genuine withholding-documents conspiracy.

Paul Sperry seems to have concluded the same thing, that the "low-level" line lawyer being investigated is Kevin Clinesmith, who was previously called "Lawyer #2" in Horowitz's previous report.

REWIND: "FBI Attorney 2" Kevin Clinesmith was among 5 FBI agents DOJ IG Horowitz referred for investigation for sending pro-Clinton, anti-Trump political messages over FBI phones and computers. Clinesmith worked C.I. cases under Strzok, including Crossfire Hurricane/Carter Page

Problem is, that by Law, the people who SIGN the Warrant application have to ensure and swear the information is accurate.

So, unless they DID NOT DO THEIR JOB, a low level lawyer would not have been able to do anything.

Now, as they were going after the Campaign people of a Presidential candidate, with HUGE implications for the future, you would think those signing said applications would be even MORE careful than normal.

yet, Rosenstein singed the last application himself, even AFTER it was PUBLIC knowledge that the information the warrant was based on, was bullshit.

Ergo, the system of checks on Federal Power, did not work.

The no-knock raids were calculated to get the notoriously impetuous and easily riled Trump to Do Something that would permit Mueller to claim Obstruction of Justice so that he would have something to hang an impeachment on. Fortunately Trump seems to have had good counsel and better he listened to them and did nothing that would help an obstruction charge. Worse for them, he cooperated fully with documents, making people available for interviews, etc. and was able to get out cleanly.

283 >>Give me a break- first thing leaked from the IG report is a lawyer altering a document and fabricating a fake email to cover it up. Note the emphasis that the underlying FISA warrant was still valid. Horowitz is in on the game. His job is to cover for the FBI/DOJ. I am sad to report that I have no faith that anyone connected to past and current wretched skullduggery is going to jail.
There are two systems of justice in this country. One for us, and one for them

Who made the leak and where was it leaked to?

One of the final steps in an IG report is to give it to the potential witnesses and targets for their review. Given that the leak went to CNN and the WaPo it's pretty likely the lead didn't come from Barr.

I wouldn't get too wrapped around the axle about a low level lawyer being the sole target. It's likely false.

Posted by: JackStraw at November 22, 2019 02:38 PM (ZLI7S)

284 I am skeptical that anyone handling FISA stuff is low level, and that person wasn't doing it just for shits and giggles. That person was directed by others, in concert with others, to do just that.

In concert with the specific subject of the warrant that will be a slippery slope to climb. They will try.

296 @254

You have to understand, we know and see the totality of the conspiracy, this whole thing, at least from the IG perspective, is being investigated as isolated incidents.

which is why not much has happened with each successive Horowitz report.

Hopefully what Barr and Durham are doing is taking each of the data points and connecting the dots to reveal the grand conspiracy, reminiscent of the ending of The Usual Suspects.

298 Kevin Clinesmith is Sally Moyer's husband. Moyer is also FBI.

If Clinesmith is the line attorney, then Moyer failed to disclose that he was her husband.

She testified that the line attorney believed that he had probable cause for the FISA warrant on Page. Said it 'wasn't even a close call'. She futher testified that he had been involved in the investigation.

She reviewed the line attorney's warrant application, supported it, and signed off on it.

Clinesmith worked on the Hillary email scandal, the Russian Collusion Delusion, and the Mueller investigation.

He was reportedly fired from the Mueller investigation for 'extreme bias'.
