White House Aide Sues Politico for Defamation, Citing Story Written by "Fusion Nat" Bertrand

Get 'em.

A White House official on Monday sued Politico and one of its reporters over stories and tweets that he says falsely accuse him of “lying, deceit and unethical conduct.”

Kash Patel, the National Security Council's senior counterterrorism director, is seeking more than $25 million in damages in the suit filed in Virginia....

The lawsuit also names Natasha Bertrand, a Politico reporter and MSNBC contributor, as well as Politico owner Robert Allbritton.

...

While Politico is the nominal target of the suit, it represents an aggressive attempt by a presidential aide to put Adam Schiff's handling of the impeachment inquiry itself on trial. Describing the Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence Committee as "a demagogue with an axe to grind against the president," Patel portrays Schiff as running roughshod over rules and interviewing witnesses "to create click-bait headlines and soundbites to feed to his co-conspirators and media sympathizers."

It's time to open up the libel laws, as a prescient man once said.

But they made an offer to me to work from home 4 days a week and come up to the new office just on Mondays until February. But if I take it, I would have to not look for other work until that's done. Should I take the offer? And they need to know today.

Take it if:

(1) it gives you peace of mind.
(2) if you don't already have something in the works and are still looking around.
(3) don't mind the mind-numbing traffic - and pack something good to listen to

You might propose a different day then Monday's though as that's a heavy traffic day - are Friday's an option since a lesser number of folks are driving in that day?

Just my opinion of course.

Sometimes letting things slide for the time being is fine, other times, it's a sign that change would do you good.

113 I too am going to go completely OT. I've had some conversations this past week - including my brother who came through town, first time in a few years. And something came to my mind which I'm ashamed to say I didn't think of before.

It's about David French, and how he is oddly more consistent than other Never Trumpers. Like, say, Nichols and Kristol, he is one who regards Trump's actions was wrong per se, no matter how well they fit with what he himself had supported. My realization comes from his move to early Calvinism, which he had declared several years before Trump.

Now, in the 16th and 17th C, the more extreme Calvinists took the doctrine of the Fall further than others. They held (and this is arguably essential to Calvinism) that the actions of the Reprobates are, all of them, wholly sinful. Only the deeds of the Elect can be called good. Thus, say, Mother Teresa (obviously unregenerate) did things which were just as sinful as the deeds of Jeffrey Epstein. There is no difference.

Apply this to politics, and Trump, and the way it works is clear. I really should have seen this 3 years ago.

using this fake impeachment crap as a shield against everything...

- who their nominees are
- how great Trump, the country and economy is doing
- protect Biden(s) - he is only staying in as a shield, narcissism and money
- distraction from everything while wearing people down into brainwashing
- and the Democrat party NOT getting anything done

Every single time they shout "Trump should testify" is when he responds with one great thing he has accomplished, and why won't the Democrats sign the bill for thousands of jobs for American. Every single time. Use it to prove how the Democrats are hiding and defying Americans - keeping them from jobs and national security every single day while wasting $billions of their tax dollars, hard earned tax dollars.

168 Over 150, so I can go OT? I put a truck up for sale on the Canadian classified site Kijiji (sort of like Craigslist, but much more commercial and slick-looking, to its great discredit).

First response I get is an e-mail from a dealership sales bozo in Red Deer, inviting me to come trade my truck in on a new or used vehicle at his dealership. Yeah, riiight! I always put my old vehicle up for sale before going to dealership to buy a new one.

No wonder car salespeople get such a bad rep.

That Qantas is refusing to bend the knee says to me that the whole thing is on tape.

My wariness of Sullivan as applied is long stated. The press truly appears to believe that they can say anything about anyone and oh it's just an opinion and it's not malice and lalalalalalala.

Completely OT, but I need some work advice (real advice, not "slap a hot iron to it). Friday is supposed to be my lat day at my job. They're relocating to North Jersey, a good 2+ hour commute, which is just not doable for me. But they made an offer to me to work from home 4 days a week and come up to the new office just on Mondays until February. But if I take it, I would have to not look for other work until that's done. Should I take the offer? And they need to know today.

Good lord, take it. That's exactly how I work. Four days offsite, one day at home and the commute is about two hours. Piece of cake.

IIRC, the Chik-fil-A founders donated *personal* money to a charity that promotes marriage, as in: let's save this institution from divorce, etc. Not specifically anti-gay, just traditional marriage focused.

That this has been twisted into something else entirely is ugly, and a demonstration of the worst elements of Lefty activism: they want their 2 minutes of hate in order to unify their troops, and they're happy to make sh#t up and keep it going for years and years simply because f#ck you, pay me.

And I'm not a big fan of Joel who sounds like a name it and claim it preacher, but if he helps leads people to a deeper relationship with Jesus that is not necessarily a bad thing.

315 Hold the selfies, put the 'Gram away
Get your family, y'all hold hands and pray
When you got daughters, always keep 'em safe
Watch out for vipers, don't let them indoctrinate

Closed on Sunday, you my Chick-fil-A
You're my number one, with the lemonade

Raise our sons, train them in the faith
Through temptations, make sure they're wide awake
Follow Jesus, listen and obey
No more livin' for the culture, we nobody's slave

Stand up for my home
Even if I take this walk alone
I bow down to the King upon the throne
My life is His, I'm no longer my own

The freedom never intended to elevate a group of people owning one, or writing stuff for those who did, to extra status.

The whole idea was to let you post your bills in public without getting raided. You could still get shunned, denied service, fought with, and all the rest. But not raided by the authorities.

you just described 9 out of 10 of the pastors at mainstream congregations in the US.

I remember one church I visited long ago, heard a sermon by a man who went on to become a senior Methodist Bishop. He was supposedly a very nice man, but members of his church described his sermons as "long strings of completely unconnected anecdotes". He would stand up and ramble for about 15 minutes, and then sit down. That's all you ever got from him.

395 One of Kanye's songs addresses the idea Christians might be the judgiest about his conversion:

Told the devil that I'm going on a strike
I've been working for you my whole life
Nothing worse than a hypocrite
Change, he ain't really different
He ain't even try to get permission
Ask for advice and they dissed him
Said I'm finna do a gospel album
What have you been hearin' from the Christians?
They'll be the first one to judge me
Make it feel like nobody love me
They'll be the first one to judge me
Feelin' like nobody love me

Lots of the comments on the Youtube posts of his songs say things like: "I haven't stepped into a church for years. Because of the new Kanye album I went last Sunday." Modern media is all about pulling people away from faith. Whatever his actual motivations, if Kanye's music can bring a younger generation back to the faith their parents abandoned, bless.

Small steps. He's slightly better than nothing. I've listened to him a few times to see what's up, back when he came on after Fox News Sunday when that was remotely tolerable. He didn't actually say anything wrong, he just didn't say anything with any real value. Sorta like watching Hallmark Christmas movies to learn about the Incarnation. Harmless and clean but devoid of content.

How do you reach the most people? I think you first have to attract them with stuff that's not too hard and then direct them carefully.

Interesting.

Here ya go from last Sunday's sermon:

It's easy to go through life letting people and circumstances put names on us, such as average, unqualified, addicted, or poor. Sometimes our own thoughts have named us as unattractive, not talented, not good enough, unworthy. As long as you're wearing these names, believing the lies that people and circumstances have told you, it's going to keep you from your potential. You have to change your name in your mind. Who do you believe you are? How do you see yourself? When God breathed life into you, He named you blessed, prosperous, talented, victorious, one of a kind, a masterpiece. People will call you ordinary, average, nothing special. If you accept that name, you'll become exactly that.

A man was walking past a tattoo shop in Thailand when he noticed that one of the tattoos they offered was "Born to Lose." He asked the owner if anyone ever got that tattoo. The owner nodded and said in broken English, "Before tattooed on body, tattooed on mind." If you accept in your mind the negative names people call you, if you let circumstances name you, you're giving it the right to come to pass. In your mind, is your name born to lose or born to win? Is your name poor, broke, in debt, or is your name prosperous, blessed, more than enough? Is your name sick, tired, can't get well. or is your name healthy, whole, energetic? Have you let life name you addicted, limited, always struggling, or do you go by what God named you - free, victorious, overcomer, well able?

You can't stop people from saying negative things about you. But I've learned you are not who people call you; you are what you answer to. They may call you slow, average, washed up, clumsy. That's okay. Just don't answer to it. Recognize what's happening. They're trying to rename you. When you hear them say you're forgiven, redeemed, and restored, that's when you need to listen. When they say you're unqualified, inexperienced, and less than, say, "Excuse me, did you mean anointed, highly favored, and well able? That's who I am." When thoughts tell you that you're unattractive, or you don't have a good personality, or that nobody wants to be around you, don't give that the time of day. When you hear that you're sharp, fun, well off, and a masterpiece, answer, "Yes, that's my name."

Are you answering to something that you're not? Quit letting those negative thoughts play in your mind. That's not who you are. Keep calling yourself what God calls you. If you do this, strongholds that have held you back will be broken. You're about to step into who you were created to be.

The sermon further followed up with name changes and what they meant from the Bible - Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, Benoni to Benjamin.

Again, strawmen are easy to defeat.

The Pharisees were in conflict with Jesus because they were wrapped around the axle on the rules.

If you think that is what Osteen is about, then you don't know anything about him at all.

We have a world full of really bad people and people want to burn Osteen at the stake.
