John Brennan Orders His Personal Stenographer, Natasha "Fusion Nat" Bertrand, to Write a Five-Alarm Scream Piece Decrying How Terrible It Is That the Architect of the Russia Hoax is Being (Gasped) Investigated

Wait, who's obsessed here, Fusion Nat?

The media is just a criminal mob.

Play ball with us, and we'll do favors for you; but if you ever say a dark word about us, we'll whack you.

President Donald Trump's obsession with former CIA director John Brennan could be on a collision course with an ongoing Justice Department probe as Attorney General Bill Barr takes a more hands-on approach to examining the intelligence community’s actions in 2016.

Barr has been meeting with the U.S.' closest foreign intelligence allies in recent months, making repeated overseas trips as part of an investigation he is overseeing into the origins of the Russia probe and whether any inappropriate "spying" occurred on Trump's campaign.

As part of that investigation, Barr and John Durham, the federal prosecutor he appointed to conduct it, have been probing a conspiracy theory for which there is little if any evidence, according to several people with knowledge of the matter: that a key player in the Russia probe, a professor named Joseph Mifsud, was actually a Western intelligence asset sent to discredit the Trump campaign -- and that the CIA, under Brennan, was somehow involved.

"Somehow" involved, as if this is so convoluted it can't even be explained!

The emerging focus of the Barr-Durham investigation -- the CIA and intelligence community’s work with the FBI on the Russia probe -- emphasizes the increasingly blurred lines between politics and law enforcement in the Trump era.

I would say that, based on Johnny Cong over here dialing up Fusion Nat to write this working-the-grand-jury piece, that John Brennan actually does have fears of prosecution.

More: The media is in PROTECT BRENNAN mode, as Deb Heine notes.

They're very, very upset people are trying to find out whether Misfud works for the Russians... or not.

Didn't they used to claim we had to do our all to discover that?

Why do they suddenly not want to know about POSSIBLE RUSSIAN ASSET Joseph Mifsud?

[Mark] Hosenball, it should be noted, was one of the reporters featured in the Wikileaks Podesta email releases in 2016, who actually seemed to be working for the Clinton campaign. In an email to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, Hosenball seemed very eager to share some Benghazi information that he had obtained.

See Deb Heine's piece for more about that.

123 Willowed from previous,
For those complaining about no indictments yet and comparing it to special counsel investigations which generally drag on for perjury or obstruction charges, I include some brief previous case histories.

Operation Greylord which targeted widespread corruption in Cook County took about a decade to complete with over 92 corrupt officials sent to prison. Watergate took about two years from the burglary to Nixon's resignation and the investigation dragged on into 1977.

Since Session apparently did nothing nor did his Deputy (who was covering his own tracks). Essentially the investigation started shortly after Barr was confirmed in February of 2018. Thus, we are about 18 month or so into the process.

Complicated multi-part investigations take time in the most favorable conditions but with the media, intelligence, foreign policy, judicial, Congress, and law community serving as co-conspirators in the coverup, things have to be made crystal clear in order for prosecutions to be successful. That takes time to rollup a network.

At this time, I am neither surprised that it is taking so long nor do I believe that Barr is some sort of cleaner for the establishment. What I do believe is that the depth of the corruption is so deep that fixing it without damaging needful institutions such as the DOJ and intelligence is akin to changing the transmission of a car as it goes down the road.

My personal belief is that the Clinton raid on security clearance files early in 1993 along with the increasing domestic reach of NSA intercept capabilities after the switch to digital communications and computerization of records have created a perfect storm. Essentially we have arrived at the surveillance society.

Note the supposed penetration of Chinese intelligence into security clearance files has essentially kompromat materials on millions of federal workers and others with security clearances. Like Hillary's secret server, I would not be surprised that since the Chinese could be blamed that domestic political operatives took advantage to grab usable data themselves from SF-86 as the compromise could be blamed on the Chinese. The new CFPB has all electronic financial records and was designed to be unaccountable. Add in the IRS data collection by political operatives on Republicans, the John Doe investigations in Wisconsin, etc. etc. along with unauthorized access of NSA intercepts by "contractors" that is still going on, CIA spying on Senators, Awan's penetration of House and probably Senate Networks, Democratic/Deep State operatives probably have kompromat on most Republicans in elected office as well as in the bureaucracy.

That is why I suspect that Trump brought Barr in as he predated most of the digital kompromat materials but was there when a lot of this stuff began.

the funny thing about brennan is the word being that he's actually not that bright. His particular brand of hate and incompetence and corruption was the right flavor to get him promoted.

It's the part that bothers me perhaps more than any other. The incompetence. Brennan, Clapper, Comey, Mueller, et. al. are simply very unremarkable people of low-to-middling intellect, and it's plain as day when you see them speak and act. They are also soft and coddled.

A Dzerzhinsky, a Beria - hell, even an Andropov - would eat these men alive, pick their teeth with their bones, and then go out for shots of slivo.

I don't want to be lorded over unscrupulous, conniving spy chieftains - but if I must, having them be dull mediocrities who wouldn't stand out in a crowd of one simply adds insult to injury.

Does that sound like a good idea to you?

Anyone else remember The Good Shepherd?

It's the second of two movies Robert de Niro ever directed. It's about the formation of the CIA starring Matt Damon.

They're portrayed as monsters without morals or the ability to connect with other people who bungle everything they do.

That's been the leftist viewpoint of the CIA for decades, and they're completely turning on a dime about it. It's weird.

Of course, after all the voters are too incompetent to know what their true interests are and vote accordingly. That is why we have a Democrat Party full of Great Helmsmen-and-women-and-otherkin to direct and guide the people whether they want it down and to call a time out when they get overtired and cranky.

301 240, He is a rat but at some point to penetrate a conspiracy, you have to have someone inside to spell it out for the jury. You go for the weakest link. Remember, it is not enough to have documents, etc. because you have to introduce that stuff via a witness who can illustrate the connections, explain the lingo, and so on to a grand jury as well as to a trial jury. John Dean served that purpose in the Watergate scandal.

The first rule of bureaucracy is get it in writing and do CYA memos such as Comey did so if your questionable actions come to light, you can point the finger at someone else. I suspect that Rosenstein kept more than enough kompromat to get the higher ups in the FBI for potential legal jeopardy.

The FBI'ers kept the kompromat on the CIA and maybe the State Dept. folks which is why Brennan and CIA actions along with the Dept. of State represent the end of the chain and most at risk for initial prosecutions. Thus, the CIA folks then rat on the FBI folks, the FBI folks blame the DOJ folks, and the DOJ folks probably rats on Lynch, Rice, etc. which leads to you know who.

The old saying that a fish rots from the head is appropriate.

He's like JackStraw in his optimism. But it is starting to wear on me.

He is good on the timeline of all these consequential events - but some of that is busted. Like Mueller interviewed for FBI director before he interviewed for SC. But Mueller isn't the sharp investigtor who came and exonerated Trump.

He was a feeb with a bunch of partisan hacks trying to take down Trump who couldn't. And it doesn't matter what his report said, the Dems say it says something else.

314 To be totally cynical (which is totally justified), it makes total sense that if the Department of Justice has to produce a big head to throw to the masses, it would come from the IC rather than the FBI. Obviously there has been ample evidence to indict McCabe for perjury for more than a year or so, but he's DOJ so Brennan would make a more attractive target.

Hopefully this will ignite an internecine war between the IC and DOJ. Regardless, it's better than the status quo.

I've been saying here for well over a year that Ukraine was the key to unlocking this scam. Not because I have extra sensory powers, because I read every frigging thing I can find on this stuff and I don't automatically forget what I know to be true when the next tweet comes out.

In some of the cases, such as May in UK, Renzi in Italy, and Turnbull in Australia, the leaders that probably approved getting in bed with Brennan to prevent Trump are gone with the current leaders having to deal with a not so amused Trump. I suspect that Mifsud's phones are part of that deal. We promise not to blowup Five Eyes spying activities in return for getting the information on CIA and State Department actions in l'affaire le Trump. Pompeo's lateral shift from the CIA to State is probably part of that as well as Hauspel being promoted to CIA head.

Think of each department as a separate crime family such as the syndicate in NY and you get the picture. That is why Giuliani is involved I suspect.

414 One thing to do about journalists since the media apparently has no connection to a market place is to start rating the reliability of those "reporting".

It would have to be some objective means. perhaps just listing someone's CV so that their record of reporting can be looked up.

A simple database with info supplied by users and verified by other users. Something like a wiki but with controls to prevent takeovers of particular subjects.

Then use that for a numerical left/right rating and a proven reliability score.

the rigged "investigation" was supposed to stop with "Mifsud proves to be another link to Trump/Russia" ... that's it, stop investigating now.

And there were a few like Mifsud, other CIA assets sent to dirty up Trump's campaign, pretending to be Russian, portrayed to FISC to be Russians. The one in Australia, the woman that met briefly with Don Jr (and met with fusion before and after that meeting) ... I think they had multiple attempts at dirtying up Trump.

All of them were supposed to be accepted as evidence (dirty up Trump operation), but not supposed to be really investigated. Mueller certainly falsely represented them as Russkie infiltrators, and he faked the claim that Russia hacked the emails (it was Seth, possibly some other DNC insider)

475 Now why would Durham be expanding his investigation? Why would it morph into a criminal investigation?

Posted by: JackStraw

It was always going to be a criminal "case" if Durham agreed to go ahead after reviewing the initial evidence supplied him by the IG and the FBI assigned to the case - he obviously felt strong enough about it to get depositions - that's what DOJ attorneys do, they prosecute cases - I think a lot of the media know that but they are trying this slight of hand spin on it.

And Durham expanded the number of attorneys on the case probably because there are more possible targets and charges after depositions were taken - not because he needed to more guys to investigate - the FBI and LE do investigations, not DOJ attorneys. He'd just call the case investigators over at J. Edgar Hoover Bldg and get them to look into something mentioned in a depo if he needed more "investigating."

The first is "The Parties Switched!" which enabled the Dems to offload two hundred years of their being the slavers, KKK, Jim Crow enthusiasts onto the Republicans with a flip of the switch.

Now they're offloading 100 years of their being the party which couldn't wait to support communism world-wide while communism was murdering 150 million people. Again, they're dumping "Russia" right onto Republicans.

There is not really unity among the individuals in these institutions as what has happened is that the major players in DC politics put their "guys" into position so that if something breaks their way, they know the score and can benefit or deflect as necessary.

There were/are Bushies, McCainiacs, Clintonites, Obamites, Sorosians, along with others associated with particular politicians of long standing, along with major government contractor and K street lobbying clientele groups such as the Podesta group. The patrons are the front guys for the mutually reinforcing network. This network is then overlaid into particular institutions with these loose networks fitted into formal positions in the FBI, etc.

This is the Deep State and Trump being an outsider is setup with the personnel problem of fighting these networks which all see him as a threat. Essentially he has to invent his network from scratch and there is a reason that McConnell has blocked recesses so that Trump cannot put his folks into position--it is so the initial players that Trump had to put into place from the GOPe networks cannot be replaced by Trump loyalists. The same smear actions were carried out against the Trumpists in the NSC, DOJ, etc. in order to keep the status quo.

481 Brennan - I have no doubt he sees himself as a hero. I'm sure many people around him do as well. But...why?

488 484, there is also an alternative theory about another guy but I think that Ciaramella is probably the initial wb. Other guy's name was something Barry I think.

490 "Trump's obsession with former CIA director John Brennan"

...she claimed without evidence.

Interesting phrase. The usual way you get evidence is through law enforcement. But they're the ones being investigated. Or through investigation--but the DOJ is in on it, too. Or through investigative reporting. But they're actively suppressing the evidence. They all say "We're as clean as a Whistle!"

Blower.

491 Let me fix that line that the journalist dipstick (but then I repeat myself) wrote saying "emphasizing the increasingly blurred line between politics and law enforcement in "the Trump era". Substitute "the Obama administration" for those last three words, and you'll be about right.
