Suspect Arrested in Mexico Massacre;
New York Times: Maybe The Murdered Women and Children Were Colonizers Who Deserved To Be Butchered

It's very possible this guy was picked up nearly at random so that Mexico could claim "We got him" while protecting the cartels actually responsible.

One person was in custody Wednesday but many questions remained unanswered surrounding the brutal massacre that took the lives of nine family members in northern Mexico.
Monday's slaughter was carried out by cartel gunmen who ambushed three SUVs along a dirt road in an attack that left one vehicle a burned-out, bullet-riddled hulk. Three women and six children died in the carnage.

The family's vehicles were sprayed with gunfire on a road near Rancho La Mora in a remote and mountainous area where the Sinaloa cartel has been engaged in a turf war with another gang. Authorities have theorized the attackers worked for a cartel that mistook the family's SUVs for a rival gang's convoy.

Criminal investigators said late Tuesday that a suspect was arrested and was under investigation for possible connections with the deaths. In a statement posted on Facebook, the Agency for Criminal Investigation for the state of Sonora said that the suspect was found in the town of Agua Prieta, right across from the Arizona border, holding two hostages who were gagged and tied inside a vehicle.

The New York Times, meanwhile, absolutely covered itself in glory, stating that the murder of Americans by Mexicans "highlights the long history of religious fundamentalist settlers in the region."

In other words: What were these white colonizers even doing in Mexico in the first place, besides begging for some racial retribution?

All praise the media.

They're heroes and they're the only people in America deserving of free speech rights, because they obviously know best how to use it.

As mentioned by a few of us locals last night, Bevin was doing the right thing dealing with the pension crisis (that he inherited) but its how he came across publicly when he was getting frustrated with the legislature who were tactfully trying to get a grip on things as well as the protesting teachers who were conducting sit-in's during on school days.

So its not that those were voting against Bevin b/c many will not vote for a Gimmedat but they voted straight Republican minus Bevin. My relatives and in-laws included... Bevin calling teachers stupid, childish, and unruly (even thought true) on a public forum (radio and tv interviews on multiple occasions) and telling them to call him on it were enough to sway it to the other guy.

I'm pretty positive that a re-count or what other irregularities he wants the Sec of State (still controlled by a donkeycrat until the new guy is sworn in) to look into isn't going to help him at all but stranger things have happened even though it less than a 5k vote difference.

People were worried Obrador would be strong, but he's proving to be even weaker than Vicente Fox.

The Mexican Govm't now exists for ceremonial purposes only, and as the wealth redistribution center for above board work. In all other matters, the Cartels are now essentially the Shogun's of Mexico - they hold all actual military power, and any legal system only functions insofar as the cartels allow it, and they find it useful to their purposes.

In a very real sense, the Cartels ARE the Mexican Govm't now.

The thing is a glorified convection oven. As far as I can tell, it cannot ever do the one thing you want a fryer to do. No Batter.

So, what about fries? Or other fried things like egg rolls. Not too bad, not perfect. You know, in the real world, you cook fries twice. Here, your best result seems to be from using frozen precut fries. basically, it's a meh.

I like mine a lot. Tater tots come out nice and crispy, and even regular fries are pretty good, definitely far better than baking them.

chicken wings cook up much quicker and cleaner than deep frying. Also baked taters take about half the time. Definitely a good purchase for our house.

My wife got us one after I had a stroke and had to "modify" my diet. (I've fully recovered)
Makes terrific lumpia, egg rolls, acceptable french fries, and is great for "re-heating" things like fried chicken.
You have to be careful -- it's nothing more than a miniature convection oven, and it's easy to dry out food too much when cooking, because the air is fan powered and cooks all sides at once.

I'm not big on em for the sin of displacing my beloved Plymouth Belvedere at LAPD. Learned to drive in a ten year old Belvedere; my step-sister was driving the thing when it was eligible for a Horseless Carriage tag.

A lot of those decisions were about gas mileage rules and overall fleet. Like: add seats in the back it becomes x kind of vehicle and can be counted in the overall averages of MPG so we can make bigger, more popular models.

We have both, and the frier gives you different results. It seriously is basically like deep frying food, but without the pot of oil. And its slightly healthier. I am amazed, this is the first new kitchen product that really is useful and valuable (worth getting) since I dunno, the crock pot.

Fuck, Chris. Quit embarassing yourself. The Pacer was originally designed to have a rotary engine, to be bought from GM, when GM was planning to put rotaries into some of their product line. The fuel crisis hit, and GM dropped rotaries like a hot potato, since even then, they were not known for fuel efficiency. So Pacer got AMC's 232 inline six, which was a damned good engine, and entirely adequate for the car. They later bumped it up to 258 cubes, and that engine went on for decades as motive power in Jeeps.

An inline six is very smooth, and has a lot of low-end torque. The big problem with Pacer was that it looked sort of funny, and it had so much glass that it was a real hothouse in the summer. And build quality was an issue: door handles falling off, etc. Like Audi for a while.

That's interesting but according to the documentary I watched, they had a more powerful engine in mind and pre-orders were excited about a quick little car with oddball looks (the first month's sales were really good). In Detroit my best friend's father was CEO Bendix. In my friends bedroom he had a bunch of 'concept' car drawings on his bedroom wall. One of them was the Pacer. Low and behold the seventies came about and so did the Pacer. Other than the shitty engine was the fact that it was a Solar Oven with all that glass surrounding the passenger compartment.

In a way they do... Google lost boys and polygamy. The Lost Boys are young boys in the fundamentalist compounds on the Arizona/Utah border who get kicked out of the community so the old pervy men can marry the young girls their age. Not enough women to go around. They are sheltered and naive, shoved out into the harsh world. Many of the boys have to resort to prostitution to survive. It's horrible.
