New York Times Reporter Had Public Records Proving Elizabeth Warren's Claim About Being Fired Due to Pregnancy False, But Refused to Report It

A reporter who now works for the New York Times failed to report on public records, which he obtained in April, that cut against Senator Elizabeth Warren's (D., Mass.) claim that she was fired from a teaching position in 1971 due to pregnancy discrimination.
Reid Epstein, who was then working for the Wall Street Journal, filed an open-records request with the Riverdale Board of Education on April 2 seeking "to inspect or obtain" copies of public records relating to Warren’s time teaching at Riverdale during the 1970-1971 school year. In response to his request, Epstein on April 10 received school-board minutes that challenge Warre'’s story, according to documents obtained by National Review through the New Jersey Open Records Act.
Epstein, who moved to the Times on April 19, never broke the story. Reached for comment, a Times spokeswoman said that the "records were inconclusive" and the potential story required further sourcing.

After the Free Beacon got the scoop -- which was only possible because Reid Epstein chose not to publish a story that would hurt a Democrat candidate -- the New York Times published a story, featuring Reid Epstein as a contributor, which claimed that... Elizabeth Warren's story was sort of true, despite being false, because... other women had been fired due to pregnancy?

The Times' reporting frames the story around "the discrimination that many pregnant women have faced on the job" and highlights Warren's statement, which dismissed the evidence gathered by the Beacon as lacking in context.

And the left fights for more gate-keeping by social media monopolies to censor stories they deem "false" or "misleading."

But you can see they think any story that hurts Democrats or socialism is false or misleading, because it diverts people away from their Glorious Socialist Future.

If the left had its way, the Free Beacon would not have been permitted to run their story.

This is an attempt at actual totalitarianism. They want to do it. The social media monopolists want to do it too.

They're just not sure they can get away with it yet.

The truth doesn't enter into the equation. They have all signed on to hyphenated variants of so-call "justice" - "social justice" or "economic justice" or "environmental justice" or whatever.

All of these hyphenations are, of course, not justice at all. They are injustice because they must be by definition. Justice is neutral (it's implementation is not, but the ideal state of the blindfolded woman holding the scales is the ideal of neutral justice). Modifying it makes it non-neutral and therefore non-justice.

But they have all subscribed to injustice as their fundamental operational precept. Truth doesn't matter, only their variant of injustice matters. Their delusion is not that that they are being truthful, but that they are being just.

This is far more dangerous and far harder to fix. A man who thinks he knows the truth but has it wrong is merely ignorant. He can be taught. A man who disregards the truth because it conflicts with his vision of justice is not ignorant, he is evil. I don't know if you can teach away evil once it sets in.

Agreed, although here's a quick try: "boogaloo" was originally a type of fast jazz music, and it entered the mainstream culture due to the movie "Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo" (1984), one of the most cringe-worthy movies of the 80's. It turned into a meme for any really, really awful sequel, and then everyone just ran with it.

I think a lot of people are just tuning "news" out in general.

My dad for instance subscribed the the local newspaper for like 30 years straight. It was biased, but not too bad. But with Trump, it went off the deep end, and he finally just stopped his subscription. Also watched a lot of local news, pretty much stopped. Happier not worrying about it, and there's so many outlets for entertainment these days.

The media just doesn't have the power it did even 4 years, ago, people know they are lying combined with just not consuming it anymore.
